betray their core fanbase to chase Sekirofags and their money
????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
>Sekirofags and their money
Sekirofags are just souls haters, they hate the souls formula because it's popular and sells well. Wo long could only appeal to them if it was made by From Software, because its existence would mean FROM dedicated their time to not making another Souls game. You notice how there was a steep decline in Sekiro threads after AC6? Now you know why. By trying to appease a niche audience of contrarians who hate a popular format rather than copying that popular format closely, Wo Long became a game with no audience.
>no co-op >no PVP >no invading >no theory crafting builds with community >no hundreds of items to piece together lore >no open world full of divergent paths and secrets >no waifu character creator >no appearance changing armor >no weapon variety with differing movesets >no RPG stat allocation >no enemy variety
0/10 worst souls game I ever played. Seriously, fuck Sekiro, it's a glorified boss rush like Furi
I had more fun playing Elden Ring blind before the cheese moon katana meta was discovered than I ever did with Sekiro. My three friends and I all seemingly went in different cardinal directions and I was dicking around in hogwarts before doing stormveil because I decided to take the semi-hidden side path. When I started to get my shit slapped I turned back and explored other areas, because that's an option in Souls games. Sekiro is one path, one strategy, and one playstyle, which is terribly boring and lacking in replayability.
Just like Sekiro, parry games are just inherently not asreplayable and less deep because your attack options matter instantly less. This is less of an issue in Wo Long than Sekiro but still present
It's not an issue at all, retard. Sekiro is an action game, not an RPG like Souls. It doesn't need "replayability." The only reason this is levied as a criticism is because it's being compared to an entirely different series. It's the same as bitching that Mario or Zelda don't have replay value.
>It's not an issue at all
yes it is, you cocksucking homosexual >Sekiro is an action game, not an RPG like Souls.
DMC is too and those games are based entirely on post game replay value
You understand the distinction between action game and action rpg, but far too many don't. I cringe every time some homosexual tries to force a portmanteau of souls, bloodborne and sekiro. They may as well toss Armored core and Deracine into the mix, because the only connecting thread is having the same dev.
the art design seemed lame and i don't give a fuck about the three kingdoms. did it even have any cool unique supernatural stuff like the yokai in nioh? i wanna fight a jiang-shi
3 Kingdoms is not nearly as popular, especially in the West, as samurai.
I sort of like it way more than Nioh, though not as much as Strangers of Paradise (which I think is the best Nioh-like game that KT has made).
Thousand Mile Journey is also a lot more fun than the Abyss and is a lot more fun on modern systems especially with quick resume and fast loading.
I can jump in for really small piecemeal sessions and get something substantial out of them. I like the parry-spam here because it's clear the whole game is built around it.
I also think the bosses in this game are better than in Nioh 1 or 2. Especially any boss that isn't human shaped and sized. The Yuan Shao boss is really interesting for the mobility and beyblade move, the Liu Bei boss fight is pretty interesting for just how often he's out of range and dive bombs you
Wo Long is to Three Kingdoms what Kingdom Hearts is to Disney
>Yuan Shao
Him and Taishi Ci are clear hints that this dev wants to do a mecha game
He's literally a fucking mecha. He even moves around with ice shots from his blaster gauntlet
Yeah, that shit was fucking great.
Honestly, I liked all the Corrupted Divine Beast fights. It was cool to see them give Sun Jian the allstar treatment as a suped-up version of the normal tiger enemy with a suitable number of mobility jukes
If Xbox was smart, they'd personally fund Wo Long 2 and make sure it was as juiced up on launch as possible. I'm also curious if they'd have us choose a side for the inevitable Chi Bi battle. I want to side with Cao Cao, I want to create an alternate history where he just wins
>did it even have any cool unique supernatural stuff like the yokai in nioh?
It's extremely similar to Nioh's setup to the point that they more than likely take place in the same universe though I don't think we technically have anything that directly connects them but they're doing a Nioh collab soon which will probably confirm it.
tl;dr yes it has demons, no shit.
terrible performance problems that remain unfixed to this day
damn still? I'm actually interested in playing it but the dogshit performance in the demo made me wait for a fix. Another anon mentioned a promised performance patch so maybe it will be worth picking up in another year
They claim they're going to be working on fixing PC performance soon but who knows how well that will go.
I played it on Game Pass and enjoyed it, but the performance issues make it difficult to recommend at full price.
>Bad performance >Weird flag system to affect enemy difficulty >Still had loot and build autism so those who didn't like it in Nioh would stay away here >China isn't as strong of a setting to many people
how the fuck does that happen? how did they make Nioh mods look and run like absolute shit?
damn still? I'm actually interested in playing it but the dogshit performance in the demo made me wait for a fix. Another anon mentioned a promised performance patch so maybe it will be worth picking up in another year
It was actually significantly optimized since the beta.
The main issue right now is the horrendous shader stutter for no reason. They are going to address it apparently.

