pure sovl... where did it all go wrong
Achievements.
They told developers most people don't play games to the completion, they freaked out, ruined everything, and most people still don't play games to the completion, but now are more bored because the little they still play is shit.
Could this work
That's how 3d accelerator cards worked
I don't understand. Why do they need an external connector? Don't they slot into the motherboard?
Because the very early 3d accelerators on PC did not support 2d at all and you had to have separate 2d card and 3d card. 3d cards on PC only worked that way very briefly so I wouldn't blame zoomies not knowing about it.
it did
when 3D accelerators only did 3D, you needed to pass through the signal like this.
this is how scientists were able to make the jump from 30fps to 60fps
the whole computer comes crashing down on the floor because the connections are secured with the screws
I miss DVI.
Why did the garden gnomes have to kill it?
Takes too much space whereas with DisplayPort you can throw 3 of them on the same space that DVI occupied
DisplayPort sucks major ass
Why?
Your mom sucks major ass but I still love her regardless
no that's HDMI, DP rocks!
As someone stuck with a dvi only monitor until 2018 you can fuck off
I used DVI until 2021 because I thought it was newer and better than HDMI
If you was using digital, you was literally having the same quality as HDMI.
The only difference between DVI digital and HDMI is that HDMI has a DRM mode that was cracked to fuck, and audio.
>yeah, it's me! Gigaboomer here. Back in the day we had 3d potentiometers and we had to wire the connectors manually, after that it was just a matter of arranging the drivers in the right order and pray that the capacitors hold the...
SHUT THE FUCK UP NERDS!
>a dark spirit has invaded
I miss SLI
Was it shit or did da jooz try to memory hole it?
Double the price for display sync issues, more heat and only 10% uplift seemed to me like the ultimate garden gnomery
Thanks anon
>I miss thing
>I never used it once but da joos please laugh
Why are you all like this?
Because we live in a world where we are all founding Israel as we speak and we all get more poor by the minute, naturally you start to doubt everything.
>Because I am desparate for attention
we know, it was a rhetorical question
>Schlomo detected
You will never win.
I always win, even when I lose.
That's nice gay, now get in the oven.
SLI could never be good for many reasons but primarily because the only time SLI made sense was when the single fastest graphics card on the market wasn't fast enough for your needs. Only the top 1% of nerds will ever bother with SLI so devs don't optimize for it and then you have retards like
saying it's only 10% uplift when that's not true. SLI if done properly will give like 90-99% boost to fps but that's only if everything works correctly and you're using SLI to its fullest potential which is not always possible due to lack of dev support, driver support, AFR bugs or plethora of other reasons.
So unless you are in top 1% of nerds and you single fastest gpu on the market is not good enough for you then yeah you could say SLI is shit.
>Dark Spirit has in-
Why exactly couldn't they do 2D despite having a video output? What more do you need than some framebuffer that can be manipulated?
A shitload of things.
You needed to support several video modes with tile graphics, interleaved bit manipulation shit and fixed palettes and a shitton of IBM shitty hidden registers etc..
The CGA/EGA/VGA standards were created by IBM after all, and IBM loves shit complicated.
A 3Dfx voodoo card used every single fucking transistor in it for the sole purpose of drawing one pixel of a triangle per clock cycle, regardless of what was on or off.
It was a "hot rod" design with every component finely tuned just for the task, even shit like number of RAM chips was fixed because the texture chip was designed for that number.
I guess that makes sense, but only for a complete 2D package. Surely you could still hypothetically show a Windows desktop through a Voodoo with custom drivers.
Yes you can. but as soon you need MS-DOS anything, the game is over.
i remember getting my first pc, second hand
pentium 2, and had a 2d and 3d card inside, but no passover cable
had to play unreal tournament in software rendering mode or whatever it was called
went to some old computer store to ask for one of those cables, and the guy there said "thats really old, no one uses those anymore, and we dont have them"
this was 2001
You could be a bastard and turn off the monitor, swap the connector and turn it back on when on 3Dfx mode
girls love their VGA cables
It's impressive how many people get this wrong
What are some other hacks to double power easily?
