Comfy thread for the Yakuza series?
Play the series in release order you fuckin cretins Emulation isn't hard
I am not touching OG 1.
OG 2 is better than Kiwami 2 though.
Please be nicer
>Replaying 1-2 because of Autism
No. Play K1-2 and blame Sega for not remaking 3-5 like they should've done when you hit the PS3 limitation wall.
>blame Sega for not remaking 3-5
The only one that arguably could use a remake is 3, but 4 and 5 are just fine the way they are.
it's rare to see a fellow freethinker in a yakuza thread
3-5 don't need remakes. Not yet anyway.
1 and 2 did because they were dated PS2 games.
0 is the best game.
Start with 0, don't listen to shitters that preach release order.
0 will make you a fan of the series and give you tolerance when you go back to play the older games
0 is the best game.

0 will make you a fan of the series and give you tolerance when you go back to play the older games
The only people who think that 0 is the best are the ones who are biased and started with it.
Agree with 3 being shit, but 4 and 5 are fine the way they are.
>suggesting you play both 1 and 2 and K1 and K2
Fucking hell anon, they can be enough of a slog as is, no need to torture yourself
Those settings don't work anymore even if you opt for the original version of PCSX2, you'd have to find years old versions to get it to work. Even then that specific image shows that the lighting is broken which is a big problem with PCSX2 if you're not playing at native resolution. Tons of the lights either do not have their rays of light or aren't shining at all like those dots on the right in your image. There was only one guy who managed to get the game working with no broken lighting when going above native resolution and his settings also don't work anymore. Even then you had to play at 800x800 or something like that.
This is how it's supposed to look if you upscale to 4K, but it can only be done on the HD versions. I really wish that one person didn't spend their time undubbing the PS2 version and instead just translated the PS3/Wii U versions since they're better in every way to the PS2 versions and don't have emulation issues.
>don't play the best game in the series
>just go through another 120 hours of the exact same shit bro including spin offs
currently on chapter 10 in Y2, the atmosphere, style and music are 1000000x better than kiwami, more detail like npcs sitting outside stores or proper facial animations, the only problem is walking takes so much time because kiryu is so slow
I will once there is a set on retro achievements.
I'm surprised they haven't just applied 1&2 HD's trophies. I bet if someone did make one they'd be dicks and require 100% in the completion lists or maxing out Haruka's friendship in 2. You already have to max out her friendship in 1 for a trophy.
Play the series in its intended language you fuckin cretins Japanese isn't hard
Best heat action of all time?
The cigarette from 3.
I always like the comically lethal ones. Tossing them off buildings has to be my favourite.
Essence of GIWTWM
the guitar one is cool too
Essence of Torment is my absolute favorite due to how absurdly lethal it is
There's a lot of good ones, Essence of Dragon '88, Most of Kenzan's, Cigarette throw, Shinada's wall slam, Kiryu's pavement face grinder from 5, Brawler's knife disarm. There's too many good ones.
it's the fucking kettle
the stone cold poker face on kiryu/majima is what brings it home
Poured some table salt on some guy's face the other day.
Felt good, man
Is it just me or was Kiryu a bit meaner than usual in 5?
To be fair they targeted both his son and daughter in that game.
>Is it just me or was Kiryu a bit meaner than usual in 5?
That was Suzuki Taichi.
Hard to just pick one
The slamming nails in a guys face is pretty brutal
All of saejimas heat actions have him literally kill the guy
Either the smoking taunt, the salt in the eyes one, the iron one, either of the pliers ones, or the tea for me. Umeboshi and orange ones are also good.
Can't you do this one to Kuze during the 3rd fight with him?
I think it's in his last fight because I believe Tenkaichi has a stall with one.
