Run it in with the software renderer. It does that shit in Spider-Man 2 and Destroy All Humans too.

Man what's the point of a damn emulator if you can't use hardware renderer and upscale shit.

You at-least have the convenience of playing console games without needing to own the console and/or softmod it unless you want to pay some loser on eBay $100+ dollars for one of the survival horror games like Kuon, Rule of Rose, Silent Hill, or Haunting Ground.

this game used to run flawlessly for me with an older version, check the wiki.
I think playing it with the 1.5 version with the fixes mentioned there will make it work.
Or just use dolphin since you're not missing much.

Why is Dolphin able to run most games at almost 100% level of accuracy and even managed to fix an issue that no Gamecube dev ever could but PCSX2 still struggles with basic rendering?

      Anonymous

Nintendo autists are far more committed with emulation development and Gamecube hardware is more basic and well-documented than the weird Emotion Engine RISC shit and custom video chip of the PS2.

It's not about documentation, after all the software renderer fix most of the issues on PCSX2
It's the "how the fuck we do x function in the GPU" that is the hardest part.
Vulkan is a godsend for emulators in general because it is much more flexible than directX or OpenGL, so you get more toys to get to do the "how the fuck".

As an example of "how the fuck we do it" that i just remembered, N64 GPU.
It uses a non-standard floating point format that have different precision issues from the real floating point format and different ways to fuck around with it with int manipulation etc..
It was basically impossible to use regular shaders to do math like the N64 GPU does, but with vulkan you can.

Yeah Vulkan's definitely been a big help to emulators in recent years. I wish they'd start leveraging it for Xenia so we can play Xbox 360 games on Steam Deck without having to install Windows.

      >Dolphin has better devs
      >GameCube is a simple and more straightforward machine
      >PS2 hardware is a clusterfuck and the emulator reflects that
Sony got their shit together with the PS4. Before that they had over designed, over complicated consoles that only sold well because of piracy and home video compatibility

didn't the PS3 take like 2 years to hack? I remember it being a big thing when people started being able to used pirated games.

you need to set button deadzones. the tiniest movement from an analogue stick will tip the input to max because the d-pad only registers 0 or 1 and nothing in between.

PCSX2's deadzone settings don't even fucking work so you have to use third party mapping software. Unless they fixed it in the last few months, which I doubt. I freaking play it on a keyboard just so I can move with wasd.
