Yep. This is one of the greatest games of all time.

It has everything.
Sick story.
Sick soundtrack.
Sick Gameplay.
SPACEWALKS?
A fricking cool as helmet that lets you see everything.
Alien superpowers.
Jesus Christ. This game is amazing.
It needs to be a movie, a book, an entire franchise.
We DESERVE a Prey 2. and a Prey 3.

Give this game the justice it deserves. Agreed Ganker?

wish I liked it as much as I thought I would. Here are my short thoughts on it:

"Played this game. Got bored immediately, constantly led on, and the combat is garbage because no ADS, so no different shooting sensitivity from camera sensitivity. And on top of that it's incredibly tedious (not hard) to kill enemies early on. Any "challenges" to overcome can be trivialized by like 3-6 options, making any "challenge" almost fricking meaningless. Exploration doesn't feel engaging because it's so simple and the game is constantly telling you where to go anyway. You never have to figure anything out. And I TURNED OFF objective markers. And it's not like going out of your way to go somewhere else is fun because frick, I don't know what it is, but it's just so boring to go anywhere. There were other places I KNEW I could check out, but I just didn't want to because it felt more like "omg you can go off to a side path for a potion in a JRPG!" and less like "you can go off to a side path in dark souls that's still completely part of the level and progression and get lost getting looped around this interconnected level finding the way to the boss"

Just fricking boring and shit overall"

ok Prey irritates me too but
      >because no ADS
why is this an issue when the environments are typically small enough to always fire from the hip?

        >why is this an issue when the environments are typically small enough to always fire from the hip?

I haven't played the game in a while so I forgot why it triggered me. but your point doesn't even Inherently make sense. There are tons of FPS games in small contained enviroments that have ADS. ADS is about being able to separate your camera and aim sensitivity so that you have greater control over both.

If the game is going to have me shooting shit alot, then it should have ADS

After reading this I must advise you, and shill again because I already did it in my previous post, to play system shock. The remake or the original I don't care.
It fixes all the problems you're listing in your post. Prey is just too easy, too generous, too simplistic with all problems able to be solved by at least three different options to make sure the player never get stuck no matter his build. As a result there's no challenge, no tension, it's boring as a cow chewing on hay and waiting all day for a train to pass so she can glaze over.

I think they're just Bethesda bots. They can't shill for that other Todd's space game because it's the laughing stock of the internet, that generic space game I forgot the name because it's so generic and its only milestone is to be the space game with the most hideous Black folk in it. Well they can't shill it so they have to pick another game to shill to stay relevant, and Skyrim is like ten trillions years old so they're not making much threads about it too.

I explained why, having a worthy discussion with nu prey fans isn't something I ever had on this board. Always getting dishonest jabs and it's taxing on the mental health to repeat yourself only for them and shills to say dumb things again a few messages later as they act like if they didn't see the previous posts.

Also I can give you another explanation, after years spent on Ganker:shill central I became accustomed to seeing threads about forgotten games popping out of nowhere whenever a company is thinking about working on a remake/remaster. Maybe it's what's about to happen.

shame it's one of those games that gives you many options to play but forgets to limit them on a class basis so you're capable of using every method to advance, making it a fricking joke in terms of difficulty, even on nightmare
    >crawl through vents
    >fly over with jetpack
    >use gloo gun to build a staircase and bypass the whole thing
    >shoot override button with nerf crossbow
    >shoot PC with nerf crossbow
    >hack keypad
    >find code on email / audio log
    >find and open door with keycard
    >move objects blocking way with strength
    >move objects blocking way with explosives
    >recycle objects blocking way with recycle grenades
    >mimic an object and go through small gap
    >mimic an operator and fly through the door or gap
    >use telekinesis to interact with stuff from outside of the room
just about the only thing missing is using the stun gun to temporarily bypass electronic security
this is why mooncrash DLC is superior to the base game story, because mooncrash actually makes it class based and doesn't allow each class to access all forms of exploration and movement options
the world building and environment was great though, felt pretty immersive and believable overall, didn't feel too far out there or ridiculous, typhon powers aside
shame it burns out at the midpoint by not introducing anything new or interesting, and there's nothing new in terms of progression left to unlock, making the final half of the game feel like one giant fetch quest slog
dummied out code shows the game was meant to be much more hardcore with limited use fab licenses and no neuromod crafting, but...i guess bethesda forced them to release some casual shit instead

I liked the survival horror stuff, cool twist on an Arkane immersive sim. The re-use of old areas, safe rooms, etc.
I like how it starts off tense and interesting, when you go into a room and don't know what's an alien and what isn't. And I'd say it's kind of par for the course for something like an RE game, that by the end of it it's not scary and you're shooting everything up. But I wish the tense phase lasted a little while longer in Prey.

      Yes, it's gigabased.

Dishonored already had ugly characters. They gave precedence to strong features over sex appeal which fits the overall esthetic of the games.

        Anonymous

Dishonored art style makes sense in the setting of the game. If you pay attention guards all have that burly, low brow, doggish look to them revealing their obedient nature toward their masters while the upper class all have vermin characteristics leaking through the gaudy opulent clothes and apparels, they look like rats, and like the rats in the game scurrying around, gnawing at the world and spreading the plague until everyone's sick and all resources are depleted, they're parasitic in nature.
The art style in Dishonored serves a purpose. In prey I think they're just aping the style of dishonored without having a proper personal art style.

          Anonymous

          >The art style in Dishonored serves a purpose.
Prey takes place in a total racial entropy future of turbomutts (they somehow still go to space but job to ayyys). That's enough lore background for everyone to be ugly.

That's depressing to think about. It works with Todd's last space game too.

It's ok but no game is sold mainly on story.
It's essentially the latest (and I fear the last) immersive sim released outside small indie projects. The game leans heavily on using its level design coupled with special powers.

Seeing how Prey failed and seeing people dismissing the game just because it was called Prey (or looking for any stupid excuse not to play it) was one of the moments that made me realize that video game communities are full of idiots who wouldn't recognize a good piece of work even if it was right in front of them. This very thread is an example of that.
