How does one obtain this power? Like I'm completely aware that this shithole is actively making me dumber, wasting my time but I can't stop coming here.
Having some other form of socialization in your life would probably be huge stepping-stone. I don't have anything else though so I'm stuck here forever.
It depends what you want to do mostly in these games? Only main story with maybe a few substories in between? It wont take much.
Do you want to 100% a game? It will keep you busy. Especially those very minigames that relies on RNG like loot drop chance.
This is what it took me to 100% some of those games but the main story is always around 20-30hrs
The point of yakuza games is how much side content you enjoy and how much you fuck around, but you get to decide that. I ended up going full autismo because i genuinely enjoy (almost) every aspect of them, you mileage may vary
I don't get how people get such massive K1 times unless it's their first game in the series. Did you do the mahjong rank 1 stuff and shogi's exclusive item? Because not doing those on a fresh Legend save I was at only 60 hours. Even if I count my story playthrough to unlock Legend and all of the Climax Battles I don't think I'd be past 80 hours.
Yeah only Yakuza 4 takes 200 hours to get through the main story and a couple side quests, the rest are only 196 hours tops as long as you don't do host club
the longest one is probably a tie between 7 and 5 both of which took me over 50 hours
most of the games are around 40 hours
and yakuza 3 is over 30 hours
keep in mind that's with most of the substories completed and an occasional minigame here and there
My theory is Japanese language isn’t as complex as English (sarcasm or implied meanings are harder to detect) so they have to explain everything to death.
>this character did this >he is this character’s brother >why would character do this? >character did this because of this and he is their brother
Gaiden is like the opposite of a game you should start with. Like it's pretty tethered to 7, so there's lots of gaps in the plot because they've assumed you've played 7. On top of that the story is very tied to 6's ending so you probably should have played that, and I feel like the emotional beats wouldn't really hit if you haven't played the rest of the games up to that point.
I can understand someone not liking Yakuza 7 because of the turn based combat but Lost Judgment is one of the best games RGG has ever made, maybe even the best.
Its a sequel. Sure its a genre change and a new MC but old characters, places, organizations all crop up. They couldn't even stick to their guns with Gaiden and now 8 with Kiryu as an MC again.
Oh no imagine having fun for 200 hours how awful.
No way all 200 of those hours are fun. Lots of static dialogues with barely animated characters for sub stories, lots of the same tired minigames.
>Its a sequel. Sure its a genre change and a new MC but old characters, places, organizations all crop up.
It doesn't matter. It's treated as a reboot. You don't need to know any of the characters to understand the story, you don't need to know any areas to understand the story, the combat is completely different, you're in a brand new area for 90% of the game, the marketing treats it as a reboot, in the west they did the name change with it to function as the first Ichiban game, etc.
>No way all 200 of those hours are fun. Lots of static dialogues with barely animated characters for sub stories, lots of the same tired minigames.
You realize that reading and taking in a story can be fun, right? Would that be enhanced for you if all the characters were dancing around and juggling while they spoke their lines?

>I’m on chapter 3, when does it start?
You can run around towards the end of chapter 4 but pretty much every mechanic is unlocked right around the start of chapter 5.
Yeah, Acceleration is king this time around because there's a ton of circuits that have consecutive sharp turns and drops. You can't really reach max speed consistently anymore because you'll often just fly off the track, so you need a nice balance of being able to go fast on straights and slow down dramatically on turns while not losing all your speed. I'm not too big a fan of it. Also High Speed Batteries got absolutely gutted and they're almost not worth using on any 8-lap circuit.
>Lock on is fucked up in Gaiden, during every fight there will be atleast once where Kiryu facing the wrong way. So you have to release lock on and re-align yourself
The lock on was fine in J and LJ, how could they fuck this up.
Since when and why did he learn to speak pitch perfect Japanese and how the fuck did this voice go down to that level when it normally sounded way higher than that.
>Since when and why did he learn to speak pitch perfect Japanese
Since 2008 and because he needed some fucking work after surviving his fall and erasing his name or whatever the fuck, I don't like the memeing of dead Y3 characters coming back as barmen and weapon shopkeeps
>Kiryu’s “disguise” in Y5 was just not wearing his jacket >Kiryu’s “disguise” in Gaiden is wearing Clark Kent sunglasses
I think he has brain damage from all those punches to the head.