The one counter where they try to uppercut you and you slam your elbow onto their knuckles
Throwing people of buildings
Thanks for all the answers guys. One of many reasons for why this series is amazing.
sex with reina
I finished 5 recently. Why were people saying this was the best game in the series? 0 is still better by a significant margin. 3 is still the low point and not necessarily a bad game, just not a good one, but 5 was being talked up like the second coming of Christ and ended up just being pretty good. It seesaws between really good shit like snow village kino hunting time/taxi drifting through the highway to eurobeat and a shitty rhythm game with horrible story pacing/Tsukimino being the worst designed city in the franchise. Shinada's story was also great, and Takasugi was the most based character of all time, but there are so many plot threads left dangling at the end of the game I got whiplash. Can't wait for 6 to be an absolute piece of shit.
5 was the one that we didn't get for the longest time.
It's the same reason FF5 is the favorite of many here.
ffags waited more than twice as long for 3
Yeah, but that's not the cool one.
because 3 is shit. 5 on the other hand is good, and therefore liked. having to wait isn't a factor
Being a contrarian gay saying how 4, 6-10 all suck is a factor though.
well those are just shitposters anon
No shit. Most vocal FF5 fans are shitposters.
Because when 5 came out in the west the series was presumed dead and it was out of nowhere and still has to this date the biggest amount of minigames and sidecontent in the series. From a story perspective it starts out way too slow, Saejima's character is a complete slog and him going back to jail again is comically nonsensical, Haruka's chapter is terrible and you get to play as Akiyama for a whole 5 seconds and then the ending is absolutely terrible. It makes up for all those shortcoming by having absolute stellar gameplay a great final boss and Shinada's story being self-contained kino. It's not THE best but it's up there with 0, Ishin and Judgment IMO.
>Can't wait for 6 to be an absolute piece of shit.
Well it is a huge steaming pile of shit because the engine is rough, side content is awful and minimal and the story is just Kiryu cleaning up after Haruka and Tojo for the umpteenth time and doesn't even feature a satisfying conclusion to his arc, and that's not even getting into the combat being a complete mess of removed features and overall jank thanks to being the first dragon engine game.
>Theres a model rip of Y1-2 Majima
>It's not anywhere to be found
Never played any of these games but a friend gifted me Yakuza 0 on Steam. Is this a good entry to this series?
Yeah. It's the best game in the entire series though so if that bothers you then you can play Kiwami 1-2/OG 1-2, then 3-6 and then you can play 0 if you want the best for last.
0 is the best of the Kiryu games, but it brought in alot of fans that can't handle the older games.
Release order is the way to go. Always.
>3 to 4 to 5 to kiwami to 0 to 6 to kiwami 2
1 -> 2 -> 3 -> 4 -> 5 -> 0 -> K1 -> 6 -> K2
>both 1/2 and K1/K2
Holy fucking autism, just pick one set of either
I disagree bro. Those fags that complain are just idiots when they expect modern tier shit from older games.
I argue release order for most series. Yakuza is asking a lot to get to the best stuff. Asking to be burnt out if you're going to binge.
I don't get the idea why anyone needs to binge if they don't like it?
I started from 1 when 3 was coming out and it wasn't until Lost Judgment that I was caught up with the series.
What the fuck is the rush? They are videogames, they do not expire. Except modern ones like Overwatch.
That's for the person to decide. Each person has their preferences ye
Telling someone to not binge is the same thing as telling them to play release order even with old jank which they might or might not be tolerant to.
End of the day you give fags your recommendation, realistic expectations and they can decide as per their preferences.
I wouldn't recommend anyone to binge any videogame series.
To each their own ye. If I get into a series I like to enjoy all of it.
Then again binging was fun back in the day. Now Yakuza has too many games to get through.
>Yakuza is asking a lot to get to the best stuff
the original yakuza 2 is the best stuff
they're different enough that there's nothing to lose by trying both
lying cat is lying
I started with 0, and most emocional yakuza is yakuza 3, okinawa plot and all these kids are really touching.
>Is this a good entry to this series?
Yes, and the best game.
is the best one entry on the series.
What items should I carry for more comedy?
I couldn't stop laughing when I realized the heat action used mikan from my inventory in Y0.
mew shoes on a whole NG+ playthrough
Always carry pliers around.
