WoW whore has 36 accounts, raids by himself

wow-36box1-1

In what is perhaps the most shining example of obsession and geekiness I have ever seen, a fella by the name of Bradster has 36 World of WarCraft accounts that he plays on 11 computers simultaneously. He mainly seems to be doing it because he doesn’t like to rely on so many other people to get a raid going, which includes attacking the Alliance capital cities, and on that front I can totally see where he’s coming from.

I hate those Alliance douchebags too, but I’m not about to drop $5711 per year like Bradster is. The best way to get to them is to just live well, right? Well, Bradster doesn’t appear to be letting the Alliance off the hook so easily, as he plans on picking up 36 copies of Wrath of the Lich King on day one, spending around $1500, just so he can have a raid group of level 80 Shamans terrorizing Stormwind as soon as possible.

Read on to see how this crazy man manages to control all of these characters.

From the Bradster himself:

A lot have asked me, why create so many? The main reason is to invade Stormwind and Ironforge when they reach top level. I’m sure the Alliance will put up a big fight when that happens. We’ll see how it goes. If they don’t make level 70 before Wrath of the Lich King, then it will be at level 80. That is my main goal. That will probably happen after I’ve got some PvP gear from the battlegrounds. I’m also planning to do some 25 and 10 man raid instances but that is secondary to my PvP goal. Of course I’ll be doing arenas too to build up PvP gear but I’m not expecting to do that great there because I’m way behind in gear right now. I need to get to level 70 first, then level 80 and by then I will probably have all green gear while most others have been doing the battlegrounds and arenas.

It costs me exactly $5711 in subscription costs per year with 36 accounts on the 6 month pay schedule. Not bad considering I’m looking at it like it’s a hobby and there are more expensive hobbies out there than World of Warcraft.

32 of my shaman are level 61. One shaman that I had before I started the 32 is at level 70 along with 8 other level 70 classes that I had. My mage, priest and druid are in the center of the circle of shaman in the pictures but they are kind of hard to see. I’ve also got some mages and priests that I’m currently working on that are level 23. Once they are at level 31.9, I will stop working on them, get 16 of them to level 60 with the recruit-a-friend bonus levels and work on the shaman again.

When Wrath of the Lich King is released, I plan to be at the store when it opens and will purchase 36 copies of it. With tax, it should be about $1500 for all of them. Then the shaman are on their way to level 80 along with the priest, druid and mage.

By the way, I have 9 level 80 shaman created on the Murmur PvP realm in the Wrath of the Lich King beta. I mainly tried it out to see how well my computers would work as they are. With the exception of one my desktop computers, I should be fine with the hardware that I have.

I use 3 addons in the game. CT_MapMod is used to give me locations for quests, etc. ClassIcons is another addon that I use to show the class of the target. It helps for PvP encounters. Then the last addon I use is SSPVP2 which is excellent for displaying timers and other things while in the battlegrounds.

For my keys to send to all instances of WoW on my 11 computers, I use Octopus 1.3.2. Maximizer in Octopus allows me to start up all WoW instances at the same time or any individual instance such as if a WoW instance has crashed. It also allows me to shutdown all of the computers at the same time.

Here is a picture of my computer set up:

wow-36box2-1

Not shown to the right is another laptop which runs 3 copies that I just moved there. The keyboard on the right was moved to the top shelf there as I don’t really use that keyboard while playing. I have macros that set my main assist/cast/follow. Any of the eight screens to the front can be set to main assist/cast/follow as my mouse scrolls to them all using Octopus.

*UPDATE: As some commenters have pointed out, Bradster is not the owner of Prepared and all of the 36 WoW accounts, he was just the guy that uploaded the links to the forum. Bradster himself has "only" 5 WoW accounts. Bradster is the one who is married, so we don’t really know anything about Prepared’s girl-touching status. You may now continue to unabashedly flame.

if you search loser in the dictionary it come up with “Bradster”

and why spend so much money, yes their are more expencive hobbies but their are cheaper 1’s aswell
you could buy a ps3 and a new game every week and spennd less money then what it would to play a stupid game witch causes people to sit infront of a computer 24/7 and even if you were to play WoW your even more of a loser if your only friends in the game are your self

I wonder why people call him a loser when he’s capable of doing some of us could just dream of. And by all means, don’t be harsh on the guy. It’s his life and it’s sure better than writing “get a life loser” on a game news/forum site. Enough said! Keep going Bradster!

aaaaaahahahaha this is just sad, sad because PUGs/Alliance do suck alot of the time. Sad because one person has resorted with playing with himself (insert pun here) rather than with other people. But you know, this is plain addiction if you ask me. He needs to go to rehab or serious therapy.

