Besides taking down multiple enemies with the final heat action upgrade, does agent have any real flow or purpose to exist? The yakuza style isnt as indepth as it is in other entries either, but it at least feels good to use, and you can feel your hits doing serious damage. Agent feels really fucking unsatisfying, especially the dumb ass gadgets.
Rant aside, fucking loved it. I had my doubts with Yokoyama's potential as a writer, but the refrences to previous game plots coming back in a fun way, and that FUCKING ENDING have convinced me. Infinite Wealth is gonna be peak.
Now if they would only remake Kurohyou 1&2 or at least start a goddamn sequel. The combat system in those games felt refreshing compared to destroying multiple thugs like its absolutely nothing.
Explains a fair lot. Either way, my hopes arent at rock bottom after the iffy experience I had with 7. I like Ichiban as a character, but the half-baked RPG mechanics and sorta lackluster story that felt like it was really unsure in itself resulting in feeling like they needed to bring back all the cast made it feel like a really bad fanfiction than a standalone product. At least we got Judgement and Lost Judgement.
Anyway, played a bit of the demo included. THIS is what 7 should've been from the start. Things feel way better and more sure in its RPG direction rather than half baking it
>walk into crowds with charged Rush combo >enjoy Y0 Beast destruction
agent honestly sucks cock outside of looking flashy and spamming Kiwami Rush in crowds
If you could manually detonate cigarettes agent would be like 30 times better.
Agent is ok for bosses on Professional since they immediately retaliate if you hit the Heavy attack at any point in time and the Rush strings are fast and dont seem to ever really end
Speaking of, fuck the bosses in this game, gadgets dont work on them and they have Hyperarmor the whole fight while immediately starting a attack when you hit Heavy >no skill upgrade to cancel attacks with dodge >no increased hitstun for hitting bosses in the back
aaaaaaaaaa
Cigarettes would also work a lot better if they exploded when you hit an enemy. A lot of cutscenes and the pre-release trailer show the instant detonation, so I wonder if it was toned down.
Firefly does have the ability to detonate on contact but only if you use them in extreme heat. The downside is that it locks you into a animation before throwing so most of the time you get mogged during the animation lock and lose all your heat.
I like the idea of being able to set traps since instant crowd control can be accomplished with Spider or Serpent, and the explosions can be genuinely useful for enemies that like to block a lot and are too strong for Spider, but the timer means your only strategy is to sloooowly and unreliably throw a few on the ground and home your enemies bumble into the blast radius.
I liked using it early on when enemies didn't block often since the basic rush combo is faster than Dragon style and can be looped almost infinitely, meaning that enemies didn't get much of a chance to react. It's pretty bad in actual boss fights though and there's no reason to use it there except for the Kiwami gadget heat action and rush combo.
the heat rush mode in agent is great, when I dodged at good times, with full upgraded heat, managed to defeat 2 phases of the final boss with it with one full charge with still some left over I think
hard to do though
>can finally use guns again since you're not playing as pussy ass Yagami >the heat action to steal guns still just removes the gun from play instead of giving it to you
I'm trying to do the Four Kings sidequest and just hit a massive roadblock when I got to the robot guy, I can usually get it down to the last three guys but then I just run out of time before I can kill them all. Is the solution really just to grind a bunch and have a maxed out team?
Just grind a lot, and make sure you have at least one healer on the team. What worked for me was getting everyone to level 20, then spamming heat at the higher HP enemies until there was less to deal with. Afterwards, remaining heat and attack buffs were focused on dealing with Mr Roboto first since he has an instadeath beam, then the enemies, then the other bosses. P.S this is the most difficult fight with the kings, last guy is a major pushover.
I'd say just grinding gold or plat. Aiming for S ranks as a sidequests kinda made the process more bareable for me. I dont think the XP scrolls do much after you level up the soldier to 15 or 16, dimminishing returns.
I ended up getting my ass blasted by that guy, so I just set my team to fight Platinum Festival 4 until they get to level 20 and then I'll try him again. My team easily gets consistent A rank so it's about 2.5 million and decent enough XP while I focus on something else
Keita is a fucking beast. He may have a simple moveset but it just fucking works. I was taking a bunch of my guys through some of the solo tournaments and mob fights and he was just wrecking things.
I've been mainly brute forcing my way through the last two platinum team matches to level people and get cash. Having two healers with regen (dude with the knife and the cat rapper) seems to be enough to get the majority of my guys over the finish line with me actively playing.
>That ending
Fuck dude. That hit a lot harder than I expected.
His strength is decently high, and his special is extremely good with having a gun in a wide range. No enemy in the game can block bullets, so he just shits out damage.
The robot guy is a huge pain. He was able to one-shot two of my lower health guys at the start with his laser when they were level 18/19. It seems like you really need the best people at max rank to beat him and even then the timer is tight.
Justice is a fucking killer, that fight would be a lot more manageable if not for the constant full team heals he can do. I finally managed it even with an underleveled team by focusing down Justice as fast as humanly possible, then the other two bosses while my team kills small fry.
You should always try to focus the leader. If your team is levelled enough and you keep it balanced, they will handle the mobs just fine. Keep track of the overall health bar on the right of the HUD rather than each individual one. Even easier if you have the preorder characters, Daigo is the best healer and Majima has deceptively higher damage with bleeding and having uninterrupted attacks.
if you want to complete the activity log, you can easily finish it super quick once you get all the high roller tables. So using a cheat item on a lower table is not a good use of it. and I dont' think you can get unlimited cheat items in this game, so there are only like 2 of each from what Ive seen so far. maybe only one of each for a few of them.
I've found I think three cheat items from briefcases around Sotenbori. A royal card, a 10-10-1 token, and yes a mahjong tile.
Obviously the drop rates are going to be too low to rely on, but you should be picking them up as much as possible.
Like the other anon said, don't spend your cheat items until you've unlocked the high roller floors. Depending on how later on you are, some Akame requests can give up 500k - 1 million yen per completion, and they're relatively simple too. Otherwise the Arena isn't too difficult to complete (Gold/Platinum just need 10/20 Akame levels and 3 completions of the previous tier, respectively). If you unlock No Reservations as an upgrade, you can go around town and drink and eat at every joint for a huge amount of points.
the ending fucked me up more then all the other games
kiryu's suffers until his death because the writers were to cowardly to end his story with yakuza 3
The ending also hits hard because even if Kiryu does get his name back in Infinite Wealth and can return to Okinawa the simple fact is that all his kids are adults, and he didn't get the chance to see them grow into adults.
sorry bro
he needs to get shot, stabbed, and beaten within an inch of his life, before getting cancer, only after his body withers away from cancer treatments can he die a hospital bed surrounded by strangers, only for Haruka to walk into the room with Haruto mere minutes after he passed away
it just good story writing nothing personal
the infinite in infinite wealth stands for infinite suffering
Really shows that Kiryu could easily carry another couple games if they chose to keep him around. I love the fact that I can play dress up but I don't like the fact that there aren't any white or cream colored suits. The 3 piece is nice though. I'm already at 40 hours and on chapter 4, I'm gonna be doing the entire activity log but I wish they would have matched the achievements to it better instead of making it super easy. and it needs a NG+
yeah I'm playing on Professional as well and it was a good choice. but some of these arena fights are pretty vicious with their hit damage. Especially the guy in all black. Forget his name, but I can't tiger drop him and he just slices me up even if I dodge around him.
>I'm gonna be doing the entire activity log
Don't forget to give akame gifts as much as possible. It was my last one at 7/10 and she just doesn't want any more cigs.
I'm on 9/10 rn, when I saw they used the Judgment/LJ system for carrying items, I went around and bought everything from all the shops. I didn't even realize it was an achievement / activity log item until I recently looked up the remaining ones I hadn't gotten. That's gonna be sour for someone who wasn't doing that at the beginning of the game.
It's not surprising. Not counting Ishin since it wasn't a mainline game, this is the first entry in the series to have a day one release on PC worldwide.
I intentionally left out 7 because that was still before worldwide launches. There has to be at least a few hundred nips contributing to Gaiden's big PC launch, especially since these games are quite Steam Deck friendly.
are these Akame point discount and boosts worth it? Is the enemy drop one worth it? I just realized they only really seem to drop money and I wasted two tiers into it already.
>are these Akame point discount and boosts worth it?
Yes, because they cost money instead of Akame points, it'll always be worth it even if the boosts were small. >Is the enemy drop one worth it?
