Xenoblade

Is this series actually good? Only thing I know about it is when Dunkey posted some dude having a threesome in one of his tweets and thought this series was moronic

Naturally I planned to play in order, 3 just happened to be the first jpeg google image result

Emulated the first one a month ago, lasted 2 hours, uninstalled it. MMO go here kill mob quests. Bad gameplay, bad character design.

Is this exaggerated or is this legit the gameplay?

Combat is stand close to enemy, game auto attacks, some skills do more if you're at the flank or behind the enemy. It's a WII game, to be fair.

No. Xenoblade 2 is quite possibly the worst game I've ever played.

      Anonymous

First one is terrible and if I had played it first I would have never played any of the others.

But I didn't so I'm still playing. 3 has bits of 1 and 2 in it. There's a whole 2 characters from 1 that are relevant so read up on the bird area or play 1 till the bird area then quit because it's a slog.

All 3 games play different, as well as the chronicles x also playing different so you'll like some more then others based on what battle you like best.

If you're in it for story they're all decent if you like the guys story telling methods.

      2 is a masterpiece

1 is amazing, 2 is fricking incredible & 3 is good

      X is never getting ported

      Play 1 and X, skip 2 and 3.

You guys are giving me such wildly different opinions, seems like if I care about the story at least, then I should at least try 1 then.

The reason you get wildly differing opinions is because there are two main groups of people who play XBC. See picrel. That's basically all you need to know to understand why 1 and 3gays can have sane discussions while all 2gays can do is scream and piss while furiously jerking off to a child robot and 2 mommies with giant milkers.

If someone says 2 is good while 1+3 are shit, you may safely ignore their opinions.

Imo all 3 games are decently fun stories. 3 is the most consistently compelling narrative but still suffers from some inconsistency in delivery. 2 is all over the place and also suffers from gacha shit and anime tropes out the wazoo but still has some really great areas and a reasonably interesting plot line. 1 is decent but is clearly a first installment in the series.

My play order was: 3, 2, 1, 3 again. And I really enjoyed it. It lets you pick up a great experience from 3, then you backfill lore while playing 2 and then 1. Then you play 3 and marvel at how many new things you recognize. Don't forget to play Torna after 2, it's a standalone DLC that is basically 2's combat system but with all the stupid shit taken out and with a coherent tutorial.

Xenoblade 1 and 3 are both shallow as shit when it comes to combat systems. There is simply no debate on this. 2 just has way more going on. Most of the people I see b***h about the game complain that it's too confusing how they throw so much at you and they get bored which is a valid take. But calling people who like it coomers is such a massive cope.

            Anonymous

2 has a combat system that can be solved as soon as you can perform a full elemental burst. Every fight that doesn't have an instant kill gimmick plays out exactly the same. It's remarkably unfun.

        Anonymous

Because they all play different, my fav is the one on wiiu but I played with a friend on the game pad and me on the tv. If I was a single player I would have hated it because on the game pad you micro manage your town and resources but if youve got a second person managing all that its way better.

But all the games hours in are still explaining how to play. At the beginning of 2 yeah it's like oh boy get close let them auto attack, frickin wait....special...wait... But then by the time I've got hikari, if rex ever auto attacks I'm doing something horribly wrong.

1 felt more traditional jrpg but so grindy slow I couldn't handle it. Never finished but got fat enough to understand what was going on in 3

          Anonymous

2 never actually explains how to do its combat fully. There's some YouTube video people always say to go watch, but imo between the gacha and the combat, 2 isn't worth devoting all your time to perfecting, just go play 3 whose mechanics are far better fleshed out and will reward you more for investing in them.
Oh and people always complain about being over levelled in 3, but personally I didn't mind it because none of the story fights are *actually* challenging compared to the postgame challenges and those actually reward shit.

            Anonymous

My problem with being overleveled wasn't with the challenge, as Moebius still put up a good fight.
It's that you get no class XP at all when overleveled, which naturally happens if you do any side content, even if you don't spend any bonus XP at camp.

What can I say? I prefer when story fights put up enough resistance that you get to use your moves and shit, but I am not here to play Dark Souls. I am playing an anime game about feelings and friendship. Leave the actually hard challenges to the postgame when you have a full roster and can actually strategize.

1 is good, 2 is great, 3 is a kind of disappointing mish-mash between 1 and 2 and should've been better, but it's still a decent game overall. X is kind of a different thing, it's not as good as the others in a lot of ways but does some things differently and still has a great world.

I hated the combat but I liked how the class is designed the most in 1. 3 letting you play as everyone as every class at the same time actually made encounters really boring because it plays out the same way every single time.

2 never actually explains how to do its combat fully. There's some YouTube video people always say to go watch, but imo between the gacha and the combat, 2 isn't worth devoting all your time to perfecting, just go play 3 whose mechanics are far better fleshed out and will reward you more for investing in them.

Nobody is going to stick with the post game challenges if they didn't already have a good time with the base game's combat

1's combat system is ruined by the level difference based evasion penalty/buff.

In 2 once you've mastered the combat system you can beat the game without farming/leveling and doing quest which is impossible in 1 (unless you activate 1 DE's easy mode)

In X level are mostly irelevant thanks to skells.

Character levels aren't that relevant to an extent but I tell you what doing a mission in that first Urban and getting it fricking one shot by a random level 99 kill-on-sight giga homie that happened across my level 25 combat encounter was a rude awakening

  15. 2 weeks ago

1 didn't age very good, very barebones and ugly as frick. 2 is jankblade. 3 feels like the first properly made xenoblade game but the setting and cliches already got old by this point, the music slaps though.

  16. 2 weeks ago

3 specifically is the Worst in the series. Still ok. 1/2/x are great all for very different reasons

  17. 2 weeks ago

They all have terrible gameplay, like auto attack and press skills once in a while, I advise playing on the lowest difficulty so you can at least skip that part asap.
The stories are decently fun but overall xc1 is the worst one. 2 and 3 are cool but different. X is an unfinished mess.

Xenoblade is one of those series in which I have sworn many times to play but barely managed to get through because I would lose the interest and play something else.
I think now that I'm going to be in situations in which my switch will be my primary console for a while I think I may just continue XB2 at least.
XB1, XB3, and now Torna may as well be put in an indefinite backburner.
Also Stellar Blade and Nier Automata have finally convinced me to finally drop ENG VAs for Korean/Japanese ones (aka the native language for said games) so maybe I might get more enjoyment out of them.

I was just lazy for a long ass time but after finishing Stellar Blade and enjoying that game's story in it's native language it really did open the door for me to pretty much treat video games like anime when it comes to audio.
Now obviously not every game is going to be treated that way, I'll still replay some games like the Sonic Adventure games or Kingdom Hearts in full english because I'm just used to it, but if Japanese audio is available I might just switch to that for other games.

I personally just prefer the dub for anime games, idk why. I'm not english so I don't get second hand embarrassment I guess. Except for xc2, that one was really bad.

XC1's dub had a ton of personality which made it a perfectly acceptable alternative. XC2's voice director seemed to think he could grab literally anyone off the street in Bri'ain and get the same results. Considering a lot of the XC1 cast went on to do a really good job in FFXIV it was pretty obvious how there was a talent component XC2 didn't have.

It's vastly overrated. I've played 1 and the story has its moments but it gets quite repetitive at times because the story is quite slow until it's way too fast. Frick the genocidal villain getting a heroic send-off.

The combat also makes no sense at times with bosses unavoidable insta-kill moves and you literally can't hit enemies more than 5 levels above you so there's a lot of grinding.