So why was the Japanese insert song for the Daigo vs. Shinada fight in 5 so homoerotic?
What game should I play if I'm only really bothered about playing one in the series. Preferably the ones on Gamepass
What is the best Yakuza movie one could watch?
Either 0 or K1.
Versus 2000, it has yakuza and zombies and one of the character is basically Majima
>50 posts in
Has he been killed?
Probably just writing half a book to answer some post from 3 hours ago
>"If you're going to be like this, what did you even become a yakuza for!?"
4 has the best looking kamurocho at night
It looks the exact fucking same in 3 and 5 .
>The Tojo Clan is a heavy cross to bear. It's time I showed you just how heavy.
yeah I'm thinking 4 was kino city
>movie game, JAPAN
Just finished the kaito files. Felt like a big step down from LJ in terms of writing. Having beast style back was fun, though
>big step down
and all, but if anything Kaito Files convinced me RGG needs to do a second Y5, that acts as a four part anthology again with different characters.
The pacing improvement over LJ was night and day, the characters might have been less intense but still great, but the story was my favorite since judgment, and top 5 rgg overall.
Also kino final boss, glad I didnt get spoiled
Personally I didn't feel invested in the situation at all, felt like the pacing was way too rushed and never really gave us a chance to give a fuck about the heroine. also >she didn't actually kill anyone was a rubber bullets moment. The final boss was very poor as well, just a deranged evil guy with no motivations beyond "he lies and kills without any regret or second thoughts in order to obtain money" whereas Judgment and LJ both had interesting villains.
The pacing I preferred since they could start focusing on the newer characters sooner, using fanservice to get through the early sections.
The mikiko reveal was very silly, as was the first final boss being Jingu 2.0, where any possible redeemable qualities were explained away to make him the most comically evil piece of shit. The wine poisoning scene gets bonus points for the nostalgic feeling of a yakuza scene being so ott evil yet so dumb, you have to laugh, like Y3's bulldozer scene or "the real story of the noodle shop massacre".
plus the true final boss is literally me
I'm at the age where: virtual family >>>>> virtual gfs
Does any other game have rain during gameplay? I was so hyped seeing LJ feature rain, but it only ever plays during cutscenes
I loved the Kaito Files. Really, really wish it was longer though.
Mikiko is ultimate babe.
Lost paradise is on sale yet again for 5,98 € on PSN, should i get it?
yeah if you've played Judgment
it's an improvement on the original in every respect except possibly the main story (and even then still close)
anon lost paradise is the fist of the north star game
whoops didn't read properly
dunno haven't played lost paradise
Absolutely, man. The main question here is WHY DON'T YOU ALREADY HAVE IT?!
Was fighting Tendo and he did his OHKO, now I gotta complete the millennium tower again and try to not go insane.
What a piece of shit, I'm using Ichi, Saeko, Joon GI and Adachi
Yeah, it's dumb. Either equip the one accessory that stops instakills or train up Hero until you get Peerless Resolve at 16.
Make sure you use the ichi skill that stops him from dying and keep it up at all times
grinding out all these school stories is getting a bit tedious.
If you're at the motorcycle one then it should be the last one you do. I'd recommend not smashing through them all or it will drive you insane, especially the fucking robotics club
You can at least automate Robotics so you don't even have to think, it's really not hard at all and can be done in like an hour or two. Just get two hammers, the attacker AI, and two of the all-rounder frames. They AI will completely spawncamp your opponents and almost never die, and when they do die they just respawn and go right back to spawncamping. Then you just use the speedy frame to grab parts and pile on the tiles leading to the enemy base to overtake it. Each battle shouldn't take you more than like 40 seconds.