Not really, but you'll probably make the money back pretty quickly
A dead man should also try not to look like the guy who died three years ago instead of wearing shades and pretending it makes for a good disguise and then getting upset when everyone with an IQ higher than 50 recognizes him as the dead man
I found it so fucking funny how they made a big deal about Kiryu faking his death and assuming a new identify only for practically every single plot-important character to instantly recognise him as Kiryu
I found it so fucking funny how they made a big deal about Kiryu faking his death and assuming a new identify only for practically every single plot-important character to instantly recognise him as Kiryu
he already has a new haircut in 8, I wonder why don't they use it here
I imagine it's because he had his usual haircut in 7 (likely so newcomers would have a better chance at recognising him), and it would be strange for him to have a different haircut only to switch back to his normal one just for the dissolution announcement
>>That's because plot would demand it >Kiryu shows up at the final meeting of the Tojo and Omi clans >Absolutely nobody outside of Kiryu's little buddies recognizes him, especially the dudes from the Tojo clan who SURELY must know about fourth chairman Kiryu Kazuma who resigned an hour into his tenure and had his face practically stapled across Kamurocho
sometimes Yakuza makes me want to drink until my brain cells cry for mercy
the tojo clan has been "mostly dead" since the end of yakuza 2. every single time they start rebuilding, ALL of their officers get wiped out and ALL of their men get the shit kicked into next week out of them by kiryu.

i can respect the hustle. i'd have done the same thing in his position but instead of a katana i'd battle kiryu with my cock. his rising dragon is no match for my oni's club.
>want to use this strong as fuck dude that's an absolute legend in the underworld >send him on a bodyguard job >then send him waiting around for money to be dropped off >after that gets fucked up, send him to Sotenbori, a place that he's been to several times, talked to a ton of people there, and has a high chance of someone recognizing him (the fucking old ass lady recognizes him)
i don't think the secret govt faction is that bright honestly
The entire Yakuza series conflicts are just a bunch of retards without common sense trying to fuck over retards that can punch tigers out of mid air. Every SINGLE yakuza game story happens because of retarded decisions that should have never been made
>Yakuza 1 never would have happened if Kyriu just let Nishiki take the fall, which would have caused his reputation to skyrocket >Yakuza 2 never would have happened if Kazama just did his job and killed the Koreans, instead of feeling bad >Yakuza 3 never would have happened if Mine didnt have a mental breakdown over Daigo being in a coma >Yakuza 4 never would have happened if Mine didnt throw himself off the roof >Yakuza 5 never would have happened if the Dying Omi patriach didnt piss and shit himself over not being able to secure a legacy >Yakuza 6 never wouldnt have happened if Haruka didnt tank her idol reputation on live TV
1 never would have happened if Kyriu just let Nishiki take the fall, which would have caused his reputation to skyrocket
I remember when I played original, I thought Nishiki just had chance unlike Kiryu, but after 0 and K1 it made totally no sense.
5 never would have happened if the Dying Omi patriach didnt piss and shit himself over not being able to secure a legacy
I wouldn't lump this one together with rest.
>Kiryu is known to constantly being able to take on large groups of dudes by himself, often surrounded and outgunned >get shocked when you and your dudes get your asses kicked by him
it's funny when even Shishidou was shocked that he lost when he's SEEN Kiryu fuck up multiple groups by himself multiple times
Shishidou had already lost like multiple times against Kiryu by the time of the finale Dude still thinks that he can win because surely this time will be different Shishidou kind of earned his fate into being Nishitani's toy while they're locked up by Daidoji.
fat American because I love big tiddies and paunch, and the other one has Alien Teeth. Crooked teeth are more attractive to me than weirdly long alien teeth.
The casino on the boat makes much more sense than under a river (as where I live, there are wrecks of Al Capone's floating casinos around) but the enslaved debtors were a little wacky still
You just KNOW that he'll be surrounded by the orphan kids, or at the very least he'll get to have his goodbye with Haruka. If they rob us of him and his daughter having one last moment I'll riot.
Riichi was called since they were just one tile away from having a full hand. No-Points Hand means that they didn't have any triplets/quads in their hand and only had sequences (e.g. 3-4-5 of the characters, the black squiggly lines).
i get some of the basic hands and rules
i just don't know how to win
it either goes into a draw or i just end up dealing into some shit eventually and i don't know what i could've done
For starting off, just aim for getting a bunch of triples in hand and then a double. Just ignore calling Pon/Chi for now until you get a handle on the game (though there can only be 4 of a tile on board at one time, I generally just call when I see the 4th tile dropped and I have no way of getting a sequence) and always call Tsumo/Ron (the game forces you to call Tsumo but not Ron all the time surprisingly enough). You'll start to pick up a few things as you play.
You will also need to learn if the those hands allow open or strictly closed only (no calling for tile on others). Best han to stick as a beginner is tanyao ( have your hand consist only 2-8 on numbered set, no winds or dragons), triplet of the round/your seat wind, a triplet of dragon tile, or riichi (build your hand without calling anything and be one tile away to win).
you can get by in yakuza just keeping your hand closed and calling riichi every time hoping for the best score-wise. Fill your hand with triplets and sequences and don't pon/chi.
I wish they weren't so easy. All of them lose 80% health to a single extreme heat move.
Also wish all 6 of those bosses had a special event where it was just them like majima/saejima/daigo.
>Kijin clan >Watase family >??? >Omi alliance >Ryudo family >Kazama family >Shimano family >Tojo clan >Ishioda family >Arakawa family >Sakaki family >Dojima family >????
what are those two that I don't know?
Also, no Saejima, Majima, or Nishiki crests but they put in a literal who crest like Sasaki.
wtf.
why would they put an obscure family crest like that as an option? If they want hexagon family crest, Someya, shibusawa, and Kuze's family crests are also hexagon.
Just wait for the game to come out and see what people say about it. You can also try out the demo if you beat Gaiden, and you can rush through it on Gamepass pretty easily. You don't lose much from pre-ordering, since the extra jobs are generally just filler and not amazing given what the first game had.
Based on the special demo, there's no chance I'm buying 8 at a $70 price tag. I will happily wait for either a cracked/gog version or an 80% discount in three years.
Enemy damage scales hard in later fights. You'll get to a point where your lower level guys will get 30-40% of their HP knocked off in one move, so you'll need to grind them a bit. Platinum 5+ is when you'll generally be feeling the pain if you've been working through, so level up a bit on Platinum 4 until you feel like you're strong enough. Additionally, invest in Kiryu's attacks so you can get problematic enemies out of the way first. You'll be getting roughly 2-2.8 million yen per completion, and healing downed allies is easy since you can just walk up to each one that got downed (as shown by purple mist around their head) to encourage them and fix them up. You can also buy some expensive alcohol at the bar if you don't want to walk around to everyone.
I tried playing one of the Yakuza games and it was just a never-ending series of cutscenes with occasional short gameplay parts. It felt like a 3d VN, except no girls. Am I missing something? inb4 the point
Yakuza is a manly soap opera about buff dudes that tear their clothes off to have honorable fist fights with each other on top of skyscrapers. And also there's fun minigames and side quests. If you don't get it, you don't get it.
maybe you played the longer ones like 7 and 0? those are really slow in the beginning, but be it main quest or the side ones, there is going to be a lot of reading
I'm honestly impressed how they managed to tie basically every previous game's story into this one directly or thematically without it feeling tacky or shoehorned.
I clapped at Nishitani being revealed as a secret korean jingweon. It's so absurd and outta nowhere and doesn't come back at all, but its such a Yakuza 2 refrence that I couldn't help but be very amused.
My guess is Daidoji will keep him and Shishido on a short lease until the VTuber in Infinite Wealth leaks that Kiryu is alive. From there, the confidentiality of their agreement has been broken, and Daidoji will be going after the VTuber and Kiryu, to which the latter will be chased by Nishitani and Shishido. I wonder how much they're going to be restrained.
Yeah, and the other guy. Don't think they'll play a major role, though. Maybe as side bosses or something, at best. The guy being named Nishitani the 3rd also struck me as entirely off.
Yeah, Yakuza 0 and all that, but it's tied to such a memorable character that it feels like a cheap immitation. Especially since Kiryu never interacted with em, so any refrence is blown past.
Maybe I got worked by Yokoyama's 4D chess, or maybe they're just saving him to square off with Majima. Who knows.
I prefer when they reuse old families like that even if it doesn't mean much, there was always something funny about how they would constantly introduce new families only for them to be swiftly forgotten by the next game
>Majima bases his Mad Dog persona on the real Nishitani >Nishitani III, already stealing the name of some other guy, basically becomes a knockoff Mad Dog Majima by the end (but genuinely psycho)
>Nishitani being revealed as a secret korean jingweon
I just assume everyone that Kiryu meets and their grand mothers are all jingweon
Haruka and Haruto are also jingweon
I'm almost surprised Kiryu himself isn't, like we know Kazama killed a lot of koreans and we know he killed Kiryu's parents, so put two and two together
>tfw you realise the Daidoji have actually just been kidnapping all the past villains of the previous games after Kiryu beats them and now RGG has the perfect excuse to bring literally anyone they want back
Well, we know Nishiki blew up in the Milennium Tower so he's probably dead, Ryuji also blew up and has imitators so he's also probably dead, Mine is probably still alive because he jumped off the roof with Andre and Andre is alive, Munakata shot himself in the head so he's dead, Aizawa was left in the snow at the Tojo Clan HQ so he has a very good chance of coming back, and little baby Iwami was left for dead at the harbor but he has a good chance of coming back. So that leaves us 2/6, possibly 3/6, which isn't too bad.