Well, he went from "I'm not going to run away, I'm going to take responsibility for my actions" at the end of Y4 to "waaaah I ran away again because I'm insecure about my family loving me" in Y5, so yes, he does by this point canonically have brain damage. As does Haruka for not putting an end to the nonsense with Park the moment she found out she was the topic of conversation and arguably her actions in the finale (hardly a big deal imo).
He's a 6'1" muscular male in Japan, he sticks out like a sore thumb wherever he goes, he literally has to hide out in a Western country in order to not draw attention towards him.
>18 hours in >story winding down and most side content complete
I'm not ready for it to end...
>Kiryu’s “disguise” in Gaiden is wearing Clark Kent sunglasses
This time it's on Daidoji at least. I don't really get their reasoning for anything >use Glasses Kiryu as their go to guy for every high profile mission they have >somehow it's Kiryu's fault everyone recognizes the single most famous Yakuza of the modern era
Not sure how many hours I've got clocked, but I just unlocked the team stuff for the coliseum and have been working my way through all of the fights. Been using two of the DLC characters to carry two other characters in the team fights to level them up.
>Kiryu's funeral infiltration technique was giving his real name and history to the bouncer and then saying he's somebody else >Kiryu's osaka espionage technique was giving his full name to a guy who just announced he wants to kill the Dragon of Dojima and then saying he's somebody else
Seriously, the achievement list is a joke, save for the normal 1-shot pt. 3 >just launch the ball, bank it, launch it again to hit the ball bro
I shouldn't need an A in Trigonometry to get the plat in a yakuza game
>normal
Stage 1: Aim left side of ramp, full power on bottom right of ball
Stage 2: have to bounce orange ball, try to draw the angle in your mind, low power shot on the center of the ball should work every time
Stage 3: Aim near the middle of the ramp, full power shot on center of ball. Make finetuned adjustments depending on how you missed the ball. If you don't have a few retries, just reset as it's almost impossible to sink this in one try.
What happened to yakuza?, played the ps2 games, then 0, now im about to start 3 but all the footage from the newer games looks nothing like the ones i played, they are way more anime and nothing seems to make sense. Older games were somewhat serious, now i see kiryu with jpop hair and apparently cancer driving a magic devil may cry bike during turn based combat
They have indeed gone too far into "lol so wacky xD" territory.
What's a good entry point for someone who doesn't want to play ancient games?
The games are hardly ancient unless you somehow call PS2 ancient now. I would recommend starting with OG1 and working through release order. Its not as smooth as later entries but plays perfectly fine and 1 is a lot less content bloated than later entries. The main reason I recommend 1 is not only being the first game but also that each entry builds upon the last, story and gameplay wise. Even starting with the prequel in 0 wouldn't be too fair of a start. Lots of little things about the characters, the plot, the setting is lost to newcomers and the game is very content heavy. Plus if you do like the game, then 0 sets you up for disappointment later as you would have to go the earlier entries which would mean a step back in combat.
The second game had an ancient Japanese castle rise from the ground and Kiryu fist fights two tigers as the boss fight there. It was always over the top.
I did like Yakuza but at some point after 6 I just stopped caring at all. Any complaints I see about new games don't mean anything to me because for some reason I have no desire to play them anyway despite never having a moment of "fuck this series, I'm done"
My interest just died with no fanfare whatsoever
Its because deep down we all know they should have actually ended things there. 6 wasn't perfect but it would have been an acceptable ending. Then they could have shifted to Judgment as the replacement.
>they could have shifted to Judgment as the replacement
fuck no
i'd rather have Kiryu for the 40th time rather than "no personality whatsoever" Yagami i would however accept wacky adventures of Kaito and Higashi
Prequel aside for obvious reasons, every single game could've "just ended there"
All the issues are always wrapped up by the end and Kiryu walks towards the sunset hopeful for a new tomorrow, before everything goes to shit in the first 30 minutes of the sequel because the Tojo clan is at it again
No, 5 was the perfect ending. Kiryu reuniting with haruka after the hell he went through was beautiful. It proves that no matter what happened, nothing can sever their bond anymore.
The final fight throughout the tojo hq was also the perfect sendoff for kiryu's saga.
