Frosmoftware heavily finetuned even vanilla equipment before releasing those DLCs so they clearly want to invest a lot in supporting the game rather than going for the trilogy route

It was an improvement over DS2 and also it was complete ludo.
Don't be mistaken, I wish Sekiro has less checkpoint spam and some more interesting shortcuts and world design but it was still better than DS2.

Checkpoint spam is the elephant in the room killing FromSoft games. You have absolutely fantastic dungeons like Raya Lucaria which are completely ruined by how generous they are with checkpoints.

I am also incredibly mad tha thalf of Raya Lucaria is optional so you can just skip the cool level design fuckery and the rooftop area with puppets, I loved that shit what the hell.
Also, Raya Lucaria is an academy, why is the first 40% of it a fucking graveyard lmao I don't get why Fromsoft does that sometimes, some of the most hyped up areas are overshadowed by weird shit, in Bloodborne it's less egregious but I'd rather had a bigger Byrgenwerth building than such a big forest area prior to it, priorities Miyazaki, please...

I swear DS2 is a high intelligence game, which is why so many prefer Sekiro. You and your posts reinforce my theory. Keep up the good work.
I've loved DS2 since release, it's my favorite of the souls games and I truly do 100% believe that Elden Ring is more like it than other From games.
People meme about it being Dark Souls 2(2) and I wholeheartedly believe it.
should i get SOTFS upgrade for $6? Kinda want to replay DS2 on steamdeck but i never finish SOTFS
2 weeks ago
Anonymous
I prefer Scholar but it seems to be pretty mixed among fans of the game.
I would say to play the original first and then try scholar since it's definitely the harder of the two and knowing what you're doing before jumping in will definitely help with some of the more bullshit enemy placements.
I agree content wise it's far closer to DS2 which included a lot more non-dark fantasy elements which ER does too. A lot of the same philosophy went into it when it comes to enemy design etc too.
I think especially combat wise thats a long shot though. ER is more of a natural evolution of DS3 with some sekiro elements, which is pretty far removed from how DS2 played. I personally preferred the "old" souls combat that was more slow and sluggish but to each their own
2 weeks ago
Anonymous
DS2 did combat best because it had a lot of options. Four types of magic, more weapons than any other souls game bar ER, stats including ADP felt more impactful than other games, and it truly felt like you were growing as a player.
Other games it's pretty easy to do a level 1 playthrough but DS2 pushes you. It's slow, it's brutal, and without stats it's dreadful. I like that over DS3 and ER where you can just dodge through everything.
DS2 also has more traps around the world and I like that. It makes you play slow.
Anonymous
DaS2 has a lot of options which is nice but the way the movement and animations work make it feel pretty strange compared to all the others, everything feels sort of floaty and sluggish like you're fighting underwater. DaS1 combat is slow too but it still feels a lot more tightly screwed
2 weeks ago
Anonymous
I agree I liked combat the best in DS2 too, although ti did have shortcomings (wacky animations and hitboxes on some enemies, i.e. the shockwaves meme, overuse of tracking attacks, general lack of polish) the mechanics of it were a straight improvement to DS1.
Having estus be very slow and weak helped the game a lot because it made you focus more on avoiding damage than finding openings to recover, same with rolls being generally kinda bad meant you couldnt just rollspam out of any situation. The lack of polish though again made it kinda hard to appreciate at times
2 weeks ago
Anonymous
Infinite lifegems on top of the like 14 other healing items you can find sort of remove any tension or stakes from a lot of the combat for me, I like DaS2 for other reasons but personally I thought the combat really only starts to shine with some of the tougher enemies and bosses like drakekeepers or the DLC bosses
2 weeks ago
Anonymous
life gems just like estus are pretty slow to use
not really viable to use mid combat in a lot of situations which again forces you to be more methodical with your combat
I don't mind the infinite healing just like I didn't mind it in Demon Souls. I'd prefer it not be there or be more limiting but I think they handled it well enough.
Anonymous
Part of what made DaS1's level design so good was that you really only have estus to heal with, you can use humanity too but that's a precious resource that's better used for other things. With this in mind they were able to design levels around the idea that player only has 5-10 heals, which helps a lot with the pacing of each area and checkpoint spacing. I don't think DaS2 is bad by any means but being able to have 99 of multiple different types of healing items mean a lot of levels are designed to just throw crowds of enemies at you willy nilly without as much thought put into pacing or progression since you can effectively heal as many times as you want
2 weeks ago
Anonymous
It's a common theme in souls games that as they keep making new ones, they powercreep the player for some reason. You're spot on about DS1, the player is very limited in his options to heal and as such gameplay can be very cerebral, strategic, and attrition based rather than >haha this enemy got you good with his hard to dodge attack!
or >haha this encounter got you good with its many enemies!
Then as they keep going they keep making rolls stronger and estus easier to chug mid combat. So in order for bosses to not give you a chance to heal, they must be a LOT faster and harder to dodge which isnt necessarily a good thing for the combat as a whole.
Another related soulslike game that falls for this trap is Remnant 2. Bossfights are a complete oneshot fest full of split second timings because they decided to give players lifesteal and passive regen that will refill your HP bar within 2 seconds. So all the bosses have to be capable of nuking the fuck out of you in less than 2 seconds without giving you a chance to disengage or they're completely trivial
2 weeks ago
Anonymous
yeah the lifegems kinda made the actual levels less dangerous thats true, but I was more talking about how absolutely fucked slow the animation for healing is and how slowly it heals so you can't just facechug shit like in later games, which is one of my biggest complaints about them since it forces bosses to be MUCH more aggressive and hyperactive which fucks with the pacing of the combat, and I enjoyed the slow pacing of souls games
2 weeks ago
Anonymous
To be fair, early on in DaS3 and ER your estus/CT barely heals you at all. It's faster but it's like not even half of your life bar
To be fair, the world of Elden Ring can be quite vast, doesn't mean they will go for it, but samurai is a starter class no?
If they aren't retarded and a trilogy HAS to be made... then they could make settings more inspired by asia again, seeing some Sekiro wouldn't be bad, or add some greek shit in there, or norse, many peopel thought ER was gonna be norse... the real world is big, you can do lots of stuff with it, even more so a fantasy world.
That said, if they make and ER2 and 3 they better give it some times and keep releasing other games like Sekiro and Bloodborne and AC6 that show us new stuff...
But shit, I want a Sekiro 2 too...

They are Miquella's parents so they could be expanded upon
We already knew they were going to make sequels to this like 2 years before it came out. They straight ups aid it was a new IP that would continue for years like Dark Souls did.
Elden Ring actually has potential for a sequel, Dark Souls sequels sucked because DaS1 was already a complete story that didn't need expanding on and had a definitive ending, so all the extra shit they tried to tack on afterward retroactively ruined it
How did it ruin it though? I understand disilusion with DS2 but I think DS3 is fine, it's a what if example of "lmao what fucked up shit will happen here if people never let the fire actually die and the world slowly implodes more and more on itself?"
Anonymous
It ruined it because by the end of DaS1 the story was over. There was nothing left to expand on or explain aside from a few small things that the sequels never address anyway, like Velka's whole deal or the motivations of Kaathe and Frampt. Instead 2 invented the notion of le endless eternally repeating cycle and had its own entire game's worth of lore completely unrelated to the first game, and 3 sort of tried to fix 2 while also pretending it didn't exist, and also adding in a bunch of its own complete nonsense about "angels" and shit and some singularity the world is building toward. None of any of this even existed as ideas when DaS1 came out

dude this comes from DS1
the undead curse was made by Gwyn he linked humanity to the First Flame and then asked Nito to create the Dark Sign

Not even remotely debatable. Except for maybe dark souls the first.
God, Fromsoft debates have to be some of the most retarded shit I ever saw, "this game has soul because (insert retarded arbitrary reason)", "Bro what are you saying?? That game was trash made by the B team!!"
SHUT THE FUCK. When a game is really special and has soul or doesnt, it's a feeling hard to put into words, and the game influences this, sure, but know what also does? personal preference AND the state of mind you were in when you played the game? Wonder why so many people look back fondly on their first Zelda? Or Souls game? Wonder why that game many people criticise online is actually one of your subjective favorites? It's because of THAT.
Skyward Sword to me is the epitome of sould because it's the game I played duyring summer break when I was 10 at my grandmother's house, it was the most comfy time of my life, the time I played Bloodborne and Dark Souls 3 was also comparable, that's why my heart felt so close to those games. back when I pleyed Kekiro first, I liked it but it wasn't quite as good as I'd hoped, I made up some shit in my mind like "the lore is less good" or "it's too short..." but over time, I played the game multiple times in different periods of my life and found a lot to appreciate in there and now it's on my top tier again.
Take shit like that into account morons, instead of just shouting without rhyme or reason.