had loot and build autism so those who didn't like it in Nioh would stay away here
I mean first off, nobody needed to fuck with builds and loot unless they wanted to venture deeper into NG+'s. If you're too dumb to figure this out then die. But the loot and build stuff was actually the one thing Wo Long GREATLY improved. It's much easier and convenient and you can actually create decent builds in a first playthrough and they feel more significant because of how the games stat distribution works. I actually really enjoyed it. There's still some degree of rng but only if you want to optimize your build.
>was kinda underwhelmed with the game back when it was released >every DLC massively improves the game >every patch brings something new >recent patch just gave all weapons new basic abilities like guard point for hammers and axes on ALL attacks including all MAs >DLC weapon types are super fun >DLC magic is fucking incredible >Abyss 3.0 is a Slay the Spire styled thing where you can chart the route yourself between several different mission types
They really should've waited for a year before releasing the game
They are also promising a PC optimization patch this month
>Abyss 3.0 is a Slay the Spire styled thing where you can chart the route yourself between several different mission types
Sounds neat. What other spin does it have on it? What changes do the missions have and what are the rewards for completing it?
>What changes do the missions have and what are the rewards for completing it?
Basically, every mission in the route you take has passive bonuses associated with it. Depending on what bonuses you want and what type of mission you prefer, you pick the route. But it can actually lead to some decent challenges down the route, like a boss rush with a true final boss as one of the participants. Bonuses range from +damage to flat luck bonuses which are actually HUGE and impact your drop rates significantly.
Completing levels gives you resources for a special shop. This shop is very powerful because one of the rewards allows you to re-roll martial arts and upgrade them. Completing a set of 10 levels gives you a huge chunk of those resources. Shop also provides some armor recolors with slightly better armor bonuses too.

When Team Ninja releases a game, I wait a year for all their DLC to come out and then buy it. I'm pleasantly surprised to hear that it seems to be way better now. (From you)
>morale no longer cucks you from using magic, low morale just means more spirit to cast them (irrelevant) >8 magic slots instead of 4 on release >up to 6 martial art slots per weapon so 12 MAs total accessible at any point the second you get rank 5 gear >weapons got their own identity hammered out a bit, certain weapon types now have unique gimmicks like staff gaining access to its infinite after any hit of the combo or hammers gaining guard points >jacked up the drop rates fairly considerably >can artificially limit your morale at any number if you wish harder/easier experience, low morale gives more drops >auto-disassemble with good amount of flexibility >fists are super fun, even gives you access to rudimentary launch and juggle combos for humanoids >longsword is INSANELY fun because it's a charge-oriented weapon that feels like a retarded combination of odachi and mid stance switchglaive but with a speed of 1kat >DLC bosses are actually pretty fucking hard, some cunts are borderline unfair like the pirate homosexual >DLC spells give you cool movement based utility and not just damage, one of the spells is literally shoryuken which can be used to knock certain enemies off the air, another is an offensive teleport akin to Shiva dodge in FF16
The new move they gave my Polaris hammer is great because somehow I never knew I needed a jumping i-framed hammer slam but it's kind of perfect as my in-battle counter move.
The earth spikes and charge slam are good but only really doable at a distance when the enemy is preoccupied with party members.
Really, the Reinforcements is the only thing I wish they'd revamp. Give them the ability to use my estuses or block. I like the idea of them, I just need them to be a little smarter and able to defend/heal themselves better
Reinforcements really need a "passive" mode where they just stand behind and buff you. Hong Jing especially. I want to take that piece of ass on every mission but she instantly jobs on higher difficulties.
Yeah, it's clear they all have the same core AI which is a shame since besides mother fuckers like Zhang Fei or Xiaohou Dun, most of them would probably fight differently in-canon.
It would also be nice if they fought in a way that leaned into the buffs they gave. Earth-phase warriors should be defensive and deflect heavy, water types should be a mix of ranged and poking with long range weapons. Etc Etc.
this looks fun, I dropped it halfway NG because of no variety. But I booted it up again and I saw nothing about new weapons mechanics and differences, and all weapons feel samey. My question is: >how the hell do you know weapons mechanics (e.g. autoblock on hammers) since there's no tutorials or anything?
It is odd that they don't have weapon tutorials like SOP did. Basically, we read the patch notes

Yeah Hong Jing should just stay behind and barrage everything with magic, or buff us with Wood spells. She's potentially super useful because she has a restoration spell in her toolkit but she barely uses it.

If this is Jingzhou, this is when Liu Bei basically squatted at his distant relative's house (Liu Biao). At the same time, the Cai family (from whom Liu Biao found both his second wife and his military commander) was trying to usurp the regional throne. So my guess is the lady is Lady Cai, one of the two guys we see here is her brother and the military commander, Cai Mao, and the other might be Liu Qi (who sided with Liu Bei and is the firstborn son to Liu Biao)

Yes, it's super rough on PC right now. I think it's smart to wait. Me? I can't wait because I can't get that Team Ninja action combat anywhere else 🙁
I unironically need some game recommendations, actual action combat, not DMC trash or games where clearly the developers were mediocre at using a controller so you can do all of these crazy things with the combat that lead to absolutely nothing at all.
I want combat that is deliberate.
why the fuck do Niohfags achieve by having 2836287382827 billions of moves?
Nigga there's 7 to max 11 martial arts per weapon class, and all pf them are competing for the same exact resource. I can get having a forward thrusting MA and a stationary dps MA, but the what the fuck do you need 12 MAs for? especially when there's normal and heavy attacks and deflect counter and magic too.
Same for Code Vein, 8 slots? I'm using 4 when I'm buffing pre-fight
4 fist MAs alone can be strung together to juggle a humanoid in a single uninterruptible combo string that works on humanoid bosses outside hyperarmor phases. 5 with a finisher.
That's fists alone
You lack creativity to tackle these matters.
>that works on humanoid bosses outside hyperarmor phases
so it's a coin toss

Hyperarmor phase is always accompanied by boss specific SFX. Typically a guardian spirit summon. Stomp for a pirate.