I just bruteforced it by making one decent mobility bot as my lead and putting two snipers on hunter bots. spent the whole substory getting pushed 200 squares by any enemy and only winning by rushing their home territory. the sidegame fucking sucked though
Yeah, never use guns because of exactly what you said. They barely ever hit anything and the defense models are absolute garbage because they're so slow. The hammers can one-shot enemies and then add on the all-rounder part and your AI can tank like three or four hits as long as you have the right chips equipped. I only ever stopped seeing enemies not get spawncamped near the finale when a few of the opponents had their gun robots manage to land a hit on my guys before dying so they got out because mine were on respawn.
Robotics Club isn't even annoying. The games end quickly if you just rush the base camp. The Death Races were far more annoying because of how long they take and how many they make you do, it was just pure padding.
I'm sick of the yakuza 0 villains showing up on anything possible now quite frankly, makes their appearance in 0 seem like an eye-roller now
I think they're just trying to drum up interest in Ishin with the tons of people who only played 0 and refused to try any of the other games
im just glad ishin is happening
This demake isn't ishin, 0fag.
Explain how its not.
Not him but Ishin Kiwami is mostly its own thing due to them doing a bunch of revamps. It's not the same as the original and won't be the same experience.
>Combat is now different because of the addition of the Battle Dungeon cards in everyday combat.
>Battle Dungeon enemies are apparently going to be roaming around the overworld ala Shakedown.
>Battle Dungeon is completely different and we've already seen a giant oni-looking enemy that's three times the size of Ryoma in it.
>It doesn't seem like Battle Dungeon recruits roam around the overworld anymore for you to get their cards or they haven't shown them roaming around.
>Bosses now use (and heavily spam) Battle Dungeon cards meaning you're going to see less of their original moveset in combat which is a massive disservice to the few unique boss movesets the game does have.
>HP bar is now one single bar like 6 instead of the multi-colored bars from Ishin.
We also don't know if the single bar means less HP or not, I couldn't tell with Izo 2 and I didn't really want to analyze it heavily.
>Many new substories featuring characters from 0 which is going to be really weird since Bacchus is just William's model but scruffier yet they're both going to be in the same game.
>Gion's yuujo minigame is going to be different because they're adding more of them.
>The Awano main story bits are going to come off far weirder than Hayashi.
>Sawashiro being Takechi is by far the dumbest choice they've made and spoils you that he's the final boss when that takes like 2/3rds of the game to figure out.
>Adachi replacing Kondo also completely removes any mistique around that character.
>Han replacing Kugihara makes zero sense as he sticks out like a sore thumb for what Kugihara is supposed to be in terms of a character, especially since Ishin is about Japan distrusting foreigners.
One argument I saw was that Chinese and Koreans aren't on the same tier as Europeans.
>They're censoring the story a bit.
>One argument I saw was that Chinese and Koreans aren't on the same tier as Europeans.
in what sense? they can put Han or Zhao in and just call them Japanese
Han is Korean and he literally has white hair. Ignoring him being Korean, this is a guy with bleached hair that is meant to be an information gatherer who tortures people and roams around in the dark yet wears a golden outfit when even Sengoku was less gaudy than that. He sticks out like a sore thumb for his job and seeing him in that chapter 3 or 4 bit posing as a beggar was ridiculous. Kugihara sold the part because he looks unhinged and his entire face is cut up so he sells the fact he's a homeless beggar who would probably like in Mukurogai or torture people. Pretty boy doesn't at all.
Does Yagami get a trilogy, or does the beatemup combat go to a new spinoff series next? What do you guys hope for and what do you think will happen?
I'd love another Yagami game, but I remember someone saying that the actor is busy until 2024 or something so it might be awhile.
RGGS is also pretty booked up until at least 2024 with Ishin Q1 2023, Gaiden Q3 2023 and RGG8 Q1/2 2024. Maybe Judgment 3 late 2025?
If 'Joryu' isn't a party member for Ichiban, it means that 8 is going to be split between RPG style and pre-7 gameplay. I can't fathom how they'd justify random chinpira dickheads on the street turning into wizards and degenerates for Kiryu like they do for Ichiban.
They have confirmed that Kiryu and Ichiban will both have separate parties.
