All of them. There's probably some enemy that drops slabs because on my last save I have all my weapons upgraded, with 6 slabs left. Either that or you can exchange candies that drop from zombies to the bird behind Red's house. But don't worry about that, there are no bad weapons and the game is too easy anyway. Weapon upgrades are more important in the sequel but it's also eiser to get them.

            >I mean it's really fricking easy to but still not a certainty.
I think it ultimately comes down to do you just assume it's a scripted loss or actually try. Have to say it really is a bizzare game design choice because this little borderline easter egg weapon is SO disproportionately powerful compared to pretty much everything else that this early game decision you make on a whim has massive ramifications to the rest of your playthrough, because if you get it, you're almost guaranteed going build your playstyle around it since it's just so much better than anything else you'll get for a really really long time, and absolutely is good enough to carry you thru endgame, and kind of discourages experimentation with other stuff since by the time you can get anything that may be competitive you're already very familiar with using it, and it just works

It's probably the best SWORD in the game but if you aren't running a catalyst you're doing it wrong anyway.

everyone agrees BS2 is where Black Souls goes from "pretty alright" to "KINO"

anyone that says otherwise is shitposting and doesnt actually believe what they're saying

I disagree. BS1 did a bunch of things better than BS2, most notably questlines (BS2 really only has the one that you need to get ending F/G) and a lot of the endgame of BS1 is extremely good already.
BS2 is definitely a step up in terms of scale/scope and world but BS1 is already 'KINO'.

            >he completely ignored the bunny suit gifting event to npcs
            NGMI

Why is Requiem so useless? It seems every enemy in DLC3 just straight up ignores it, even the ones like the knights that shouldn't have any kind of dispelling properties to their attacks. At least Onimusha removes buffs and also goes on for so long that the buff would run out naturally anyway.

What are the consequences for failing those 'quests'? Oh what's that, you don't get to use a summon for a single boss fight but otherwise literally nothing changes? Wow, how involved.
The quests in BS1 were not only more involved but also made a much more noticeable impact on the world around you. You're actually delusional and have drank too much "BS1 sucks BS2 is the good one" kool-aid if you are unwilling to accept that one of the things BS1 does better than its sequel is the quests/storylines.

ive been on and off playing black souls 1. defeated hansel and gretel and the musicians of bremen. i am honestly not enjoying this at all. besides the fact that the game offers me to rape or kill who i want, nothing so far stands out above bogstandard RPGmaker shit; and i dont really feel an incentive to kill or rape someone i just met. the "healing" scene also made me cringe - although i dont have a problem with porn games, this was goofy as frick. does it get better or should i skip straight to 2? or dip altogether? i really like the original art but barely saw anything but a few portraits.

you shouldn't play BS for the porn, it's really more for the RPG stuff, when you get to higher levels/dlc bosses the itemization and tactics needed becomes a bit more interesting

that being said BS2 has even better gameplay with lots of interesting weapon swapping and chaining skills to do some OP bullshit to counter equally OP bullshit enemies in the lategame and dlc-ish areas, I will also say that BS2's main quest is to DS3's sidequests what DS3's sidequests are to regular games and that shit is like adventure game moon-logic levels of if you don't use a guide off the bat prepare to miss a shitload of content and have a lot of npcs just like randomly die without warning

as someone who is also currently trying out this game out of interest, the combat is definitely pretty trivial and I feel the same way about a lot of the same things as you do, but I'm a handful of bosses ahead of you (maybe 2-3) and seeing the really weird shit that just pops up is what personally keeps me from playing. I think if it's not your cup of tea you should move on or do whatever you want since I can tell this is definitely not the kind of game for everyone

I don't remember specifically, but I booted up my old save (8+hrs, all DLC bosses beaten) and it's what I still have equipped, and very few other thing ever upgraded

BS2 however I do recall using lots and lots of weapons since you can swap weapons mid-battle and their special attacks can carry over to other weapons (e.g. using something to give yourself critrate, then switching to something that does massive damage etc...)

probably not (and missed a bunch of girls too) because I didn't play with a guide, same with second game; I considered myself 'done' with the game after I beat the old town succ and black goat. In 2; after I beat the whatever big ocean dude and found out by reading a guide that I'd have to replay the game to get the carrol river dlc area I just fricked around in the endless dungeon a bit and then stopped playing.

it was fun and all, but I don't really want to start over and follow a guide line by line, nor am I particularly interested in NG+'ing and 1shotting 99% of things (while following a guide line by line) go get the last few bosses or areas etc...