When did the meme about movies and games needing to have every color within possibility come to life? I am pretty sure the dementia angle was in DS1 too though, just that DS2 tried to be DEEP about it.

Nah it was really simple and tied to its strict metaphysics. You died too much and the Darksign would consume your humanity due to humanity rekindling your soul. State of mind and purpose were little more than placebo effects, which is why humans weren't the only one becoming soulless in the first place.
Then Dark Cringe 2 tried to get all artsy about it with its muh depression 2deep4u bullcrap, even missing the point of how the Curse started, which was Gwyn linking humans to the Fire in order to use their humanity as fuel. Dark Souls 2 destroyed the series lore, and the reason 3 was rushed as fuck and Llyod, Velka, and more lore elements had to be rushed or cut is exactly due to irreparable damage of 2. It's exactly what Mass Effect 2 did to the overarching story of Mass Effect
The game even butchered the concepts of Chaos and Abyss and constantly uses those terms and their spawn in wrong ways and contexts. I also find hilarious how most of its plot is centered around Dragons yet it's just a gay fanfic recycling the concept of Priscilla with Crossbreed Firekeepers, and Nameless King and his rule ended up as a leftover optional miniboss.

I guess holding back info is better what they did with the souls series, ie >fuck we didn't expect this to go on so long... Uh... Everything is a cycle, is that deep enough for you?
Expansion adds new places, new mechanics and story and characters and enemy types and expands upon the combat, TotK tried to something like that but ended up with barebone things from each of said category, so it is essentially a DLC and honestly even some DLCs did more than that in the past.

it does all the things you said an expansion does. You might not like the way it does it but to say that it doesn't do it is retarded
Because they rushed the game out on launch so that they can milk all the ps4 fags for all they're worth. They were still patching in things like npc quests several weeks after launch.
Usually DLC is being worked on months before actual release, with their rushed money grubbing schedule, that went out the door. And remember, even if they do manage to finish the DLC they still have to trim it down and cut all the content needed to fit it onto the decade old PS4.
>Usually DLC is being worked on months before actual release, with their rushed money grubbing schedule, that went out the door.
and creating content before the game has launched, only to keep it hidden so you can sell it for an absurd price after the launch isnt money grubbing?
Elden Ring is Fromsoft's least rushed game by far. It has way more content than the previous games. All the previous games had patches as well. Bugs happen, content gets cut for any number of reasons. In ye olden days the bugs would have stayed bugs and we wouldn't know that any content was even cut.
Companies are still releasing PS4 games in the current year, the idea that Fromsoft needed to rush the game just to release it on last gen is bullshit.
Elden Ring was significantly less greedy than Dark Souls 2 and Dark Souls 3 which both had season passes.

there's literally no reason to buy a ps5 instead of a ps4
Likely both
I think the game is certainly set in the near future considering the Deathblight in the wallpaper is suffucating the burnt erdtree, which gives me a lot of hope for meeting old characters with new questlines too
Normally I thoroughly dislike the "game wars" between completely unrelated games that have replaced console wars as Ganker's preferred form of fanatical trolling, but I really look forward to Shadow of the Erdtree outclassing a DLC sold as a "new" game which took 6 years to develop and was delayed a year because of Elden Ring.
The DLC is undeniably going to be about you going into Miquella's "nightmare" and giving Godwyn the true death that he desired for him, stopping the spread of deathblight throughout the erdtree's roots. Everything we know about the DLC suggests this.
Because unlike all the previous DLCs, they didn't plan this one ahead of time. Originally they were just going to release Elden Ring without any DLC, like with Sekiro, but it got an insane amount of sales so they decided to make a DLC.
Also I wouldn't be surprised if this DLC is bigger than their previous ones because Elden Ring is open world. Based on the art I'm expecting there'll be a whole new region of open world with side content scattered around.
I bet it will be standalone expansion similar to rockstar expansions and I bet it will come on 2nd anniversary of Elden Ring's release, with release date announced at TGA. Or they may even shadow drop it during the show (similar to Hi-fi rush), since fromsoft won't receive any important award category this year and shadow dropping ER expansion would generate incredible buzz (and they don't need to do any marketing, it's fucking elden ring, everyone played it).
I hope there's more Death spells, especially ine that buffs weapons with a FTH/INT elemental scaling so that FTH/INT builds can use more weapons than Light and Flame
When I learned they fucking MELT against holy damage, it made my life so much easier. Even if you don't build for faith, the Holy Water Pots still do a lot of damage.
I hope Covenants are implemented, but not like Souls games, make them grand, turn them into a literal faction war between few parties, maybe 3 factions related to base game and expansions
Death Sorcery build is a bit rough at the start when all you have is rancorcall and your stat allocation is spread thin but once you get the good shit it becomes extremely fun.
I tried it on my fourth playthrough and it was like a completely new experience.
Death sorcery is fun but what I really love about FTH/INT is golden order incantations, discus of light only costs like 3fp to cast, hits twice, goes through enemies, has a pretty long range, and does really good damage. Radagon's rings of light and triple rings of light are two of the best incants in the game too
Here's hoping the DLC has less disposable content on favor of making the actual content more meaningful, I'd rather have 2 caves in the whole game that are cool as hell over the 30 or so caves in the game that are kinda shit.
Also, I am hoping really hard that this expansion also touches on the OG game, Elden Ring is very good, but holy shit it just wasn't finished, I have a list of things I want even if I know it might be unrealistic to ask for:
-Fix the snow areas being so shit and having weird enemy repetiton (Astel 2?? Caelid enemies in the mountains???)
-Make Leyndell have more interesting enemies (currently Leyndell has footsoldiers from the overworld, imagine how worse stormveil would be if it had Godrick Soldiers and knights instead of the falcons, banished knights, and exile soldiers.
- Fix the broken ass and unfinished questlines (half the questlines in the game have been either cut or absolutely cucked and made worse, they are also hard to follow and cryptic as hell I hate that shit).
>Astel makes sense since they're an alien species invading the lands between
Not him and I understand he's not that unique lorewise (and there are others of these things hanging off ceilings which I dont mind) but it just feels cheap and lame to have such a unique bossfight copypasted into some random mine. Like incredibly cheap. Like that boss to me is more memorable than some of the later more major fights yet they just copypasted it.
Imagine if they had copypasted Horah Loux 1:1 into a hero grave and called him Lorah Houx
Hoarah Loax is a person, Astels are just the fully matured forms of fallingstar beasts, which are sort of the "larvae" and you fight at least three of them all over the game. The ones hanging from the ceiling are their pupae
>Hoarah Loax is a person,
Yeah well Lorah Houx is a different person. Just a human after all, just like how Astel is just a cosmic beast that happens to have a 1:1 copy elsewhere.
Do you see why it's still lame even though it's not a lore contradiction?
No, because you fight several fallingstar beasts that you see forming out of impact craters and their hanging metamorphic stages underground, so it can be pretty easily surmised that there are a lot of them around the world. There's no more reason to assume there should only be one Astel than there is to assume there should only be one dragon or erdtree avatar, they're a type of monster

You also come across a lot of humans, so it can be surmised that there are a lot of them in the world.

It really isn't, saying it's not a problem for there to be more than one of a type of monster is not the same as saying one of the most important and distinct characters in the story can be copypasted. You're comparing apples to oranges

It's literally exactly what you're saying about Astel though, do you not understand?
I know astel isnt unqieu lorewise, never said he was. I said it's incredibly cheap to just copypaste a major boss with incredibly unique mechanics and arena and vibe to it, then put him at the end of a random coal mine and change his name slightly.
It's literally no different than putting Horah Loux as a mine boss then changing his name to Old Miner King Lorah Houx or some shit. It's just a human after all, no reason a human that fights the same way as him doesn't exist elsewhere.