>one off
The Resident Evil tier retard plot in 3 is better than 5, somehow nothing happens in the game in the entire middle and then suddenly you have a giant twist that the dude from the prologue chapter you never ever interact with again after that and you completely forgot about is the big bad behind everything and dies of cancer and his son is the random unremarkable bodyguard, also from the prologue, which you beat up like every henchman and he is then the end boss, for some reason, but doesn't know it himself and says "I honestly don't know what I'm doing here" and somehow it's all related to Majimas ex wife and pop idols... because.
It has the most fun and diverse content out of all the titles but purely from the perspective of the overall plot, nobody bothered really looking over the script before approving it and they were all piss drunk while writing it, or something.
>"I honestly don't know what I'm doing here"
That was honestly the funniest part of 5. Plot so retarded that even the final boss apologizes for it. At least the fight was cool.

Ye, it seemed like they figured they fucked up completely and just threw a self aware line in there that they really had no clue themselves wtf they are doing.
And somehow the head writer of this nonsense was the exact same one who wrote 0, which is essentially flawless in it's plot structure compared to any other game in the franchise.

Did you mistake it with judgment somehow? Y5 was headed by yokoyama

I looked it up again, ye, I confused the writers, the writer of 6 (which also had retarded twists but at least you can summarize it and understand the stakes of it unlike 5) wrote 0 and writes the 8th mainline game.

Yeah, 0, 6 and 7 all have pretty good plots. Almost surprising that they're written by same team as Y4 and 5.
I haven't gotten very far but I don't see how LJ is worse than Judgment.
It has an actual murder mystery while Judgment was mostly "well, I JUST knew you did it" and then yagami simply found another guy who can directly support his theory without him having to think much about it.
A lot of people don't like how Yagami becomes very one-note with his arguments when he has a plethora of other things he can add onto the argument he is making to the main antagonist. Pretty much everything after the midway point is him just beating the same horse on repeat and he doesn't think to bring any of his experience from Judgment to arguing for his points in Lost Judgment.
I guess after reading too much kindaichi I don't really care about what the main character says, he's mostly just a device that bridges the murderer(s) and the victim.
RK's pretty reasonable considering the power vacuum. It wouldn't take much to get the gangs together considering in 4 all of them were being led by a guy who could punch the other leaders harder. If you're talking about the government running them it still works as a part of Public Security since Bando is corrupt enough to allow for murders under his belt without people knowing. The man's willing to blackmail a woman trying to fight against corruption, it's not unbelievable outside of what he tells the other parts of government, but if he's a Daidoji operative I doubt it matters since they'd easily cover stuff up for him.
The thing that makes it goofy is that it's a pretty big fucking deal but ends up as subplot to school bullying. It's good that the story stays focused on what it should be focused on, but you gotta make the things around it lower stakes; what they attempted only works when it feels like there's an actual personal rivalry beyond everything else, like Kazuma vs Ryuho, otherwise you can easily choose to focus on the wrong thing. They certainly did try to set up a rivalry and make the story personal for Yagami, but the execution of everything ends up making the main story even sillier than the school story to me.
There's also an issue with the Yokohama gangs giving zero fucks about an out of town gang rolling up to Ijincho, recruiting people, while kidnapping, torturing, and attempting to kill a civilian. I don't recall there even being a throwaway line attempting to justify that.
While on the subject, another problem people often have is how anti-climactic the conclusion of the court case is.
>but you gotta make the things around it lower stakes
I think they can't really do that anymore as a studio. They've gotten to a point where they have to write a story where you're going against the government, the Japanese underground, or something in between with high stakes otherwise it just seems like a mundane story. LJ's got a civilian story with Kuwana but I don't think they thought that would be hefty enough.
Gaia requires all substories, all cats, all trading cards, all fights at the fighting thing on Park Boulevard, and all 10 bounty targets. Hostesses aren't necessary.
Chaos requires all substories except hostesses and the one slot machine substory in chapter 9 (777 something). You don't need cats, #1 in the ranking fights in Kamurocho and Sotenbori, or the gravure cards.
You should play Dead Souls, specifically Majima's girl. You literally have to pick options that are the polar opposite of what any normal person would say and if they insult her or demean her it raises her hearts because she twists it into a positive thing after he says it.
I am convinced SEGA thinks cabaret clubs are for pretending you're horny Americans. >Let's go to this den full of jaunty big band music where we objectify women who are trying to get us to spend more money on them! Let's est low calorie appetizers and high calorie booze!