>Ryuji
I kinda liked how they handled all that in this game. Kiryu still clearly wishes the guy was still around, but accepts that the best thing he can do at this point is keep his legacy clean. Ties in with the game's themes of letting go of the past and moving on. that said it would work BETTER if this series wasn't constantly bringing back every other dead guy
I'm not surprised that he's korean, I was surprised they pulled another secret jingweon. I respect the sheer gaul considering Yakuza 2's story is that basically everyone was a korean
No, that's just the shape that the majority of winning hands are.
It's hard to explain in a few words but you'd need to look up a list/tutorial of the yaku and what they are exactly.
To put it simply, your hand doesn't have riichi/tsumo because you opened your hand by calling pon on the 6sou and 9sou. You also don't have tanyao because of the 9sou and 1pin. Naturally, you don't have any of the more complex yaku either and thus you can't declare a win.
A basic yaku to go for is all simples, with a closed hand. Don't have any terminals, or honors, and you get a cheap, quick win. Alternatively, get an easy yaku, like your seat or round wind, or three of one type of dragon.
I don't usually go for anything complex. Sometimes, I try for iipeikou, or sanshoku, but it doesn't work out for me most of the time. It's easier to get a pinfu tanyao, and shitheaps of dora.
Use the https://riichi.wiki/Yaku until you get comfortable with mahjong on your own.
He shares the same VA and the ending shows Hanawa knows about Taichi Suzuki and that he's personally met Kiryu before, which means there's only a handful of people that knew him under his alias and Morinaga/Hanawa is one of them.
Full on Japanese, born in Chiba. She's an idol that started her career in 2013 (which is funny considering that Akame wanted to become an idol before turning to information gathering).
Full on Japanese, born in Chiba. She's an idol that started her career in 2013 (which is funny considering that Akame wanted to become an idol before turning to information gathering).
It makes sense that she was an idol coz she actually sounds very nice in Karaoke.
Maybe in 8/Gaiden 2? I imagine they have some kind of plans for her, they introduce her with some kind of major unspecified medical problem and then she's never seen again.
They really fucked Yakuza style in Gaiden, 6 was so much more technical and less unga than "his fighting style perfected" or whatever they called this one. You took away heat actions, reguard, parry, triple dashes, bounding throw/finishing hold, dropkicks, and who knows what else. All they had to do was give his 6 version triple finishers, juggle for people who like that, and the ability to hit people with motorcycles more than once and it really would be worthy of being called his yakuza style perfected.
yeah this game sucks and is sloppy as shit. >inb4 kiryu is supposed to be sluggish cause he has cancer
nevermind the fact that his agent style has him moving faster and nimbler than ever
why have people recently been making shit up to make 6 look good
yeah this game sucks and is sloppy as shit. >inb4 kiryu is supposed to be sluggish cause he has cancer
nevermind the fact that his agent style has him moving faster and nimbler than ever
He feels more sluggish at times, now he can get hit with Judgment deadly attacks and is stunned for far longer. As far as combat 6 was more technical, you can't prove that wrong bitch.
Yeah I know you didn't play the game now. You just watched them or mashed through them. >triple dodge is replaced with single dodge+slow roll >can't escape the hangman anymore by mashing e >mashing out of stun is slower >Kiryu writhes in pain for 10 seconds after getting hit with a Judgment attack
how is 6 ""technical""
You have more options like parry, charge kick is good. You can wall splat people. You have more heat actions, especially in extreme heat. You can dash cancel out of most shit if it misses to make it safe. Maybe having too many option is a bad thing and taking shit away like they did in Gaiden is a good thing like you're saying.
this game was made for nu-rgg cucks who just spam square and triangle and cant press more than 3 buttons in quick succession. the game doesnt even have a legendary difficulty
Is it good? For someone who basically played all yakuza games except isshin.
Loved them all except Y3 (Y4 and Y5 were great gameplay wise but retarded story wise, Y6 had shit gameplay but nice QOL and the story was well paced even if some characters like Haruka and Kiryu were badly written).
The judgment games were my favorites though.
Yagami is a lot more agile than Kiryu, but Kiryu is more agile in this title. If you're not super invested in the series, just get Game Pass and play it there. I had my fun with it, but I could definitely see people getting turned away from the $50 price tag.
Judgment is completely independent from Yakuza aside from a cameo from Zhao in Lost Judgment. The only thing this game has are characters from Judgment that show up in one side quest and in the arena.
holy shit fuck these one-shot challenges
have to make the most absolute MINUIT adjustments to make sure you hit one ball so it hits the ball you have to hit in the pocket
It could be worse, you could be me and have done the challenges before the akame request and have to clear them a second time for the fag sitting nearby.
The fuck? I wish I knew that.
The game really punishes you for doing side content early. All the pool challenges, bingo golf and karaoke challenges are not retroactive.
Get to max heat, close the distance using Serpent in Agent Style, and then pop Extreme Heat to clear out mobs. Once it gets down to 2-3 guys, your team generally shreds their HP bar. Also have fully maxed out attack and some attack accessories. If you beat the secret boss, you also get a very strong accessory that's pretty much an auto win button.
The first step is to overlevel as much as possible. In particular, max out the heat gauge and then attack.
In tournaments with single opponents, just go into heat mode with yakuza style and heat action them and they fall over dead.
In events with multiple goons, use agents heat mode for huge aoe damage rush combos. You can then finish off the remaining large foe with a yakuza style heat move if you have juice remaining.
With the Joryu-clan matches, just level them to 20 and it's easy. Just spam anything and you should win.
Abuse heat moves to destroy the smaller guys' health to a reasonable amount. Preferably have your gauge full before you enter for this, afterwards pop the order for extra damage and start spamming finishing moves on the smaller guys. For the fights with big guys, same applies but use order buffs on them instead while your crew focuses on the smaller ones.
Also, make sure the clan is either all silver and gold. Bronze is shit at higher levels, especially with damage output. Overall, you want a majority of them to be attackers, maybe 2 defenders and 1 medic.
Don't fucking misunderstand me, I still prefer Kiwami 1 combat. It's just a simple fact that they nerfed Kiryu in Gaiden and made him more accessible to mashers, he was more powerful in 6 if you knew how to use him.
>playing on higher difficulty doesn't even do anything but make enemies damage sponges
It increases their damage output and it also causes enemies to be way more active during random encounters leading to enemies within about a second of you hitting someone, grabbing them, or them whiffing an attack to start an attack when another one has stopped. This is extremely apparent in the Dragon Engine where everyone isn't tied to a queue system for attacking you anymore and will constantly be kicking stuff at you or going for attacks as you've grabbed someone/are attacking someone. It's either 6 or LJ where there's a great example of fat guys throwing people and bikes at you from the background while other guys are grabbing bikes and you're still there fighting like two guys right next to you.
You don't even need to do that. Literally just run to his side, he has Arase's moveset and will constantly try the standing still double shot spam which cements him in place. If he's not doing that then he will do the gunkata spin shot moveset from Arase which you can just dodge behind his back and get a free combo.
So Kiryu knows 5 styles (technically 4 but I'm separating Brawler and DoD style unlike Infinite Wealth) in Brawler, Rush, Beast, Agent, and DoD, Yagami knows 4 styles in Crane, Tiger, Snake, and Boxing, and Kaito knows 2 in Bruiser and Tank. Hopefully Kaito gets more in the future.
The Yakuza 5 experience is the same for all people >Kiryu's part is kino >Saejima's part is fine but kind of annoying to get through >The game screeches to a halt at Haruka and Akiyama's section and becomes a slog >Get to Shinada and it's fun again >the game is over
The worst part for me was that I enjoyed the Shinada part the most, but it had fuck all to do with the rest of the game and then he just randomly shows up at the end for a fight.
I may have spent too much time at Kiryu's part because the slog hit me when I went to Saejima's part. >A whole hour of cutscenes broken up by walking sections every 10 minutes or so to see if you're still alive
Shinada was still pretty fun to play though and he has a really catchy battle theme
Kiryu's chapter was great. He felt so burned out and emotionally vulnerable. He finally stops to think and realize what's important to him and then goes to jail becasue fuck it all.
I liked Haruka and Akiyama chapter more than Saejima's.
Shinada had great story, but fuck his fighting style.
