Itsuno isn't even responsible for Nero. He originally didn't have plans for DMC4 and wanted to work on Dragon's Dogma after DMC3. And Vergil is as much of his "OC" as Nero is or more. He decided to put Nero in DMC5 because the Japanese fans who started with DMC4 told him they associated the franchise with him and because he heard there was a demand from Western fans to know if he was Vergil's kid.

This is the truth and why I didn't replay DMC5 as much as the others. I hate playing as V, I don't find him interesting or satisfying to get good at, and I don't like his design at all.
I wish they had released a patch that let you play as any character solo through the entire story so I could avoid ever touching V again. At least the Vergil DLC exists and I guess the coop trainer.
You need to play V only a total of twelve times to complete DMD. You then can never play him again unless you want to do HaH and HoH. You should have enough red and gold orbs to beat a mission even if you die too.
Really, there's no excuse. If you can't get through V missions then you weren't going to go for scores in the first place, and your idea of "replaying" is doing the game from start to finish like it's a show.

Vergil is the most braindead actually, he's insanely broken and while he has some advanced stylish stuff you really don't need any of it. Most of the time enemies will die before you can really get anything complex going, but that's the fun of the character because he's just a huge power trip, like playing a boss character.
V is the character that's the most boring and requires the least effort or strategy, I hate playing as that homosexual and will never touch him again.
Complex doesn't mean good, objectively. Furthermore, DMC isn't the most complex character action game by a large margin.
