Why is quadrupedal Quagsire considered to be a completely different mon instead of just being a regional form?

open its mouth and show whale teeth and you've got an alternate wailmer design right there

And that's a good thing (or at least better than it looking like a gen 8 mon).

literally just sitting down except for the larger and wider body, the spots where spikes come out as opposed to quagsires fins, the larger more bulbous tail, and the different colour scheme you thick cunt, but besides that identical pal yeah

^this, same reason why Frolass isn't considered "regional"

I like those designs but they could be easily from different lines.

The difference between Glalie and Froslass is way, way more drastic than the difference between Quagsire and Clodsire

          Anonymous

it really isn't when you realize that Glalie is the black ball inside ice and Froslass is the purple ball convered in robes

          >but muh hands
          it's a ghost type

Why is quadrupedal Quagsire considered to be a completely different mon instead of just being a regional form?

I agree, it just feels like a regional form, it simply isnt different enough, its just lazy quagsire.

Laziness. Same with most of the rest of the regional evolutions, they're almost all just modified versions of either the Pokémon they evolved from or the evolution they're an alternative to.

Looks nice, goofy as expected but it feels more oldschool than all these retarded zoomer designs since gen 7

Some anon was saying that it's supposed to be a ribbed newt.

    >ribbed newts poke their ribs through their skin to inoculate poison
    >the white spots of clodsire match that
    >p.wooper has a bone motiff

Most likely it will have some kind of bone poking or something similar out of the white patches.

A ribbed newt is not a spine fish though.

That's just gamefreak being hacks when it comes to the subnames for these, it fits the design perfectly tho.

And Quagsire isn't a water fish. Clodsire is called spine fish simply to relate to Quagsire in the naming scheme.

            Anonymous

But where are the spines? Quagsire lives and shoots water. Where are clodsire's spines?

      > "One species, the Spanish ribbed newt (Pleurodeles waltl), combines its poisonous skin secretions with sharp barbs running along the sides of its body; the barbs are ribs that can be forced through the animal’s skin when threatened."
      I'm impressed by the detail.

regional forms are mostly just recolors or the same design but with one or two things added on

the proportions are completely different so it works better as a new pokemon

Split evos are always way more different

      >belossom
      >vileplume

      >politoed
      >poliwrath

      >glalie
      >frosslass

      >scyther
      >klleaver

      >mothim
      >wormaddam

The opposite is way more uncommon like Gardevoir/Gallade or Slowbro/Slowking

I feel that the distinction between regional forms and split evos was never iron clad and was ultimately up to what the designers decided they should be. Especially now that we have convergent pokemon, perhaps genetics will one day be used as the reason/excuse for what distinguishes a regional form from a split evolution and a completely unrelated convergent pokemon.

With stuff like this and wiggler it’s clear they’re introducing Pokémon that suggest hey are related without being the same species, same way we have Pikachu and the +/- bros, just now it’s being introduced more widely

They have a major fetish for taking older Pokemon and oversimplifying their designs.
Take pretty much any newer variant on an existing Pokemon and guaranteed their limbs will be drawn worse.