Game should've ended on top of Kamurocho Hills.
i love 3 and 5
my only issue with 5 is they spent too much time on haruka's dancing shit and it cunt into akiyama's chapter
other than that 5 is my favorite but that's probably due to bias from having to wait so long for it to be localized and it's probably the import i played the most
Everything in this fucking game is designed to pad out the playtime as long as possible >Multiple side contents are inserted into the main story >Need cash to buy skills, but story fights including bosses don't drop money. Can't have our player progressing by playing the story alone! >Need Akame points to buy mid to high level skill, can't upgrade your character if you only do the main content.
Bet you didn't know this, but you can beat the game without buying a single upgrade.
At worst, you have to skip through 1 hostess session and watch a cutscene about pocket circuit.
I am losing. I understand why they let you figure out the games by yourself but the learning curve in the beginning is steep. >here are the buttons that play the game >but we won't tell you how to actually play it >go
I am getting better at this and baseball, pool, bowling and darts are fairly more straight forward. Golf, I can't figure out the wind indicator yet.
But they do tell you how to play table tennis/air hockey. You have to stare at the girl's tits as much as possible to build Heat while smacking the ping pong ball back and forth. You use Heat to throw the girl off and catch balls you would most likely miss. The thing is that you're not really "playing" table tennis/air hockey because each character has a certain threshold you have to hit of hits before they actually miss one and this becomes really apparent the higher difficulty you are. You aren't really trying to get the ball past the girl as much as you accumulating a hit tally until the game just decides to make her AI shut off.
I will try more. I felt on normal that it's not so much about keep doing successful shots. I feel that there is a race against time in the end to score as quickly as possible with the boobs and X holding time according to her vocal cues.
And the directional input is very unreliable, maybe you don't need it at all.
It's been a while since I played 4, DS, or 5 so I don't 100% remember the strategy I was using but imagine the girl has an invisible HP bar. Every time you use a Heat strike it's like -5 of her HP whereas using the regular hit it's -1. Every time you hit the ball at all stare at her tits. The instant you see her hit it (Or slightly before if you're not confident enough) stop zooming in and time it right before continuing to stare. On Hard it's up to you what you want to do because conserving and using Heat are both viable tactics. >And the directional input is very unreliable, maybe you don't need it at all.
Pretty sure they're necessary in addition to the timing.
Air hockey is far more lenient because the AI can't react to you slamming the puck the other direction a lot.
When it comes to golf, if you're doing outdoor golf it's sort of just adding or subtracting whatever power you have hit the ball at. I can't remember if 4 or 5 was the one that let you use each character for it but only use Kiryu. Akiyama and Saejima have different stats for their hits whereas Kiryu's is neutral. Unless you want to make it harder for yourself play as Kiryu. Putting is honestly the hardest part and that's simply because of elevation being a pain to gauge at all even if you know how the minigame works.
Indoor golf the wind is handled differently but it's much easier to pick up on how you adjust to it, and in most games the wind is typically preset so you can learn the hits.
Does Judgement have that many tailing missions?
Beat Gaiden on Game Pass and I'm thinking about it. It's the only game in the series I own on Steam that I haven't beat. Played it immediately after 6 and 7, did the opening tailing mission and I just wasn't feeling it. Yagami also felt like a real wet blanket coming off of Ichiban.
>Does Judgement have that many tailing missions?
About 1/3rd to half of the substories have one. The main story has I want to say three? Four? Everything but the one in the final chapter are maybe two or three minutes long but the last one literally makes you go in circles for about six or seven minutes and then they repeat that exact same route in The Kaito Files in LJ for some unholy reason.
LJ has one across the entire story with one or two in the substories and three stealth missions. The Kaito Files has one more tailing mission which is the one I mentioned.
I got a golden ball from a buff dude on a boat in the river early in the game.
Now I need to take a picture of him for a mission but idk how to spawn him? Is it just random or?
Saw something that they're getting even better at asset re-use than they were before.
Like it used to be they'd have to program a new Mahjong minigame every time they made a new game but now they can just sort of copy paste it. So development for some stuff in Gaiden happened at the same time as stuff for 8.
worst part about playing a yakuza game is i get so distracted and never can just focus on one thing until completion, be it some mini-game or combat and so on
>showed up for the hostess audition cause her agent didn't tell her about the part she had been cast for >didn't advance
Fucking hilarious. Glad she got this part, she would've been wasted in hostess stuff.
Is this the best street encounters in the series? They start so fast, the groups are big and they give a lot oof cash too.
I actually seek them out instead of avoiding them now lol
Don't cause you'll probably blow your own brains out seeing how much better Y6, an almost 10 yr old game, looks
[...]
Yeah on planet blind homosexual retard where you reside
As someone who just played Y6 about a month ago at 4K120, it is definitely one of the prettiest Dragon Engine games but the horrible aliasing holds it back.
Gaiden, Lost Judgment and Yakuza 6 are the best looking RGG games but I'm giving the edge to Gaiden as DLSS is better than the regular dogshit AA they use and the new lighting can look quite stunning at times.

Dragon Engine anti-aliasing is so bad that DLSS is a visual improvement to the image quality.
Y6 has supersampling to get rid of jaggies
It's literally impossible to get rid of Y6 jaggies. Even at 4k they are extremely noticeable.
Spoilers for final final final optional boss fight was the amon storyline just a reference to Yakuza 1
Why the fuck did both Amon and Joryu play it so completely straight
I expected Joryu to say SOMETHING referencing Amon
>1 consistently good part >2 good parts if you don't count Shinada's combat >Akiyama's heat actions take forever >Akiyama's gimmick makes his combat less fun
Other than "that" story plot, 4 was better 5 tbh
Better villains
Better finale chapter and fights
Better playable characters
Better Haruka
Better story, god the idol concert plot was dumb
what's the reasoning behind having cosmetics specific to general gameplay and then cosmetics specific to coliseum
i want to look like a clown in coliseum not when i'm doing sub-stories and main story
The AI is always stacked in poker, blackjack, chou-hand, and oicho-kabu. The only one where they're not is koi-koi and you can very easily understand that the AI always wants to go for high value cards and assumes anything you place without taking a card is high value.
Whenever you play poker just save, raise like three or four times, call, and then raise to the end. You really shouldn't try to play it seriously, just bluff. The only people who don't fold before the river either have a pair or face cards, and the only people who don't fold after the river have a pair bare minimum.
Good for them in the end. I don't think it the end it will worth it.
Imagine the feel when you exit the place after a visit paying all this money for small talk..
We dont know if they will actually serve and since there is no way to blackmail them i wouldnt be surprised they kill the top Daidoji guys in 8 leading to Kiryu being free.
>we have to disband the yakuza because the government has a noose around our necks >no you can't do that >loses and becomes government slave
A dead man should also try not to look like the guy who died three years ago instead of wearing shades and pretending it makes for a good disguise and then getting upset when everyone with an IQ higher than 50 recognizes him as the dead man
funny that they do make him mask up for the Coliseum
Shishidou probably would have preferred it because that Daidoji agent really made it sound like they were planning on chucking him in the same cell as Nishitani III pretty much putting Shishidou back into the same spot he was during his Colosseum days.
Finished the game last night, what's the general consensus here? I thought it was good but not great, a lot of the pacing and mandatory side content really started to piss me off.
Also, am I correct in remembering that there were only 2 boss qtes in the whole story, one in the fight at the warehouse on the docks and the other in the final boss?
Dragon Engine needs proper ray traced Global Illumination holy shit. That model isn't even that awful but that extremely unnatural lighting butchers the appearance completely.
>get 90 or over 90 on this song! >song goes on for like four minutes
please let this hell end. i've been playing muted because the music distracts from pressing the buttons.
>enemies keep blocking everything in the middle of a combo >that's alright, i have this handy grab button >grabbing only works on lean mooks, does not work on anyone heavier or more important >better to just do triple combo finishers on every enemy because superarmor charged attacks are a thing and the first one will break their guard
oh fucking sweet i'm glad to see that yakuza 3 is back
lol at the end card. they fucked up hard. its "to be continued", but it translated in one word as
WEITER which means "continue" or "goes on". i fucking laughed
then in the 8 demo, they fucking love random letters someones just fucking tapped around on a keyboard
Some people were theorizing that, since either the model wasn't finalized or trailer compression made his hair look like a shitty kpop style that would be used as a joke. In-game it just looks like his hair is down and greying rather than something silly.
>beat gold samurai a third time >doesn't join your hell team
shit sucks. also how tf do i make good use of the drones? seems like they're better off used for defense
Already beat the game. Shit was good and I can't fucking wait for Y8
I think selling this as a stand alone game was a good idea. As a DLC people might've passed on it but it's a legit entry and has the quality to match.
I can't believe they'll force players to use JRPG combat again when they gave us this kino

I read the Judgment guy did most of the writing. I thought that was why it felt so solid, SAWA-SENSEI bitching aside.