>Hoarah Loax is a person,
Yeah well Lorah Houx is a different person. Just a human after all, just like how Astel is just a cosmic beast that happens to have a 1:1 copy elsewhere.
Do you see why it's still lame even though it's not a lore contradiction?
There isn't just one Astel lorewise but the game already made a goob job conveying the fallingstar beast epidemic, Astel felt special, he destroyed an eternal city, and he was right at the end of a huge underground adventure, seeing again a full grown malformed star on a random cave feels fucking lame still and there's no way around it, most people who play these games don't know much of the lore the first time through so even if it might make sense it's still lame and anticlimctic, also, even if you know the lore, many people might think that Astel was a special case, a specially dangerous malformed star that leveled an eternal city, having a copy that's more pwerful on a random cave takes away from that feeling.
Also, THEY make the lore, so it's not an excuse, just give some BS tidbit about how getting to Astel level threat takes really long and is very rare or some shit, or just let us assume that.
Yeah, what you said is spot on, if you want more alien shit, you could simply add another step of evolution before the becoming an Astel but after becomeing a fallingstar beast, however... that would requier effort. And I understand that levels of effort so high are not reasonable, I know that the game is brimming with content and interesting shit to see, but here's the thing, you need to have priorities and you need to asjust the scope of your game, Elden Ring was clearly too ambitious, the sheer size of the game is part of it, I get that, but having so much copypaste because the world is so big, having so many caves and catacombs and repeat bosses... it can't stay interesting forever, and once you reach a certain point, killing the thrid dragon, makes the bossfight with the first dragons LESS special, it makes the boss itself feel worse even though it's the same boss.
Effort, time, and amount of stuff put into something isn't everything, HOW you do it is so very important too, just the same as timing (an example of this is Astel being way more memorable because you stumble upon him after a big underground adventure and not by random in a cave, same boss, but context gives it such a different meaning.).
I wrote assuming that everyone already agreed that this is an Astel, what I meant to say was something between that picrel and this picrel

You don't seem very smart, you've already seen multiple other fallingstars at various stages of evolution by the time you ever see either Astel, and for some reason it's unacceptable that there's more than one? They're literally alien invaders attacking the land, of course there's more than one

they made the name astel too ambiguous. it took me too long to realize "astel" is the name of the animal they are, instead of their actual names lel
>Astel 2??
Same race, Astel is also a developed Fallingstar Beast so not the first time you see more of them >Caelid enemies in the mountains???
Caelid and Mountaintops were the same land before Lands Between broke
You really gonna tell me the monstruous dogs and crows were always there and they were just part of the ecosystem??
They are malformed, the eyes are faded, the fur fallen off, the teeth are deformed, and they ONLY appear in Caelid prior to the mountaintops of the giants. You're gonna tell me they are not a fucked up product of the scarlet rot but rather a normal animal that forsome reason stays in Caelid and the mountaintops?
Mountaintops and Caelid were already linked during the Shattering, which is why lots of animals and dragons fled there

Open world and size has nothing to do with that. All Souls games recycle bosses into minibosses and normal enemies constantly, some of those
>Mountaintops and Caelid were already linked during the Shattering, which is why lots of animals and dragons fled there
A possible way to climb the mountaintops from Caelid before Farum Azula went up into the sky is not enough to explain, also, Farum Azula flew up way before the shattering.
>Open world and size has nothing to do with that. All Souls games recycle bosses into minibosses and normal enemies constantly, some of those
The recycling in ER is way more egregious, recycling ancient dragons, recycling LOTS of "new" dragons, recyling Godrick for Godefroy... seeing normal footsoldiers that have been all over the game up until now feels wrong, seeing Caelid enemies on the mountaintops feels wrong (in them mountaintops there was a good opportunity to make the flame monks into the main enemy type too), two Astel bossfights can MAYBE be forgiven, but having 300 ulcerated tree spirits cannot, the Erdtree avatars work fine as the guardians of minor erdtrees but they should been given more variety into their movesets because they are all almost the same.
>seeing normal footsoldiers that have been all over the game up until now feels wrong
I made a mistake here, what I meant is that the enemies in leyndell are normal footsoldiers and that sucks, and I've said it before in this thread, and I am really surprised that no one else online complains about this because it's stupid.
>The recycling in ER is way more egregious, recycling ancient dragons, recycling LOTS of "new" dragons, recyling Godrick for Godefroy
Recycling most main bosses twice happened for Sekiro and for Dark Souls 3 and with the cut content we know Lorian & Lothric would have appeared twice. The only difference is that one part is optional content

>Recycling most main bosses twice happened for Sekiro and for Dark Souls 3
DS3 doesn't have such a level of reuse AT ALL, Sekiro has Genichiro appear for a moment at the final boss but that doesn't matter because sword saint can stand alone as good enough and Genichiro is just a warm up, the monkey due is forgivable, i forgive some recycling in every souls game, the two Owlm fights have similarities but are also wildly different.
Astel star of darkness does ONE different thing from normal Astel and that's the grab attack, and let's not get into the magma wyrms and dragons and ancient dragons and Godefroy and...
Don't you see bro? Really?
I am a fan of ER too, I LIKE the game, but I want Fromsoft's games to be even better because I'm a FAN, you can't just forgive the crystal clear flaws.
Want an example of really good recycling in ER? Morgott and Margit, Morgott is so different from Margit that they don't even register as the same to me, if anything I am just happy to see Morgott again and show me his new moves that are slightly similar but also different
NTA but I don’t know why it bothers you so much. I agree that Elden Ring does it more often and more obviously and I do think that the open world has a lot to do with it, like if it wasn’t open world we might not be having this conversation. It doesn’t really bother me though since I kind of expect it from Fromsoft, they’re basically the Japanese Bethesda.
Bethesda is worse though obviously, at least there’s clear care for the ideas in Fromsoft games even if they cut corners on enemy variety. Like a bunch of shit in ER is just reskinned shit from previous games.

That this is still the perception still blows my mind considering Elden Ring very literally has the most enemy variety of any game of this type

I’m not counting and it might but I think people’s issue is with their placement and utilization. Previous games weren’t open world so there was a lot of linear progression, at least comparatively, so when you do progress in those games and see new enemies it makes the game feel more “filled out” vs. running into giant dogs and crows again in the mountains like that anon is critical of.
However if that anon is cool with the end of Bloodborne, for example, I’d throw their entire argument out because adding eyes to pigs and switching heads around did not make an interesting end game.

I mean, I am the concept art picrel gay that's criticising the game's recycling but I agree that Elden Ring indubitably has the most enemy variety, the game is fucking huge, but just like dicks, a curve too big is a problem, and so can be a size too grand.

Anyone else get the feeling that in ER all the buildings are slightly more scaled down than they should be? They don't feel like actual houses, the entrances also feel way too small, specially considering the player is supposed to be a manlet compared to most other people, when you go into Stormveil, it feels like a huge catle made for an entire army to defend, when you enter Leyndell... the buildings are uncannily small, so much that it doesn't feel like house of the Royalty at all, same happens in Sellia, and the same happens in Liturgia. The buildings should be like... 20% bigger or something, to feel right.

Holy shit why am I having a stroke writing today? Must be the new keyboard.
There's no source on the actual shape but the Lands Between are sinking due to the Shattering. Liurna has been sinking for example, probably because it was Liurna of the Lakes and used to be land near sea level with large masses of water
The shape and topography of Caelid suggests there was a separation of tectonic plates, confirmed by the lore about infected and not fauna escaping the region towards North after the Battle of Aeonia
>they are also hard to follow and cryptic as hell
I didn't use a guide at any point in ER and had no problem finishing every quest in the game. I had never even come close to doing that on my first playthrough of any souls game.
yes, all I remember was a lot of back and forth between Gowry's shack and wherever Millicent was at that point
don't get me wrong the game is HUGE and I think it benefits from things like quests and NPC triggers being a bit more straight forward
>tfw we will never get a GOTY version of Elden Ring
I DON'T WANT TO PAY FUCKING 60€ FOR A BROKEN GAME WITHOUT UPDATES AND PATCHES ON DISC AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Isn't int confirmed that AC6 will have more content added though? Or did I dream that? AC6 WAS made to create more AC fans though, hope they succeeded with that, the game has at the very least made profits.
Glintstone pebble never stops being a decent option, arc as well. Comet shard is an ok step up from pebble but stuff after that is too slow/has too little tracking to be worth the extra cost and damage imo
Night comet can carry you to the end of the game.
Pest threads is fucking broken and does stupid amounts of damage to end-game bosses.
Carian slicer can be turned into retarded amounts of damage, same with the carian grandeur ash of war you can slap on any sword.
It costs a bit more FP to cast, but bosses aren't programed to dodge it like they dodge arrows or throwing pots.
So you can literally just buff yourself, slap down terra magica, and spam it with almost no issues.
It costs a bit more FP to cast, but bosses aren't programed to dodge it like they dodge arrows or throwing pots.
So you can literally just buff yourself, slap down terra magica, and spam it with almost no issues.
The other benefit is that the Staff of Loss gives it a 30% damage buff, even if it's your off-hand staff. So Night Comet is easily one of the most damaging sorceries when fully charged.
The real answer is that From's DLCs are always the same size proportional to the base game. This is a huge game, so the DLC is also huge. It took a long time to make the base game, so it's taking a long time to make the DLC, as well.
But even then, it should've been out by now, so there must be an additional variable. Either they didn't want to distract from AC6 or they didn't plan on making DLC like they normally do.
No it doesn't, the haligtree is tiny and already dead. It's the erdtree, which we already know is being poisoned and turned black by Godwyn's corpse in its roots
Miyazaki not happy just carbon copying the open world consent from BotW, decided to also try his hand at the "Expansion that got so big we will threat it like a brand new game" thing, you can expect this thing to be released alongside the base game and be threated as a direct sequel just like TotK did , and you know what? it will probably be as good as TotK , you know what they say: if you are going to copy your homework, might as well copy the honor student
First, it's an expansion based on the pricing point and dev cycle - think Old Hunters (which were supposed to be two DLCs but got merged per Sony's decision).
Second, From is the new (old) Blizzard, they set standards that industry can't hope to reach, and can afford to take their time to refine their product. Remember Elden Ring on launch? Fucking perfect. No crashes, very few bugs and glitches. Considering how big that game is, it was an impressive feat that gaming industry tries to condition us to not expect anymore. Same with their other two last games - Sekiro and AC 6. Beautiful and expertly crafted straight on release.
>dogshit fight >gave best guy Radahn Scorpion AIDS >ruins her brothers sacred city and infects everything with Scorpion AIDS >le epic edgy I'm undefeated warrior >dogshit design