Sorry, busy right now so I might gloss over shit.
                >what about the Red that is missing in end D?
Red's outside of the garden in her personal ending, and I believe that's the single most important factor in the series regarding general timeline frickery and determining who remembers what happening. After all, we know BS2 Red has zero recollection of C and she's never mentioned the events of D (or even just up to the Shub fight) so far either despite Grimm canonically experiencing both of them. D Red would still be stuck in a collapsing/collapsed garden after the Shub fight (and then rounded up and killed by Mary shortly after presumably), which would directly conflict with the Red that's hit reality already when the timelines merge and unify. BS doesn't seem to do multiple/parallel timeline versions of character existing simultaneously, so the timeline where she's already in reality takes precedence over whatever could possibly happen in D for her. I use a similar rationalization for the reverse route/H shit in BS2.
                >First tea party and Wonderland 1.0, was that Grimm/Prickett, Lewis/Prickett, Lewis/Alice. I lean towards the first
I'm HARD Lewis/Prickett, (though she wasn't called that or looked like that at the time). Don't know why you listed Lewis/Prickett and Lewis/Alice separately though, the real Alice hasn't had any notable role in the original tea party that we know of and Prickett was playing the role of Alice at the tea party.
                >The gap(?) between BS1 and 2

      >Also why does this game has no wiki?
There used to be one, but it got nuked. It's for the best really, exploration and finding things out by yourself is part of the fun

If you're playing this is a plotge (as you should) then the game really only picks up story-wise at the end of BS1. Which sounds bad, unless you treat the two games as one whole of a bigger RPG - it gets good 10 hours into a 50 hour RPG
I know it's bad game design, but it's just the way the story is structured. You have a frickton of little lore tidbits spread through the game, that don't really mean much on their own until you get to the ending, which makes them come together into one cohesive whole, completely recontextualises them and makes the previous parts better in retrospect
BS2 is also where the game itself gets much better. If BS1 is your typical JRPG adventure, BS2 turns into a nonlinear cryptic RPG with horror elements that goes even deeper down the lore rabbit hole. You also get much better, harder combat

I can think of no other game which fits pic related better. RRW (technically the first game in the series, which everyone tells you to skip for a reason) is a genuine 1/10 game with no redeeming qualities. BS1 is a mediocre 5/10 game with a great twist ending which gives context for the previous events. BS2 is a 7/10 game until you get to the base game ending, which opens up the lore can of worms that instantly elevates everything that happened up to that point. And DLC3 is where the combat reaches its peak

gatekeeping knowledge hinders discussion and i dont think thats what loregays intentions were if they truely loved the game.
you have no idea what pure unfiltered autism is needed to truely understand the game. its easily on par with la mulana.
which is ok. its just that loregays get a stiffy of being loremasters and its almost like asking a king for an audience.
and thats all im saying. loregays love their position but hide it behind 'its more fun that way'.

It's not exactly like BS, and a lot of the schizo feeling of the novels is due to the author's usage of archaic terms. BotNS is also "translated" for us, i.e. "horses" being used for things that are similar to horses, but aren't really.

It's still a tier below. At least you can complete Black Souls without esoteric lore knowledge and physical notes, unlike La-Mulana. BS2 has two main "puzzles" which may hinder progress Birdening and ending G requirements, while La-Mulana is chock-full of those
Now, FULLY understanding the lore might be a similar undertaking in terms of effort, but if you're the type to care about that then combing through the game and discussing in the threads will be a joy, rather than a chore

Loregays have made plenty of collages, images, charts, maps, etc. to help explain the lore and universe, all of which are fairly easy to access by either asking or checking the archives. I'll probably make a video on the timeline of the franchise myself at some point.
Going anymore in depth starts to reach deep into speculation/debate so it wouldn't be really accurate enough to be placed in a wiki anyway.

                Ahh, the unholy trinity

IRL references are the hardest part. Some of it is pretty clear, like the treatment Edith/Leopold, Prickett and Lorina receive but some of this stuff has me questioning my sanity and how much of it was actually planned, like pic related
If anyone was responsible for the Grand Guignol’s ascension from a local Parisian sensation to international success, it was the playwright and essayist André de Lorde, known in his lifetime as “the Prince of Terror.” The son of a physician, from an early age de Lorde developed a fascination for all things frightening and morbid. Outside his father’s office, the young de Lorde would listen to the sobs and screams of the patients, imagining in detail the horrifying torments they suffered. Once, to rid his son of his dread and preoccupation with death, the elderly Dr. de Lorde took André to the apartment of a recently deceased man where, as a doctor, he was required to verify his departure. The young de Lorde waited outside the bedroom, watching the women in mourning passing in and out of the room, as they placed funeral candles by the side of the dead man’s body. The future master of horror knew what he envisioned in his mind’s eye was even more terrifying than the sight of an actual corpse. The young de Lorde chose to remain outside. On another occasion, de Lorde’s father forced the boy to keep vigil over his dead grandmother’s body on the evening before the burial. The doctor wished to convince his son, once and for all, not to be afraid of death or pain. But just the opposite happened. De Lorde became obsessed with death—especially of the horrific and painful variety. All his life, de Lorde was haunted by it.

Honestly, when an anon first figured out Sherlock was Leopold and his connection to Edith it blew my mind. Especially how Toro somehow comboed Jack the ripper, Sherlock Holmes, and Leopold all into one character and make it fit.
Your pic is also great, Florence is one of my favorite characters and all the little things attributed to her design.

                >He is engaged to the professor's daughter, Edith, and the Professor is himself engaged to a young lady, Alice Morphy, although he himself is already 61 years of age
I knew about this but didn't mention it. The esoteric knowledge Toro has on fairy tales/western stories is terrifying even as someone who has read through many of them.