Though I think it is a waste of money, there are more expensive hobbies. Clearly he has the money to do whatever he wants, so calling him a loser only makes yourself look ignorant. Even more so because you are on the internet doing it.

Seriosly im gonna have to call the *cleaners* and take you away from home even tought wiht that money you could buy a House :/

And you are gonna feel frustated yourself when your 30-o what ever account end the subcription i never seen a worst guy like you buying mutliple account get a free server :P. I highly suggest you should step outside and pray up to the sky and follow these word

*God…why did i buy 36 account?* and make sure all WoW *healty* players hear ya 🙂

In my opinion there is a limit when a hobby turns to an addiction, and I think this is just not a hobby to this bradster but an obsession.

  9. 15 years ago
    steve

that is just insanity. who has that much time to waste nonstop hours playing just 1 account, but this guys plays 36?! talk about addiction.

i wonder how hot it gets in that room with all those computers and monitors at one time. not to mention his electric bill too.

    Cuedy

Just looking at the picture of all his computers set up, he has to be very smart to create that.
I’ve played WoW in the past & love it. I’m hoping to be able to play it again soon. I really admire this guys intelligence.

    il-mouzer

He does have a life actually, levelling isn’t really that hard and he’s been around doing so for ages. I know him, he’s on my Xfire. I did stop from playing WOW since my job and family took over my life.

Then again he’s been working on his army of 36 gor ages, levelling slowly.

    fifa8817

WOW…not the game but my astonishment- i am astonished at the fact that this guy ‘bradster’ with the obvious technical intelligence does not have the common sense of a child. He has the mass capacitance to be able to set up 10 computers and simultaneously use them effectively but for what? A terrible outdated boring game that conceives hours upon hours of time; time that most people generally like to use having a life. And then the lack of common sense to go onto the internet and post what he is doing as if it is something people would praise him for? Bradster just basically set himself up for failure. I am sorry but it does not cost you exactly $5711 a year to play WOW: $5711 for account fees + $74×10(avg cost of elec for running a cpu for a yr) + $8000 (generous price of 9 CPUs, the 10th CPU most people have in their household) + any chance of getting laid = life.
As you can see bradster doesnt spend ‘only’ $5711 a year to play WOW but his life
It is sad to see such intelligence go to waste… same reason some people are intricate serial killers in prison, they are masterminds but dumba$$es

Obviously he has more than enough money, so why judge his hobby by the expenses?

It’s true that it’s weird to use thousands per year for WoW but does it matter if your bank account says $10000000.00?

  15. 15 years ago
    Cuedy

That’s not a waste of intelligence. No matter how much you already know about something, you learn even more by doing it. If I ever had a company that needed a computer system set up, I would want someone like this guy to be in charge of it.

I love all the people calling him a loser. So, he likes WoW– big deal. Just because a lot of you wouldn’t be able to do this without turning into a hermit with no social skills doesn’t mean he automatically has no life. For all you know he might go out with friends once a week; considering what passes for ’socialization’ around my hometown and college, WoW is a much healthier pastime. (Yeah, binge drinking isn’t my thing, kthx.)

besides, I think some people are jealous that he can afford to drop over $5k a year on WoW. Would that I had that kind of money.

So yes, I think a lot of the mockery is born of jealousy, at least in part. 😉

He might be a loser, but I bet he has way more money than most posting here. And what is a “life” anyway? Going out and getting drunk every Friday and Saturday night? Ogling over drunk women at nightclubs? If he spends his life doing what makes him happy, nobody has a right to judge. I’m with Resto; people are just hating because they can’t have what he has.