I've been thinking, what if Malenia was just reused Tomoe?
The biggest hint is in her waterfowl dance, which is almost a complete replica of Floating Passage
And guess who uses Floating Passage in Sekiro?
Malenia was unveiled with her current design intact like two months after Sekiro came out in the first ER trailer
The notion that she's cut content from a scrapped Sekiro DLC is and has always been retarded
Imagine having to be the poor underpaid Japanese 3D modeler that has to painstakingly sculpt every little detail of Miquella's soft dainty feet as Miyazaki stands behind you, breathing heavily in your ear
>DLC introduces more firearms >more INT/FTH weapons and spells >changes to every zone in the game from minor and major stuff like loot, enemy placements and bosses >new endings including the Age of Absolute
There will undoubtedly be changes to existing zones, because this addition was actually meant to be included in the "first DLC", which was the arena and world changes. However, it was cut and shunted into SotE for whatever reason.
Man i wonder if it will have a really large new area. I could also see them giving a severe makeover to the Lands Between and setting the game in the past. Like even the color palette of each region changing in some way, and dramatic terrain changes. Obviously different enemies and grace/dungeon placements too. They have presumably been working on this since even before the release so its gonna have a couple years of dev time on it.
I'm guessing it'll be the landmass you can see to the north across the water from the Haligtree, it's the only other land you can see from anywhere in the game
Need to figure out how to not break NPC questlines day one so retards think it was totally intentended and headcanon lore around the characters suddenly stopping their questlines
The tree gets replaced in the end with the gigantic erdfoot, and it's taking longer than expected to realistically portray the light reflections in the various level of skin, tissue, and muscle.
What I don't get is how they're gonna fit a corrupted/destroyed Erdtree before or after you burn it.
And if it's just a dream that is a separate zone like the Old Hunters it sucks because then whatever you do in it you will still get the same shitty endings.
The tree is mostly back to normal in most of the endings, in the promo art it looks like Godwyn's deathroot has grown significantly and is starting to take over the whole tree. Seems like the most obvious guess since we already see his corruption causing fucked up black roots covered with eyes to grow up out of the ground all over the game, and if you look above his corpse in Deeproot you can see the giant root he's buried in has turned sickly rotting purplish black like the water around him. You can see it from pretty far away and it's extending far up into the erdtree itself, implying he's slowly poisoning it
I thought the Erdtree was immortal as long as you don't burn the giant flame
Also I don't think either the greater will or its avatar elden beast would stand there idly letting their source of faith and power rot away
The Greater Will doesn't directly act in the world and the Elden Beast is seemingly confined inside the erdtree, it can't go underground to where Godwyn is. The Golden Order is fanatical about destroying deathroot and TWLID but there doesn't seem to be much they can actually do to stop it, just kind of mitigate it. It's already spread all over the world and is only getting worse as time passes, and the nature of Godwyn's current state seems to render him more or less invulnerable. He's neither dead nor alive
Because its an open world area.
Also they didnt want it to compete with AC6
It's not a DLC
It's officially an expansion, and apparently more will come.
whats the difference
It's fucking big and with more unique content
Frosmoftware heavily finetuned even vanilla equipment before releasing those DLCs so they clearly want to invest a lot in supporting the game rather than going for the trilogy route
but is the expansion content that you can download?