Things feel way better and more sure in its RPG direction rather than half baking it
Agent is for taking down mooks, just spam spider and serpent and you can take down crowds way faster than anything you can do in dragon
>walk into crowds with charged Rush combo
>enjoy Y0 Beast destruction
agent honestly sucks cock outside of looking flashy and spamming Kiwami Rush in crowds
Towards the end of the game I played with yakuza style 90% of the time.
It's much for fun and versatile.
Agent is ok for bosses on Professional since they immediately retaliate if you hit the Heavy attack at any point in time and the Rush strings are fast and dont seem to ever really end
Speaking of, fuck the bosses in this game, gadgets dont work on them and they have Hyperarmor the whole fight while immediately starting a attack when you hit Heavy
>no skill upgrade to cancel attacks with dodge
>no increased hitstun for hitting bosses in the back
aaaaaaaaaa
If you could manually detonate cigarettes agent would be like 30 times better.
Agent is amazing in hell rumble
I never use attacks only spam rocket shoes into crowds for knockdown and huge aoe damage
>I had my doubts with Yokoyama's potential as a writer
Yokoyama has always been the main writer, since the very first game, he's not exactly new
the heat rush mode in agent is great, when I dodged at good times, with full upgraded heat, managed to defeat 2 phases of the final boss with it with one full charge with still some left over I think
hard to do though
The counter hit you can do after agent's heat dodge is so good. I used it to melt Amon's phase 1 health bar.
>can finally use guns again since you're not playing as pussy ass Yagami
>the heat action to steal guns still just removes the gun from play instead of giving it to you
I'm trying to do the Four Kings sidequest and just hit a massive roadblock when I got to the robot guy, I can usually get it down to the last three guys but then I just run out of time before I can kill them all.
Is the best way to grind doing platinum matches or grinding money and buying the exp potions?
He's the hardest fight in the game imo.

If I need some cash but I'm not rolling in Akane points, should I buy a blackjack amulet or a 10-10-1 charm?
You should get both but 10-10-1 is easier to use.
Don't use gambling cheats unless you've unlocked the high roller areas on the boat. You'll regret it.
oh, good warning actually. That's a really solid ass point.
isn't it fine to use it before then? Later on the big money comes from the coliseum.
If you're going for the completion list, why not save them for less time spent gambling to reach the criteria?
explain?
if you want to complete the activity log, you can easily finish it super quick once you get all the high roller tables.
I just keep pounding faces in the coliseum if i'm low on cash.
>Are YOU winning?
I guess? Late to the Judgement party but I'm enjoying it so far. Finished doing all the batting cage courses.
there is no late to the Judgement party. It, the sequel, the DLC, and now the game awaiting you after it are all kinos.
Am I just hearing things, or is the darts announcer Takenobu Mitsuyoshi?
Got a clip? Or link to a youtube vid with said announcer? I want to hear it.
>Finally get a Yakuza fighting game

gyat damn
the ending fucked me up more then all the other games
kiryu's suffers until his death because the writers were to cowardly to end his story with yakuza 3
The ending also hits hard because even if Kiryu does get his name back in Infinite Wealth and can return to Okinawa the simple fact is that all his kids are adults, and he didn't get the chance to see them grow into adults.
Just kill kiryu at this point. It'll be a mercy.
sorry bro
he needs to get shot, stabbed, and beaten within an inch of his life, before getting cancer, only after his body withers away from cancer treatments can he die a hospital bed surrounded by strangers, only for Haruka to walk into the room with Haruto mere minutes after he passed away
it just good story writing nothing personal
the infinite in infinite wealth stands for infinite suffering
I am the man who had a lot of fun.
No NG+? I'm also assuming there's no legend since professional is already pretty damn tough if you're not abusing health items.
yeah I'm playing on Professional as well and it was a good choice. but some of these arena fights are pretty vicious with their hit damage.

Shill working overtime, did the dogshit game flop that badly?
the fact that this has the highest concurrent peak of ALL Yakuza games on Steam must've mindbroke this retard, lmao
It's not surprising. Not counting Ishin since it wasn't a mainline game, this is the first entry in the series to have a day one release on PC worldwide.
7 did, in the west at least, but that's where I imagine most pc players are
I intentionally left out 7 because that was still before worldwide launches.
>Is the enemy drop
but enemies dont drope akame points...
>are these Akame point discount and boosts worth it?
Yes, because they cost money instead of Akame points, it'll always be worth it even if the boosts were small.
>Is the enemy drop one worth it?
Not really, but you'll probably make the money back pretty quickly
They're so cheap you might as well buy them.
Joryu should've had gloves by default. A dead man shouldn't be leaving fingerprints all over the place.
A dead man should also try not to look like the guy who died three years ago instead of wearing shades and pretending it makes for a good disguise and then getting upset when everyone with an IQ higher than 50 recognizes him as the dead man
I found it so fucking funny how they made a big deal about Kiryu faking his death and assuming a new identify only for practically every single plot-important character to instantly recognise him as Kiryu
he already has a new haircut in 8, I wonder why don't they use it here
I imagine it's because he had his usual haircut in 7 (likely so newcomers would have a better chance at recognising him), and it would be strange for him to have a different haircut only to switch back to his normal one just for the dissolution announcement
You don't get it. People that recognized him, would still recognize him even if he got serious face surgery. That's because plot would demand it
>>That's because plot would demand it
>Kiryu shows up at the final meeting of the Tojo and Omi clans
>Absolutely nobody outside of Kiryu's little buddies recognizes him, especially the dudes from the Tojo clan who SURELY must know about fourth chairman Kiryu Kazuma who resigned an hour into his tenure and had his face practically stapled across Kamurocho
sometimes Yakuza makes me want to drink until my brain cells cry for mercy
the Tojo's mostly dead at that point isn't it
the tojo clan has been "mostly dead" since the end of yakuza 2. every single time they start rebuilding, ALL of their officers get wiped out and ALL of their men get the shit kicked into next week out of them by kiryu.
Man, Shindo really put Tojo on a death spiral just because he wanted to fuck a hag
More like Nishiki put it on a death spiral because he was seething for over 20 years and everyone he hired continued to run it to the ground for years.
i can respect the hustle. i'd have done the same thing in his position but instead of a katana i'd battle kiryu with my cock. his rising dragon is no match for my oni's club.

The entire Yakuza series conflicts are just a bunch of retards without common sense trying to fuck over retards that can punch tigers out of mid air. Every SINGLE yakuza game story happens because of retarded decisions that should have never been made
>Yakuza 1 never would have happened if Kyriu just let Nishiki take the fall, which would have caused his reputation to skyrocket
>Yakuza 2 never would have happened if Kazama just did his job and killed the Koreans, instead of feeling bad
>Yakuza 3 never would have happened if Mine didnt have a mental breakdown over Daigo being in a coma
>Yakuza 4 never would have happened if Mine didnt throw himself off the roof
>Yakuza 5 never would have happened if the Dying Omi patriach didnt piss and shit himself over not being able to secure a legacy
>Yakuza 6 never wouldnt have happened if Haruka didnt tank her idol reputation on live TV
>Kiryu is known to constantly being able to take on large groups of dudes by himself, often surrounded and outgunned
>get shocked when you and your dudes get your asses kicked by him
it's funny when even Shishidou was shocked that he lost when he's SEEN Kiryu fuck up multiple groups by himself multiple times
Shishidou had already lost like multiple times against Kiryu by the time of the finale
Dude still thinks that he can win because surely this time will be different
Shishidou kind of earned his fate into being Nishitani's toy while they're locked up by Daidoji.

i just don't fucking get it
Riichi was called since they were just one tile away from having a full hand.
That's not how pinfu works but it's close enough

give it to me straight, should i bite the bullet and buy 8? turn based stuff puts me off but i really wanna try the animal crossing gamemode
>turn-based puts me off but i want to try animal crossing mode
then wait for Mr. Phil Spencer to bring it to gamepass.
So if I don't pump up other fighters' level, I can't beat higher tier teamfights?
just need to find the right combo of high damage heals and defense
just experiment and se what works
rocket and machine gun abilities are OP
Make sure you're using higher tier characters. Don't be taking bronze shitters into platinum rumbles even if they are level 20.
I tried playing one of the Yakuza games and it was just a never-ending series of cutscenes with occasional short gameplay parts. It felt like a 3d VN, except no girls. Am I missing something? inb4 the point
These are minigame compilations with an attached TV drama.
they are games for women
Yakuza is a manly soap opera about buff dudes that tear their clothes off to have honorable fist fights with each other on top of skyscrapers. And also there's fun minigames and side quests. If you don't get it, you don't get it.
Also
>no girls
But there are lots?
maybe you played the longer ones like 7 and 0? those are really slow in the beginning, but be it main quest or the side ones, there is going to be a lot of reading
They surprisingly keep him alive and hint that he'll come back so maybe it's setup for that
My guess is Daidoji will keep him and Shishido on a short lease until the VTuber in Infinite Wealth leaks that Kiryu is alive.