There's an entire pool of super fast MAs specifically designed to be used in dangerous situations where you can't commit
Ah, the wonders of 6 MA slots!
Using a lot of different moves is fun and cool, and a proper action game should encourage you to use your entire moveset to its fullest extent whenever possible. If I wanted to r1r1r1r1r1 I'd play Dark Souls.
Sekiro simplified the strike / party / dodge while still being hard. The game focused on combat and combat alone to win.
I played wo long with a friend and there’s absolutely no reason to block if you still take chip damage. Just use the parry and gitgud, I stopped when my friend who doesn’t play souls games couldn’t keep up with fighting that stupid dog (the second boss)
It just took everything that made sekiro good and made it harder.
Blocking is free, but you should block while attempting to deflect. It's a very basic concept, in fact, you should be doing this in all Team Ninja games because blocking is actually useful and not garbage like in From Shitgames.
It decently works in Sekiro, too. But only 'decently' because the parry button is also the block button. If these functions were in separate buttons, the game would be a cakewalk.
Blocking becomes significantly better when you unlock "no elemental damage on block" passive. It's very useful.
You will never 100% deflect DLC bosses unless you've clocked like 300 hours in the game. Ice mecha guy at the end of DLC2 in particular will just rape you raw for trying to deflect him instead of just getting the fuck out.

The game has gotten alot better since launch but one issue that i think will always plague the game is that the enemy variety is absolutely pathetic even worse than in nioh 1.

Yeah. And it's the major pre-cursor leading into the battle of Redcliffs and the Sun-Liu alliance.
We'll almost certainly discover that the Cai family are using Darkness to make more Heartless, I mean Elixir to make more Demons.
Only by the power of the Keyblade, I mean Divine Beasts, can order be restored.
>Black was their Master piece but is a little outdated now >2 will always be unfinished but has the best Ninja gaiden combat for sure >Razor's edge is pretty nice and has a ton of missions >Nioh is great >Nioh 2 is a masterpiece of action RPG combat >SOP is easily one of the best action RPGs based on Final fantasy >Wo Long has by far the best levels of the newer games, the combat is very elaborate and enemies are fun to fight in general
Why can't we all just get along? All of these games are great.
I don't like the China theme. I don't like parrying mechanics where you have to constantly parry to play efficiently. It doesn't look like it'd run at 60 on Steam Deck which is where I'm currently going through Nioh 2. I just want more Nioh or Ninja Gaiden. At least Strangers of Paradise is FF and I love FF.
I hope Koei Tecmo/Team Ninja make a Ninja Gaiden (or spiritual successor to it) game where you can make your own character soon because it would be the perfect time to do it now that they know that Nioh works and that DMC5 is old and no other spectacle fighters exists to fill the void.
I get not liking the China theme, Three Kingdoms media deals HEAVY in references and the presumption that you know who is who.
The best thing you can do, unironically, is binge the entire 96 episode 2010 Three Kingdoms show on youtube or download it.
And then go play Total War Three Kingdoms and Wo Long for the ultimate micro and macro 3K experience

It's the exact same in Nioh 1 and 2. They throw the story with snippets of rise of Nobunaga and its downfall as well as Hideyoshi. If you don't know about those stories prior you will not understand those games. It's the exact same shit with Wolong.
I mean, Nioh is the free-est of Team Ninja games because stamina is infinite and dodging is too good. Stranger of Paradise and Wo Long changed in philosophy, you can't just not fight. You HAVE to engage with the combat if you want to be able to fight at all.
In SOP It's MP, you need MP which you only get by using the soul parry or by attacking, at least at the beginning. Using the soul parry can deflect everything except for grabs, but it costs 'stagger'. If your stagger is broken, you will get stunned and most likely die. However, in SOP, you have two jobs equipped at once (each with its own set of gear), and you have a button to switch jobs which you can use to cancel out of attacks.
If you don't cancel out of attacks you get slammed, if you don't spend MP you deal no damage and can't use abilities, if you don't spend stagger in some way you can't get MP, if you don't attack, you don't get anything at all.
Compare this to Nioh where you just attack and dodge. Sure there's complexity in stances and doing combo moves. But that's it.
Then Wo Long is like that but you can deflect absolutely every attack. It's way simpler with a singular Spirit gauge that works exactly like SOP's MP and stagger but it's combined. You spend spirit for skills but if you do it too much you can get staggered. Deflecting grants you spirit and it can become positive spirit so you have more 'mp' available to spend in attacks.
It's all connected. It's well-designed. If you don't want to 'deal with mechanics you have to constantly engage with to play efficiently', stop at Nioh and don't worry about the other games.

I never said anything about having to "deal with it". I said I don't like constant parrying. Parrying being a mechanic is not the problem. The problem is that games that are designed around the use of parrying mechanics (and/or meters you constantly have to break) where you will have to constantly parry are not fun for me. I don't want to always have to be on the defensive and the best part of NG and Nioh are the offensive options you can use as retaliations to enemy's attacks. Defensive options are wonderful and I'm glad they exist but building the combat around being defensive and then also controlling meters is not fun.
Sekrio proved this because a majority of players just didn't like managing meters. Armored Core 6 has the same stagger meter shit and it's not fun. I was so disappointed when I got to balteus of AC6 and realized that there is just less build variety because you have to build for this gay mechanic that isn't fun and pick one kind of damage to upgrade in order to progress.
I don't want the game to be easy baby shit, I just don't want to be forced to play a specific way in order to even play the game. This kills player expression. The MP system in SoP looks more fun than Wo Long also so idk what to tell you.
No clue what the "MMO combat" guy is talking about.

Maybe. I dunno. I don't think I will ever like it and I really like dynasty warriors. I'm willing to try though.