>Bullying is.... LE BAD, and getting revenge on bully is... LE BAD TOO >This coming from the guy that beat up people who wronged him in almost every substories
wow, stellar writing
I am probably the only person which favorite game in the franchise is Yakuza 6, simply because of the fact that I started to get fed up with Kamurocho and Sotenbori due to over abundance, so Hiroshima was a nice change, plus it looked better, played smoother and was shorter than the other games. I basically accidentally 100%ed the side stories without even really trying and still had under 30 hours of playtime. They were also all perfectly manageable, meanwhile I got borderline insane with some side stories in 3, 5 and 0 in particular.
Technically 0 might be the best in the series simply because the plot is the most coherent and they strive away from too absurdish twists, but after having to go through massive 50+ hour games, this one was essentially a vacation, despite the retarded plot points of making Haruka the town bicycle and a fucking hidden WW2 super ship.
Haruka got pregnant on the first time also the ship is fine. The secret is more to do with the rampant supercorruption in the Japanese government moreso than the ship itself.
6 is also my favorite game. Best vibes in the entire series and it's got the most busted dropkick and throws in the entire franchise.
12 hours main story, probably another 10 with side stories and mini games.
Aquire a GamePass subscription for a month and play it, it is not really worth 50 bucks, especially since they admittedly threw it together in 6 months on assets from Y7.
the game has 5 chapters and I'm currently in the beginning of chapter 3 >24 hours, so far >far from done with the coliseum >only 1 substory left (most are pretty short, but there are a few long, good ones)
I'm going to guess that I'll be done with it between 30 and 35 hours, which is great, because a lot of the recent games could feel bloated at times
I'm now reminded as to why I half hate pocket circuit
Always either way too slow or you fall off instantly until you get it just right then you feel like a god
Yeah. Kiryu's realization about Haruto already being four and being able to speak and write also got me really bad. I really hope 8 is going to free Kiryu from Daidoji and just lets him go back to his family already.
This franchise's melodrama has always made me chuckle when it tries to be emotional, but this is the one time they chose to ground it and that shit got me. I've always felt like it was wasted potential to not have a slightly bigger side focus on the orphanage, showing all the kids growing up with the player, but given how poorly they've treated Haruka it's probably for the better that they held off until now.
Yeah. Kiryu's realization about Haruto already being four and being able to speak and write also got me really bad. I really hope 8 is going to free Kiryu from Daidoji and just lets him go back to his family already.
>I really hope 8 is going to free Kiryu from Daidoji and just lets him go back to his family already The kids are absoutely showing up in 8, at the very least, since they teased all their designs yet only showed two in full, but given how spiteful the devs can be they might go full retard with them. 8 will probably be the first game I rush the main story in rather than doing all the side content as I go.
The combat is pretty fun but I wish throwing the cigarette was a different button.
Also is Tiger Drop good here or nerfed dogshit like other Dragon Engine games? Haven't got the 3 mill for it yet.
It deals alright damage, but with the weird attack animations, short counter window, high knockback and the headbutt that overrides it once you get hit it's kinda hard to pull off.
where the fuck is the high-rollers' lounge president supposed to be at, so I can get the gold sponsored match? Looked everywhere, especially in the casino's top floor, but there's no sponsor anywhere, only the oil baron fellow
technically, it was Tsuruno, no? Watase had given him all those properties way before this deal.
Gaia requires all substories, all cats, all trading cards, all fights at the fighting thing on Park Boulevard, and all 10 bounty targets. Hostesses aren't necessary.
Chaos requires all substories except hostesses and the one slot machine substory in chapter 9 (777 something). You don't need cats, #1 in the ranking fights in Kamurocho and Sotenbori, or the gravure cards.
thanks, I don't really know what I'm missing from BP1, but I've already done most of that stuff, so it must be something I overlooked. On the other hand, fuck Chaos. I'm not doing the ranking fights in BP2, that shit is super boring
>but I've already done most of that stuff
The stuff I listed is basically all the substory requirements since they're required to complete several substories. Have you talked to Tsukuhara about the cats? Once you turn in 101 I think you have to return to him once more and talk to him for it to complete. Did you also do all 10 bounty fights and then return to the guy? Did you return to the gravure card guy?