  20. 15 years ago
    Santa

Where does it say he has no life?
Leveling is fast, he has the money and the knowledge to do this.
And if he doesn’t play with others he can end the raid and go out anytime he wants (unlike those who play in hardcore guilds).

  21. 4 years ago
    ShinyOne

Raiding in WOW consists of people in Ventrillo getting upset that their “meters” are showing that other players are slacking off.
Then the whole raid has to pause and listen to this person blame every problem in the current encounter on this problem, and then they point fingers and hurt feelings. The raid replaces the “problem” player, either with the same class or a different class that has the ability to do the required job. problem persists despite the replacment and raid breaks up after Mr “my meters show” starts cursing at people. You see, the guy with the meters, he’s usually a raid leader or guild owner/leader. Can’t do a thing about his behavior. Except leave the guild. The next day there will be apologies and the guild will continue on as always.
This is ONE of the social issues you deal with in
    raiding.
This scenerio does not occur in ALL guilds, but goes a long way toward explaining why out of say, tens of guilds that COULD be raiding higher end content, there’s usually only 4 or 5 guilds that actually do have sufficient teamwork and maturity to do it.

To those who didnt get it, he is playing those 36 characters at the same time, using a program, which makes all the characters move when he moves one of them (to put it bluntly). So he can use just as much time as any wow player to the game.

    >”He mainly seems to be doing it because he doesn’t like to rely on so many other people to get a raid going”

When did he say that? As far as I know he could still be raiding or doing other stuff with other players too. I dont think he’s reasons are anywhere near that.

the guy’s a freakin genius. wht he does with his time is his problem, no wait, thts his hobby. so who r we to say wht is SAD.weather he has or doesn’t hav a life. tell u wht he does hav tho, plenty of freakin money, and since its his money,-he can spend it on wht ever the hell he likes. lets remember the reason y he does this. the guy hates ppl screwing up a raid.face it he RAIDS then OWNS then LEAVES. like i said the guys a genius. brilliant even-freakin brilliant NUFF SAID, fanboys.

I’m impressed as well. Not only am I impressed over this guy’s technical knowledge, and his ability to multitask like that, which would obviously be required. But I’m also impressed over how jealous you people are actually able to sound. When it comes down to it you’d all like a set-up like this, hell, I bet most of you would KILL for it. Stop hating the guy cause of his choice for a hobby. I’ll salute you for your skills Mr. Bradster. Good job!

He should just hire some power leveling services to bump all his toons to lvl 70! then pay for them to be bumped to 75,000 honor and THEN pay for them to be arena geared for 1800+ ratings….

If he has the money for 36x that. Which would usually cost like 500$ per account so thats 36×500 = 18,000$

goodluck Bradster, you can be NUMBER 1 by putting all your savings into a game…

Hey man, more power to him. If 5K a year got me a set up that made me feel like an Operator in the Matrix I’d be feelin’ pretty good about myself too. I’m sure there are unhealthier, more expensive hobbies. Cocaine comes to mind.

I’d like to say ‘wow, good on ya, man’, but … sweet chocolate-covered Jesus in a tutu. 36? Really? That’s just a touch obsessive.

  28. 15 years ago
    Kaes

So… enough cash to buy 11 computers capable of running 3/4 copies of WoW, enough for 36 subs a month, and enough to buy all the copies in the first place, and he’s not homeless and presumably not starving to death.

That, I guess, would mean having a job that pays high, and requires little working time. Which means he can do what he likes with his money.

Yeah, compared to everyone saying “LOL sad loser get a life tuch a girl lolololol” he’s TOTALLY the bigger idiot.

    PHANTOM

I think its quite funny that people call him a looser because he plays 36 accounts. He just has the money and enjoys the game. And anotherthing you numskulls seem to be the point that he plays the SIMULTANEOUSLY so HE DOESN’T PLAY MORE THAN THE AVERAGE WoW player. point made

  32. 15 years ago
    wowgirl

Umm.. to the person who mentioned the powerleveling services, etc…
#1. NOT ALLOWED - you can and will get banned for this!! (Whereas it is perfectly acceptable to have multiple accounts and multi-box, as long as you are not using any unacceptable programs, so it sounds like he is doing this correctly)
#2. The stupidest players are those who use power leveling services (you can always tell who they are too - the level 70 who doesn’t even know the basics of the class they are playing)
#3. Really, where is the fun in having someone else level up you chars for you?