>Majima bases his Mad Dog persona on the real Nishitani
>Nishitani III, already stealing the name of some other guy, basically becomes a knockoff Mad Dog Majima by the end (but genuinely psycho)
KAZAMA WAS RIGHT ABOUT KOREANS
>Nishitani being revealed as a secret korean jingweon
I just assume everyone that Kiryu meets and their grand mothers are all jingweon
Haruka and Haruto are also jingweon
I'm almost surprised Kiryu himself isn't, like we know Kazama killed a lot of koreans and we know he killed Kiryu's parents, so put two and two together
>the real jingweon was inside us all along
KINO
Between him and Joon-gi Han (twice) I'm tired of these jingweon fucks. Stop coming back, please.
>tfw you realise the Daidoji have actually just been kidnapping all the past villains of the previous games after Kiryu beats them and now RGG has the perfect excuse to bring literally anyone they want back
Well, we know Nishiki blew up in the Milennium Tower so he's probably dead, Ryuji also blew up and has imitators so he's also probably dead, Mine is probably still alive because he jumped off the roof with Andre and Andre is alive, Munakata shot himself in the head so he's dead, Aizawa was left in the snow at the Tojo Clan HQ so he has a very good chance of coming back, and little baby Iwami was left for dead at the harbor but he has a good chance of coming back. So that leaves us 2/6, possibly 3/6, which isn't too bad.
>Ryuji
I kinda liked how they handled all that in this game. Kiryu still clearly wishes the guy was still around, but accepts that the best thing he can do at this point is keep his legacy clean. Ties in with the game's themes of letting go of the past and moving on.
that said it would work BETTER if this series wasn't constantly bringing back every other dead guy
>actor is literally korean
>surprised that the character ends up being a secret korean
>actor is literally korean
How was I supposed to know that?
The opening credits has a korean name in it, plus he was in all the advertising
I'm not surprised that he's korean, I was surprised they pulled another secret jingweon. I respect the sheer gaul considering Yakuza 2's story is that basically everyone was a korean
thank god its over
Also kazama is alive
can someone explain to a mahjonglet why I didn't win here?
it's 4 sets and a pair, no?
No Yaku
Isn't all sequences/trips a yaku?
No, that's just the shape that the majority of winning hands are.
It's hard to explain in a few words but you'd need to look up a list/tutorial of the yaku and what they are exactly.
To put it simply, your hand doesn't have riichi/tsumo because you opened your hand by calling pon on the 6sou and 9sou. You also don't have tanyao because of the 9sou and 1pin. Naturally, you don't have any of the more complex yaku either and thus you can't declare a win.
wtf is that?
the 2 min tutorial i watched didnt cover this!!!!
I read somewhere that Hanawa was actually the aniki of the final boss from yakuza 5
Based on the information provided, that is probably true.
He shares the same VA and the ending shows Hanawa knows about Taichi Suzuki and that he's personally met Kiryu before, which means there's only a handful of people that knew him under his alias and Morinaga/Hanawa is one of them.
Behold, Hanawa's true identity:
kino
it's actually Nishiki who underwent facial surgery after the explosion
he's clearly Mine Yoshitaka
he's been helping kiryu behind the scenes for stopping him from killing the man he loves Daigo Dojima
The forbidden knowledge he taught was too powerful hence why they never brought him back.
>begin stroke
I'm so immature for giggling at this
For me its Akame
JORYU! JORYU! JORYU! JORYU! JORYU! JORYU! JORYU! JORYU! JORYU! JORYU! JORYU! JORYU! JORYU! JORYU! JORYU! JORYU! JORYU! JORYU! JORYU! JORYU! JORYU! JORYU! JORYU! JORYU! JORYU! JORYU! JORYU! JORYU! JORYU! JORYU! JORYU! JORYU! JORYU! JORYU! JORYU! JORYU! JORYU! JORYU! JORYU! JORYU! JORYU! JORYU! JORYU! JORYU!
is this chick korean or just bogged japanese actress?
Full on Japanese, born in Chiba. She's an idol that started her career in 2013 (which is funny considering that Akame wanted to become an idol before turning to information gathering).
jesus that face used to be pretty, what a tragedy
It makes sense that she was an idol coz she actually sounds very nice in Karaoke.
The graphics in the 8 demo are way worse than in Gaiden
Dragon Engine is so good at urban nighttime...butway worse at all else
CORNSTAR YOKOSO
RGG is getting way too good at modeling female characters.
I fell in love with numerous beatiful faces. And the castle is coomtown deluxe
does this chick show up again
if not then what a fucking waste of a top tier model
Maybe in 8/Gaiden 2? I imagine they have some kind of plans for her, they introduce her with some kind of major unspecified medical problem and then she's never seen again.
I assumed she just felt sick because someone drugged her but she got out because Joryu was watching ber.
i made cummies
>you have to do side content to continue story
not a fan of this
Yeah, seems pointless to call it side content then.
Just play the fucking game
i like rushing story during my first playthrough and doing 100% on my second
Sure but there's no new game plus in this game and all the skill upgrades are tied to doing side content. No real reason to ignore it in gaiden.
Welcome to nu rgg
SMOKE
>Long as fuck animation
>Small bit of health and 1 bar of Heat
At least you can skip it
>the reason kiryu got cancer was because of the cigs he'd been smoking before the coliseum battles
whoa they put yong yea in the game
>6 was so much more technical
why have people recently been making shit up to make 6 look good
kiryu doesn't feel sluggish at all
contrarianism
He feels more sluggish at times, now he can get hit with Judgment deadly attacks and is stunned for far longer. As far as combat 6 was more technical, you can't prove that wrong bitch.
>He feels more sluggish at times
not at all
you're making shit up
He's not wrong, didn't Kiwami 2 have combo speed upgrades
yes but it's fast from the get-go in gaiden
shut the fuck up retard
nu-rgg cuck doesnt even know that 6 isnt nu-rgg, have a nice day nigga. but the nu-rgg cuck read on reddit that 6 wasn't liked by other nu-rgg cucks
this nu-rgg cuck never played any yakuza game before nu-rgg
Yeah I know you didn't play the game now. You just watched them or mashed through them.
>triple dodge is replaced with single dodge+slow roll
>can't escape the hangman anymore by mashing e
>mashing out of stun is slower
>Kiryu writhes in pain for 10 seconds after getting hit with a Judgment attack
You have more options like parry, charge kick is good. You can wall splat people. You have more heat actions, especially in extreme heat. You can dash cancel out of most shit if it misses to make it safe. Maybe having too many option is a bad thing and taking shit away like they did in Gaiden is a good thing like you're saying.
>mouse and keyboard
>triple dodge
that's the only thing that made 6 combat decent
>getting hit by judgment attacks at all
>getting stunned at all when you get accessories early on to prevent stun
why would anyone play these games with a mouse and keyboard
you'd need that level of brain damage to like 6 I guess
how is 6 ""technical""
this game was made for nu-rgg cucks who just spam square and triangle and cant press more than 3 buttons in quick succession. the game doesnt even have a legendary difficulty
protip: only nu-rgg cucks like 6
we won
They didn't show us the interactions between Kiryu and Ichiban in Yokohama and explain what's he doing there and how he knows the Geomijul
>Ichiban vs Kiryu fight from 7 but you're Kiryu now
>Ichiban is just wildly flailing and you can take him down in one hit
Keep it in a dub whining thread please, this thread is for game discussion
suck my dick yong
have a nice day Yong
lost so much respect for kiryu's og va
Oh Darryl, a half-asiatic-venezuelan does not match Kiryu's nationality or culture at all. Not even his voice fits either.
welp he is american after all
he is still based for this
Sounds like an interesting read. Got a link, friend?
Spineless. Pathetic. Revolting.
Yeah, it's pretty good. The judgment games still had better gameplay though,
Yeah, it's good. The final chapter is awesome.
Game is short though and has a large focus on side content.
Yagami is a lot more agile than Kiryu, but Kiryu is more agile in this title. If you're not super invested in the series, just get Game Pass and play it there. I had my fun with it, but I could definitely see people getting turned away from the $50 price tag.
I do have gamepass so that settle it, thanks anon
>tfw finished ishin's completion list
don't know what to feel actually
Does this spoil Judgement?
No
No but a few judgement characters show up in side quests and the coliseum.
Judgment is completely independent from Yakuza aside from a cameo from Zhao in Lost Judgment. The only thing this game has are characters from Judgment that show up in one side quest and in the arena.
What does she like
americans like us
Smoking, light flirting and teasing, information gathering, and helping the homeless that helped her when she just started her career
holy shit fuck these one-shot challenges
have to make the most absolute MINUIT adjustments to make sure you hit one ball so it hits the ball you have to hit in the pocket
It could be worse, you could be me and have done the challenges before the akame request and have to clear them a second time for the fag sitting nearby.