I played the series like 2 years ago, 100%ed first game and did one of the endings of the second, just remember getting mad birded and losing almost all my girls and Bills, dont remember much of the ending but did explore everything I could on that route, only did a bit of the labyrinth until i reached a boss that could unequip my gear, but everything was a magical experience overall. Where im going with this is that I want to play the second game again, this time do all there is to do, but I have a few questions I would appreciate if you could spoon feed me, as I couldn't really get the answers when I plyed blindly.
                >How does agility work against late game enemies? Specifically dark spirit invasions and enemies like leviathan which just seemed like no matter how much speed bonus I had, they acted as quick as always. I powered throught the first game and most of the second just outspeedng enemies, but it stoped working in some fights.
                >Related to that question, is there a soft cap for agility? Are there fights where having 999 or 1 speed becomes irrelevant?
                >How do I access the DLCs?
                >Some fights seemed "cheesy" with how op some effects are, that the game almost expects you to use those combos switching weapons constantly, given how some fights beat my shit later on, Im right, or should I stick to a few of them?
                >How exactly do you know when to block, shot and dodge?
                >What is the catch with the pocketwatches that let you take an extra turn? There has to be a catch.
                >Will I miss too much if I played with H scenes turned off? I watched a few of them and some had bits character development, info or lore. Yes im a pussy, but I feel like they ruin the pace of the game.
Thanks for reading my blog, love you.

Speed caps out at like 3-4000. You get no more benefit after that amount.
                >How do I access the DLCs?
DLC 1 is under the sea accessed via the Beach of Grief. DLC 2 is the Chaos Dungeon via the Library. DLC 3 is accessed after end G, cycle, meet Mabel, go near the Oxward elevator that goes to Carroll river where there should be two new mobs and a new path.
                >How exactly do you know when to block, shot and dodge?
Breaks are typically done when the enemy has the corresponding "attack logo". Dodging and blocking are situation dependent
                >What is the catch with the pocketwatches that let you take an extra turn? There has to be a catch.
                No catch, just OP

Keep it on, there are scenes that have lore like you said. Some important scenes will outright be skipped because it was "porn".

Partially that, partially having to do with its approach to cycles (or fragments in WTC's case) and gardens (or gameboards in WTC's case)
For me it's probably more of a gut feeling that connects some of their elements. Our actors on a stage share similarities with the role of being pieces on a witch's gameboard.

                >it must be about relating themes or inspirations
Pretty much. BS, PM and EYE all include confusing first playthroughs, cycles of guilt, villain/anti-hero MCs and dead wives. BS and PM are connected through fairy tales, PM and EYE are connected through israeli lore

                >or are homosexuals just shilling their less popular game
You can basically just chalk it up to this. I'll give Hakika credit for making games quickly with how many assets he has to create for each game, but the actual game quality is lacking throughout, both in terms of gameplay and plot. I'd go so far as to say that he can't write a good ending to save his life.

SEQUEL suffers from the Golden Sun problem where it forces you to sit through meaningless text, in terms of sheer autism and word count BS2 has it beat hands down I'd say, even if it forces the player to sit through a lot less of it there's still far more to find.

Though I suppose it might also be caused by BS players being less likely to buy stuff on DLsite. I can imagine that for many BS players, this is their first H-game and they're less likely to make a DLSite account just to buy one obscure game series. EMMM should really consider putting his (newer) stuff on Steam, if Kagura can do it so can he

SEQUEL is nothing like black souls. The only similarities is that they're both rpgmaker porn games and they have a lot of lore. SEQUEL's deep lore is entirely self referential bullshit because hakika made like fifty games. SEQUEL loregays cream themselves every time he mentions an old character in an item description, reuses a map layout or borrows a few notes from the music he made ten years ago. Hakika even tried to make something closer to black souls with Asylum, but most people hated it.
There's an unspoken alliance between SEQUELgays and BSgays from the /hgg2d/ days and because Hakika and EMMM did an art trade once.
                L.Depth was pretty kino though.

And DLC3 is where the combat reaches its peak

said, the game improves more towards the end when the story comes to a head.
However, if you dont like the game to the point of using a guide or skipping to the second game, just drop it. The second game is even more hostile to the player and around 4x the length. There's also no point in playing it without playing the first game, you'd miss too much.

      >no wiki because i worked hard to get my info and so should others
      >frickton of little lore tidbits spread through the game
      >oh and dont forget that some shit only makes sense if you read the actual fricking IRL books and read about the referenced RL characters on WIKI to understand it
      >what you only like the game and setting and dont want to make a doctoral thesis? well you dont deserve it then. here have a little teaser now frick off
you lore homosexuals are insufferable. the worst kind of people that should never be in a position of influence.

      >no wiki because i worked hard to get my info and so should others
There was a wiki at one point it just got nuked by the host.
Nobody is holding back lore "because they earned it". Besides, no one is stopping you from reading spoilers in threads.
Half the fun of the game is exploring and figuring out shit. You genuinely rob yourself of a good experience by spoiling yourself and good BSgays know that. If you couldn't find joy in exploring the world and pieceing together the story, especially in 2, I have no fricking clue how you even finished the games.

