Why does Nintendo try to scrub their OSTs from Youtube, even though they clearly don't intend to provide an alternative means of streaming and/or purchasing them? It seems utterly spiteful towards both the fans and the composers who poured their sovl into making that music.

Because they own their own products and thus have the right to tell people "No, you can't just rehost it without express permission."

Is it monetized? Can they strike something that isn't monetized? Seems weird that i can upload a song and it would get deleted off youtube

Copyright owners can do whatever the frick they want with their intellectual property. Monetization or the lack-thereof is not even a question.

it does seem like a petty little move from a moronic suit to delete a vidya song off of youtube if there's no other legal way to listen to it. Sure you shouldn't monetize something you ripped from the game, but purging it off of the internet is dumb

        You're rightn'd
Nintendo can strike unmonetized library uploads of their OST specifically because it is youtube policy, not because they actually have the right to under copyright law.

I really want to know what kind of mental gymnastics you had to go through to come to conclusion that not uploading music without permission is spiteful towards the composer.

Don't even bother responding to those comments. This is a discussion website obviously and a comment like theirs is literally designed to stop and shut down any discussion by stating something we all know, yet is superfluous to the point of not being worth mentioning. So by interacting with the homosexual you give them exactly what they want. Be better anon.

Because the Music Industry as a whole is far too complex and more corrupt than Nintendo, but no one here is ready for that discussion.