Dark Souls 2 team made your breakfast anon
It's not new games, it is new expansions
Fuck off.
Their stench is already plenty noticeable in Elden Ring as it is.
I hope not
Impossible, Elden Ring has good level design
Insanely based and trollpilled. Fact you chuds still seething about is still hilarious
the 'ds2 team' already learn their mistake anon, they made Sekiro remember
which was mediocre but indeed much better than DS2 atleast.
>Sekiro
>Mediocre
yes not a bad game by any means but mediocre it is.
You don't know anything about video games.
i know more than you for sure zoomie
I'm 36, you know nothing about video games. Just go play your fortnite and watch your dbz
nice projection
sorry you cannot take a criticism about your favorite video game.
Calling a game of the year winner merely mediocre isn't remotely valid criticism.
ah yes so it winning GOTY somehow makes it immune to criticism?
look i played Sekiro i did enjoy some of the parts but also hated the others and ultimately gave up somewhere around 60% of the game maybe 70% because the game just keeps repeating itself with not enough variety, the story is also complete ass.
I didn't read your post, you're not worth my time.
thats ok zoom zoom
ts;dr
This explains Sekiro's extremely mediocre and railroaded level design
Raya Lucaria felt incomplete to me.
Checkpoints in the outer world are funny. I can literally SEE another grace from one in Limgrave.
They already were
we can only dream that they take all the concepts of DS2 and implement them into the DLC. It would be heaven
damn it, now I want to fire up DS2 again for another play through....
why would they implement a concept from an entirely different game from a different studio??
Install DS2 Lighting Engine 🙂
>DS2 has 1 single unlimited stamina enemy in the entire game
/v/: wow nice enemy design B team!!
>95% of Elden Ring enemies and bosses are cracked out Bloodborne enemies
/v/: God what a masterpiece
Elden Ring incentivizes aggression and proactive gameplay and has the best combat and ARPG gameplay system From designed so far
Dark Souls 2 doesn't
>Incentivizes aggression
Oh no the microsecond I had to attack didn't stagger it time to lose all my health to the 5 billion attack stun lock!!!
there's a boss version of this moron?
Yes, it's the same as regular ones, but you don't need to change anything to make this piece of shit a boss.
of course my little moron. This is Elden Ring, there's a copypasted side location boss version of literally everything.
>DS2 has some reused bosses from DS1
/v/: wowed nice variety B team!!!
>Every boss and location in DS3 is reused from DS1
>Elden Ring is the same copy and pasted enemies and bosses throughout the whole game
/v/: Absolute masterpieces
You can jump over half its attacks lol, skill issue
>Shart Souls 2 morons get filtered by this
>Dex
You didn't beat the game
>>Dex
you didn't play the game
>>>Dex
You don't exist
it's defeated by basic movement countering all its charged attacks, which is why it filters DS2 rollspam cretins and normalfags that think Souls games are stamina management games
If only there was an area of effect healing spell you could heavily damage and stun it with.
>time to lose all my health to the 5 billion attack stun lock!!!
Just do it back.
I swear DS2 is a high intelligence game, which is why so many prefer Sekiro. You and your posts reinforce my theory. Keep up the good work.
Living helicopter
The B team made Elden Ring frogmoron
No they didn't
I've loved DS2 since release, it's my favorite of the souls games and I truly do 100% believe that Elden Ring is more like it than other From games.
People meme about it being Dark Souls 2(2) and I wholeheartedly believe it.
I like DaS2 but ER really isn't all that much more similar to it than any of the others, it takes elements from all of them
should i get SOTFS upgrade for $6? Kinda want to replay DS2 on steamdeck but i never finish SOTFS
I prefer Scholar but it seems to be pretty mixed among fans of the game.
I would say to play the original first and then try scholar since it's definitely the harder of the two and knowing what you're doing before jumping in will definitely help with some of the more bullshit enemy placements.
already finished DS2 a long time ago
I agree content wise it's far closer to DS2 which included a lot more non-dark fantasy elements which ER does too. A lot of the same philosophy went into it when it comes to enemy design etc too.
I think especially combat wise thats a long shot though. ER is more of a natural evolution of DS3 with some sekiro elements, which is pretty far removed from how DS2 played. I personally preferred the "old" souls combat that was more slow and sluggish but to each their own
DS2 did combat best because it had a lot of options.
DaS2 has a lot of options which is nice but the way the movement and animations work make it feel pretty strange compared to all the others, everything feels sort of floaty and sluggish like you're fighting underwater. DaS1 combat is slow too but it still feels a lot more tightly screwed
Infinite lifegems on top of the like 14 other healing items you can find sort of remove any tension or stakes from a lot of the combat for me, I like DaS2 for other reasons but personally I thought the combat really only starts to shine with some of the tougher enemies and bosses like drakekeepers or the DLC bosses
life gems just like estus are pretty slow to use
not really viable to use mid combat in a lot of situations which again forces you to be more methodical with your combat
I don't mind the infinite healing just like I didn't mind it in Demon Souls. I'd prefer it not be there or be more limiting but I think they handled it well enough.
It's a common theme in souls games that as they keep making new ones, they powercreep the player for some reason. You're spot on about DS1, the player is very limited in his options to heal and as such gameplay can be very cerebral, strategic, and attrition based rather than
>haha this enemy got you good with his hard to dodge attack!
or
>haha this encounter got you good with its many enemies!
So all the bosses have to be capable of nuking the fuck out of you in less than 2 seconds without giving you a chance to disengage or they're completely trivial
yeah the lifegems kinda made the actual levels less dangerous thats true, but I was more talking about how absolutely fucked slow the animation for healing is and how slowly it heals so you can't just facechug shit like in later games, which is one of my biggest complaints about them since it forces bosses to be MUCH more aggressive and hyperactive which fucks with the pacing of the combat, and I enjoyed the slow pacing of souls games
To be fair, early on in DaS3 and ER your estus/CT barely heals you at all. It's faster but it's like not even half of your life bar
Old Project Rune leak was talking that Elden Ring will be trilogy based on contract with Bamco
Fuck me I hope that's not true. I love Elden Ring but I am sick of the mideval europe setting.
Maybe something that takes from Greek or Nordic mythos or even something like steampunk. Anything but more knights and castles
But shit, I want a Sekiro 2 too...
please no more norse settings... they're so shit and overdone already
There's nothing to create a trilogy from. There's only Miquella left from the important characters and that will be tied in with the DLC
I'm more interested in Radagon/Marika's deal, it's such an important aspect of the story that goes almost completely unaddressed to the extent that it feels intentional
They are Miquella's parents so they could be expanded upon
We already knew they were going to make sequels to this like 2 years before it came out. They straight ups aid it was a new IP that would continue for years like Dark Souls did.
this is fake and was debunked, it was a translation issue in the knowledge book.
Oh god DAMN IT
Elden Ring doesn’t NEED a sequel FUCK
This is what RUINED Dark Souls (for me)
Let shit be standalone
Elden Ring actually has potential for a sequel, Dark Souls sequels sucked because DaS1 was already a complete story that didn't need expanding on and had a definitive ending, so all the extra shit they tried to tack on afterward retroactively ruined it
How did it ruin it though? I understand disilusion with DS2 but I think DS3 is fine, it's a what if example of "lmao what fucked up shit will happen here if people never let the fire actually die and the world slowly implodes more and more on itself?"
None of any of this even existed as ideas when DaS1 came out
2's lore is completly fine
the Scholar of the First Sin ending is pure kino and wraps the Souls lore perfectly
>humanity locked in a cicle created by long lost gods now finds it's way
DS3 is the one that sucks because it was a cashgrab shoehorned in
at least Fromsoftware was able to take risks like Sekiro with all the money they took from normies with DS3
I thought Sekiro and AC VI were le zoomer cashgrab tho?????? Ganker told me that!!!
DS3 and Elden Ring are Fromsoftware's best sellers by far
AC6 likely outsold DS3
>2's lore is completly fine
In a vacuum, sure. I think 2 works fine on its own, but it has almost nothing to do with 1 and the connections it does try to draw are total nonsense, like the idea of Gwyn somehow being "responsible" for the undead curse is absolute crap
dude this comes from DS1
the undead curse was made by Gwyn he linked humanity to the First Flame and then asked Nito to create the Dark Sign
Absolute fanfiction, that is never even implied in 1. The undead curse manifests as a result of the first flame starting to fade because the dark soul gets stronger as the others get weaker, nothing more
Sekiro is the normie cashgrab though.
No it isn’t. Sekiro has the most heart and soul out of any of their games. It sticks to their roots and has the best (immediate) story, as though it were a family of characters.
>Sekiro has the most heart and soul out of any of their games
debatable
Not even remotely debatable. Except for maybe dark souls the first.
It is definitely debatable. Sekiro is held back by having to be “soulslike” at all when it could have been its own thing with its story entirely upfront. I agree it’s probably the best “soulslike” though, however I liked ER a lot
Take shit like that into account morons, instead of just shouting without rhyme or reason.
stfu gay
Bloodborne is the best soulsborne objectively, regardless of how you feel in life or some gay shit
Bloodborne is very good too and it has my favorite lore but stop being a gay.
Bloodbornefags literally cannot stop being gays because Bloodborne was their intro to “”Lovecraftian” anything and think Fromsoft are some kind of masters of eldritch horror
>babby's first [blank]
situation
I think Fromsoft did it real good though, I will never read a gayass Lovecraft book and I know the fishing hamlet is an innsmouth reference but the fishing hamlet is way more badass.
I absolutely love Elden ring but I can still see how Bloodborne might be a lot of people’s favorite fromsoft game still. The atmosphere combined with the insanely cool weapons and armor and truly nightmarish environments is too good. Dark souls is good for same reasons but there’s something about Bloodborne that makes it so much more awesome.
I haven’t read Lovecraft stories outside a handful either and also think Fishing Hamlet was cool but Bloodborne is like Lovecraft bullshit with shounen action to interest people who say shit like
>gayass Lovecraft book