BS1 for all intents and purposes is the "tutorial" of the series or prologue.
The game gets super deep in lore and evolves in gameplay through the story and DLCs.
DLC3 in BS2 is a masterpiece but you won't enjoy it to the fullest without context.

In other words, it gets good after 400 hours.

I dropped it where you are. I'm tired of games where the rabid fanbase insists it gets good 500 hours in, how about just making a good fricking game.

They did make a good fricking game, issue is it's the second fricking game, and the second fricking game is a direct sequel to the first fricking game.

I honestly never got the appeal of the lore angle for these games, I was 100% into them for the gameplay, I have a good enough idea about the lore from superficial observation of "it's spooky grimdark twisted fairy tale stuff" to not really be all that concerned about all the finer details.

I mean it's like wh40k or dark souls, it's a general setting, who cares what the name of the techpriest who made this random space marine's chainsword +3 is and the battle he lost his cousin in that he named it after, or what pontiff sullivan had for lunch on the day they overthrew the gods, it's a mechanics focused game

Shit take, the lore and context is what elevates the game to absolute Kino levels but getting said context is a complete chore.

Also some Anons are right, the fact that you as a player need to read the actual books to get the full picture is very lazy design but it actually makes sense ingame and in lore.

I, for one, enjoy it. There isn't even that much reading to be done, you get 90% of the information just by going through Norton Critical Edition of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, since it also includes Through the Looking-Glass, Hunting of the Snark and Dodgson's biography. Hope the trend continues with the next games. I'm especially hoping for Miltonic influences, seems like the perfect fit for the series

no clue what happens in the others, read some guide after getting those two that described how to get the other ones but never followed up

You can ask either here or on the /vrpg/ thread and I'm sure someone will spoonfeed you but it's probably worth trying to get the 'true' ending yourself in BS1. You just need all the fairy tales and not only are none of them missable, but you can run through a NG+ in like, an hour since you'll be so overpowered.
The goat ending assumed you've done the true ending which is why it didn't make too much sense to you.

yeah I remember reading up about that, also I never met red riding hood, and then upstairs of some boss room there was some dead chick who I was later told would have been a companion if you did some other stuff in a different order

Leaf is God who made the world into a fairy tale land after getting obsessed with them. Jealous of the MC's and Alice's relationship where they'd spend all their time reading and writing stories with each other, she decides she'll make her own story, kills Alice wipes MC's memory, orchestrates the world into her shitty dark souls fanfiction. Everything in the game is just part of Leaf's story including all the horrible endings where the companions get fricked super hard, with things resetting to before the end because she's still having fun with it. Ending C has you learn this, and go kill Leaf with the help of a message left behind by Alice. You rape and choke her to death, everyone and the world becomes revived. This ends up just also being one of her endings and she mocks you for falling for it

Why is Requiem so useless? It seems every enemy in DLC3 just straight up ignores it, even the ones like the knights that shouldn't have any kind of dispelling properties to their attacks. At least Onimusha removes buffs and also goes on for so long that the buff would run out naturally anyway.

Thanks for reading my blog, love you.

      >is there a soft cap for agility?
Yes, you have a soft cap at 1000 speed, though some anon noted how he needed 3000 against certain bosses on his SL1 run
      >How do I access the DLCs?
DLC1 is the underwater area, and preferably you'll want to do it before getting ending G
DLC2 is Chaos Dungeon, do it after ending G
DLC3 is lots of new areas, bosses and lore. Do it after Chaos Dungeon
      >the game almost expects you to use those combos switching weapons constantly, given how some fights beat my shit later on, Im right, or should I stick to a few of them?
You'd be correct, weapon switching is expected of you late game. Base game bosses are all pretty easy when compared to the bullshit DLC3 throws at you. Very difficult, some of the most fun I had with an RPG
      >What is the catch with the pocketwatches that let you take an extra turn? There has to be a catch.
      See pic
      >Will I miss too much if I played with H scenes turned off?
Yes, especially in BS2. Some of them have outright lore dumps in them. Especially ending C in BS1

        >Will I miss too much if I played with H scenes turned off? I watched a few of them and some had bits character development, info or lore. Yes im a pussy, but I feel like they ruin the pace of the game.
Keep it on, there are scenes that have lore like you said. Some important scenes will outright be skipped because it was "porn".

        >How does agility work against late game enemies?
        >Related to that question, is there a soft cap for agility?
There's a soft cap for agility after which neither you nor enemies don't actually gain speed. After you pass it you should always be having your turn first. Leveling agility after that is only useful for weapons that scale with it. The only enemy that can outspeed your first turn from what I remember is in DLC3, but there might be some other gimmick boss that always goes first idk.
        >How do I access the DLCs?
The beach, door on the right side of the rape dungeon, DLC3 unlocks after you get ending G.
        >Some fights seemed "cheesy"
You're right, cheesing is how the game is meant to be played.
        >How exactly do you know when to block, shot and dodge?
You shot when you enemy charging an attack, if it didn't work you either didn't have enough luck or should dispel it instead and if that didn't work then you have to dodge or block, which one works better you unfortunately have to test in practice.
        >What is the catch with the pocketwatches that let you take an extra turn? There has to be a catch.
        There's none, they're just OP
        >Will I miss too much if I played with H scenes turned off?
        Probably

