Why is the rest of the Wasteland so deadly and shitty, full of people trying to kill each other but Appalachia is full of do-gooders and friendly NPCs? In every previous Fallout game, seeing a silhouete in the distance meant troube but here there never really is any danger

Also the Fallout fanbase is autistic and doesn't want to play with other people.
It's all about those Atom Shop dollarydoos. Which have obviously been enough for them not to retire this thing.
I'm sure there will be an Atom Shop in every mainline BGS Fallout game going forward as a result.

        This.

I started the game yesterday since I got it free online. I saw that in order to play in a world alone you have to pay an annual subscription. lol wtf yeah right. get fricked.

so I'm playing in a normal world and random other people are trying to make teams and shit with me. I also figured out you can't save. I'm pretty sure I'm going to abandon this game pretty quickly.

There's also just straight-up quality of life shit that gets paywalled.
When the game first came out, they said they couldn't increase your stash size due to "technical limitations."
Meanwhile if you spend the $10 / month, $100 / year, you get an increased stash size. Which I suppose was the technical limitation.
Not to mention the tents that allow you to scrap shit and make your life just that little bit easier. It's legitimately all about tempting people into spending money in the Atom Shop, they give it away for next to nothing because that's not where the real money is.
People that carry water for this predatory subpar bullshit are amazing. I hope they're getting paid.

I do the opposite and give players all the scrap and ammo they could ever need to bypass the shitty MTX as much as I can for as many as I can.

yeah it's bullshit. it's by in game weight too which fricking sucks. at first I thought it was 1200 items, that would be doable. Nope. 1200 weight.

They've made a frickton of money off of 76, product that really doesn't deserve it.
Even so, having made their money, recouped their losses after the launch, they could engender a lot of goodwill by doing away with these things I've mentioned and giving this stuff to players gratis.
It would require a retooling of the business model, but even so, the fact that they haven't done this is very telling, particularly when their reputation is at an all time low.

I got it for free through my Amazon subscription. Bit the bullet and bough the subscription for a month since I want to play with a friend on a world of our own. A private serves feels much more empty and boring, the only plus side is that you don't get the eye sores that players build randomly around the map and it has one of the worst voice acting and writing in a AAA game i've ever seen

This. It was free for the past month, Hell it might still be free on Xbox and MS Store. They're not going to make it free on their competitor's store.

Fallout 76 is set in an area that wasnt bombed and takes place only 25 years after the bombs were droppe, so people still have hope and optimism and havent been conditioned by the apacolypse yet

I want to put a camp in a nice spot on the cliffs between there and the ash heap, but I wonder if I should wait and see if theres cooler views in the actual expansion itself.

people are saying the whole area has a anti kino weather effect though.

Map is great and probably the best Bethesda has ever done, or at lest a strong contender. Wish the game itself wasn't so moronic

That's true. If there's anything the game has going for it, it's the map.
And I also wish it wasn't trapped in this game.

I do the opposite and give players all the scrap and ammo they could ever need to bypass the shitty MTX as much as I can for as many as I can.

      Doing God's work anon.
I just want people to be aware of how predatory the system is, and it's obviously a test-drive for future projects.
