They still make the best switches on the market. They're just declining in popularity as small hitboxes have been gaining ground and people want dem compact mechanical switches

Tactile buttons feel a lot better to me. I use Sanwa buttons because they came with my stick but I don't really see the appeal.

    They are Virtua Fighter controls.
They never should have been marketed as the controls for classic SF and KOF.
Something got lost in the translation in the mid-2000s.

every sf3 cab i have played on has sanwa buttons lol

That's due to the popularity of Sanwa flowing backwards from SFIV TE sticks and vewlix cabinets using Sanwa.
Before SFIV the standard for Capcom Impress cabinets like you'd find 3S in was Seimitsu PS-15 buttons.

Now Impress cabinets are uncommon and you find 3S in Sega cabinets mostly. With Sanwa buttons.

I prefer using mechanical keyboard switches. Currently using box jades in my box.

I can only speak from personal experience, but I have a sanwa joystick and I can't consistently do a "dragon punch" input without it registering a "forward" input at the end. Letting go of the joystick when it's in the down-forward position causes it to register a "forward" before returning to neutral. Is that normal, or is my stick just defective?

It's normal. Some people use that extra forward input for their advantage in tekken

Good to know, thanks! I might give my arcade stick another try sometime.

On an LS-32 in training mode I can hit perfect DP motions with no extra inputs.
Real life matches is another story...

I don't like Seimitsu buttons. I LIKE how easy Sanwa are to press. I even rest my fingers on the buttons. It trains you for better control of your fingers.

Consoomer culture, people want to use mechanical keyswitches for the extra degree of customization and flex points. Also, most people buying sticks now never spent serious time at an arcade, so they arent nostalgic for certain buttons/feels