Mario and Zelda both have replayability. I think games having replayability is a good thing and yeah, games like sekiro are less replayable than other games.

Well, this is what you're not understanding, SOP and Wo Long are very similar, they both rely a lot on their options for the flow of combat. Both to survive and mount an offensive. Both games are designed to use the mechanics as parts of a whole rather than options.
Also, man, please stop bringing up soulslop when talking about an example. Team Ninja actually does these things right. You're also free to dodge in both games, but dodging is a pussy option that nets you next to nothing. It's a true neutral option.
Dude, ugh. The niggnorance of this motherfucker.

Wo Long would be so good if deflect wasn't so good and braindead and how the game has the sekiro issue where attacks don't feel like they matter nearly as much as just parrying and maxxing out the stamina bar.
I REALLY like the spirit system, I think it's a very cool idea and hope they re-use it going forward.

Bro, I don't know, maybe it's because I am actually playing through Wo Long but the deflects are anything but braindead.
I do agree that having them as the solution to everything is kinda ass(which is why I still prefer Stranger of paradise), but I still believe these to be way better than Sekiro. These aren't even remotely close to comparable in terms of execution. In Sekiro your stagger can be in the red and as long as you throw an attack now, and then you're a literal tank that can't stop parrying. That shit doesn't fly in Wo Long.

The meter/stamina system of wo-long and Nioh is better, you can initiate combos with any move because you bar returns to equilibrium without doing anything, or fills up faster if you do well.

Nah, SOP and Wo Long are virtually identical, except you can parry everything. MP is Positive spirit and stagger is negative spirit.
You're praising virtually the same system. I will say Nioh is my least favorite of the trio.

Sekiro is diarrhea dogshit and Wo Long is infinitely better but the way deflect works is still braindead. It's very lenient, has no recovery, can parry LITERALLY everything, and you aren't really punished for mashing it. Maybe DLC enemies and bosses punish parries more but not in the base game.
if the game launched with even just 2 of the DLC's worth of content and updates and balance changes, it would be a contender for GOTY. It's a good ol team ninja action game and it's quite awesome now. third DLC will make it even better. only downside now is that PvP is deader than shit and there's no crossplay. it was fun while it lasted though, fighting 2/3 enemies at once as you invade.
PvP in this game is unironically sick, maybe it's more broken now after all the changes and additional MAs/Magic idk but I love the fast paced nature of it. Only issue is that it was too hard to try and punish deflects and how the majority of MAs were very easy to react to and punish. I heard they sped up all MAs though so maybe it's harder to react to them. Also, at least at launch, some weapons were completely unusable because they were too slow and couldn't get guaranteed punishes after deflecting attacks
3 weeks ago
Anonymous
Well, maybe we indeed played a different game because mashing parry gets you a dodge that will most likely get you killed.

You can delay your deflect input by like 1/4th of a second to prevent the dodge and do deflect again. It's not that hard to do.
>Be Cao Cao >be completely correct about everything >lose one battle >get relegated as evil in history because the culture wants to suck the emperor's cock, even though your faction ends up winning in the end
the chinese are fucking stulid
It's not even that.
The Records of the Three Kingdom was written by a guy in Shu Han, at a time when Shu Han was on the rise and seen as the legitimate dynasty.
Romance of the Three Kingdoms was then a dramatic re-telling in the 14th century of that already biased-account of events by a Shu-loyalist from the 3rd century. And Cao Cao tends to get cast as the villain because he was a usurper to the throne, whereas Liu Bei was pious and fighting for the status quo, essentially. If you are any other dynasty in Chinese history, you want to keep imperial piety as a core virtue amongst the peasantry.
It's why the 2010 series is so interesting by comparison to most of the prior versions of Three Kingdoms (be they in theater plays, tv shows, movies, games, etc). The 2010 series sort of reframes Cao Cao as an ahead-of-his-time meritocratic leader, Liu Bei as a virtuous conservative who is trying to turn back the clock against the Will of Heaven, and the Sun family are depicted as the group that would normally be next-in-line dynastically as the Han fall apart but suffer from having to deal with Wei and Shu-Han. It's a more interesting thematic view of the ROTK events.
These days, Cao Cao has a way better reputation
>These days, Cao Cao has a way better reputation
Probably due to Japs drawing parallels to Nobunaga in their media. Japs love 3 kingdoms and likewise Chinese love Jap media.
Well also due to the Cultural Revolution up-ending a lot of the ingrained Confucian morality that upheld the often overbearing or abusive Dynastic Imperial system. So guys like Cao Cao, who often preferred focusing on the merits of people rather than their families or their rank are seen in a more favorable light in a post-Mao China
Also helps that with more information easily obtainable people start seeing that Shu isn't the all holy and good force that ROTK tried to portray. Zhang Fei is actually a child rapist for example.
turns out allowing consumers to rent games via game pass does not sell dlc. snoys didn't buy it because muh day 1 gp, xbros rented it, pcfags rented it, many that bought it on steam refunded it because the performance was bad and quite frankly, the game wasn't good enough to make people want to buy dlc. it wasn't a bad game but it peaks at lu bu and then never gets that good again.
there is a state that exists because good and bad. a mediocre game is not a bad game, nor is a slightly above average one which is what i'd classify wo long as.
I genuinely wanted to like Strangers of Paradise but it's just too poorly optimized and too itemization focused unfortunately
Wo Long is super enjoyable to play even in short bursts.
Stranger of Paradise felt like mental schizophrenia given a tangible form. Like Kawazu the SaGa guy tricked someone into letting him make an action game. Doesn't help that the internal resolution is hot garbage and even a goblin hitting you in the face looks like a blurry smudge
It was mediocre. Good but not great. The plot wasn't that coherent because they wanted to show off all the famous historical characters, like it was primarily made for fans of Romance of the Three Kingdoms, not for soulslike or sekirolike fans.
I find it amusing almost nobody ever mentions the fact demonized Lu Bu is playing magical ping pong with you, like that one final boss attack in Ys Oath in Felghana
Fucking amazing
It was a day 1 gamepass game, i'm surprised it got that many players on steam. Anyways, it's a single player game and anyone that's played nioh and/or sop knows that it's not exactly worth playing again until ALL the DLC is released which is exactly what i'm doing. Beat it once, had my fun, fucked around in pvp and won't be touching it again until DLC3 is out
nioh 3 and asian fantasy is overdone to shit
we need games based on other mythologies like christian or indian but devs are too pussy to attempt currently worshipped religions
The director of Nioh actually did say he was interested in doing something based on irish mythology. William's guardian spirit is literally based on it. Yasuke's is based on some type of african mythology too. Maria doesn't have a guardian spirit but she uses her own type of magic which is pretty neat.
if the game launched with even just 2 of the DLC's worth of content and updates and balance changes, it would be a contender for GOTY. It's a good ol team ninja action game and it's quite awesome now. third DLC will make it even better. only downside now is that PvP is deader than shit and there's no crossplay. it was fun while it lasted though, fighting 2/3 enemies at once as you invade.

