I swear, every anon here has this as one of their favorites. Dont get me wrong, its a fine game but I fail to see what about it is so universally beloved here.

dmc1 was good but still needed work, 2 was shit but implemented some good features, 3 perfected it, 4 and 5 are also really good. 2bh I like 4 the best
the combination of it being completed outclassed by later games and it having this pseudo mystique of being obscure even though it is insanely popular is the perfect recipe for it being Ganker core. anons get defensive because nostalgia so they act like it's a game that filters midwits because the trend is to act like stupid entertainment secretly appeals to high intellectuals, and therefore the game is still talked about over and over even when better games exist. any more questions?
>completed outclassed by later games
This is only true of DMC5 though. DMC4 and DmC aren't better than DMC3 save in a couple aspects, and they have many more issues it doesn't. 5 and 3 are indisputably the best games in the franchise.
I agree I dont find 4 or DmC that good. I kinda meant just action games in general, I should have been more specific
This will probably end in the usual shitflinging, but I'll have to disagree. Even within the genre it's rare to find a game that knocked it out as throughly as DMC3. Many have some stuff over it, but as a whole DMC3 really stands above most everything. I think the only thing comparable is GoW2, but even that is completely different. Add to that that the genre is not that big anyway and that DMC itself is pretty unique and it's clear why people hold it so highly. You really can't go anywhere else for the kind of stuff it'll give you.
What do you think 3 has over 5? I started with 5 and went to 3. 3 is so ridiculously simple compared to 5, I don't understand how it's any fun for people. you carry two weapons at a time and every single weapon plays the same. There's a launch move and a thrust move to cover distance, along with one regular spam combo. Pretty much every fight basically came down to singling out an enemy, mash mash mash, up, down, mash mash mash, over and over until I go to the next one that's just meandering around. I just don't get the appeal how people could prefer it over 5.
I don't prefer it over 5 personally, but it has a more comfortable learning curve. 5 is more demanding not just because you have to deal with Dante starting with more than you had at the end of 3 but also with two other characters on the base campaign. In 3 you're never forced to deviate from the specific playstyle that you enjoy since its designed with not having everything available at once, so it's much easier to get comfortable with the game. Since you don't have any character switching you also always play with the same mechanics all the way through and one mission will continue right where you left the previous one.
Again, that's all preference though. I'd still rather have 5's multiple characters and more options since it makes the game less monotonous and more challenging.
That's a good point. While I personally prefer a loadout based system the fact that the player could not have certain weapons limits their design as they need to ensure the player retains certain basic functions, having everything at once lets all the weapons specialise way more instead of going for a more all rounder approach.
> mystique of being obscure
What are you schizoing about?
people unironically treat this game like it's some hidden gem that no one knows about. There's even people itt saying how it's underrated even though it's literally the most cherished action game of all time
Literally no one treats DMC like some kind of "underrated hidden gem" series. It's one of Capcoms most well known titles and deservedly so. Ask most normies what set the bar for hack and slash games back in the day and they'll answer DMC or God of War.
I'm talking about 3 specifically and people here, on Ganker specifically. Feel free to reread the past replies if you got a little confused there
Well of course, only morons could think 3 is some "underrated gem" and we're all on moron central.
DMC still doesn't get the love it truly deserves.
what the frick are you even talking about? its just a really fun game you autist, thats it.
>pseudo mystique of being obscure
Why lie?
They played it as a kid/teenager. The game itself is outdated, so I don't get the hype.
we didn't have "hype" we had fun games that if you liked you played it and not because an algorithm dictated your thoughts for you
zoomers in disguise
I doubt you could beat it on on the mixed up difficulty on the usa release.
Probably, but how would I know? If I wanted to play a 2005 action game, I'd play the one that didn't age poorly, NGB.
You seem to be not motivated
homosexual
It was fun and cringekino.
flash over substance combo simulators, of course the flash attracts brainlets
difficulty, and the upgrade from 1 & 2
cuhrazy PS2 gothic action kino. soundtrack is rich with mid-2000's industrial techno/metal and the cutscene cinematography is inspired by the Matrix and other trendsetting Action films at the time. the game's atmosphere is probably second to DMC1 in the whole series
Getting into DMC recently from 1-5, its a really good game that still holds up well gameplay wise with how much you could do with combos and switching between weapons. DMC1 weapons and combos were pretty alright and still fun to use but you could really only do so much with the combos the game gave you.
The game has a few rough spots like
the Timesteed boss fight and how much of a pushover Arkham is (Vergil teamkilling you is much more dangerous in that fight than Arkham himself) but I can definitely see why it would be anyone's favorite DMC entry
Vergil can damage you in the Arkham fight?
One of the best games in history. Simple as. Underrated, dare I say
Really good level design, good pacing, good gameplay that expands as you improve, and lots of replayability are the biggest reasons. It's still easily my favorite DMC
>Dont get me wrong, its a fine game
So what's the issue?
If you're wondering why there is universal praise on Ganker - there isn't. Anons shit talk DMC3 sometimes.
It is really fun, it is modern final fight
