You either buy a 5800X3D or a 7800X3D or you buy nothing at all.

7700x is pretty comparable to a 5800x3d and not on a dead platform

Inlel is a straight downgrade from ayymd at every price level
If you want 0.4% more FPS for $200 extra, go for intel. It also doubles as a space heater during winter.

    7700X is 300.
Slow memory and questionable board will cost more than a hundred, but they're still being bundled for a reason, those are lowest of the low and will drag CPU performance down.

Yes, it's good. It's a decent CPU. But check online for that motherboard. Sometimes those AM5 mainboards have memory compatibility issues. They're not necessarily going to check for that shit when they bundle. At least you're not going ANUS, but cheap AM5 mobos are a gamble.

I have a 7700X. Emulates fucking everything I throw at it. I haven't tried to push it up to 8k, but I bet I could.
I does 4k240fps for BotW in CEMU, though.

Yes. But the only stuff I emulate for PS3 has been Demon's Souls, Soul Calibur 4, and Gundam Vs EX-Boost. All at 4k, no dips.

But again, I haven't tried 8k yet. My 7900xt is capable of rendering 8k, but I haven't had the balls to push it yet.

How do I build a computer? There are so many letters and numbers and everyone says a different brand is better 🙁 I'm starting to see why people like prebuilds. For the first time in my life, I have a fancy job and enough money to get whatever I want, so I want to do it right.

I have that motherboard and it fucking sucks, they push out mandatory BIOS updates that breaks shit, and then MSi has the gall to tell people "don't update if you want to avoid issues" despite there being no option to do so.

All new motherboards with built in wifi and made with W11 in mind have the ability to automatically download BIOS updates from the manufacturer and then apply them in the same manner as a Windows update. Only way to opt out is to not be on the internet entirely, but I can't think of anybody who actually does that with a modern PC

Man I wish I had micro centre stores in my country
Great deal for hardware specs but beware cuz of this its cheap for a reason not for tech noobs

I have this combo I bought a while ago. It's great. The reason I bought it:
      >I don't really need more than a 7700x for anything this gen
      >ram is great for this chip and probably okay into the future
      >board will probably last to eol of the socket so I can just pop in a 9700X3D in the future I want
Imho intel is really not worth it right now. Amd is more efficient, although it seems to have poorer performance with shit ram. I think this is a good combo though. Dyor and see if you can get parts cheaper elsewhere OR see if microcenter still has those coupons for 25 off. I was able to stack a few coupons.

Don't forget to turn ur xmp on, turn ur ram and set flclk frequency half of your ram frequency cuz auto sucks

Yes but only if you're competent enough to do a BIOS update right away.

AMD CPUs do a very good job, I was still amazed that the Ryzen 5 3600, from 2019, was still recommended in the requirements of several games this year and last, while my i5-10400 from 2020, was nowhere to be found except in one game, and quickly being replaced by 11400
Besides they are always ahead in technology, for example the i5 I mentioned only had a maximum ram speed of 2666mhz, while the R5-3600 had up to 3200mhz
and the other thing is that only since the 10th generation of i5 Intel started to put more cores, otherwise we would still be stuck with 4 cores

I've been using AMD CPUs off and on for a little over 20 years now. The current Ryzens are the first time they didn't disappoint me in some way at least since the Athlon 64s.

Is AM5 worth switching to from AM4 in general yet?

Depends on what you want to do. But in all likelyhood? No. You should be fine with what you have.

will probably last to eol of the socket so I can just pop in a 9700X3D in the future I want
That was my reasoning behind it, as well.
As the socket enters EoL, I can just pop in the latest mid-range X3D chip, and whatever high-end AMD gpu is out and run it for another 5-7 years.

Also no point in spending more for even more premium ram. Just let prices come down. By the time you need it you can probably just buy better ram for 100 bucks as the platform matures. You really don't need it.