>>can be beaten with one move
Yeah that's all the NGs if you use cheese moves dipshit. Try to play it the proper way and you'll have your balls crushed. Also, that move doesn't even work on all the enemies like those homosexual alchemists.
Those kind of games looks awesome to me but play horribly.
Just mash attack button until all enemies on screen dies.
Like jrpg with their turn based combat + random encounters, game industry has a lot to gain once they modernize their gameplay like EE did with FF7.
Did they ever fix M+KB controls? I don't get why they port these games to PC if they're going to be ass lazy about it? It's not even difficult since the main issue was the fucking camera dead zones
>fully completed base difficulty, then went into ng+ and played first dlc >used flag deposit or whatever exploit to get a bunch of decent 6 stars gear >already too bored to play dlc or the next difficulty when it came out >replaying nioh 2 instead
idk, I guess I have no more drive to play it because unlike nioh it feels like there's not further skills to learn other than being more precise at deflecting, and unlike sekiro I don't find the setting and enemies cool or charming at all save for a couple of exceptions. Farming and making builds also sounds boring af
Team Ninja don't know how to make games outside of Ninja Gaiden. Nioh, the Final fantasy, and Wo Long are so hilarious backloaded that it's not even fun anymore once you realize that. For example Wo Long has "martial arts" which are weapon skills you get on every weapon. They are randomized and there is no way to swap them out until you beat the game 2 times. So you pretty much have to ignore them unless you get a god roll with all the martial arts skills you want and on the weapon you like. Absolutely retarded game design locking a basic feature like it's some amazing end game mechanic. Gating max rarity equipment behind multiple NG+ always felt stupid for me.
>fully completed base difficulty, then went into ng+ and played first dlc >used flag deposit or whatever exploit to get a bunch of decent 6 stars gear >already too bored to play dlc or the next difficulty when it came out >replaying nioh 2 instead

