Is that a good controller? Why is controller talk so fucking hard and annoying
Why is there no consensus "best controller" that's just better at everything, instead for every single controller there are conflicting opinions on every aspect. So annoying, how do I decide what to buy
The best controller is the Dualshock 4 in pretty much every measurable aspect, but there are still retards who can't handle symmetrical sticks for some reason, hence the constant arguing.
>Dualshock 4
My only dualshock 4 has stick drift. I don't want to buy another one. Sadly, I'm playing games that use the touchpad, so I have to find a suitable third party option.
There's nothing that's the best all of them are sidegrades
xbox is fine for most modern shit
for emulation in general and indie shit best would be a 8bitdo pro 2
this guy is a retard and likes having no battery life

The switch pro controller has an awful and borderline useless d-pad. Like, out of the package if you press right it'll go up or down instead. You might be thinking "oh so I can't play platformers with it" but no any game where the d-pad does sensible shit will be a pain in the ass, I died so much playing dark souls with it
Gotta agree with the other anon: go for a dualshock 4
>Why is controller talk so fucking hard and annoying
Controllers are not one-size-fits-all, and everyone wants something perfect for as little money as possible. You're guaranteed to find dissenting opinions. Also, a lot of OEM controllers are just poorly built, and alternatives aren't much better.
The difficult answer is that they all fucking suck nowadays. Almost all of them are using the same bullshit chink parts that are prone to the same failures, they are all overloaded with unnecessary extra features you'll never use which jack up the price, and they all have some fatal drawback that will always leave you wishing for something different.
Personally, I use an 8BD SN30pro+ and get by decently with it. It's reasonably comfortable for my small hands, Just Works on a PC without any bullshit, has a long battery life, and uses my preferred analog layout with a solid d-pad. My initial thought when buying it was that it was cheap enough to not care if it sucked or broke easily, but it has lasted me longer than the multiple DS4s I went through. The only real downside I've run into is the cheap analogs will degrade pretty quickly, but I got some simple stick covers and it's groovy.
>they all have some fatal drawback that will always leave you wishing for something different.
Bumpers on the KingKong 2 Pro. Triggers to if you count the paint that I know will rub off. Also the whole controller has a somewhat rubberized feeling and I don't think the coating will hold up.
The touchpad in the newer PS controllers uses more energy than the entire rest of the controller combined, yet serves zero fucking purpose in ~95% of games.
PS5 controllers have Haptic feedback and Adaptive response triggers...so yes it is the best one. >muh battery life
where are you guys playing on the FUCKING MOON or your living room
I'm not going to use a cord when a controller is perfectly good wireless
and all that meme shit is worthless
HD rumble and all that shit is the same
the only thing that matters is a functional controller
one controller cannot serve the purpose of many
but it can get damn well near it
>Adaptive response triggers
Do people like this trash? I experienced for the first time when I borrowed a PS5 to play FF16 and having the triggers fight against me whenever I had to open a door was fucking retarded
I refuse to see it too
what fucking dumbass actually likes this shit?
I'd even argue analog triggers were a mistake the only reason they exist is because of racing homosexuals being too poor to buy a proper setup
and retards at sony are bragging about the fact that you can use a trigger as 4 buttons instead of just 2
despite you could have done that for over a decade now
fucking naggers
The average person has literally no reason to care about the polling rate of a controller. 14ms is like a single frame of input lag and the difference of one frame is not noticeable to anyone, no matter what they claim. Competitive pros are the only people that have to worry about stuff like that since that's like the only environment where that frame might actually matter. People who autistically compare the polling rates of controllers despite not playing games at a competitive level are fucking tools
less lag = more fun, simple as. If you can't tell the difference of a full frame of lag I'm sorry for you, maybe you're getting old or play shitty movie games.
For gyro controls it actually matters a lot. The Switch pad's gyro is terrible since it's delayed as fuck and not as precise. DualSense is perfect and very responsive.

Because you only buy poverty batteries. Even my 2 year old rechargeable Duracell batteries last like 15 hours+ WITH rumble enabled and the guide button on lowest brightness.
I feel like any game before 2020 defaults to Xbox controllers and don't have PS controller support despite saying they do. I have to jump through several hoops to make some games have ps5/ps4 prompts and it annoys me.
Because sony knows they can get away with it and fanboys will defend it. I think the PS4 controller had a weaker battery than the PS3 controller yet fanboys didn't care. I think for Wii U pro controller it used the same battery as the 3DS handheld. Switch pro controllers I haven't looked into what battery or size/capacity
I will say though in the end it's what's most comfortable for you. I really like the new Dualsense, Switch Pro Con, and Gamecube controllers as my all time fav in no particular order. But damn do those ps5 controllers die quickly as well
Can't speak for Xbox since I'll never buy one (happy owner of OG and 360) but as for PS4, the controller is constantly on standby for you to rub the touch pad. Big battery drain right there.
Nintendo power
fpbp
also cute cat anon, can you pet it for me, please?
that cat looks like it sucks a mean dick
Because they aren't packed to shit with unnecesary extra components

