They don't ban signature moves because it sets a dangerous precedent of picking apart the broken aspects of any Pokemon and completely invalidates the tiering system. Basculegion currently gets Last Respects, but there's no 100% assurance of that until Home support is released. They already changed movesets and stats in the day 1 patch, what's to stop them from doing it in next week's patch as well?

Last Respects is 1 move and is clearly broken. It’s even banned in STABmons because obviously having a 200-300 BP move with only drawback being “Literally playing the game naturally to a certain point” is overpowered. It’s very different to ban Last Respects entirely than to ban Flamethrower or ban Chi-yu+Flamethrower.

It was given a half dozen chances with various restrictions, and all of them became cancerous matchup checks.
baton pass teams are basically the cheapies of smogon
they win or lose instantly based on what the opponent is, instead of what the opponent does

The "we don't like complex bans" rule flew out the window in gen 5 with Swift Swim + Drizzle. They should just full commit to complex bans.

It's the fastest Last Respects user, and can become a ghost-type to boost it even further with Adaptability.
The philosophy is that at least 2 Pokemon need to be broken with an Item/Ability/Move in order for it that Item/Ability/Move to be banned.

i havent been playing comp enough to know any formats without pivot moves so it's kinda just the norm for my brain - what makes them broken and worsening of singles?
Pivoting is already strong in Singles, Pivoting with damage is even stronger as it breaks sashes etc.
