gaming back then was good it filtered a lot of moron npcs from gaming because they were also filtered from the early internet. It promoted video game discussion because cheats and guides weren't all readily available unless the game devs or REAL game reviews released it.
The competition was the N64 that only got like 3 games per year and sometimes none at all. The PS1 got hundreds of games per year, so it had something for everyone no matter the genre. Horror, rpg, racing, fighting, side scrollers, etc. And if this wasn't enough PS1 games were on average cheaper by $10-20 too while N64 never went down in price. Even old games were still being sold for like $80 compared to PS1's $60 standard.
Bro I just finished the niblehiem flashback sequence in FF7. This game sucks. The only cool part so far was storming shinra and the bike chase. The chase controlled like shit but at least it was cool. When does equipping materia become worth anything?
>the games in the arcade mogged PS1
Mogged so hard it totally die- OH WAIT
Because contrary to that what Ganker will tell you. You need more than just arcade heavy games to survive, yes even genres you don't like
>the arcade
>the arcade
Nobody gave a shit about the arcade in the US in the late 1990s, arcade had been dead for a decade
>flyover hicks enter the thread
It was literally the only home console with games on it until the xbox came out and took its throne away forever
Xbox was peak nogaems
The only good games on PS1 are Resident Evil, Tekken 3, and Parasite Eve 2 (just okay, not even that good)
You missed MGS1, the best Final Fantasies, Megaman Legends and SotN.
every genre is liked by fans of said genre
a successful device needs a library that covers all niches
>but i dislike THING!
cool
cope
lmao

>moron NPCs
Playstation brought them in
appealing to the lowest common denominator is... LE GOOD
The entry of Playstation saved the industry,
Marketing
Price
And then everyone was hooked by Christmas.

In fact, now that think about it the standard price for new PS1 games wasn't $60 but $50.

Why are you playing a game you don’t like? Because people told you to? Lol.
Watched a video that called xenogears "FF7 except good" but I haven't played either. I intend on playing that next but I needed a point of comparison