All right guys thank you a lot, I pretty much wasted your time on making you pat me on the back and telling me Im right, but better safe than sorry, being moronicd is in my nature.
Also related to DLC's, I dont remember any of the places you said, but if you are telling me they come after ending G, does it mean I cant do them before that? Because I remember going to an underwater zone (where you fight the leviathan and the nautilus looking guy) and I think i did most of the chaos dungeons if those are the "roguelike mode" where the best girl on the series assists you (blue haired girl taht kind of looks like hina from touhou).
Should I avoid those then? Or Im mistaking them for something else? Those are my last questions, sorry for asking a lot. Rather ask now than when plying and get spoiled too much.

          >does it mean I cant do them before that?
The only DLC that you can't do before G is DLC 3. The deep sea and the chaos dungeon are DLC 1 and 2 respectively. Avoid them only if you want to not get stupidly broken too quickly.

Nah, doing DLC1 (underwater area) is fine and even expected. It's the prerequisite for ending B

              >It's the prerequisite for ending B
Strictly speaking you can fulfill the requirement with RNG drops in the Chaos Dungeon too, but yeah. I just meant it in the sense that trying to go there too soon will break the difficulty curve for the rest of the game.

You should only avoid the Chaos Dungeon because after you leave it nothing in the base game will be able to even scratch you.

DLC 3 can only be done after ending G. Just do DLC 1 and 2 whenever you feel like it. I would reccommend doing DLC 1 during one of your 2/3rd cycles and DLC 2 after ending G for the sake of balance/story.

Good, I did DLC 1 when i played back then after all, and as i said previously at some point the dungeons filtered me hard so im following your advice.
Black souls 2 is really an unique experience, have vey fond memories of the segment from arriving to the train station with a very special maid to spending quality time with not e-girl alice and making her have an identity crisis on a maze, everything before and after that is just a fever dream.
High hopes about finally completing it, at least i will have to wait less than you guys for Red's game. Thanks for the answers.

If RDH is set between 1 and 2 or 2 and DLC3, Red is aware of the time limit. She may be trying to leave behind a "child" in the time she has left.

                >BS2 demonbeast Red, nothing on that front yet that I know in RDH
If you mean the difference between the 100 SEN Red and the 0 SEN Red arms, the 100 SEN Red is probably just Grimm remembering a previous G ending, since it's not a cyclebreaker ending. There's still absolutely zero sign of Poro post-H or in the ADV screenshot EMMM released so he probably died in G, same as when Red lost her arm, and Red's 100 SEN design incorporates both of those things she lost in G.

G isn't the cycle breaker, just an attempt at one. H is the real cycle breaker for 2.

No, he's right for Red, at least, since she doesn't cycle and she winds up outside of the garden. Grimm's the one stuck in the loops, so for him H is the ultimate cyclebreaker.

Timelines are fricked in Black Souls and everything that isn't a "Game Over" screen is actually canon due to cycles. Based on the first and second game there is one "cycle breaker" ending that leads to the next.

Yeah, every run you do is canon in BS1, every ending led to something happening (Red Hood's ending leads to her breaking out of the cycle in BS1 and she doesnt get pozzed by Leaf either), and at the same time it is a fact that you killed her at the hotel for ending C.
The same happens in BS2 where the G ending leads to Red Hood breaking out of the cycle and leaving Wonderland, but you are still bound to it because of GG's bond.

Yep Red's existence is proof that all timelines are canon. She doesn't come from End D of BS1, but her own respective ending Although, Red is a special case because she can use mirrors to hop around. So I dont think she is actually in a cycle during BS2. Time is probably linear for her and what we see is Grimm himself meeting Red for the first time over and over again. There's a timeline another anon made some time ago that mapped it out really well.
This is also why I believe Miranda's kid could actually show up/be Charlotte

I'm glad you enjoyed that detail, I think you're the first to bring it up actually. Though with what Hatta says there in White Castletown, it'll probably end up being an incorrect detail.
                >I was planning to make a timeline video from the beginning of the series at some point
Personally, I'm really fricking iffy on making external resources for a series like Black Souls, even outside of the author's intent being very clear about experimenting, exploring, and . Make no mistake, they can be incredibly useful, but I've had the misfortune of arguing with people who clearly just read fan wikis and watch videos made by random youtubers to skip the "boring" parts of actually playing the game and forming their own opinions and wind up parroting misunderstandings or misinformation. Not to say that you'll do a shitty job of it or anything, it's just something I'm generally wary of.

Yeah I understand. I mainly made my videos for archival purposes more than anything. I make them more for people who finish the game and want to rewatch/review certain scenes.
I really dont like the idea of secondaries coming in either. For example, some people in this thread asking for stuff like public wikis are just bound to bring morons (we seem to have plenty now). The video would be backed up with the appropriate scenes/dialogue if possible. The timeline in Black Souls is pretty fricked even with evidence supporting it. So it would probably still be largely speculative on my behalf, which I would make fairly clear. I dont really want to be a ""source"" of information, just an explanation of how the timelines (probably) work

While I don't know anything about your videos, have you considered just unlisting them (or however Youtube does that shit) and just keeping them to smaller circles like these?
                >So it would probably still be largely speculative on my behalf, which I would make fairly clear.
That's good to hear. If you want, I can offer some more of my opinions on how shit works too, would save me the trouble of trying to make more informational images.

