Why is everyone excited about Elden Rings Expansion?

Everyone has been sucking up to Fromsoft about their previous DLCs, but the reality is that all of their previous DLCs were around 5-7 hours long at most each for all Dark Souls games, the same is most likely to happen with Elden Ring when people are expecting a expansion that is bigger than the actual game itself.

i think the majority of people are going to be disappointed due to this.

no one thinks like this, it's obviously not going to be bigger than the main game.

people are just looking forward for more elden ring content, simple as

Anyone genuinely expecting a huge new campaign has set their expectations unreasonable levels and will be disappointed
I wouldn't be surprised if it was longer than dlc in previous games just because the areas are larger/more spread out like the vanilla game, but it's not going to be a seperate 40 hour continent of content
Looking forward to the new weapons and magic either way, they've always added some fun and cool stuff

Their other DLCs were called DLCs, not Expansions. Expansions usually imply a lot more content.

    >when people are expecting a expansion that is bigger than the actual game itself.
Haven't seen or heard this anywhere, maybe get tested for Schizophrenia.

No? At the very least, The Old Hunters was referred to as an expansion in marketing. And DLC/Expansion are used often interchangeably when appropriate, such as when it comes to Souls games whose DLCs are all expansions.

Can't really blame them though, people have been waiting for a full year of any news about it and FromSoft never took this long to release their DLCs. The fact that it's still unfinished and possibly released next year at the latest made people speculate on how meaty the content is to justify 1-2 years of dev time. Though, yeah i never see anyone got so excited about an expansion pack since The Witcher 3.

    >Ganker starts out by “innocently” questioning why
    >this turns into scorn then demonic levels of hatred as Ganker cannot fathom and is terrified of people enjoying something that they cant
    >rather than accept this they double down on every negative aspect
Being unable to empathize or at least understand surface level emotions is a sign of crippling autism or at the worst, being so much of a troglodyte that a chimp would give you a funny look.

    >big/long = good

their dlc usually, no, 100% of the time, included some of the best bosses in the games. so that's exciting. also new weapons to smash stuff with is always cool too.

They should've fix the main game instead of creating a new area prove me wrong. They should've add more bosses in dungeons, every dungeon should have unique boss or at least reskin.

Every dungeon boss encounter is unique tho

Most of them are literally just mobs with bigger health bar.
Also there are repeats like cemetery shades.

Strange that ER didn't go for Chalice Dungeon 2.0 for the generic dungeons. I fully expected that the game would implement it.

DLCs are regularly the best content in Souls games.
Shit Swamp 3 dropped the ball pretty hard with spamming more swamps and archers/artillery sections but people liked the bosses well enough.

fromsoft usually runs out of time with their main games because of publishers and their management being dogshit. Their DLCs are usually more complete - include cooler weapons, spells, bosses etc.

You don't need fp efficiency for boss fights, and dps is better, which is why there's spells purposefully good for mobs and spells for bosses

Not read a single anon say anything remotely like that wtf.
I, and seemingly a lot of others, do expect it to be a lot bigger than previous dlc though. Mainly three things that make people believe this
    1) ER is much much bigger than any of the previous games, so most logical thing for DLC would be an entire new are aka Limgrave or Caelid and not just a dungeon
    2) Dataminers claim the changes made through patches indicate the DLC is going to be huge in terms of size/content
    3) For some reason Fromsoft called it "expansion" when they always used DLC before with the other games. Could just be a coincidence, but seems odd so some speculate they call it that because it's much bigger than a normal DLC and acts more like how a traditional expansion pack worked (in terms of size) before DLC and MTX became the standard.

Also the fact that this expansion took them more than a year to make which is unprecedented given FS track record.

No one is saying that it will be as big as the main game itself.
That said, yeah, the expansion will probably be very big, mostly because Elden Ring design philosophy is quite different from the other games, and the expansion is looking for a 2 year long development when in the other games even in the cases of ds2 and ds3 with 3 dlc, they don't even reach 1 year of development between all of them.
I expected it to have 2-3 main areas with 3 legacy dungeons.

I had spent months thinking and fantazising, checking almost every day for news about it, but about a week prior to the anniversary event my hope for dlc died.
I realized how fucked up it had made me, just how much time and energy i had wasted on in, posting about it, planning my new pc just so i could run it. I saw how insane it was to get this invested in a fucking game and I just... let it all go.
When the official announcement then came I felt nothing, no excitement, no anger over them waiting this long for an announcement, no impulse to let it occupy my mind in any way, just.. nothing.
It was just "oh, ok. It comes when it comes and it'll be what it'll be. Maybe I'll play it, maybe i won't".
It felt surprisingly tranquil and zen.

It's about DLCs for From games always being the final masterstroke that elevates those games into evergreen masterpieces. Exception being Sekiro, because that game is already pretty much perfect and Miyazaki's Magnum Opus.

DLCs add the crucial lore, weapons, armor sets, and the best boss fights, enhancing PvE and PvP content.
