Women cannot be gamers. It is biologically not possible.

Gaming should be defended against women.

Gary Gygax said something similar. It's not like they don't exist, but ttrpgs (and a most video games) aren't for them.

    women/girls
    >play more unique games per year than men
    >play video games earlier than boys
    >spend more money per year than men
    >play more hours per day/per year than men (comparing medians)
    >play more tabletop games (Scrabble, Bridge, Bingo)
    common retorts:
    >those aren't real games
unironically have a nice day for arguing about how hard/invested/nerdy a children's pastime has to be to be "real"
    >but some dudes play a lot and not many girls do
men are simply more prone to addiction in general and make up the majority of most addicted persons (although there are a few notable exceptions like alcohol).
it's unsurprising, then, that men are more likely to be addicted to vidya too
    >do these stats include autistic trannies?
No, it specifically excludes trannies. If you included trannies, which you shouldn't btw frick trannies, it would make women even bigger gamers.

No, it's explicitly not an argument. I decided from the outset that I am not having an argument with you about which games are real games.

I don't think I've actively played a shooter past the age of 14, I'm just not not going to delude my self into thinking "women are da real gamers".

It's true, they play a lot of mobile games for some reason.

i mean, i think men and women gravitate towards different games. but why is one "real gaming" and the other less so? literally just men being obsessed with anything male being valued above its female counterpart for no fukin reason

              Anonymous

I don't "value" it more, but games that focus on gameplay (like shooters) are obviously going to be considered """real""" games over things like animal crossing or the sims, wherein the focus is on characters/story or building houses. Especially when you consider that shooters like doom are where games really got popular.

different media has different value. do people genuinely not see value in both.

                Anonymous

obviously they both have value, I'd actually place them at around equal values, I just don't really consider them "games", in the traditional sense, there's a focus on things like dialogue and aesthetics over the actual gameplay. Which, tbf, I would probably enjoy playing something like animal crossing more than competing with autistic sweats in something like rainbow six.

well theoretically is not the same thing as acktchually
i mean its just a matter of semantics. a game is just something which you "play" by emulating an agency of sorts. the agency of the game is different but its the same thing in the end

                >theoretically

i mean thinking about playing it is different than actually playing it
you still probably think its fake and gay

                Anonymous

think what's "fake and gay"? I hate most of the games I used as examples of "masculine" games, and just don't really care about the games I used as examples of "feminine" ones.

              Anonymous

imo playing The Sims is real gaming, but a lot of mobile games are not.

But not counting everything equally is not exclusive to gaming. It's often said that women read more than men, but that's only because what men read isn't counted as "real". When you include Wikipedia articles, anime subtitles, text in video games etc., the gap in reading is much smaller.

                Anonymous

my problem is that this line of thinking ends up devaluing media thats actually pretty cool because men start to associate it with being fake and gay instead of actually being kind of enjoyable
seriously id kill for men to just play animal crossing and realize not everything in life thats enjoyable has to be about dominating over others. which is fine to enjoy on its own, but its not either-or
also i want an animal crossing bf

well, not all, most. I don't doubt that women play more tabletop games than men (although it's completely irrelevant to the thread, since it's about video games specifically). It's also true that men tend to have more addictive personalities than women although i highly doubt that alcohol, of all drugs, is the exception lol

This article is actually based btw if you read it.
American dudes should take better care of themselves and their communities, even nerd shit like LARPing. If you do that, women will just show up looking for dudes and your tribe stays well-loved. It's the fraternity mindset.

Bull-fricking-shit, playing Counterstrike exclusively isn't gaming. Literally not the same community.

Well yeah, the evolutionary psychology stuff is always bullshit. I can only imagine how bullshit evo psych of vidya is.
The part about girls coming to men's spaces, even really nerdy ones like LARPing, is very real though. Literally there are girls sitting at home asking themselves where to go to meet men. You just need to build it and they will come.

except, i do enjoy competitive games
i also enjoy games that are cute and relaxing
why not both? i dont understand this black and white way of thinking, also a game that appealed to women aesthetically that still maintains a competitive aspect would be kino