>The best controller is the Dualshock 4 in pretty much every measurable aspect
you say that in a thread about battery life
>shit build quality
>shitty stick placement
>shit dpad
>dogshit triggers
Playstation controllers are shit, they have always been shit.
ds4 fails too much to recommend, not sure if you can find them new nowadays, but even if you do it won't even last that long
>Dualshock 4

I think Scuf recently made the ultimate controller so the controller problem is solved

Pros: I like buttons, very clickey. They don't add extra weight to make it feel 'premium'
Neutral: Normal plastic, feels more classic than the premo matte Xbox stuff. It has gyro capabilities. Both of these are personal taste.
Cons: Short non-analog triggers, no option to adjust. Normal sticks, it will eventually drift.
Verdict: the best controller is probably 3rd party and sold out
Xbox lasts 20
mine lasts atleeast 30+ hours. I guess it depends on how good the battery
The touchpad in the newer PS controllers uses more energy than the entire rest of the controller combined, yet serves zero fucking purpose in ~95% of games.
dont know dont care, dogshit ergos, creeky kids meal plastic. king kong 2 and steam controller are all youll ever need
>dogshit ergos, creeky kids meal plastic.
But enough about the dualshock 5.
keep in mind switch pro controller battery was nerfed, this battery rom this boy last 80 hours
no gyro
What now chud?
Only because it didn't have rumble or gyro. Switch Pro is overall the superior controler, though I do prefer the Wii U Pro's dpad.
because it has a fucking 3ds battery inside, one of the few good points that turd has.
Superior battery.
Plus the sony's have nonsense like flashing fucking lights and speakers.
Microsoft are just shit at anything games related.
My xbox elite 2 lasts 60 hours and I've had it for like 4 years now
it's powered by a 3DS battery
>3DS battery
What's so special about that?
it lasts long
A battery made to power a whole ass portable console is bound to last a lot longer when it has a lower power load to manage
PS5 controllers broadcast signals that inhibit testosterone production. Very battery intensive.
nintendo won
PS5 controllers have Haptic feedback and Adaptive response triggers...so yes it is the best one.

they're also a fantastic fucking way of developing trigger finger syndrome.
1/5th of the quality
Joycon drift charges the batteries.
>ABXY
>BAYX
WHY DID THEY DO IT
because americans are retarded
8? I very much doubt that, PS5 controller is like 4 hours, 5 absolute max
You don't need more than 8 hours. Stop being greedy.
shut up homosexual
some of us actually play games
Has less unnecessary features as they do, so the battery isn't getting sucked dry
Because the polling rate is trash, so it has over >14ms of input lag. DualSense polls at 8000hz.
You don't need polling rates for gameplay...just more useless fancy numbers from a snoy that mean nothing at all.
The average person has literally no reason to care about the polling rate of a controller. 14ms is like a single frame of input lag and the difference of one frame is not noticeable to anyone, no matter what they claim. Because it sends inputs like 10x slower than a Dualsense. Still not as bad as the Wii U Pro though lmao
i dont even notice a difference
Stfu no-standards retard.

Because you only buy poverty batteries. Even my 2 year old rechargeable Duracell batteries last like 15 hours+ WITH rumble enabled and the guide button on lowest brightness.
I just want a Switch Pro controller with inverted analog/d-pad.
I feel like any game before 2020 defaults to Xbox controllers and don't have PS controller support despite saying they do. I have to jump through several hoops to make some games have ps5/ps4 prompts and it annoys me.
If a game isn't on PlayStation, it's rare to have the button icons because Sony has that shit on lockdown.
Because sony knows they can get away with it and fanboys will defend it. I think the PS4 controller had a weaker battery than the PS3 controller yet fanboys didn't care. If your gaming sesh lasts longer than 8 hours, you need to re-evaluate your life.
8 hours home office gaming is normal tho
>xbox ones only do like 8
I haven't exactly measured it but I get a pretty good life time out of each charge.
8 hours is plenty of time to make it through a movie
because the shitch is weaker than a ps2
Low polling rate. Nintendo controllers are pretty shitty for that.
>xbox ones only do like 8
I bought a $10.00 4 pack of batteries over a year ago and get like 40 hours from them before swapping
I can use my Pro for days without charging but my PS4 controller gets low if I'm just playing for a few hours
annoying
As long as I have a usb c port I don't care
Because nintentoddlers dont have headphones.
I couldn’t imagine playing with a gamepad that doesnt have 3.5 mm headphone jack.
Spyware

I forgot to post my kot
