The fact that no matter how hard we "vote with our vallets" shit just continued to get worse and worse. Almost like ignoring the issue doesn't work.

          >no matter how hard we "vote with our vallets"
It never happened moron, people kept buying it and normalizing it more and more, companies only go so far as the public tolerates it, and gamers are apparently very economically tolerant

It literally does happen with woke games. Nobody buys them, yet they make more of them every year.

I was talking about dlcs and lootboxes, but not true though, "woke" games sell because casual people don't care. Baldur's Gate sold well and people here call it woke. Give me one recent woke game that wasn't lucrative.

Voting with your wallet was always a fricking cope.
Who do you think makes the vast majority of the video game market? Stupid kids who don't know any better and have no standards. Their parents give even less of a shit. They'll just buy whatever their kid wants, no questions asked.
For every game you refuse to buy, 10 consumerist morons will gladly purchase it.

actually, according to various statistics usually published by developers main audience is 20-30

when has the issue ever been ignored? you've been screeching about this shit for at least a decade. you say voting with your wallet doesn't work. show your receipts. e.g. steam account with average purchase price and total spend.

we already see, in principle, that voting with wallets does work, because genshin and fortnite keep delivering cute girls, and they take in more revenue than most games. so either you aren't really voting, or, as is your predisposition, you keep voting against your own interests and legitimately can't figure out why things keep going badly for you.

bro no hyperbole, 90% of people don't have that genetic component that makes them understand the value of money. I could be a billionaire and I wouldn't buy horse armour, but that's a minority mindset. The saying 'a fool and his money are soon parted' has existed for thousands of years for a reason, and because most people are examples of this saying today, we have abject mediocrity.

You guys don't realize what vote with your wallet means.
No you won't stop Ubishit from softing out another shitty AC. You won't make EA suddenly go back to making games without MTX

What you will be able to do is support developers who make games you want. By supporting them, they may make more games you like.

Ganker has such low impulse control they buy whatever the newest goyslop is regardless of how bad the previous one was because they don't want to be left out

Yeah, people need to remember shit like this is a thing because people buy it.
I remember Bethesda wanted to ask like 50 cents for it, but MS was like "thats less then a wallpaper, make it 2,50" and beth thought nobody was going to spend it on that shit, but people did.

I still remember that the original pitch was that you could buy weapons or skins for 50 cents or so (hence the word micro) and that they intend to sell like 50k of them to make a fun profit.
But companies did a frick you to test the waters and asked 10bucks for a skin, and people ate it up. We are now here, where some people defend it

      Completely wrong.
      >federal reserve banking prints money to devalue currency, resulting in abolishing of the gold standard and currency becoming fiat currency
      >rampant property based speculation and reselling of debts and mortgage leads to situations where people are forced into foreclosure and most property ends up being owned by banks, up to 20-30% of all money is now simply imaginary pretend money that banks made up so they can open more loans
      >investment bankers become insanely rich and now can dictate the pace of economics
      >regular people are completely cheated out of everything by wealthy elite that now proceed to ruin everything for everyone in pursuit of profit, rising prices fivefold in the last twenty years while the dollar's purchasing power hit a record low
Nothing would have changed if Oblivion hadn't sold a single copy. It is an issue that is much more far reaching than fricking videogames, it affects every facet of our existence because money is literally your life.

Buying ‘currency’ should be illegal. It literally exists to force you to spend more than you’d like and to mess with your brain because most people are too lazy to do the match on a purchase to see how much they really spent.

This you can unironically blame on younger people, I remember at some point when you complained about loot boxes or DLCs being planned even before the game was out you'd be called a boomer or poor, now see where did it take us. It was never about the price nor the content.

Can I ask, how many of you have actually spent money on this junk? Cause I’ve personally never spent a single cent on micro transactions or cosmetics. If you’re not spending money on them, then who is it that is? How much of the gaming population is ok blowing their savings on useless junk every week?

You don't actually believe this, do you?
This was 2 years before the third biggest financial crisis in the world and 20 years before THE biggest financial crisis in the world. $20 IN 2006 money has the same purchasing power as about $80 to $100 in 2024 money.

Even by those calculations the old horse armor would be at most 15 dollars in today's money. Shut the frick up, you absolute mouth breather.

Even if you say that there's a 10x inflation rate, which I am not denying that may be the case in reality, $3 (2.50 rounded up) still comes out as $30, nowhere near $65.