>Sekiro combat gets so boring after you beat the game even if you try to mix the prosthetic in.
Wow it's almost like Wo Long gives you a lot more attacks to use with different effects and uses and you can customize them.
I was about to make a very similar comment about how the game never HAD a core fanbase and was always a Chinese Sekiro ripoff and then realized I had made this same mistake
the main team ninja team was working on rise of the ronin while wo long got shafted. they thought the chinese market would be enough to carry its mediocrity but not even rotk was enough for them to care.
Okay so I never played Wo Long but I hated Nioh because of stamina + shit mobility. I hated Souls for the same reason; Sekiro was the only “souls” game where you could jump and act freely without a bunch of bullshit.
But Wo Long has a jump button. It still has stamina but it’s a bit better because it restores itself during combat and is only used for special attacks and defensive moves (a bit like a mix between Sekiro’s emblems and posture).
So here’s the question: why am I not playing this? What’s wrong with it? Poor performance? Awful visuals? Why have I never paid any attention to this game?
>asks what went wrong
>answers it instantly
What more needs to be said? They trend chased sekiro and no nuoh fan wanted that.
but anon
he asked what went wlong
betray their core fanbase to chase Sekirofags and their money
????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
>Sekirofags and their money
Sekirofags are just souls haters, they hate the souls formula because it's popular and sells well. Wo long could only appeal to them if it was made by From Software, because its existence would mean FROM dedicated their time to not making another Souls game. You notice how there was a steep decline in Sekiro threads after AC6? Now you know why. By trying to appease a niche audience of contrarians who hate a popular format rather than copying that popular format closely, Wo Long became a game with no audience.
??????????????????????
what are these retarded labels
i like sekiro, i like souls, i like nioh 2, i like wo long
i like ARPGs
>i like souls
Congrats, you aren't a sekirofag.
>Sekirofags are just souls haters
Sekiro is a souls game tho
>Sekiro is a souls game tho
>no co-op
>no PVP
>no invading
>no theory crafting builds with community
>no hundreds of items to piece together lore
>no open world full of divergent paths and secrets
>no waifu character creator
>no appearance changing armor
>no weapon variety with differing movesets
>no RPG stat allocation
>no enemy variety
0/10 worst souls game I ever played. Seriously, fuck Sekiro, it's a glorified boss rush like Furi
Just say you can't beat a souls game unledd you can cheese every boss with meme homosexual ez mode "builds"
Learn to parry cuck
I had more fun playing Elden Ring blind before the cheese moon katana meta was discovered than I ever did with Sekiro. My three friends and I all seemingly went in different cardinal directions and I was dicking around in hogwarts before doing stormveil because I decided to take the semi-hidden side path. When I started to get my shit slapped I turned back and explored other areas, because that's an option in Souls games. Sekiro is one path, one strategy, and one playstyle, which is terribly boring and lacking in replayability.
So this is the power of the "superior" Fromsoftware?
I dont give a fuck about the three kingdoms outside of Dynasty Warriors.
Game was fun, just not replayable
Just like Sekiro, parry games are just inherently not asreplayable and less deep because your attack options matter instantly less. This is less of an issue in Wo Long than Sekiro but still present
It's not an issue at all, retard. Sekiro is an action game, not an RPG like Souls. It doesn't need "replayability." The only reason this is levied as a criticism is because it's being compared to an entirely different series. It's the same as bitching that Mario or Zelda don't have replay value.
>It's not an issue at all
yes it is, you cocksucking homosexual
>Sekiro is an action game, not an RPG like Souls.
DMC is too and those games are based entirely on post game replay value
What are you doing in this thread dmcuck? Go have a nice day tranny
You understand the distinction between action game and action rpg, but far too many don't. I cringe every time some homosexual tries to force a portmanteau of souls, bloodborne and sekiro. They may as well toss Armored core and Deracine into the mix, because the only connecting thread is having the same dev.
Retard
the art design seemed lame and i don't give a fuck about the three kingdoms. did it even have any cool unique supernatural stuff like the yokai in nioh? i wanna fight a jiang-shi
They claim they're going to be working on fixing PC performance soon but who knows how well that will go.
>take nioh
>make it worse
Eh. I played it free and felt ripped off
terrible performance problems that remain unfixed to this day
how the fuck does that happen? how did they make Nioh mods look and run like absolute shit?
Bolting on more and more graphical features without actually fixing the core issues with the engine.
I played it on Game Pass and enjoyed it, but the performance issues make it difficult to recommend at full price.
>Bad performance
>Weird flag system to affect enemy difficulty
>Still had loot and build autism so those who didn't like it in Nioh would stay away here
>China isn't as strong of a setting to many people
had loot and build autism so those who didn't like it in Nioh would stay away here
I mean first off, nobody needed to fuck with builds and loot unless they wanted to venture deeper into NG+'s.
Shop also provides some armor recolors with slightly better armor bonuses too.
>was kinda underwhelmed with the game back when it was released
>every DLC massively improves the game
>every patch brings something new
>recent patch just gave all weapons new basic abilities like guard point for hammers and axes on ALL attacks including all MAs
>DLC weapon types are super fun
>DLC magic is fucking incredible
>Abyss 3.0 is a Slay the Spire styled thing where you can chart the route yourself between several different mission types
They really should've waited for a year before releasing the game
They are also promising a PC optimization patch this month
When Team Ninja releases a game, I wait a year for all their DLC to come out and then buy it. I'm pleasantly surprised to hear that it seems to be way better now. (From you)
>morale no longer cucks you from using magic, low morale just means more spirit to cast them (irrelevant)
>8 magic slots instead of 4 on release
>up to 6 martial art slots per weapon so 12 MAs total accessible at any point the second you get rank 5 gear
>weapons got their own identity hammered out a bit, certain weapon types now have unique gimmicks like staff gaining access to its infinite after any hit of the combo or hammers gaining guard points
>jacked up the drop rates fairly considerably
>can artificially limit your morale at any number if you wish harder/easier experience, low morale gives more drops