like HP Lovecraft used to walk around with cyanide in case an immigrant touched him, he was a nutjob living out his own horror fantasies inside his head, not a gayass.
Also werewolves are fucking gay and lame.
Bro this is Ganker, obviously I am not prejudiced enough to jusge Lovecraft when I haven't ever read a book of his, I sad "gayass" for comedic effect, same reason I say gay or moron for comedic effect, this is Ganker.
Also Bloodborne made vampires and werewolves badass have a nice day.
>lel youtube moron
>lel comedic effect
Yeah whatever, Bloodborne is derivative as fuck and made nothing cooler. You’re just a gay who enjoys what is basically a deviantart tier fan take on the concepts of others.
Dark Souls and Elden Ring are medieval deviant art shit and Sekiro is Japan Sengoku deviantart shit too then you little gay ethiopian child?
>literally hours away from dying to some disease
>still gets up to kick your ass
Correct, glad we’ve come to this understanding.
but really at least 50% of Bloodborne is visually dull gay bullshit and it’s probably my least favorite Soulshit game because it wasn’t babby’s first Lovecraft reference for me
Holy shit, "Bloodborne looks bland and boring" was something I never thought I'd read.
>Inb4 some gay rainbow fan fag comes here and complains about le "too dark and gray 4 me" shit
>lel Big Ben and pointy buildings with a gray sky
This is just your average british hellhole, anon
I don’t think those themes are as forefront as you might be implying and it still wouldn’t elevate the game higher for me
When did the meme about movies and games needing to have every color within possibility come to life? Don't get me wrong, certain games in the 2000s sinned of looking muddy and dark all the fucking time for no reasonm, but I also see this criticism for many games that don't deserve it at all. And just because a game happens at night and is very dark doesn't mean it's bad, and I say this knowing that Bloodborne doesn't even have that to deal with.
I don’t care about colors, I was just focusing on the image you used as example of Bloodborne being visually interesting. There’s definitely locations I loved but I didn’t really care about most of the main city.
Maybe a lot of the game is just superficial
every Fromsoft fan has that game they dislike for some reason don't they, every single person I've talked to or seen play something From made, they are like "yeah every game is a banger but DS3", "I love From games but Sekiro parrying is gay and I didn't care for the world", "Elden Ring just lacks something the other games have, no sovl", yada yada.
That’s gonna happen when all the games follow a sort of “formula”
half the things you say sound "intelligent" but make absolutely no sense. why would that explain their dislike for one particular game of the series?
If all the games are extremely similar then the players will naturally have a preference towards one or the other based on minute differences.
Like Zelda games.
>how come you talk so smart
Not a great argument for Bloodborne’s depth
I like em all. except the demon souls demake but thats not fromsoft and goes without saying.
I think they're all pretty objectively good games but Sekiro and DaS3 are probably my least favorite
>Maybe a lot of the game is just superficial
I unironically think you've been filtered
I played like 500 hours of it over multiple playthroughs so definitely not. Feel free to cope.
LMAO 500 hours to decide you dont like a game? theres nothing more to say to you anon, you already lose by living in the mental hell you create for yourself.
I do like it though. It’s just probably my least favorite.
Feel free to cope.
>lel monster disease
>lel injecting ourselves with blood we found in lel crypt
>btw this baby at the very end is totally relevant the whole time I swear
Bloodbornefags won’t even not be fags
the entirety of the events of the game, from the perspective of the great ones, is motivated by their desire to procreate and their inability to produce viable offspring. that's what happened with them and Queen Yharnam and the pthumerians and that's, again, their motivation during your playthrough. the second the eldrith horrors descend on Yharnam they start getting all available women pregnant. the dlc tells the story of Kos, a great one that washed ashore carrying a child which was forcibly taken from the insides of her mother by the hunters to experiment on him. the hunter's curse is Kos' revenge for this affront. in the true ending the player is reborn as an old one after consuming three eldritch umbilical cords, thus effectively bypassing the limitations of normal procreation and bruteforcing humanity's next evolutionary step
if all you got out of Bloodborne's plot and lore is lol blood lol monsters then you were quite literally filtered, no other way to describe it
500 hours and still doesn't understand Bloodborne
they are THE main theme of the game if you go past the superficial
They’re literally mentally ill
>how dare these plebs not enjoy lel epic goth buildings and statues
>*tips top hat*
Gay
you are retarded gay. Truly pity you. hope one day you are worthy of finding the meaning of peace.
Whatever ESL, I bet you own graphic tees with
>da huntah must hunt
on it like a real social reject
stop talking like a retard you dumb gay. stop acting like like an animal.
Says the ESL animal squealing at me because I don’t like its gay little werewolf game as much as it. Bloodbornefags are the only consistently embarrassing soulshit fans for certain and I should probably start calling you Bloodbornemorons considering the behavioral problems you all have.
its fine if you dont like it, not everything in this world is for everyone. although theres reason to be such a retarded gay such yourself. I just know that your life is shit simply because you are always here calling others esl and trying to create discord. you are literally a parasite. scum. a big dumb retarded gay. and your life is hell simply because theres no way someone who is truly liberated and at peace would bother being such a massive gay. so you see, you lose.
Sounds like a projection, ESL sperg. Again, Bloodbornemorons are the only consistently embarrassing soulshit fans and it’s for posts like yours which I am screencapping for posterity right now.
>no see the punchline is the whole game! It’s obviously too deep for you
Delusional. This is why there’s rabbit furfag trannies demaking this one. Something about Bloodborne attracts the lowest common denominator of “human” life.
continue to fill your head with stupid shit until you finally decide to have a nice day. you lose by default, gay. by your own doing.
>YOU LOSE YOU LOSE!!!!AAAAAAAAAAHHHH
Embarrassing, furfag chud ESL
yes you lose by being a retarded gay. not even ironically would I be this insufferable. You are a mentally ill shit stain.
>AHHHH AHHH AHHHH!!
Retarded ESL tranimal
>You’re a retard because you refuse to buy into my delusion where my beloved themes aren’t just the tail end of the game!!
Retarded pseud tranimal. Certainly doing nothing to elevate my opinion of babby’s first Lovecraft reference fest
this bro posing as a well read intellectual thought baby mergo was the first and only reference to birth and reproduction in a game littered with them and STILL doesn't understand Bloodborne
The only one pretending to be intelligent here is you, pseud. Bloodborne simply isn’t as intricate and deep and you’d like to believe. Maybe pick up a book.
>NO U
Is that REALLY your final cope, ESL tranimal? Bloodbornemorons are demonstrably more gay, trans, and furry.
never even once I claimed Bloodborne was particularly deep or intrincate. my whole point is that it takes a special kind of retard such as yourself to NOT get that birth and reproduction might be one of the core themes of the game, if not THE theme.
Nothing you’ve said to me ITT is new information, and I barely skimmed your angry info dumps. This entire rant of yours was a pathetic cope over Bloodborne being not derivative over
>muh themes of birth and motherhood
even though making this retarded argument is reductive of all the pacing and build-up of information the game gives you over time. Bloodbornemorons are truly determined to be looked down upon.
>this retarded argument is reductive of all the pacing and build-up of information the game gives you over time
the fuck does that even mean you fucking pseud?
>Bloodborne took Lovecraft themes therefore is derivative therefore is mediocre.
Bloodborne has to be the best Lovecraft themed thing thats not made by Lovecraft, every other game, show, or movie is lame in comparison. I dont get this vendetta you have against Bloodborne, ESL, or transgender individuals, everyone else agrees Bloodborne is great why so hellbent on belittling it? The 30 fps cap?
Who is everyone? The voices in your head? The fags in this thread? Either way those are embarrassing allies
You already have gyno
Might as well get on E
You seem well educated about the process, gets the noggin joggin
Retard lol, I’m certain I understand Bloodborne more than you do considering you can barely read.
You’re a transgender in denial
You know it to be true
Last on that m’am
Bro who did this to you
Bloodbornemorons did by souring my opinion of a game I originally thought was alright after years of embarrassing behavior online and off
That sounds a bit retarded
Bloodborne doesnt have a particularly egregious community compared to anything else, it just aint your cup of tea
The content of this thread disproves that, not to mention every Bloodbornemoron Ive had the misfortune of tolerating IRL
the theme is obvious to everyone with half a brain that finishes the game. there's tons of references to reproductive organs, birth, abortion and menstrual cycles. practically all the lore notes after Byrgenwerth (so, after the veil falls and the great ones are revealed) speak of newborns and children. the most visible since it's placed next to a necessary, unmissable key item literally states that "when the Great Ones descend, a womb will be blessed with child." this isn't some obscured facet of the lore, you're just fucking retarded.
What was he cooking?
I've never seen a Lovecraftian horror story tackle the theme of conception and motherhood like in Bloodborne. as much as it might be derivative in parts, the game revolves around a theme that is completely alien (heh) to most Lovecraftian horror that I know of
>You can't actually kill the Great Ones
>They just go to sleep in the Tomb of the Gods
>Most people complain about muh reused bosses
>Also werewolves are fucking gay and lame.
The day you decided turning into a monster was gay and lame was the day the furries defeated you.
wish Bloodborne was on PC too so we had cool mods that make the beasts into furries and the Yharnamites wear cat ears and shit, representing the slippery slope into degeneracy rather than the beastly scourge, truly poetic.
I never liked werewolves even before i learned about furries (or twilight incase you wanna accuse me of that). It's not a particularily interesting thing just like vampires
If I was more jaded I would even argue it's no accident that werewolf/vampire fandoms are full of extremely cringeworthy people who got swirlies all the way into high school
Whatever cope you’d like to utilize here, furfag. Most of the beasts in Bloodborne are pathetic mooks who run from you.
You CAN'T call me furfag while I'm leveraging my own disgust towards them against you
|