Push comes to shove you can also try the hostesses, but since israeliteeL only unlocks via Akiyama on NG+/PA I don't think they count since I fought him in the main story on a NG Hard run. >I'm not doing the ranking fights in BP2, that shit is super boring
I said you don't need them, it's just substories with some exceptions. Just make sure you don't get into a fight before or during the message from the sumo wrestler or you lock yourself out of Sumo Wrestling's style and the substory completion permanently.
>Did you return to the gravure card guy?
you mean one of the brothers, the one that originally introduced the cards to Tatsuya? I don't think I ever talked to him after collecting all of the gravure cards, so I'll try doing that, thanks!
>I wonder if they'll bring it to hawaii for Yakuza 8
would be kino, i heckin love the coliseum
>Spoiler It was still Watase in the end. Tsuruno is the Captain of the clan and acting leader while Watase is in jail, but Tsuruno ran it by Watase before getting the 50 billion worth of deeds so that their plan could go off successfully.
Why does the Yakuza fanbase simp for Kaoru so hard? People get upset when Kiryu shows that his true love is Yumi not some police bitch that left him for American cock.
eBay has some people selling it for $50ish + $16 or higher shipping. I don't know of any Asian stores that aren't selling the Chinese multi-language copy offhand. HeavyArm seems to be HK based as well while YesAsia is the HK version only.
Should I play the Judgement games if the only Yakuza game I liked so far was 0?
Judgement and LJ both look interesting with their detective and stealth elements, and I hear the main story is good, but I don’t know if it’s worth playing since I know who the killer in both games is.
>since I know who the killer in both games is.
Yakuza spoilers mean barely anything. I've been spoiled on basically everything but Kenzan, BP1 (Though there's not much to spoil), BP2, and 5 before I even played the games. In some cases it makes it more fun because you get to play it already knowing who is trying to do stuff and can see the dialogue leading into it.
Judgment and LJ are both close to 0 quality and the Mole barely counts as a twist when the guy is seethingly hostile to Yagami every time they interact even slightly. LJ too though that story has a bit more going on in terms of faction war type shit so knowing who the bully pulper is doesn't matter much
i want to sedate whoever designed the one shot pool challenges, cut their stomach open while they're conscious, gouge their eyes out, stuff their eyes into their mouth, cut their head off, bury their head into their stomach hole, and place it outside of sega hq. i then want to do this to the nagger that decided to make missions that are tied to completing these challenges
If you're talking about the normal difficulty one, if you ain't at the left side of the ramp then hit the ball at close to full power on the bottom right part of the ball, you will always get it in one shot.
The second and third ones are just complete fucking rng though.
>second stage (normal) >hits ball dead center at half strength >yellow ball fucking flies off the ramp completely missing the red ball, somehow wraps back around to hit the white ball
I spent an hour trying to do the 3rd normal challenge before I realized that it was designed by a baboon.
Is the bird's eye view broken for you guys too? It zooms in on the middle of the table and I can't see shit, I literally had to do everything from third person, also if you rotate the camera and then adjust the ball it fucking resets, there's no way that's supposed to be like that.
that's fine but webmrel is definitely busted right? It should be showing me the whole table like in the other games, no? No controls work here to zoom out or something either.
Now imagine, I did the easy challenges without the overhead view.
Time to find out if it's a resolution issue, a Windows scaling issue, or maybe a gaypass version issue, fun!
i want to sedate whoever designed the one shot pool challenges, cut their stomach open while they're conscious, gouge their eyes out, stuff their eyes into their mouth, cut their head off, bury their head into their stomach hole, and place it outside of sega hq. i then want to do this to the nagger that decided to make missions that are tied to completing these challenges
on the plus side, the Hard One Shot challenge is significantly easier than the Normal one lol
oh my god you don't need to hit the fucking orange ball into the red ball to win the course i am having a FUCKING STROKE
this anon's advice is saving me time but the second and third ones are killer. any time i do the second one, it feels completely random. were these tested at all in development?
If you don't have a few retries, just reset as it's almost impossible to sink this in one try.
>low power shot on the center of the ball should work every time
it just doesn't work. no matter what. the goddamn red ball goes over the slope, but then it veers off the side.
Ok, never mind! Same shot, same angle, same power, same positioning, and it works. It just works. And then the third one is done in one go. Good fucking tips anon, major props to ya.

