literally just play the levels on the red doors/rockets and you'll have fun. Then when you're done with the base game just go for the non-braindead easy moons, there's plenty of good ones

This thread is actually about expressing confusion over how Sonic fans are so autistic they cannot discern what is and isn't intended to be funny. It is legitimately fascinating how, for five years now, the Sonicgays on twitter have brought up Odyssey as some kind of gotcha. The fact that Mario is literally human and then comes across realistic humans in a city run by a cartoon human in a world of cartoon characters, is meant to be fricking funny.
They had concept art of more Mario-esque New Donker designs, but they thought the realistic ones were funnier. The New Donkers do not look realistic because they wanted a Final Fantasy Mario story. Goofy cartoon characters and areas are all over Odyssey. The two instances of art direction shift, NDC and Lord of Lightning, are supposed to contrast heavily. I am repeating this in as many ways as possible and they still won't get it. Some guy is reading this post and thinking about replying with some bait still pretending to be an obtuse Sonicgay. Typically Sonic 06 is the point of comparison but I guess Frontiers is now taking point, which will probably suffer from this problem to a much lesser degree but we'll have to see.
Basically, if Mario had made the same mistake as Sonic, then Bowser would have textures reminiscent of the Lord of Lightning, the same way Eggman was made realistic in 06.

I've been feeling so fricking autistic about Sonic Frontiers and Sonic in general lately. I know the trailers don't make it look amazing but I'm still holding out hope that it will be fun.
I was a was a huge sonic gay as a kid around Adventure and shit, but this is the most I've cared about the character in like 18 years. I might even start rereading the Archie comics.
The facets of Mario Odyssey's identity are so incohesive that it feels soulless. When a dinosaur chases Mario down city streets with all 3 having distinct art styles you get the impression that it was strung together in a boardroom rather than the result of passion

The animation work is what sells it. He still comes off docile and friendly like a Mario character should.