The clips and stuff I'd prefer to keep up since they're just that, clips. I dont add anything significant to them. But for something like the timeline I could definitely keep it unlisted. Some of my videos if you're curious, spoilers for newbies:
                https://youtu.be/DrDzDrShRV0
                https://youtu.be/FG8oceCrnok
Sure I wouldn't mine hearing other ideas. This is what I think roughly. Basically, in BS1 timelines from all non end D endings converged after Leaf's garden was taken over. Red dies in all the other endings, so the one that shows up in BS2 is most likely the Red that goes after the mastermind in end A. Grimm is stuck in a loop via TCO/GG frickery in BS2, other characters are recycled and loop with him. This is of course w/out red, who lies outside of the play and the loop.

While I'm sure your first video wasn't meant to be comprehensive, I'm surprised you missed/didn't add stuff like Duchess's 1-30 SEN interaction when you first meet her, you can clearly see she's tossing and eating a baby in it. Likewise the blink and you'll miss it 0 SEN first meeting and following conversation with Prickett is something that gets glossed over by a lot of players, especially with the ladies in the hallway before raising SEN. If you're going to include out of the way 0 SEN messages as well, I'd add other shit like the Carpenter's message at the end of Tenniel Bridge in Lutwidge Town.
                >Basically, in BS1 timelines from all non end D endings converged after Leaf's garden was taken over.
Why non-D endings merging specifically instead of all of them?
                >Red dies in all the other endings
She kicks it in C, but she's completely and utterly absent for D, pic related. If I had to peg the exact point where the internal garden timelines merge for BS1, it'd be immediately after Shub is defeated, as Red is summonable for her fight before that point yet doesn't ever mention something that important in BS2.
                >so the one that shows up in BS2 is most likely the Red that goes after the mastermind in end A.
Yes, she talks about going for the mastermind's head in her personal ending in BS1, and mentions that being her goal for BS2 when you meet her in Lutwidge.
                >Grimm is stuck in a loop via TCO/GG frickery in BS2
Essentially, though GG's the root cause of the issue.
                >other characters are recycled and loop with him. This is of course w/out red, who lies outside of the play and the loop.
That exact criteria feels off to me, though I'm not sure how to explain it in a way that makes sense at the moment.

Let me preface this by saying that I haven't done a proper playthrough for BS2 since DLC 3, so I might've missed some stuff I was foggy on.
You're probably right, I should have added Prickett's scene and carpenter's message. For everything else, I left it for people to find on their own. Basically stuff that is easy to find in an average 0 SEN run.
I also have been meaning to replay through BS1 as well. I genuinely forgot that she doesnt show up at all in D. Although I still think Red (BS2) is from the end A version like you said. If timelines actually converge post end D, what about the Red that is missing in end D? I feel like Red Dead Hood will actually answer this for us but that is interesting.
                >other characters are recycled and loop with him. This is of course w/out red, who lies outside of the play and the loop.
Maybe I worded this a little poorly, but the other characters including covenants are either replaced (end B) or cycle with Grimm each time (Pumpkin bro, Sherlock, etc). Like you mention in your orignial timeline pic, Red is most likely not trapped in a loop in BS2, rather Grimm is just cycling back to the first night in Lutwidge while time runs linear for red.
My biggest concerns are actually about what happens between each of the games as that is where most of the speculation is going to be.
                >First tea party and Wonderland 1.0, was that Grimm/Prickett, Lewis/Prickett, Lewis/Alice. I lean towards the first

                >The gap(?) between BS1 and 2
We really don't have much actual information on this, it's probably best left for after DRH's release.

                Mind pointing me towards them?

If you just want meme difficulty try old jank ass games like Wizardry, especially 4. Won't guarantee you'll like them though.

I know the Japanese are also big on this take. Lewis being there would fit the timeline a lot more smoothly. Basically TCO and Alice deal>Lewis taken by Prickett>Wonderland 1.0>He, He, and She>Leaf takes Lewis>Grimm is made. What confuses me the most is the memory loss he has in the memory flame where Lewis is taken. As well as Lewis himself making a wish to Leaf prior to being taken by Prickett in another flame (one where he meets old Alice). It complicates the timeline, but to me it could have been: Wish made by Lewis>Grimm made>TCO wish causes chaos>Grimm taken by Prickett>Wonderland 1.0>He, He, and She>Leaf takes back Grimm via black rabbit wish.
I'll read your reply later, I have to head off to bed.

If Miranda did indeed conceed a child, its likely that its still alive even with Leaf's tampering.
I wish I had the conversation but apparently Miranda took Bathomet's blood and became an undead as a result

No, she was still explicitly human, even with the blood in play. Lindamea would know as he's an immortal undead himself.