If you as a man were to say your favorite food is pizza, you'd be laughed at or just looked at as some kind of subhuman or manchild... But it's totally okay for a woman to say it cause it just show her inner child of some shit like that.
For fucks sake, just say something a bit more specific like you love chicken soup since it taste really well while it's still hot. You say that to a woman who is into you nd she'll keep that in mind for the future and try to make you some good chicken soup later on to eat if she wants to try and please you.
>as a man >as a woman
anon, you're looking purely at the gender factor and not the nationality factor. Pizza is to Japan what Sushi is to America. They even have horrifying monstrofities known to mankind for pizza like what we do to sushi with cream cheese
>were these tested at all in development?
Have you played baseball, pool, golf, slots, Hostess Maker, or Pocket Circuit in any of the games? The answer is always "No". They do not test their completion list requirements, they very clearly barely touch their minigames, and if they did they would understand how ridiculous some things they add are.
A very simple example to easily bring up that is super recent is the drop rate in Ishin Kiwami paired with a bunch of the unique Seals, particularly the one from the Golden Sneaks, and then the enemies knocking you down on basic hits. They played through multiple QA sessions and saw nothing wrong with either of them when they know that Ishin already had a reputation for its horrendous drop rates and grinding. They played through all of FotNS and saw nothing wrong with the requirements to get a DT to 7 nor the cooldowns.
I love the series so far but I am not fucking about with completion lists. I do as I feel. 100% stories and the rest try them and play a bit the parts I like.
I always do all of the side-quests that involve some kind of story/characters, but for the rest I just do whatever is fun for as long as it remains fun. Never bothered much with the Japanese games/gambling, aside from Judgment which required some mahjong for one of the sidequests.
>knows that almost everyone prefers the original DoD >still shills the DE version
[...]
the og DoD to the latest amon instead
What the fuck is RGG's problem? Shit, even LAD/7's boss battle acknowledged that DE is literally different from THE dragon of dojima style
Gaiden Dragon style is a mix of all his styles. Charged Lights are Beast combo + hyperarmor. Throw and Reversals are from Brawler.
The only one that isn't represented is Rush but that's fine coz Rush sucks.
>Left the hostess shit for last >Really, REALLY want to just not do it >Still going to force myself through all of it and complain about hating it and not having fun the entire time
At least you can skip through most of the cutscenes so it won't take long.
Fucking retarded fatass.

yakuza 1-6: >WHO THE FUCK IS THIS GUY? I'M GONNA BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF HIM!
this game: >OI OI, YOU'RE KIRYU KAZUMA, AREN'T YOU?
No, I'm not Kiry- >YEAH YOU ARE, I'LL PROVE IT BY ATTACKING YOU!
If I must fight, I will. >YOU BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF ME - YOU'RE TOTALLY KIRYU!
Has anyone did any thorough testing of the IW and compared the gameplay with Yakuza 7? I want to know two things. >1. When you're just running around the map and you get into an encounter do your party members lag behind you massively and once you're actually into battle you have to wait for them to run up to you and if you attack before they do do you have to wait for them to run the whole distance to the enemy? >2. After you select your attack and the character is pulling it off can enemies still move around, getting out of the range of your AOE attack before the animation finishes?
Both of these still happen, yes
In 1’s case it’s a bit worse now since if the character is lagged behind and they’re the first one to attack, you can’t get close to the enemy due to the ring system
Man, if Gaiden is what they can do in 6 months, I can't wait to see what Infinite Wealth is after 3 years. Such a pity it's not a brawler but hopefully the combat will be more fun this time.
He has a completely different face, that said this is the yakuza universe where things like korean clones and mirror face exist so that's not much of a barrier
you could probably chalk that up to dragon engine making everyone's face smoother and stuff, Kiryu in 5 compared to Kiryu in 6 also have pretty different faces when compared due to 5's stylization vs how the dragon engine styles them
No, you can draw a line from Y5 to Y6 Kiryu. This is just a completely different face, and it goes beyond the visuals because even in story Kiryu doesn't recognise him either
I only liked the prequel and the game with the new protag where it was a jrpg. I think the rest of the games are bad because I think Kiryu isn't interesting.
They learned from previous games to not blindly kill off characters. I'm sure they're now being ambiguous on how they write characters out in case they do get popular so they can plan something new.