You don't actually have to clear them, I did like one stage of the normal challenge and failed the rest but the guy still accepted that as enough
The fuck? I wish I knew that.
The game really punishes you for doing side content early. All the pool challenges, bingo golf and karaoke challenges are not retroactive.
How do you best S rank matches in coliseum? After gold all mooks just keep their distance, making it impossible to gang up on them in tine
Overall, you want a majority of them to be attackers, maybe 2 defenders and 1 medic.
>people now praising 6's combat
what the fuck
its one schizo
there's been on guy in every thread proclaiming 6 is better than Gaiden
a pc schizo no less
Don't fucking misunderstand me, I still prefer Kiwami 1 combat. It's just a simple fact that they nerfed Kiryu in Gaiden and made him more accessible to mashers, he was more powerful in 6 if you knew how to use him.
>I still prefer Kiwami 1 combat
your bait is slipping my dude
If you didn't beat every game on the highest difficulty, your opinion on the intricacies of yakuza combat is worthless. Get fucked mashers.
>fails to grab once
>keeps trying to grab
you deserved that
He was going for a parry but you wouldn't know that.
trying to mash for the parry is just dumb
You fucking stupid?
>highest difficulty
these games are very casual so this isn't really bragging rights
playing on higher difficulty doesn't even do anything but make enemies damage sponges. and you still cheese most bosses anyway or just spam tiger drop
>playing on higher difficulty doesn't even do anything but make enemies damage sponges
It's either 6 or LJ where there's a great example of fat guys throwing people and bikes at you from the background while other guys are grabbing bikes and you're still there fighting like two guys right next to you.
>wesker fight
it's ok to play grabkuza 3 on easy
This is just bad luck. Hide behind pillars when he shoots and then go at him with furniture.
You don't even need to do that. Literally just run to his side, he has Arase's moveset and will constantly try the standing still double shot spam which cements him in place. If he's not doing that then he will do the gunkata spin shot moveset from Arase which you can just dodge behind his back and get a free combo.
>kiwami
lol get the fuck outta here
I always like that heat move. I just wish he wasn't stationary since he got lifted off the ground
Hopefully Kaito gets more in the future.
>the robo-nishiki taunts you if it knocks you down
kino
>Kiryu was so burnt by his kyodai taunting after knocking him down that it was scanned into the robot's arsenal despite not being an offensive move
>plays the kiwami version of his theme instead of the true version
soulless
Tsuruno: "Ok, Kyriu, are you in?"
Kyriu: "i told you my name is Joryu-"
Tsuruno: "Say Joryiu one more fucking time and im burning down your orphanage"
I chuckled
>play 3
>expect to hate it
>love it
>play 5
>expect to love it
>it's a slog
Congratulations, you're not an NPC, you have taste.
Whats wrong anon? You don't like playing the same minigame and listening to the same jpop songs over and over and over for 5 hours?
I'm seriously thinking about just watching a youtube video on it and skipping to 6.
Just skip all of the haruka cutscenes. Literally none of the idol shit is important
The Yakuza 5 experience is the same for all people
>Kiryu's part is kino
>Saejima's part is fine but kind of annoying to get through
>The game screeches to a halt at Haruka and Akiyama's section and becomes a slog
>Get to Shinada and it's fun again
>the game is over
The worst part for me was that I enjoyed the Shinada part the most, but it had fuck all to do with the rest of the game and then he just randomly shows up at the end for a fight.
Game should've ended on top of Kamurocho Hills.
i love 3 and 5
my only issue with 5 is they spent too much time on haruka's dancing shit and it cunt into akiyama's chapter
other than that 5 is my favorite but that's probably due to bias from having to wait so long for it to be localized and it's probably the import i played the most
Everything in this fucking game is designed to pad out the playtime as long as possible
>Multiple side contents are inserted into the main story
>Need cash to buy skills, but story fights including bosses don't drop money. Can't have our player progressing by playing the story alone!
>Need Akame points to buy mid to high level skill, can't upgrade your character if you only do the main content.
Imagine not playing the side content in a yakuza game
>side content
why is it in my main content?
Bet you didn't know this, but you can beat the game without buying a single upgrade.
At worst, you have to skip through 1 hostess session and watch a cutscene about pocket circuit.
>Bet you didn't know this, but you can beat the game without buying a single upgrade.
Did you beat the game with no upgrade?
Exactly
I could have if I had autism and hated doing side content for some reason
So you didn't.
I accept your concession.
>they force me to do side content 🙁
No they don't end of story get fucked
>No they don't
Forced hostess session
I accept another concession
Wait youre telling me that hostess shit is forced? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
To pass the time they have you do 1 hostess session and some coliseum fights.
>He didn't play the game
>main appeal isn't the side content or the virtual holiday aspect
not a real fan lol
SALTY YEN OUT
If you find any of these games to be a slog, you aren't a real fan.
real as fuck
Kiryu and Haruka both should've died in 5.
>fuck akame fetch quest shit to upgrade your abilities
>put the final boss on easy because i just want to see the story
no shame
I am losing. I understand why they let you figure out the games by yourself but the learning curve in the beginning is steep.
>here are the buttons that play the game
>but we won't tell you how to actually play it
>go
I am getting better at this and baseball, pool, bowling and darts are fairly more straight forward.
Is this cunt telling me Gaiden has tailing missions? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
EZ *clap*
Joryu, I kneel
how
i'm getting filtered by normal 3 (and 2 as well when i just don't get the EXACT right angle to hit the yellow ball into the red into the pocket)
Normal 3 is unironically the hardest shot in the entire challenge.
>Beating bosses give nothing
Even Soulshits reward players for beating bosses
Where can I find the "Formal Attire"?
It's story locked. You will get it automatically.
I see, thanks man.
I try to do everything before progressing the story. Just reached chapter 3 after 20 hours
Yeah, you'll get it automatically part way through Chapter 4.
i am really glad they clarified that the ending of 6 was stupid
I got a golden ball from a buff dude on a boat in the river early in the game.
Now I need to take a picture of him for a mission but idk how to spawn him? Is it just random or?
Daytime only
are there really retards in this thread crying about having to actually play the game? Why did you even get it? Fuck off, retards
>Ganker makes fun of Kiryu crying
>Get to that part
>It's actually heartbreaking
Joryu san, gomenasai……
>the zoomer doesn't know about DVD-watching parlours
How did they manage to make this in 6 months? I thought it was gonna be an extremely short asset flip but this unironically feels better than Ishin.
To be honest it's probably just some jp to english misunderstanding that tends to happen when things are translated
Already made assets + devs that care about the job = kino in short time
Saw something that they're getting even better at asset re-use than they were before.
Like it used to be they'd have to program a new Mahjong minigame every time they made a new game but now they can just sort of copy paste it. So development for some stuff in Gaiden happened at the same time as stuff for 8.
Enough gaiden for now... i will read this thread on my bed
>Get to the Yakuza dissolution scene
>Kyriu doesnt even mention that Joon-Gi Han is somehow alive and protecting Watase
He talks about that in 7
That;s 4 Yakuza games I am waiting to get cracked
don't blow this joryu
OH GOD WHAT IS THIS
can you even fail these
Yes you can fail and if you dont pick the right one all 3 times you dont get to fuck her
I think I'm safe..
I brought up my dead father figure.
worst part about playing a yakuza game is i get so distracted and never can just focus on one thing until completion, be it some mini-game or combat and so on
Her VA is really good. I hope she comes back.
First Summer Uika's good, yeah.
i don't usually find nips attractive but she's up there.
>showed up for the hostess audition cause her agent didn't tell her about the part she had been cast for
>didn't advance
Fucking hilarious. Glad she got this part, she would've been wasted in hostess stuff.
yokoyama looks so weird lol
like a well off homeless man
>her name is actually First Summer
What the deuce?
Is this the best street encounters in the series? They start so fast, the groups are big and they give a lot oof cash too.
I actually seek them out instead of avoiding them now lol
>they give a lot of cash too
It's a waste of time to do any street fights for money the moment after you unlock the Colosseum.
I really wish they updated Y6, K2 and Y7 with DLSS/FSR2 support.
Y6 at 4k native runs at the same framerate as Gaiden on DLSS Quality kek
I have yet to play Y6 on PC, since I played it on PS4, but Gaiden runs way better than Kiwami 2.
Don't cause you'll probably blow your own brains out seeing how much better Y6, an almost 10 yr old game, looks
It plays like shit so he will quickly get over looks.
It plays better than Gaiden, maybe you didn't play 6 either with a proper frame rate
release version on ps4 was intended experience, everything else are versions for scrubs
true kino experience except movies get more fps
I'm going to play it with Style Switcher when I play it on PC.
Gaiden looks miles better than 6, shut the fuck up already.