It'd be a very, very odd form for the kid to take. The color scheme would work at least, but the clothes and everything else, not so much.

the clothes could be Red's influence from her efforts to resurrect the black trial, and a child of Baphomet would be a decent choice for a black trial recruit

He was an incredibly minor character in the game though, as far as I know his deal was that he awoke Hans. Like, it's far from impossible, but it'd be a big leap in terms of role and presumable importance, even Izu's appearance makes more sense to me.

His story was completely left unfinished and he was one of the strongest dudes in BS1 too.

So i started playing Black Souls recently but i started with 2 since i heard from some anons it has better gameplay and its alright story wise to start with. Im not that far in, only just got to the town where you meet the rabbit prostitute

Should i keep playing or am i being moronic and should i start with 1 instead for the better overall experience?

      Anonymous

Play 1 first. 2's story is confusing enough as it is, and it'll become utterly incomprehensible if you haven't played 1 first

        >but i started with 2
        >am i being moronic and should i start with 1
Yes, you are being moronic and should start with 1. 1 is objectively a worse game across the board and has most of its important plot elements backloaded into the endings, but it's required to understand BS2's plot, especially the farther along you go into 2.

The latter. Play 1, it's not that long and with context you'll enjoy 2 a lot more.

Yes, most of the game is essentially filler tbh but two of the endings are extremely important to know what the deal is in 2
You should also try to get all the companion's endings but they aren't entirely necessary

Alright thanks anons, i will go play 1 first

Alright now im frankly not sure. It could be either of the two skeletons seeing as Red Hood's game is about hunting sinners, both the Shaman and the foolish prince have commited sins to their names.
    >One makes the taboo of bringing back someone to life (it adds to your sin count in BS1)
    >The other seemingly commited an atrocity that led to his kingdom being genocided if not by his hand and keeps apologizing during the battle (this guy also drops a Ring of the Red mantle)

At the end of the day though, she still IS a Black personman, and that alone still places her far above most things in the universe even if she's small potatoes in comparison to the other Black personmen. That power to change is some wack ass shit too.

Most of the shit that happens in Paradox doesn't make her out to be weaker than the ending of the first game did, just that there's some stronger entities. The problem is it's hard to make out Black Souls powerscale while you can somewhat make out MGQ's thanks to Paradox adding in guns and explosives. So while Ilias can kill someone with lightning I'd doubt she'd kill a strong Black personman with it

I actually grew up surrounded by literature, was a pretty avid reader. Stopped because uni is a black hole of a time sink, but BS encouraged me to get back into the groove
If you've had little contact with literature up till now, I'd recommend starting with something enjoyable, rather than a dense brick. I recommend Don Quixote (Grossman translation - important, other translations are too archaic) and Monte Cristo

I always see people talking about Sequel in Black Souls threads, but does it really compared to BS levels of schizo, or are homosexuals just shilling their less popular game

I think it sucks. Its popularity, along with Demons Roots, baffles me. If you want a H-game with a similar (story) quality to BS, get into VNs and plotge

Wannabe detective from the previous thread. Right now Prickett and Jubjub are my biggest suspects.
Bandersnatch is too frumious, or perhaps not frumious enough. Jabberwock is mysterious but seems unrelated to the deaths.
Lorina basically shut down after being imprisoned. Probably incapable of causing everyone to die.
Prickett seems to have blinked out of existence after attempting to imprison her, but her covenant still remains. Not sure what to make of this, but if she's the culprit then maybe her songs are the cause.
Jubjub had a couple lines about "only doing her work", "bringing harm to the world and people" and "casual murder". Hard to dismiss as flavor text.

Having gone through the map again I think I'll count the March Hare, the Dormouse, the Hatter, and the Mock Turtle as victims too, marking nine and counting.
Doing a low sen run's giving me more questions than answers, what with Red Hood showing up and nearly everyone else talking in runes that are incomprehensible even with Prickett's ring.
Wandered into the mental ward from the rabbit hole and the twins were demonbeasts, so even forming covenants might become an issue this cycle.

Good. Do you have a plan to figure it out?

        Anonymous

I want to try opening a path to Queensland and the clock tower and experimenting with eliminating one or the other at the ninth torch, but I'll save that for next cycle since the sen is getting in the way of the covenants. For now I'll continue with low sen and see if Red or someone else might have useful info.

You're on the right track. Think carefully about how everyone died, and what might have motivated the murders. A butcher who only kills beavers kills a dodo. Mocky murder-suicides her gay lover. Dum kills her gay sister-lover. Griffy kills her friend (Bill). What could be the cause of all this?

Low sen and mistaken identity? I just had a scene with Grimm suddenly confusing Red for Alice and nearly killing her before snapping out of it, feels oddly related.

Despite Queensland becoming filled with chess pieces, Prickett is still Prickett. But there's no way I could miss that static and sudden appearance of Alice where she was standing. Curiouser and curiouser.
I remembered that I could reach the library through Queensland so I've also got a better idea of how much time I have left to figure things out. Now to check on Jubjub to see how things play out with that meeting.

I dunno how people can find BS1 boring it baffles me
    >starts off with fighting a giant fricking dragon
    >Meet Dorothy very quickly (great girl)
    >The map gives you several roads you can take and explore
    >The many climatic encounters you have in it that make those in BS2 stand out even more

      Anonymous

BS1's biggest flaw is that the map design was still kind of shit, especially with RPGmaker tank controls.
It feels a LOT better in BS2 to explore.