And, as some people have already said, he is not taking more time than the average wow-player by doing this because he has a key-cloneing-type program (which is acceptable) which basically means he can run all of his accounts/chars with the same keystrokes.

WoW- players are not neccessarily anti-social-don’t-have-a-life-geeks. My hubby dual-boxes (as do I occasionally) and we play wow with our real life and internet friends, AND we see our friends in real life. WoW is just another way of socializing and/or another way to get away from things for awhile. And, also, I would love to know what kind of job he has that allows him to be able to do that, because, yeah… I’d like that job! 🙂

    IgotNoIdea

People call him a loser… i then look at they lives of those who call him so, and I realize they are… 1) less intelligent than this WoW player, 2) Broke ass hell compared to this WoW player, 3) have no prospects of any kind, 4) some single 40 yr bob belly who jacks off to porn, or 5) some lil high school kid who thinks he’s bad ass watching american idle every chance hes got.

    Read Kaes and s’s comments

Here is a summary of good points on the page, imo:
    1. This guy clearly has the funds to do this, judging by how he is DOING it
    2. He has a program that makes all of his characters move when he controls one of them (pretty much)- meaning he doesn’t have play much more than the average player, really
    3. The people making comments to the effect that he has no life for doing this are commenting on a video game blog, insisting that THIS guy has no life- clearly the best of judges
    4. How many of your, more socially acceptable hobbies, are really “good” for you in the first place?
    5. Also, he is married anyway? Who knows, but if true that pretty much voids the ever popular, ever assumptive, “LOL DOESNT KNOW WHAT A GRL IZ, LOL!!” argument.

that is some nice work uve done there im impressed. i would love to do that aswell. but ive moved to WAR now.

and as to u all ‘OMG HES A LOSER’ farks, do u even know that a so called basement guy could even do 50000 hours of weights while in the basement and pwn all ur faces in real life. just because he plays a game doesnt means hes a loser.

the losers IMO are the people who work to pay off a loan until they die. THEY are the real losers.

the way to not be a loser is to enjoy ur life to the fullest. not none of this OMG IM JEALOUS SO I MUST CALL HIM A LOSER CUZ I SUCK SO MUCH speech.

Ok..I have played WoW since its release. I have 3 level 70s. A hunter in 6/8 t6, a priest in 8/8, and a full s4 druid. I play a lot of WoW. I have about 220+ days play time on those three characters combined. I consider myself a relatively hardcore WoW player…just under a chinese farmer’s status or a guy with a 70 of every class.

There, now you know where I come from. So let’s talk about this douche. I have always had an extreme hatred for shamans. Not because there class is beyond easy-mode, but a majority of the shamans I’ve played with on my server, are always the worst players, the biggest douches, and the biggest loot prostitutes. And, they got CoH nerfed because their precious Chain Heal couldn’t compete with my priest (qq more shamans!).

There is one dude on my server with 4 accounts, with 4 level 70 shaman, which is quad-boxes and they all are elemental, with the exact same gear, and all he does is gank ppl doing dailies. I thought nothing could be more gayatronic in WoW then that…seeing this guy really makes me realize…that as bad as I am when it comes to playing WoW, raiding 4 nights a week when I was raiding for about 20 hours a week (not including dailies and pvp)…that I’m not even that bad haha. And this only further adds to my theory that if you play a shaman, you should be burned in a big fricking fire. GFG.

Just found this on delicious - I’m not a gamer, so any turf wars between different games are beyond me. Nevertheless, I find it interesting that he obviously has a healthier relation to his hobby than most commenters seem to have. Sure, there are cheaper hobbies. Like knitting. How many of you knit? See, a “hobby” usually constitutes sth that fulfills you on one level or another, for others to judge its validity is arrogant and stupid. Unless his wife sleeps under a bridge because $5000 was their livesavings, then this’d be a different matter. Doesn’t look that way. And check his gear - collapse all the money spent on this hobby into some vintage car and noone would argue that it’s a “valid” hobby. So calling him a loser, telling him to get a life, is more of a tell on the commenters psyche, treating their own interests (games in this case) as a guilty pleasure only acceptible within limits you deem appropriate. So is this guy obsessive? Most definitely. Does he need to get a life? I don’t think so - the guy has made a life for himself where he can revel in his obsession - kudos to him. If there’s a problem with that, it’s his wife’s place to judge - neither mine or yours. I for one like crazy people with crazy obsessions, even ones I cannot wrap my head around, like online games.