>auto-disassemble with good amount of flexibility
>fists are super fun, even gives you access to rudimentary launch and juggle combos for humanoids
>longsword is INSANELY fun because it's a charge-oriented weapon that feels like a retarded combination of odachi and mid stance switchglaive but with a speed of 1kat
>DLC bosses are actually pretty fucking hard, some cunts are borderline unfair like the pirate homosexual
>DLC spells give you cool movement based utility and not just damage, one of the spells is literally shoryuken which can be used to knock certain enemies off the air, another is an offensive teleport akin to Shiva dodge in FF16
Etc Etc.
Given hwo responsive the devs are, maybe that would be worth actually writing into them on
yes my wife is super strong
this looks fun, I dropped it halfway NG because of no variety. But I booted it up again and I saw nothing about new weapons mechanics and differences, and all weapons feel samey. My question is:
>how the hell do you know weapons mechanics (e.g. autoblock on hammers) since there's no tutorials or anything?
>>how the hell do you know weapons mechanics (e.g. autoblock on hammers) since there's no tutorials or anything?
when you equip them and then it gets saved in tutorials
>one of the spells is literally shoryuken
FUCK
alright, these cunts got me, i'm a sucker for DPs.
guess i'll pirate it or something
?t=70
It also has Akuma style fist slam at the end
aHR0cHM6Ly9ieXhhdGFiLmNvbS9nYW1lcy90b3JyZW50X2lncnkvcnBnL3dvLWxvbmctZmFsbGVuLWR5bmFzdHktMjAyMy8yLTEtMC0yODA4I2NvbW1lbnQ=
Go on anon, currently seeding it.
>torrenting
Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
while i appreciate the sentiment, i'll wait for the performance patch and DLC3.
demo ran like absolute shit, and the DLC are usually very good. i'll get it when the complete edition is out
Yes, it's super rough on PC right now.
Stomp for a pirate.
without canceling, you can't commit to any MA
There's an entire pool of super fast MAs specifically designed to be used in dangerous situations where you can't commit
Ah, the wonders of 6 MA slots!
Using a lot of different moves is fun and cool, and a proper action game should encourage you to use your entire moveset to its fullest extent whenever possible. If I wanted to r1r1r1r1r1 I'd play Dark Souls.
Wo Long is way different than Sekiro but I can see how the regular person doesn't see that.
Subhuman.
Didn't even know it was released or made by Team Ninja until recently. Maybe it's not very good or maybe it needed better marketing.
I didn't buy it because of the pronouns
The game has gotten alot better since launch but one issue that i think will always plague the game is that the enemy variety is absolutely pathetic even worse than in nioh 1.
You fucks acting like every single game should be a "forever game" that people play incessantly is beyond insufferable.
I LOVE MY WIFE DIAOCHAN
>the game is not that popular so we will never get a dual cultivation doujin
Who are the characters on the cover of DLC3?
Is dual sword dude a historical figure or can they pull ancient Hayabusa out of their ass?
If this is Jingzhou, this is when Liu Bei basically squatted at his distant relative's house (Liu Biao). At the same time, the Cai family (from whom Liu Biao found both his second wife and his military commander) was trying to usurp the regional throne. So my guess is the lady is Lady Cai, one of the two guys we see here is her brother and the military commander, Cai Mao, and the other might be Liu Qi (who sided with Liu Bei and is the firstborn son to Liu Biao)
The last DLC actually happens after game events, huh.
Ninja Gaiden II was TN's last great game, you need to have a nice day if you enjoy anything they made after it.
>Black was their Master piece but is a little outdated now
>2 will always be unfinished but has the best Ninja gaiden combat for sure
>Razor's edge is pretty nice and has a ton of missions
>Nioh is great
>Nioh 2 is a masterpiece of action RPG combat
>SOP is easily one of the best action RPGs based on Final fantasy
>Wo Long has by far the best levels of the newer games, the combat is very elaborate and enemies are fun to fight in general
Why can't we all just get along? All of these games are great.
Ninja Gayden and Knee-OH 1&2 are great. Will buy CHAOS. wo long looks bad.
What looks bad about Wo Long? It's honestly a lot more fun when you play it yourself.
>I don't like the China theme.
Absolutely soulless
China is boring. Nioh works because I am a weeb. I hate China and I don't care about China lore.
You would care if you knew how cool Guan Yu is or how much Liu Bei hates his own child
>Japan is le cool because of anime
yes.
Cool MMO gameplay. have a nice day.
MMO gameplay nigga? Out of all the dumb shit your stupid subhuman brain could come with? MMO gameplay? lmfao
That shit doesn't fly in Wo Long.
>which is why I still prefer Stranger of paradise
Ugh, I hated how the game incetivised mashing attack as the start of all combos to build up mana.
Having everything leech off MP was retarded. Did make for a funny punchline when I unlocked the Ninja class and saw that its tools run off its power for no reason, that was just funny to me
Huh? There are so many ways to get MP, that shit is near infinite. I guess you didn't really play it much.
Everything you said is the opposite of my experience and your opinion is fucking GAY.
Well, maybe we indeed played a different game because mashing parry gets you a dodge that will most likely get you killed.
You can delay your deflect input by like 1/4th of a second to prevent the dodge and do deflect again. It's not that hard to do.
razors edge is just NGII on crack. it's a shame that campaign is filled with horrible stuff but the ninja trials are amazing in that game.
>morale system or whatever the fuck it was called
>first bossfight
Team Shitja ought to kill themselves, it's that fucking simple
>he cannot into map exploration
>Be Cao Cao
>be completely correct about everything
>lose one battle
>get relegated as evil in history because the culture wants to suck the emperor's cock, even though your faction ends up winning in the end
the chinese are fucking stulid
>You were born just in time to experience the Wei-naissance.
He’s the most fun to play as in Total War 3K
Hes the most beloved character from the 2010 show.
We’re on our Wei
Also helps that with more information easily obtainable people start seeing that Shu isn't the all holy and good force that ROTK tried to portray. Zhang Fei is actually a child rapist for example.
Is the last DLC out?
turns out allowing consumers to rent games via game pass does not sell dlc. snoys didn't buy it because muh day 1 gp, xbros rented it, pcfags rented it, many that bought it on steam refunded it because the performance was bad and quite frankly, the game wasn't good enough to make people want to buy dlc. it wasn't a bad game but it peaks at lu bu and then never gets that good again.
>It wasn't a bad game but it peaks 3 hours before half and never gets good
hmm...