        Anonymous

Yeah because you can get Run Like Dodo five minutes in and don't have to suffer crawling at a snails pace. BS1 was overall much tighter and packed with events, so you ran into interesting stuff more often. BS2 is obviously the more fun game and the shift in how the world feels does make a lot of sense in the story, but i missed the main character feel BS1 gave you.

The respawn rate in BS1 was horrendous in comparison too. Glad that was toned down for BS2.

I'm making an RPG Maker game, is it necessary to have porn in it to attract autists that will scavenge the game all over, or just quality lore and fights?

      Anonymous

Maybe don't put straight up porn in it but have something +18 that isn't just gore.

      Anonymous

Much as I hate to say it, the porn is probably a necessary evil to draw attention to it in the first place, if the actual quality of the game is good enough then word of mouth comes into play like it did for BS. BS manages to generally make the porn relevant too though instead of having it there for the sake of it.

I always planned to make my own hentai version of RPG Maker Dark Souls but after playing BS2 I realized I cant compare to EMMM in terms of lore writing. Still gonna do it but guess I will have to put extra effort on the hentai parts to make up for it.

But it IS a secret. Talking to Leaf near the bonfire after picking up the bread crumbs reveals that 'they won't make it back home' or something along those lines, which you should know refers to Hansel and Gretel. And on NG+ you're likely to just ignore the bread crumbs, which would lead you to uncovering them

                >lol moron your content has been revoked, good luck next time

You miss shit playing normally so that you may still find new things when you're speedrunning the game on your second cycle and don't bother with picking up shit off the floor.

you ""missed"" 3 potential H-scenes actually and a few minor scenes, but also by picking it up you found a new boss fight. This game is meant to be replayed a bit if you want everything as theres a bunch of alternative end to things.
After triggering NG+ shit is like 30minutes to reach the end again you dont gotta think too deep first run

So you're saying NG+ retains your character making subsequent playthroughs really short? If that's the case then I revise my opinion of it a bit. Then missables such as the one I'm b***hing about isn't so bad. Still really triggered my autism.

Specifically dark spirit invasions and enemies like leviathan which just seemed like no matter how much speed bonus I had, they acted as quick as always.

I seriously doubt anything that we see in the VN actually occurred in reality at any point in time. Lewis's recording crying out in agony over the radio on night 3 about if this is even reality, asking if he's a puppet and the gears fricking with him at the end of it give that away I think. Bluebird probably said it best on night 4, his own imagination is what ends up doing him in inside of this hell.

See? We know it's technically the first game in the series, but getting people to start with it would be even more disastrous than getting people to start the DrakeNier series with Drakengard 1. At least that game has some redeeming qualities
I always try to tell people that reading Alice's Adventures in Wonderland is a better use of their time than playing Red's game. It's also more relevant to BS2's plot

I’ve seen this game shilled here and have been averse to playing it because of the H elements but this thread is making me reconsider
Is it really good enough of an rpg to play despite the fact that its literally a porn game?

Have you heard of the concept of plotge? You know, Saya no Uta, Muv-Luv, Baldr Sky. Nobody plays them for the porn. Same principle here

It's an insanely wild ride but the ride doesn't start until several endings into BS1
And yes the H scenes are important pussy

It's a plot series, not a gameplay series, though some would argue the second game's third DLC is pretty good for that. The first game is required before playing the second game and it backloads pretty much the entirety of its important plot elements into its endings, you'll want to get all of them and it'll take you somewhere north of 10 hours to do so.

Its hardly a porn game, most people who play it to the end and like it dont think the porn was what made the game good.
It has alot of secrets, thats the biggest draw.
To me, one aspect not talked about much here is how much humor EMMM packed into these games. Some scenes are damn hysterical in a warped way

The spirit of eros is lost on this game, it's too dark to make you horny. I also had reservations about it for years, but I played it recently and thought it was incredible. I knew the game was going to be great once I heard the title theme:

It reminds me of many ways of Saya no Uta. There, H-scenes also serve to unnerve you more than anything. It adds to the horror

should i get ALL ending on bs1 before moving on to bs2? i got ending b and now going to end A, end c seems to be the hardest since you need to kill all the companions i think

      >should i get ALL ending on bs1 before moving on to bs2?
At the absolute bare minimum you need C and D.

      Anonymous

You are a moron if you don't do ending C followed by ending D. The second game will make no sense without them.

        Anonymous

I can understand walking into D like a dumbass, it does happen here from time to time. Choosing to ignore doing one of them is moronic.

          Anonymous

I don't think the order you get the endings is particularly important for these games. As long as you get them all, it's fine. Most people just recommend that order so I say it as well.
I always thought it's weird how ending B is likely to be your first one, though instead of calling it ending A.

      Anonymous

No, you just need to collect all the fairy tales. Some of them are pretty tricky and you are probably going to have to get everyone to lvl.100
Technically bs2 picks up after ending d but ending d is not going to make sense if you don't do ending c.