Yeah on planet blind homosexual retard where you reside
okay retard
you keep spewing this shit every thread and are constantly proven wrong - even by that tripfag moose
>DLSS
>good
lol
Dragon Engine anti-aliasing is so bad that DLSS is a visual improvement to the image quality.
It's literally impossible to get rid of Y6 jaggies. Even at 4k they are extremely noticeable.
Y6 has supersampling to get rid of jaggies
gaiden looks better though, 6fag
>same role as info broker from classic games
>flower pattern shirt
bazed
sex soon
Kiryu would lose his retard wizard strength if so
basically sex
this is all moving so fast
I played darts with a rando at the bar once, am I gay
Forget Akame
Beating Hanawa in darts gave me a Royal Joker Card
Will they learn that Dragon Engine is better than Unreal now
sadly hawaii in the 8 demo shows the weaknesses of the engine
>This guy tries to maul Haruto
>Kiryu fights him
>Sad backstory of why he maul people
>Promises Kiryu he will change his way
Spoilers for final final final optional boss fight
was the amon storyline just a reference to Yakuza 1
Why the fuck did both Amon and Joryu play it so completely straight
I expected Joryu to say SOMETHING referencing Amon
YONG OUT
i'm only up to yakuza 5 so i still got a ways to go before i get to this
Yakuza 5 was my favorite in the series until Judgment and Lost Judgment
Yakuza 5 is my least favorite Yakuza
>most side content
>best virtual holiday
>most fun kiryu to play
fake fan opinion discarded
>1 consistently good part
>2 good parts if you don't count Shinada's combat
>Akiyama's heat actions take forever
>Akiyama's gimmick makes his combat less fun
>only good side content is Haruka and Saejima
>virtual holiday with nothing to do in each (lol saejima city)
>0 and Dragon Engine Kiryu is better
>we'll just fake your death again bro
6 wasn't bad as a game. Just the ending kinda sucked. They ruined Haruka as a character, but let's be honest and admit they did that in 5.
Other than "that" story plot, 4 was better 5 tbh
Better villains
Better finale chapter and fights
Better playable characters
Better Haruka
Better story, god the idol concert plot was dumb
Grown ass 50 something man with a clown makeup ruining kids’ fun by beating the shit out of them in pocket circuit races
The place is a thing more for adults than kids anyway, given how the drinks menu is mostly booze.
we live in a society
dipping basil chicken into cheese, what an idea.
what's the reasoning behind having cosmetics specific to general gameplay and then cosmetics specific to coliseum
i want to look like a clown in coliseum not when i'm doing sub-stories and main story
>I'll try doing poker legit before I cheat, lets see how much I make
>AI keeps getting flushes/straights
>I'm lucky if I ever get two pair
am i just really unlucky or is the AI actually stacked
The AI is always stacked in poker, blackjack, chou-hand, and oicho-kabu. The only one where they're not is koi-koi and you can very easily understand that the AI always wants to go for high value cards and assumes anything you place without taking a card is high value.
Whenever you play poker just save, raise like three or four times, call, and then raise to the end. You really shouldn't try to play it seriously, just bluff. The only people who don't fold before the river either have a pair or face cards, and the only people who don't fold after the river have a pair bare minimum.
I’d say the story is actually decent without Nagoshi except the part where Daidoji spares Hawana and Kiryu which seems kinda forced.
You have been here IRL, right anon?
no mantits, i havent
did you ever change your clothes
Been to Kabukicho months ago. It was like walking through a portal to a third world country because goddamn garbages we’re everywhere
Why's your game look like a burnt turd?
6 looks so smudgey. Can't put my finger on it..
colors look so dim and lifeless here
Get an OLED retard.
>colors looking flatter in 6 than Gaiden is the screen's fault
stop replying to the 6fag he's delusional
>SEAkek needs extreme saturation on his $50 LCD garbage to make it look good
Get a real monitor poorfag
So how much will a trip to Kamurocho for a week will cost apart from the tickets?
Do hostess clubs cost 12000yen a visit?
most of the clubs there don't service gaijin. There are other red light districts elsewhere that will.
>racism in 2023
Japan is cringe
I wouldn't want to wait on naggers or retard ass Americans (or even worse, Australians) either; can't blame them
Good for them in the end. I don't think it the end it will worth it.
Imagine the feel when you exit the place after a visit paying all this money for small talk..
>racism in 2023
Japan is based
How considerate of them to not allow gaijin to be scammed.
oh, you can get scammed, you'll just need to go where there's SEAmonkey women and Koreans working instead
Gaijin not welcome
>get your ass kicked by Joryu
>be forced to become a Japanese glowie
do you think they would have preferred actual death
We dont know if they will actually serve and since there is no way to blackmail them i wouldnt be surprised they kill the top Daidoji guys in 8 leading to Kiryu being free.
I’d laugh my ass off if Shishido is the one behind the vtuber who snitched Kiryu
>we have to disband the yakuza because the government has a noose around our necks
>no you can't do that
>loses and becomes government slave
funny that they do make him mask up for the Coliseum
Shishidou probably would have preferred it because that Daidoji agent really made it sound like they were planning on chucking him in the same cell as Nishitani III pretty much putting Shishidou back into the same spot he was during his Colosseum days.
Am I Ichiban now?
>Finally in free roam
Where are you heading first? For me, it's the arcade.
🙂
what the fuck is that
the famous castle bowl
Not cheese gyudon, that's what
Looks like a bunch of cow tongues
Looks like chashu pork seasoned with something.
Rice, medium rare beef, and garlic by the looks of it.
>clothes actually get wet
TECHNOLOGY
Dragon Engine needs ray tracing. The new lighting is decent but it looks too harsh and flat.
why am I doing pocket racing lol
every single time I get endlessly distracted
HEH, sorry Tsuruno!
I'm a little bit of a pool enjoyer if I do say so myself.
Does this play good on potatoes like the Samurai Yakuza demo?
Gaiden lacks good boss theme.
Nothing comes close to this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fzqx7Dp3a8Y
Nishitani's boss theme is great.
most of gaidens ost is dogshit tbh aside from 1 or 2 tracks
the opening theme is legitimately one of the worst songs i've ever heard, anywhere
Should I do it?
Do it
yo dawg let me in dat der club
Finished the game last night, what's the general consensus here? I thought it was good but not great, a lot of the pacing and mandatory side content really started to piss me off.
Also, am I correct in remembering that there were only 2 boss qtes in the whole story, one in the fight at the warehouse on the docks and the other in the final boss?
okay,,,
Dragon Engine needs proper ray traced Global Illumination holy shit. That model isn't even that awful but that extremely unnatural lighting butchers the appearance completely.
?si=k1bWjDOxMsOzzVUB
I DIDN@T SEE THIS STORY
it's not in the demaster
That's what I get for being a Steam drone...
I will watch the cut content on Youtube.
?t=594
This is everything that was cut from 3R outside of Answerxanswer.
>justin.tv
take me back
>get 90 or over 90 on this song!
>song goes on for like four minutes
please let this hell end. i've been playing muted because the music distracts from pressing the buttons.
>enemies keep blocking everything in the middle of a combo
>that's alright, i have this handy grab button
>grabbing only works on lean mooks, does not work on anyone heavier or more important
>better to just do triple combo finishers on every enemy because superarmor charged attacks are a thing and the first one will break their guard
oh fucking sweet i'm glad to see that yakuza 3 is back
Enemies barely block in this game. It's almost impossible to do the Daidoji heat move against blocking enemies because of that.
anyone play with german subtitles?
lol at the end card. they fucked up hard. its "to be continued", but it translated in one word as
WEITER which means "continue" or "goes on". i fucking laughed
then in the 8 demo, they fucking love random letters someones just fucking tapped around on a keyboard
They also translated the "order" button in the team hell rumble as "Bestellen", lmao'd at this when I realized that
Man, it's not fucking fair to Pocket Circuit Fighter. He ages like a normal man while Kiryu still looks 30.
Kiryu's got the virgin power keeping him young
>89.931 on like a butterfly
it's not fair! IT'S NOT FAIR!
>People still believe that Y8 Kiryu is the real one
i thought Kiryu's new haircut would weird me out but after fucking around as him in the demo, you get used to it
i thought it was a wig to cover up the cancer/chemo treatment?
Some people were theorizing that, since either the model wasn't finalized or trailer compression made his hair look like a shitty kpop style that would be used as a joke. In-game it just looks like his hair is down and greying rather than something silly.
IT WAS WORTH DOING
ALL THOSE GAMES, BUDDY YOU AND ME
POCKET CAR FOREVER
wait, this game was good? i thought it was gonna be a cashgrab.
>beat gold samurai a third time
>doesn't join your hell team
shit sucks. also how tf do i make good use of the drones? seems like they're better off used for defense
can you make Joryu look like he did in 7?
forgot pic
closest i could get
Will we ever learn who was really Joryu ? He looks so similiar to certain someone.
