The handheld will run games locally and I'm sure you can stream on it as well. Because why couldnt you?

Frick if I know, Xbox is a lich fueled by Microsoft's infinite money.

The current rumors have it so they're outsourcing the consoles, so that handheld Xbox would be made by companies like Lenovo and not Microsoft. Basically, generic windows UMPCs would now be their "new handheld" and I think they might want the same approach for the consoles like with Steam machines.

        Anonymous

That would be an even bigger failure than Xbox's current state of affairs. Microsoft already tried this with MP3 players and smartphones and it didn't work.

It's really hard to do worse than Xbox is currently doing this gen. It's performing worse than the Series S and sales have already floundered on it's 3rd year. It sold less than the Switch this holiday season despite being cheaper than it and GamePass can't manage to get more subs than NSO either despite being on PC and mobile. The truth is that Xbox hardware is already dead.

            >It's performing worse than the Series S
That should be it's performing worse than the Xbox One. All the current gen sales were frontloaded during the pandemic and when the PS5 couldn't be easily bought.

            >It's really hard to do worse than Xbox is currently doing this gen.
Imagine current Xbox, except 30 different companies are selling their own version of it now instead of just one. If any average consumer is even still considering Xbox, they will run far away and never look back. Nobody wants to deal with that level of bloat for what should be a simple product, especially when there's nothing to make it worth it.

              Anonymous

I think the sunk cost is what keeps driving people to buy Xbox right now regardless. As long as it plays their Xbox library, that's most likely all they need. If new people were going out to buy an Xbox it wouldn't be performing as poorly as it is and if people want a cheap games box then they'll most likely find it with that many companies trying to compete to sell their device. It's really no different than graphics cards, your average buyer just sees 4080 or whatever and doesn't really care if it's ASUS, MSI, GIGABYTE, or ZOTAC.

oh, god, thanks for correcting yourself. I thought I had lost track of what fricking Xbox we were on again

The fact that I can still easily mess up the names shows just how poor their naming scheme is.

This is not stupid at all in fact.
Microsoft seems to have something in there, let's say they allow running OEM Xbox OS on, for example, gaming laptops, pre-builds etc, I know a lot of people who would switch or even literally install Xbox OS instead of Windows on their existing machine, because Windows is simply cumbersome. Piracy would be the only reason to keep Windows if Microsoft literally released a full on gaming oriented OS, and most normies don't give a shit about piracy.

It did. Xbots thought their loyalty wasn't rewarded.
This is an even bigger, more moronic move.
Copying Kinect led to the downfall of the 360, there are already Switch imitators out there, and there is less and less of a reason for anyone to buy any Xbox related hardware.

just because some cry baby console war homosexuals said xbox is leaving the market doesnt mean they are.

They just purchased activison. Do you really think they just immediately will say frick it were out of here? That is the dumbest assumption i ever heard. The hive mind behind this mindset is literally aids to society.

It's just a rumor and all, but I wonder how no one saw how good an idea it was to make your console also handheld. I guess the Wii U's failure scared them off, but it's hard to think that no one saw the potential in the idea.

If they have the Surface team doing the handheld, and have mods and/or allow Steam on it, I could see it doing really well. With no mods, the same games are likely going to be available on another store, there is no point in getting the MS one unless the hardware is really good (its possible, the Surface team is not bad).