I definitely can, maybe you just hate yourself
Captcha
>DSPANT
i don't hate Sekiro but its fanboys are often quite tarded tbh
I think that goes for all fans of specific Fromsoft titles tbh senpai
maybe
I respect Sekiro enjoyers
but Bloodborne still is the best From game and with the most SOVL
zoomers, the lot of you. King's Field 4 is their best title
I hear Goku has a new form, you should go run and check that out
You mean 3 new forms.
>2's lore is completly fine
>bro fat incel becomes demon because... he just does
>Hollowing is like Joe Biden's dementia, not soul starved being seeking souls
I am pretty sure the dementia angle was in DS1 too though, just that DS2 tried to be DEEP about it.
The souls starved beings seeking souls were the enemies in Demons' Souls.
You just made shit up in your head.
lol do you really have a problem with that existing?
Dude was descended from Izalith's people in part, and that enabled him to be afflicted by their mutation. There, you have a reasonable answer. He wasn't full blooded human and was part Izalith.
>Dude was descended from Izalith's people in part, and that enabled him to be afflicted by their mutation.
Jesus Christ what a shitty fanfic
So the witches just never had sex with any humans ever? Unlikely.
>Years later and a believable explanation
Cool
I don't think DS3 shys away from DS2 at all, and if Miyazaki made a deal for 3 games, then I don't think DS3 did a bad job expanding it, cause at the end of the day that's why they forced DS2 isn't it?
What's wrong with Angels?
It's an asspull that has less than nothing to do with the establoshed setting
That’s right. Dilute your shit. Fuck you. Games have more charm when they’re singular.
Oh shut up you big fucking baby
>no argument
Piss off then.
You didn't make an argument retard, you just had a little spergout
Zoomers treating games like food and being overexposed is a genuine problem today, gay.
There were already 10 Megaman games before you were fucking born you pearl clutching freak, do you really think zoomers invented sequels?
Megamans are just whored out on pixel tracks like old school Sonic. Not real games.
I guess holding back info is better what they did with the souls series, ie
>fuck we didn't expect this to go on so long... Uh... Everything is a cycle, is that deep enough for you?
fucking ZOOMERS MAN
its not even your fault
Think Zelda Tear of the Kingdom.
so a sequel?
that was DLC not even expansion tier.
You know you're wrong, yet you typed that out anyway.
Care to explain why would you pretend to be retarded on the internet?
Yeah you're right...DLC usually adds content, not take it away. So I guess TOTK is even less than that
Expansion adds new places, new mechanics and story and characters and enemy types and expands upon the combat, TotK tried to something like that but ended up with barebone things from each of said category, so it is essentially a DLC and honestly even some DLCs did more than that in the past.
>but ended up with barebone things from each of said category
There's no need to shitpost about something you haven't played.
it does all the things you said an expansion does. You might not like the way it does it but to say that it doesn't do it is retarded
Dlc is like being handed 2 extra cookies. Expansions are being given an entire box of cookies
>zoomers don't know the difference between expansion packs and DLC
>an expansion
Oh fuck I'm gonna coom
I'm going to come.
>expansion
this means they're going to add more game to my game, right?
w-was the original game not enough?
>was the original game not enough?
not even close. They need to add waaay more shit AND do a real NG+ this time. ER is the definition of wasted opportunity
>and apparently more will come.
Source
just more stuff to burn
That’s literally the same thing you fucking moron
gay.
>expansion
if it's not a redesign of mountaintops and consecrated snowfield then it's not worth my time
They're just lazy.
its an Expansion not a DLC so that is why, it will perma break this board forever.
gee I wonder what FROM was developing for the past couple of years
Because it will be the second coming of ludo
Modeling Miquella's feet takes a lot of time.
I’d rather play any Japanese game but these
Because they rushed the game out on launch so that they can milk all the ps4 fags for all they're worth.
Give me ONE reason to cut out the KINO Kale questline that's almost completely functional except for one of the parts.
The only reason you know about Kale quest is data mining. Nothing implies it was ever meant for the base game
There's the potential reason that theym ight have wanted to flesh it out more and change it to tie into the DLC
I can't defend cut content, all I know is that it's almost always repurposed for DLC or other games.
there's literally no reason to buy a ps5 instead of a ps4
youre not wrong but not right either. I like playing ds3 elden ring and ACVI at 60 fps.
Lazy devs can't fix their shitty engine and code.
Shill thread
Expansions almost always took a year to release, back when sequels usually meant updated engine
goyslop containment board when?
yea i sure wish tendies would have their own containtment board.
There's a pokemon board already
You’re already on it.
what
said! You're in it already.
Why so fearful, Zelda bros?
LET HIM COOK
Miyazaki-san, please, at least a small piece of the trailer.
It's not DLC anymore it's gonna be a full sequel.
Do we know if it will modify the base game or is it just an extra area?
Likely both
I think the game is certainly set in the near future considering the Deathblight in the wallpaper is suffucating the burnt erdtree, which gives me a lot of hope for meeting old characters with new questlines too
Miquella is gay
for me
you gay
botw dlc took 6 years
Normally I thoroughly dislike the "game wars" between completely unrelated games that have replaced console wars as Ganker's preferred form of fanatical trolling, but I really look forward to Shadow of the Erdtree outclassing a DLC sold as a "new" game which took 6 years to develop and was delayed a year because of Elden Ring.
Taking bets for Punished Miquella being Prince Lothric-Sulyvahn 2.0
Does the winged sword insignia buff work with catch flame?
It doesn't say DLC anywhere, it says Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree, that means Elden Ring 2
>expansion
Shadow of ACK-tree
We're 100% gonna fight a Godwyn corpse are we
The DLC is undeniably going to be about you going into Miquella's "nightmare" and giving Godwyn the true death that he desired for him, stopping the spread of deathblight throughout the erdtree's roots. Everything we know about the DLC suggests this.
>Giga Godwyn
>Immune to rot, bleed, poison, frost
>Whole arena is covered in deathblight and deathblight thunder
yipee...
fully modeled bussy for Miquella
Because unlike all the previous DLCs, they didn't plan this one ahead of time. Originally they were just going to release Elden Ring without any DLC, like with Sekiro, but it got an insane amount of sales so they decided to make a DLC.
Also I wouldn't be surprised if this DLC is bigger than their previous ones because Elden Ring is open world. Based on the art I'm expecting there'll be a whole new region of open world with side content scattered around.
wasn't it datamined that there were 30 dlc bosses
Let
him
cook
I hate that moron bird so fucking much
I love it it's such a good fight
I feel like it's one of thoseb osses that are easier to fight on foot than on horse
- Fix the broken ass and unfinished questlines (half the questlines in the game have been either cut or absolutely cucked and made worse, they are also hard to follow and cryptic as hell I hate that shit).
yeah they should ditch the chalice dungeon tier cave, by the time i got to the 5th cave i'm already like ugh this again
>(Astel 2
Astel makes sense since they're an alien species invading the lands between
Also someone mentioned that it was a reference to a book
>Hoarah Loax is a person
Never fought Godefroy, I assume?
Yes? What does that change? Godefroy is a clone of Godrick, not Godfrey
So technically no issue with copypasting horah loux and renaming him.
This is a really dumb argument bud
It's the same logic you're using. If you're incapable of understanding why reusing astel isn't good you're autistic
Effort, time, and amount of stuff put into something isn't everything, HOW you do it is so very important too, just the same as timing (an example of this is Astel being way more memorable because you stumble upon him after a big underground adventure and not by random in a cave, same boss, but context gives it such a different meaning.).
>you could simply add another step of evolution before the becoming an Astel
I wrote assuming that everyone already agreed that this is an Astel, what I meant to say was something between that picrel and this picrel
So four separate stages isn't enough? That's "lazy" to you?
moron don't copy paste Astel then.
I already said that I'm not expecting to do more work, I'm expecting them to be smarter with what they work on. Read my posts and stop being a disngenuous fag
You don't seem very smart, you've already seen multiple other fallingstars at various stages of evolution by the time you ever see either Astel, and for some reason it's unacceptable that there's more than one? They're literally alien invaders attacking the land, of course there's more than one
Keep enjoying your recycled shit dude hope you have fun
So why do the aliens have a skeleton face
I dunno, why do skeletons have skeleton faces
they made the name astel too ambiguous. it took me too long to realize "astel" is the name of the animal they are, instead of their actual names lel
The name "Astel" literally translates to "bad star" or something
>-Fix the snow areas being so shit and having weird enemy repetiton (Astel 2?? Caelid enemies in the mountains???)
subhuman retard
>Astel 2??
Same race, Astel is also a developed Fallingstar Beast so not the first time you see more of them
>Caelid enemies in the mountains???
Like a bunch of shit in ER is just reskinned shit from previous games.
>even if they cut corners on enemy variety
That this is still the perception still blows my mind considering Elden Ring very literally has the most enemy variety of any game of this type
I’m not counting and it might but I think people’s issue is with their placement and utilization. Previous games weren’t open world so there was a lot of linear progression, at least comparatively, so when you do progress in those games and see new enemies it makes the game feel more “filled out” vs. running into giant dogs and crows again in the mountains like that anon is critical of.
However if that anon is cool with the end of Bloodborne, for example, I’d throw their entire argument out because adding eyes to pigs and switching heads around did not make an interesting end game.
>even if they cut corners on enemy variety
lol
Not a contribution to discussion, faglord
I mean, I am the concept art picrel gay that's criticising the game's recycling but I agree that Elden Ring indubitably has the most enemy variety, the game is fucking huge, but just like dicks, a curve too big is a problem, and so can be a size too grand.
God I wish we got those locals in those art instead of that shitty """""""lake"""""" of rot that can be beaten in 2 minutes
Yeah, Caelida wasn't made justic, it's quite ugly in game, the artwork is horrible but also beautiful at the same time... check out Sellia too, looked so much better, Fromsoft is really good at sticking to art direction compared to many companies, but ER was a big game...