LoL, man all these comments make me crack up. Most saying how much a loser he is. First off, if you guys don’t play wow why are you even reading about wow subjects, you have lives? you on a website that is dedicated to gaming… You claim that he has no life cause he plays wow? or that he has an excessive amount of accounts and can afford to do what he wants? the people who call him losers what do you do in your spare time? not much i bet, except going on stupid blogs and shit and saying how much of a loser people are for doing what they enjoy. You have 8hour 7 day a week jobs and your life still sucks? I bet it does, he may be a bit over enthusiastic about what he does but u bumb your way through life doing shit jobs and wasting all on alcohol and prosties. So please save you obviously Unique comments to yourselves, put up your hobbies on a blog see how many ppl laugh at your gayness…. Exactly Now STFU

    Awesome Setup man!!!
now im only a simple little setup.. just the 1 box and a simple /target /follow macro ;).. but i have 2 accounts that i was leveling with a couple of years ago.. (long before recruit a friend was useful)

tho i deleted one of them so i could move it to the alliance side and chat with them (PVP server)

got 9 chars here mostly over 60 .. tho only 2 of them are 70’s atm.

Anywayz just wanted to say.. ignore half of these nubs saying get a life… WOW is better then smoking pot or drinkn yerself to death or many of the other lame arse drugs around. And he is only playing 1 chars.. just all the other ones are following / doing same action as his main character.

Keep up the good work.. i understand how ya feel man.. most of the time i cbf finding a group would rather just solo it.. cos most other players are nubs that have ebay’d or power leveld n dont know how to play

… tho hope yer missus aint like mine (she hates wow…) º¿º

What a set up !!.. too sweet..
I can’t see anything wrong with at all. In fact it makes for interesting problem solving, getting comps to work in such a manner is no small feat. So what if he is running 36 WoW accounts. I’m thinking that he does have a life, and currently that involves him playing WoW, and most likely the dude has a GF so stop assuming that you even know him. If your cooking for one, then making a little more for two isn’t a big deal. So when he plays all 36 accounts at once, he is not only playing a lot less than the rest of you, but also getting the most out of it.

And yes when he gets bored of it, he will move on to another project with just as large intent as the last project. More power to him.

Whats shameful is all negative comments and flames, about money, time? and girl friends. I’m not sure where this stems from other than contrived envy and pure stupidity. Since when do you care about how any one spends their time? but now you do all of a sudden, with moral righteousness? Who are you again?.

Buck up, kids, Lots people will have more money than you for fun silly hobbies.

Kind of defeats the object of playing a massively multiplayer online game, if you’re not willing to to play with other players. I can think of better gaming related stuff to spend that kind of money on. The set up does look awesome in a way. Could be very fun if you got a group of mates together with some beers and snacks, each using just the one laptop/account like a normal person, but I’m guessing he hasn’t got any mates. I’ve never played WoW but I always thought the fun was going online with mates and teaming up together. I can’t see how it can be fun playing on your own.

The qualifications for “having a life” has little, if anything to do with money. If you spend all day doing one thing, whether it be WoW, building model airplanes, getting drunk, or working out/training for football, then you’re life-deficient. Obsession is unhealthy and the key to life is expanding your horizons. And your vision toward the world and life itself is almost completely limited if you only view it through a computer screen. I know rich people that have no life and poor people who have experienced more of life than most. The truth of life can’t lie in money or obsession, it lies in experience. If your experience beyond one thing is limited, then I’m sorry to say, the scope of your life is limited as well.

If the guy wants to do it, let him do it. It’s his time/money. Quit being jealous and calling him names because he can do it. Also, if he’s loaded, he probably gets a lot of women (don’t even ask how, it’s pretty obvious). So you can be jealous about that too.