>get your team of 10 >find a battle easy enough that they can solo without your input >just spam that so you can level them while you watch or do something else
I don't think anyone has ever said LAD's music was bad. The only bad thing about it is the grindiness and frankly pretty boring battle mechanics compared to every other JRPG.
Where the fuck is Akiyama?
They quite literally built him up to be one of the first characters to actually seek out what the fuck happened to Kiryu because he didn't believe he was dead. You think he'd be the first to show up in here.
>ruin the magic
Make it so you're locked out of attacking every time you do a full combo for two seconds and you're locked in place only allowed to dodge or block while it happens. They could also easily use Freelancer's moveset for it, they'd just have to muck with it a bit.
They don't have any of the Yakuza 7 cast in the arena, so my guess is they didn't want to have it where Ichiban is currently doing his story while also participating in the arena before ever meeting Joryu. That's also probably why they have the Judgment characters present, since this game takes place between Yakuza 6 and 7 and during Yakuza 7, so they have a bit more freedom when it comes to being able to move anywhere.
How combat capable are the various party members in 7? It's clear Ichiban, Han, and Zhao are all actually competent fighters but it's hard to gauge the other three (Adachi, Nanba, and Saeko. Eri doesn't count since she doesn't appear in any of the main game.) I know that Ichiban is doing most of the fighting himself outside of his schizo delusions.
Adachi was a proper detective that got demoted to DMV, so he knows how to fight
Nanba read a book about fighting with a cane
Saeko does boxing excercises
Han explicitly says he's not as good as the real deal so he's weaker then the fight in 6 and Zhao is early game boss level. Adachi and Namba probably just get the odd punch in while Saeko cheers them on.
Adachi worked previously as a detective and has considerable bulk, so I'd say he's pretty good at fighting too. His fighting style would be a bit more clean than a traditional street fight though.
Nanba worked as a reporter and only has the homeless act as a disguise, but he doesn't seem like he's that capable at fighting.
Saeko could probably hold her own, but isn't strong enough to go around picking fights.
Gaiden reminded me of how funny the yakuza dissolution scene is where you have saeko lining up alongside characters like Majima and Saejima. Like what's she going to do? Hit those yakuza with her handbag?
>Hit those yakuza with her handbag?
I doubt she even does that, she probably just cheers the other guys on and tells them to look out if someone is attack them. At most she might be able to push someone trying to attack her away or kick him in the nuts or something.
Nah, she does actually keep one of the secret agents down on the ground by herself in the finale so she very clearly is able to do something enough to defend herself, but who knows if that's just luck or what on her part.
Ichiban is versed in street fighting and is mentally unstable.
Adachi is a trained police officer so at the very least he knows CQC enough to defend himself somewhat.
Nanba is doing nothing in the fights outside of maybe smacking people away with his umbrella as he admitted in Sawashiro 2 he had only seen someone fight like that in magazines and Sawashiro wasn't really doing anything crazy outside of using a cane.
Saeko does boxercizing which is basically glorified yoga, otherwise she's very likely just swatting people away with her purse. She's just a random civvy who works at a bar.
Eri isn't a party member and even if she was she's a random civvy who works at a desk, she does nothing.
Han is a trained hitman even if he's a body double.
Zhao outright admits he learned how to use a sword and fight as part of his duties to leading the Liumang.
So basically Ichiban, Han, and Zhao are doing most of the fighting while Adachi has their back while Nanba and Saeko are just doing their best to stay alive/defend themselves?
Pretty much. Nanba and Saeko are essentially cheerleaders while everyone else does the fighting. Also explains why they're the only mages with Ichiban being the Hero so he obviously is magically inclined.

Nanba fights like a weaker version of Sawashiro (he mentions he uses the umbrella in fights because he studied a martial art book on using weapons) while Saeko I'm assuming just uses some sort of self defense style.

He just says he uses it because the book gave him an idea, so he's basically just winging it. I don't think he actually knows what he's doing at all.
Enjoying Gaiden and was thinking of 100% it but have second thoughts since I don't actually own it cause of Game Pass.
People seem to agree that 6 is pretty easy to 100% and I could go for some more Kiryu.
Anything likely to drive me crazy in that? Looks like grinding out 100 clan wins is the worst offender.
6 is not easy to 100% since you need to win 31 rounds of Puyo Puyo in a row. In addition to that if you want to get to level 10 in Spear Fishing getting from 8 to 10 is like four hours straight of running Dragon's Den.
