Video games don't even give you that.

I can't say I have this problem. When I was younger I was hooked, now I can't stand playing a game for more than an hour per sitting. These days I spend more time discussing games than I do playing them and am more interested in gamedev than anything.

You can spend your adolesence playing vidya and still graduate from college, have a career, a house, a marriage, etc. These are not difficult things to achieve with modest effort. I know because I did it, a lot of the people I knew growing up did too. I also played Pillars of Eternity, Dragon Age Origins, Mass Effect 1, Andromeda, Fallout 3 and New Vegas. On top of the countless jRPGs I played from a previous age. I might have placed 500 hours on DAO alone. Recently I tried Pathfinder Kingmaker (PS5) but the early segment and its gameplay mechanics is really really complicated to me. I might try it out again