I have no expectations for how they'll justify that, and fear that it'll be awkward and forced. If it means more interactions between Majima and Kiryu, where they're not trying to kill each other. I'm all for it. Maybe now that the Tojo Clan is dead Majima will start to tame the Mad Dog.
>Yokoyama explained the decision to develop Like a Dragon 8 as an RPG as being the most reflective of the game's storyline, particularly because both Kasuga and Kiryu would be working towards "a certain goal" alongside their allies. He was careful not to reveal story details, but expanded on its themes.
>He said the concept behind the game was to show the contrast between a character who carried the past with him and a character who carried the future with him. The reasoning behind reintroducing Kiryu, whose story was meant to come to an end with Yakuza 6, as a protagonist was the same. Yokoyama expressed awareness it sounded uncharacteristic of Kiryu to rely on others in such a way, but he hoped fans would be open to the scenarios depicted regardless.
It's understandable. Kiryu is in his mid 50s now, will be in his late 50s by the time LAD8 comes out.
I'm thinking that Ichiban will be the one to help Kiryu get his life back, and that'll be when the torch is passed.
Kiryu has Majima, Saejima, Daigo.
Ichiban has Adachi, Nanba, Saeko.
Will 100% be based.
>Kiryu, Majima, Saejima, Daigo having to 4v1 vs SUZUKI, CAPTAIN OF THE LITERALLY WHO CLAN
Really bizarre to see people shit on remakes, but then lap up the Kiwami games even though they’re the epitome of low effort soulless cashgrab remakes
No games since 4 have had any soul. it's retarded how far the series fell after it
The Kiwami games are just cashgrab with no effort placed into them
the beginning of the end. retarded shit from start to finish, felt like there was a new writer doing it
not even an RGG game
So you never had a compelling argument to begin with
How… expected of you…
Not the case at all.
Kiwami was an anniversary game that tied-in to Yakuza 0, also expanded on Nishikiyama's story and showed how/why he changed.
Kiwami 2 had cut content, but it also added things that tied it in to Yakuza 0 and Kiwami too.
They're certainly not lazy.
Wow they added new cutscenes for Kiwami.
Meanwhile the game reuses cutscenes from the original down to the exact animations, kamurocho, the combat system from 0, boss movesets from previous entries, minigames from 0, and still ends up cutting substories and things from the game.
They couldn’t even be bothered to remake all the cutscenes for the substories that had them, so now they have the generic animations play and it pretty much worsens all of them.
Compare this to any of the mainline games which introduce way more new content and ideas.
They’re cheaply made cashgrabs and you’ll never convince me otherwise.
EVERY Yakuza game reuses things, man. Every one. From Heat Actions to animations and everything in between.
That’s obvious but they still introduce new things inspire of that.
Kiwami reuses more than any of them and introduces very little in the way of new content while also cutting content that was there in the original.
It’s shoestring budget cashgrab
is there a decent way of farming money in Lost Judgment? I started buying new bike parts, and didn't pay attention to the costs and lost over 1.5 million.
Same as the first game, Paradise VR aka Dice & Cube. It's actually faster in LJ as well since the boards are smaller and there's not as much bonus chasing. If you don't want to touch that then the second fastest is gambling but good luck with that since that'll take forever.
>Paradise VR aka Dice & Cube
I know it's not fitting for Yagami as a character but I really wish the Judgment games had a proper coliseum.
Do all the squirrel things to get a bunch of cheat items for gambling - should make you at least 10 mil. Also get a free pass for Dice & Cube to do Tashiro's substory and that'll make you at least 2 or 3 more million
Buy cheat items and play blackjack.
the cheat items are 1-use, right?
Yeah, but you make a ton of money out of them. Pop the dealer bust amulet and win 7 hands in a row, then the blackjack amulet and win 5 hands. You should have enough platinum plates to make 6-8 million
They are but the some like the blackjack ones last a few rounds. With the blackjack amulets you want to save a bunch to use one after the other at the max bet amount.