As per thinking he is intelligent or should be setting up a company’s network - why? What he did would take about 2 hours tops in setting up less than $100 in network hardware (dsl/cable router and a switch, although with the cash he has, I bet he has a better hardware and connection than commodity broadband). Anyone can do that by reading the instructions and or help files if they so choose. Getting all the accounts to work together is no impressive feat either. He’s using someone elses programs/scripts to do that. As far as I know, he didn’t write or contribute to any of them. Get some tutorials and learn to play WoW and done.

Agree with everyone who says that this is a valid hobby, though I wouldn’t go so far myself. Enough with the damn insults.

And for those who say that WoW is boring, meaning to say that they can’t imagine how this guy can bear playing it with 36 accounts:

Well, I’ve never played WoW myself, but I’ve played some text-based MMORPGs, which even more people find boring, including WoWers. It was fun only when you were fighting for the top place as a single player. However, I then started on using multiple accounts, and I realized that the strategies available went up by a whole magnitude.

There was soo much more that could be done with multis, it became much more strategic, much more exciting. And once you get into having 100+ accounts (which isn’t that involved with scripts in a text-based game, takes only one computer), then it’s like you’re the general in a huge army, just deploying a character as if it were an expendable soldier. It’s a lot more fun than running a single account, and requires more usage of that damn gray matter. Good stuff.

To Resto and kvn: You need to understand that going out drinking on the weekends is not the social alternative to WoW. You act as if this guy playing 36 accounts is saving him from becoming an alcoholic, but you don’t know that. There are plenty of alternatives that don’t include alcohol or video screens of any kind. I hear this argument all the time, that playing WoW keeps people from doing stupid things in RL like drinking too much or doing drugs, but I think WoW does more harm than good.

That said, I will have to agree with you about leaving this guy alone. I don’t judge people when they drink too much, or when they tell me they’re in a T6 raiding guild. I would prefer to not spend my time or money doing what this guy is doing, or my time and money drinking too much (for the same reason; afterwards, you feel terrible) but what he does with his time or money is not my choice, or really my concern.

Something to point out. Most hard core raiders or those who would LIKE to hard core raid, spend hours and hours raiding, and loot is 1. not only chance of the game dropping what you want but 2. if you roll against those of the open classes for that item, and win. In a big raid, that means you spend alot of time rolling. Or else in a DKP guild, you spend alot of time raiding simply to earn DKP so you can get the item.
Now consider the fact that, leveling is easy, especially now, in WoW. Add in the fact that the article clearly said he plans to use Recruit-A-Friend bonus leveling to level some of these characters, then add in the fact that he can appropriate loot as he sees fit, no rolling, no LFM, or waiting for raid guildies to log on, or forum arguments. Now add in the fact that.. Nobody here knows squat about his personal life, his financial situation, AND then top into that that this is an article… about a gamer. So, unless youre a gamer, why are you reading this? Whether or not you still play the above mentioned game still, you are still taking the time to 1. read this and 2. post a negative response, judging this person for his personal choices that you have no in depth details on. And as modified in the statement, he only owns 5 of the accounts. Now “only” may be a relative term as thats still alot for the average player. But once again, nobody here knows his.. Job.. his.. personal life. His social life… All anybody knows, is he has one heck of a computer set up, and has a set up that allows him to play a ton of characters at once, so the guys obviously really computer-smart. So logging on and calling names, and making financial judgements or statements about what a lack of personal life he must have, are completely irrelevant and uninformed. They may be true. and they may not be… and whether or not they are, none of it really matters, because theyre his choices to make. If he wakes up in 10 years and wonders where his life went, he is the one who will have to account for it. Not you.

I have tried to do this before in like 2005. I got upto 10 accounts running at once with a program called “Mimic” and gave up. Plus then I got married and agreed to go down to 2 accounts, heck saving 120 bucks a month is a decent dinner for 2 for me and my wife. And I like to score points there.

I say to each his own if that makes him happy then by all means do what makes you happy, life is too short.

I do have a setup that I currenly use that is like that when I had my 10 accounts however, i turned most of the space and hung a couple of Tv’s so when its football season I can watch my games on the weekend and still raid and keep up on both.

All I ask is you dont make your seat a toliet, nothing good can come from that. lol