there is a state that exists because good and bad. a mediocre game is not a bad game, nor is a slightly above average one which is what i'd classify wo long as.
lu bu was amazing, the best sekiro boss.
I seethed and rage quit but prevailed.
I dropped the game afterwards, good to hear I didn't miss much.
Doesn't help that the internal resolution is hot garbage and even a goblin hitting you in the face looks like a blurry smudge
>he's actually using buffs instead of 8 cool movement based spells Whitegoat style
>people whining that wu long isn’t the white bread sengoku period
Insane
What went wrong? It wasn't Nioh 3.
Game itself was very mid, but the PC port itself was complete shit. Also most people probably played it on gamepass.
game looks very ugly, the chinese theme doesn't help.
>what went wrong
It's a simon says rip off where you just deflect the boss until it staggers and you attack him
Oh look it’s the Simon says schizo that haunts all fromsoft related thread! Simon says lol!
I would unironically like Sekiro more if horizontal/vertical unblockables were color coded.
It was mediocre. Good but not great. The plot wasn't that coherent because they wanted to show off all the famous historical characters, like it was primarily made for fans of Romance of the Three Kingdoms, not for soulslike or sekirolike fans.
I was almost in that game but the casting director didn't like me.
Is the december dlc the last one? I'm waiting until it's done, content wise, before I play it.
it was on goypass, so they half-assed it since they got a double paycheck.
I find it amusing almost nobody ever mentions the fact demonized Lu Bu is playing magical ping pong with you, like that one final boss attack in Ys Oath in Felghana
Fucking amazing
?si=fbErVs5M576zOO7-
It was a day 1 gamepass game, i'm surprised it got that many players on steam. Anyways, it's a single player game and anyone that's played nioh and/or sop knows that it's not exactly worth playing again until ALL the DLC is released which is exactly what i'm doing. Beat it once, had my fun, fucked around in pvp and won't be touching it again until DLC3 is out
Not sure how I feel about this being the boss they're using. Still hoping we get Wirriam as a boss.
Mezuki is actually shared between chinese and japanese folklore so it's fitting.
nioh 3 and asian fantasy is overdone to shit
we need games based on other mythologies like christian or indian but devs are too pussy to attempt currently worshipped religions
It's a good ol team ninja action game and it's quite awesome now. third DLC will make it even better. only downside now is that PvP is deader than shit and there's no crossplay. it was fun while it lasted though, fighting 2/3 enemies at once as you invade.
>dev who's only known for making poor quality Souls ripoffs makes yet another poor quality Souls ripoff
>people keep losing interest
wooooow wonder what went wrong
>make a chink game
>no kung fu shit
>no flying sword and riding on them
>it's wuxia shit instead of xianxia
I heard they finally port Nioh 2 fists into the game though, but it's still not a kung fu shit.
>no kung fu shit
Cestus, a shit ton of magic, staff
>no flying sword and riding on them
Final boss literally does that
MC is literally living in a cultivation village by the way.
>Final boss
Even more egregious, final boss can do it but not the player. Also I forgot, no nunchucks, what a fucking blunder.
>dumbed down so it doesn't appeal to niohfags
>soulsfags don't give a fuck anyway
serious case of never abandon your core audience
You think they would've learned after NG3.
NG3 RE isn't dumbed down and is the hardest game in the series
>can be beaten with one move
>is the game that introduced the braindead simon says attacks
But sure the game isn't dumbed down
>>can be beaten with one move
Yeah that's all the NGs if you use cheese moves dipshit. Try to play it the proper way and you'll have your balls crushed. Also, that move doesn't even work on all the enemies like those homosexual alchemists.
>filtered by alchemists
im done here
Those kind of games looks awesome to me but play horribly.
Just mash attack button until all enemies on screen dies.
Like jrpg with their turn based combat + random encounters, game industry has a lot to gain once they modernize their gameplay like EE did with FF7.
Man i thought the japanese lore in nioh was confusing. I have no idea whats going on this.
Its the video game version of NIGGA DEY ALL CHINESE.
Giant Toad is pronounced "Giant Toad." Does this clear things up?
why do you retards always bring up games that are on gamepass
It’s my goty tbh. Liked both dlcs and am looking forward to the next one. Beautiful game though and though.
Did they ever fix M+KB controls? I don't get why they port these games to PC if they're going to be ass lazy about it? It's not even difficult since the main issue was the fucking camera dead zones
Watching someone else play it on-release, the bosses looked like shit and were worse to fight against than Elden Ring bosses.
(you)
>fully completed base difficulty, then went into ng+ and played first dlc
>used flag deposit or whatever exploit to get a bunch of decent 6 stars gear
>already too bored to play dlc or the next difficulty when it came out
>replaying nioh 2 instead
idk, I guess I have no more drive to play it because unlike nioh it feels like there's not further skills to learn other than being more precise at deflecting, and unlike sekiro I don't find the setting and enemies cool or charming at all save for a couple of exceptions. Farming and making builds also sounds boring af
Why did they even chase after Sekirofags?
Sekiro combat gets so boring after you beat the game even if you try to mix the prosthetic in.
>Sekiro combat gets so boring after you beat the game even if you try to mix the prosthetic in.
Wow it's almost like Wo Long gives you a lot more attacks to use with different effects and uses and you can customize them.
Why the fuck do I always get half way through these threads before I realise I'm confusing this game with Black Myth Wukong. Every fucking time.
I was about to make a very similar comment about how the game never HAD a core fanbase and was always a Chinese Sekiro ripoff and then realized I had made this same mistake
souls shit was already stale around ds3
>ps3 looking game AI poorly optimized trash that it runs worse if you set everything to low
yeah, I'm not paying for this piece of trash.
with*
not AI.
>What if, we make Nioh in China
>But get rid of everything fans liked about Nioh!
pure genius at work
75k peak is pretty good though. they probably made profit
the main team ninja team was working on rise of the ronin while wo long got shafted. they thought the chinese market would be enough to carry its mediocrity but not even rotk was enough for them to care.
Gaming is in a weird place where every release is a stealth sequel released by a different company.
Funny how a japanese game proved nobody cares about chinese history and everyone prefers the sengoku japan period instead
Tick tock chinks, tick fucking tock
>2 more w-w-weeks guys!!
Wo Long is objectively a bad game regardless of the Chinese setting.
