PCredditors mad over another great console game. You'd think after spending thousands of dollars on the latest GPU or whatever fancy tech shill components they'd at least frick off and go play some vidya but i guess they really don't have shit.

Why would you waste all that money just to settle for playing console games?

    >Rushed and nonexistent story, even by SMT standards
    >Generally rough performance on the Switch, with tons of frame drops and other issues
    >Level scaling sucks ass
    >DLC out the ass, with the proper super boss (Demifiend) locked behind a ten dollar pay wall
    >Garbage dungeons, with the final dungeon being especially awful in how it's basically just walking empty corridors
    >Open world is nice, but you quickly realize that it's just going from one sandy, blasted region to another different colored sandy, blasted region
    >Proper final boss, Lucifer, is locked behind not only a specific ending, but you have to beat Shiva, which means you're so overleveled that he barely even gets to show off certain moves before you blow him to bits
    >No real incentive for replaying the game, such as post-game content, additional powerful bosses, unique endings, or anything

Still loved the game overall, but it's definitely one of the weaker entries in the series. I'm really hoping they take everything they've built with SMTV and put it towards making SMTVI good, maybe going back to the more detailed/dense world similar to SMTIV, and bringing in properly paced storytelling like in Strange Journey. Regardless, SMTV just feels like it was rushed in a lot of ways, like they put everything into getting the demons modeled and the gameplay refined, but forget to make an effort in everything else that matters.

Yeah, I'm pumped to finally play SMTVI when I'm 60 years old. That'll be fun if I can remember how to use a controller throughout my dementia-fueled episodes.

Christ, I thought all the models and engine shit they did in Persona 5 would've made these things come out faster. I mean, we're getting Soul Hackers 2, but still. God I miss the PS2 days where they managed to get like, 10 games out on just that system.

The story is pretty barebone. Just enjoy the level design and the demons banters and waifus.

The story is just a bit too sparse for me. I don't think I've ever played a JRPG that gives less of a shit about its characters than SMTV. Even Octopath Traveler had better interaction between party members. The game is so quick to set them on the path to become God that they don't even have time to pretend to be friends. Characters that receive a not-insignificant amount of attention in pre-release marketing and on the cover art are so inconsequential in the game they might as well not even exist. I'm convinced the game went through rewrites of some kind because the story is all kinds of choppy.

It's a single player RPG with a mediocre story and cast and no DLC, it was never gonna be talked about that long.

It was 10/10 for me, the peak of the monster catching RPG genre. But it's also reviewer cancer, it's impressive it did as well as it did.
