At the very least it seems Valve is still sensible to keep everything below the 1:1 dollar conversion rate. It was just a matter of time because of the trajectory the economy is taking righy now.

No AAA publisher ever actually followed the regional pricing on their new releases in my region since 2020. They charge 59.99 X (currency equivalent to 1 USD) at the time of publishing (rounded off to few units higher or lower to their convenience).

Last time I exploited the regional pricing was when I bought MGSV for a mere 10$ equivalent back when it released on steam. The prices were soon rectified after a week.

          Anonymous

they have until today to adjust, after that if they adjust it they wont be able to participate in the end of year sales since theres a cooldown period from price changes to when you can discount the game

pretty sure prices are already adjusted. most new games are lot more expensive now, around the 500-600 mark (used to be far less before from what I've heard), with some exceptions at the 1000+ mark like mw2 and coh3.
I've spent a little over a 100 dollarydoos thus far and have gotten so much.

the more money supply there is the more expensive things get because theres more money units looking for the same amount of products. couple that with covid lockdowns + war + sanctions left and right and it gets even worse, because then the supply of products decreases while the supply of money chasing this decreasing supply is increasing, increasing prices for everything dramatically

When they print more money, every dollar is worth less. However they can delay this affecting prices by limiting how much of that money gets into the goys hands. In this case that lasted about two years before we started to see the effects. Federal reserve tries to control this by keeping interest rates artificially low but that can’t last otherwise we have another 2008.

In this case, it has nothing to do with ordinary inflation. It's just Steam deciding that it's more important to get the people buying at Argentinian rates to pay the full 1st-worlder prices than it is to vacuum up Turkish and Argentinian pity money.

Kek I can't even buy most of the new AAA games like Persona, Cod WW and other trash. After Russia was sanctioned I unironically got hooked on rpgm games (horrors, hentai and classics) and other indie/AA games I didn't play, they're so fricking cheap and all of the good games are still dirty cheap on steam here.

you know the craziest part of this?
people are shocked by the regional price increase but PUBLISHERS DONT EVEN FRICKING FOLLOW VALVES ADVICE TO BEGIN WITH
so most games are actually way more expensive that the new price recs valve gave

Except Indies and other small groups/publishers who don't give a frick and simply use automatic default ratios because why should they care about some local currency? This leads to higher prices and likely loss of sales but who cares?

It's unfortunately an inevitability. Steam didn't update this shit for years meanwhile in reality the economy was getting fĺushed down the toilet across the world.

      They do
Expect a real price increase proportional to this change. Like this

      > gaben recommends selling 60$ games for 1900 rubles now (was 1080)
      > in reality they were always 2k rubles

for example, 4000 ruble games are coming to Russia soon.

Publishers noticed that argentina and turkey represents a large chunk of the pie chart in terms of country ownership in the past year or so. It turns out that Chinks have been abusing regional pricing on their end making it super easy to change their regions to Turkey and Argentina which is why recently they've reacted by raising prices close to american MSRP and discontinued Turkey and Argentina steam gift cards.