This image jus tmad eme think of something...
>Lands Between broke
So it used to be a circular continent or something
There's no source on the actual shape but the Lands Between are sinking due to the Shattering. Liurna has been sinking for example, probably because it was Liurna of the Lakes and used to be land near sea level with large masses of water
The shape and topography of Caelid suggests there was a separation of tectonic plates, confirmed by the lore about infected and not fauna escaping the region towards North after the Battle of Aeonia
>they are also hard to follow and cryptic as hell
I didn't use a guide at any point in ER and had no problem finishing every quest in the game. I had never even come close to doing that on my first playthrough of any souls game.
even shit like Miquella's needle?
yes, all I remember was a lot of back and forth between Gowry's shack and wherever Millicent was at that point
don't get me wrong the game is HUGE and I think it benefits from things like quests and NPC triggers being a bit more straight forward
this game need a living city/village at least, something like Majula
How are they going to shoehorn a tiny twink turning into a giant 10 phase boss?
have a nice day gay.
They were busy with Armored Slop 6. They just recently started development.
they silently cancelled it to work on AC6
>tfw we will never get a GOTY version of Elden Ring
I DON'T WANT TO PAY FUCKING 60€ FOR A BROKEN GAME WITHOUT UPDATES AND PATCHES ON DISC AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
I WAITED NOW ALMOST 2 YEARS FOR NOTHING
bro just patch the game
But I don't want to own a unfinished product...
>that Arial/Calibri font on Bloodborne's spine
I will always be mad about this.
>Elden Ring expansion and Dragon’s Dogma II both coming next year.
I’m gonna coom.
finding assets to reuse from their other games is harder than you think
They'll probably merge in some zombie robots now
I still don't know whether I want to start fresh or use my old save. ER is a really big game to replay if you want to go for most bosses.
If you built for Dex and/or INT you didn't beat the game
I don't want to go back to rolling simulator after armored core, but I can't ignore the truth. AC6 won't ever be as popular as soulgayry...
Isn't int confirmed that AC6 will have more content added though? Or did I dream that? AC6 WAS made to create more AC fans though, hope they succeeded with that, the game has at the very least made profits.
Dexter
LANSSEAX WIFE FUCKING WHEN
Any good early/midgame spells?
I'm using the meteorite staff with rock sling
Glintstone pebble never stops being a decent option, arc as well. Comet shard is an ok step up from pebble but stuff after that is too slow/has too little tracking to be worth the extra cost and damage imo
Night comet can carry you to the end of the game.
Pest threads is fucking broken and does stupid amounts of damage to end-game bosses.
Carian slicer can be turned into retarded amounts of damage, same with the carian grandeur ash of war you can slap on any sword.
Is night comet that damaging/cost effective? Should I be using it over cometshard?
It costs a bit more FP to cast, but bosses aren't programed to dodge it like they dodge arrows or throwing pots.
So you can literally just buff yourself, slap down terra magica, and spam it with almost no issues.
Oh shit, I imagined the semi-invisible nature was a player vs player quality
I thought so too. Then I tried it on Godrick for shits and giggles on my 3rd character.
The other benefit is that the Staff of Loss gives it a 30% damage buff, even if it's your off-hand staff. So Night Comet is easily one of the most damaging sorceries when fully charged.
You can get meteor in north Liurnia, I like to use the old carian sword summoning spell you can learn in the church to the east too
The real answer is that From's DLCs are always the same size proportional to the base game.
Because they want armoured core money? Are you fucking retarded????
At this point i'm pretty sure it's gonna be an actual sequel or a standalone expansion at the very least.
they are all fapping to Miquella's in game model instead of working on the expansion.
They are using what’s left over of George’s notes probably
All he did was write a retarded list of names and just picked and chose which were the children of which
Probably because it wasn't planned before ER's release, and then it did gangbusters and Bamco said hey we're gonna need some DLC on this shit.
Astels, Fallingstar Beasts and Malformed Stars are all space raped stars turned into biological weapons by space powers. Probably the Greater Will.
They literally sent Astel to take out a renegade nation. There’s also two of them. It’s as much a name as a type of weapon.
I JUST realized that the artwork represents the Haligtree and not the Erdtree
>I JUST realized that the artwork represents the Haligtree
Are you sure? The Deathroot should be taking over the Erdtree because Godwyn is there
No it doesn't, the haligtree is tiny and already dead. It's the erdtree, which we already know is being poisoned and turned black by Godwyn's corpse in its roots
I thought the erdtree was everlasting and needed the giant flame to get burnt again
Those bosses don't just copypaste themselves.
miquella sex
with Rennala
Miyazaki please, just a whiff
Have patience anon if you rush a miracle worker you’ll just get sloppy miracles
Miyazaki not happy just carbon copying the open world consent from BotW, decided to also try his hand at the "Expansion that got so big we will threat it like a brand new game" thing, you can expect this thing to be released alongside the base game and be threated as a direct sequel just like TotK did , and you know what? it will probably be as good as TotK , you know what they say: if you are going to copy your homework, might as well copy the honor student
Couple of reasons.
Miyazaki San is so based that he would commit senppuku before bowing down to globohomo I just know it
Working on AC6?
ER was in development for like 7 years, maybe more, so not surprising the DLC is taking longer than a year, it's all but guaranteed to be a big one.
Elden Ring was in development for 5 years, made by the Dark Souls 3 team
From what I saw it started in 2016 or very early 2017 and it sounds like it was in talks and prepoduction for even longer.
DS3 released in early 2016
not its dlcs
sellen feet
she is literally ME, we have same taste in men
I really hope that accessing the DLC content is locked behind beating Malenia.
It would make sense thematically, since the DLC is focused on Miquella.
Wouldn’t it make more sense to lock it behind Mohg since Melania is just a big cuck?
>dogshit fight
>gave best guy Radahn Scorpion AIDS
>ruins her brothers sacred city and infects everything with Scorpion AIDS
>le epic edgy I'm undefeated warrior
>dogshit design
I fucking hate that stupid whore
She sucks as a character but I like her design, valkyries are cool
Same, and it doesn’t make it any better that she is clearly discarded Sekiro DLC
I've been thinking, what if Malenia was just reused Tomoe?
The biggest hint is in her waterfowl dance, which is almost a complete replica of Floating Passage
And guess who uses Floating Passage in Sekiro?
She absolutely is, bitch has a shinobi prosthetic basically and attacks that beg to be deflected with L1
>DLC introduces more firearms
>more INT/FTH weapons and spells
>changes to every zone in the game from minor and major stuff like loot, enemy placements and bosses
>new endings including the Age of Absolute
There will undoubtedly be changes to existing zones, because this addition was actually meant to be included in the "first DLC", which was the arena and world changes. However, it was cut and shunted into SotE for whatever reason.
More like shadow of the nerd tree
I hope it's like 2 or 3 GIANT legacy dungeons
The only good level is Godrick castle, other is not as good imo. We need more Godrick tier quality level for dlc
FOREFATHERS ONE AND ALL
so memorable you don't even remember the name?
I think its DEEZ NUTZ
castle right?
True.
I thought Leyndell and Volcano Manor were pretty great areas, but stormveil has so many different side areas and neat shit to find.
Haligtree and Altus Pleatau / Leyndell are the best areas in the game, honestly.
You can appeal it, or just make a new steam, ps4/ps5, or xbone account
Let them cook…
There wasn't going to be a DLC but Bandai kinda forced them into it.
I got banned for using cheat engine to make builds what the FUCK how do I bypass this?
out of curiosity did you make it legitimate or did the stats not match up with the level or something?
It's going to be a launch title for the Switch 2 and run at 60fps.
Why are so many Bloodborne fans transsexuals anyway?
They think turning into a squid is a chud allegory
It might have to do with console exclusivity or something
>so brainwashed by DLC slop and doesnt know what an expansion is
you fucking zoomers are fucking retarded. go play mmos like WoW, FFXIV, or GW2.
Man i wonder if it will have a really large new area. I could also see them giving a severe makeover to the Lands Between and setting the game in the past. Like even the color palette of each region changing in some way, and dramatic terrain changes. Obviously different enemies and grace/dungeon placements too. They have presumably been working on this since even before the release so its gonna have a couple years of dev time on it.
caelid before it got florida'd would be kino
I'm guessing it'll be the landmass you can see to the north across the water from the Haligtree, it's the only other land you can see from anywhere in the game
quality takes time
only fromsoft chads would understand
The DLC will easily double the game size.
Need to figure out how to not break NPC questlines day one so retards think it was totally intentended and headcanon lore around the characters suddenly stopping their questlines
LMAO Why is this retard throwing such a tantrum over Bloodborne? Is this really just some console war bullshit?
The tree gets replaced in the end with the gigantic erdfoot, and it's taking longer than expected to realistically portray the light reflections in the various level of skin, tissue, and muscle.
>Why is the DLC taking so fucking LONG?
Because it takes time to make GOOD DLC's. It's FromSoft not Blizzard, Ubisoft, EA, Rockstar, or Bethesda.
What I don't get is how they're gonna fit a corrupted/destroyed Erdtree before or after you burn it.
And if it's just a dream that is a separate zone like the Old Hunters it sucks because then whatever you do in it you will still get the same shitty endings.
We're probably gonna enter Miquellas dreamworld or something since his physical form is busy getting MOHG'D
Fromsoft loves their inconsequential time travel. DaS1’s DLC was the same with Oolacile
Uuhm, reddit ring threads belong on /r/goyslop
The real question is do I buy it for pc, sex or ps5?
I 100%‘d it on every platform
Miquella's feet
Go to bed Mohg
*raises hand*
who the fuck cares how long it takes, *ahem
>first FS transgender friendly NPC and love interest
He's not transgender
He is. A female born in male body. St Trina is real person, miquella is a social indoctrination
so what's the agreed upon level 1 rules for this game?
I assume no leveling and no summoning, or are we also supposed to refuse Melina's help at the beginning (meaning no Torrent)?
