Even putting that aside, the game just looked so empty and lifeless last we saw it. There's no way that game is going to take off, especially for a new IP. The fact they keep delaying it is likely raising the costs a lot as well.

Way too much of a burden. Nintendo would mainly want Creative Business Unit II and its IPs, and I'm not sure how they'd negotiate that kind of deal. That's not even getting into non-video game content Square Enix owns right now.

Hey, if it works, it works. Though I wonder how much extra Sony will have to pay to keep developers from leaving. Sony paid 2.4 billion for Bungie, and an addition 1.2 billion to keep them from quitting. Square's market cap is around 5 billion, so a 12 billion buyout doesn't sound unreasonable. Add an additional 4-5 billion to keep employee retention and suddenly Square doesn't really seem that worth anymore.

Ffxiv has a surprising amount of rape in it, first dungeon is a rape cave full of pirates, arcanist guild girl got raped, some refugee got raped in a msq, one of the main villains got raped so much she started to kill everyone in her country when she got the chance and the knights in the dark knight quests was going to rape the poor girl.

They might just end up piecemealing the studios. Sony buys stake Creative 1 and 3 since they are doing Sony exclusives, Nintendo buys stake in Team Asano.

Nintendo doesnt buy anybody unless its somebody very close. They didnt buy Rare, they didnt buy Cing, they didnt buy Alphadream, they sure as hell will never buy anybody huge like Capcom, Bamco or Squeenix, but they will buy someone smaller and already developed a relationship like Next Level Games. That's just how their mind works, they dont believe in buying studios unless they feel like it.

Do you think Nintendo would want to lose out on one of its strongest third-party partnerships? If you're going to make the argument about ownership, then why do any of the console makers make deals with third-parties in the first place?

Why would a game that is primarily popular in japan not be on the only console that is popular in japan?

  30. 2 years ago
    Anonymous

they're unlikely to sell, and while nintendo could afford where sony couldn't they wouldn't get much out of it since the vast majority of the company still involved in video games is oriented around high-spec upper tier development or mobile live service. they do very little that's relevant to nintendo's nvidia tablet route and would probably just frick off elsewhere rather than try to re-orient themselves, so they'd need to just trash most of the company and make the purchase worthless beyond an IP back catalog that they'd also continue to sit on.