Unless you're talking about platinuming/all achievementsing it, then it's a joke, it's one of the easiest. The worst is just 100 Clan Creator battles and grinding out all the Tech EXP from Sushi Gin food combos for like two or three hours.

Do you mean 100% or just Platinum? The clan shit is probably the worst part (need to do it for Platinum too) but Puyo Puyo is extremely hard, probably one of the hardest minigames in the series even with frog stacking, and you also have to grind out the spear fishing minigame which takes a few hours. I think you only have to do 50% of the completion list for the Platinum. I went for 100% and it took 77 hours according to Steam.
Yeah, meant Platinuming it. It is interesting to know about Puyo though. It's neat to look into things and see people complain the hardest things about platinuming Yakuza 0 to bed getting a high score in Fantasy Zone. I'll reinstall 6 on Steam and see how I'm feeling.
I was talking about PC, gamepass is on pc and saves are generally the same format as steam
It is? Felt like last time I checked it was locked down. Don't think I'd want a save that just pops all the achievements when I'm at like 10 minutes of play on a Steam version

The game files are often locked down but saves are stored separately and usually in the same format as steam

I did every Ayame mission except golden balls and Amon because that requires Colosseum grinding. I'm calling it a day there, if I care, I'll buy it on Steam with the DLC fighters once it's cheap and replay it there as I imagine the three of them (mainly Saejima) make it a fuck ton faster.
>I don't actually own it cause of Game Pass.
is there not enough else on game pass to warrant another month?
Persona 5 Tactics next week but I just refuse to go full autist if I don't "own" a game.
6 isn't too bad to platinum. The worst part is needing to beat the game twice to get the Legend achievement and maxing all stats takes a while because of the annoying XP system.
>The worst part is needing to beat the game twice to get the Legend achievement
Reload a save before the final boss and swap the difficulty to Legend, then beat him again. You should always have two saves bare minimum because of the autosaving anyway.
On the bright side, getting clan wins is helpful for farming money since it's pretty much the fastest way to get any sizeable amount of money in the game. If you're an NJPW fan, it's also got some cool cameos.
There has literally been a few people on this very board who have said they're playing Gaiden as their first entry into the franchise. They always have to think of newcomers.
All games now have to assume that it's some secondary's first time playing the series
There has literally been a few people on this very board who have said they're playing Gaiden as their first entry into the franchise. They always have to think of newcomers.
I don't really see it that way. It's more of a refresher or a reminder since 7 was years ago. If they had to account for new players it would have been quite a bit more in depth than that
>doc brown motherfucker from 3-5 really took kiryu's memories and built a bunch of robots that fight like the previous games antagonists >also the robo amon before the real amon fight
knew we shouldn't have trusted the guy
>Doc Brown secretly implanted a brain chip into Kiryu's mind to take all his memories and convert them into fighting data >He knows the secret of Onomichi but is too obsessed with getting data to ever spread it around
Does any game in the series have good boss design? Just finished Judgement, and while the game is great overall, these infinite superarmor poiseblobs were atrocious.
Genuinely spectacular, my biggest criticisms are that the FMV Cabaret is hilariously awkward and the cosmetic system is pretty undercooked, and those are "who gives a fuck" level problems.

There is absolutely no way in hell you can spin this as a good thing. She's absolutely fucking retarded for not wanting to live and just assuming the worst that she'd somehow end up disabled instead of pulling through.
According to the credits the story of Gaiden was mostly handled by Furuta (the judgment writer.) So I almost wonder if they're retiring Judgment and will continue to make Gaiden games as their action series, like Gaiden seems to be setting up plot hooks that it doesn't look like 8 will resolve.
Eh. The fact that Kaito shows up and name drops Yagami Detective agency makes me think they're not done with that cast yet. Judgment 3 is likely next on the list after Infinite Wealth is out.
The way I see it, the Judgment games were Nagoshi passions projects that Yokoyama had no creative input on, we've already seen Judgment being pushed to the side now that Yokoyama is in charge, like when they had that RGG announcement stream and instead of announcing the Judgment pc ports there they decided to just relegate it to a twitter post announcing it a day later. And being in a side quest doesn't mean much, like they're basically irrelevant as far as the main story is concerned.
I really liked the Judgment games, I just don't see them having a future at the current RGG now that Nagoshi is gone.
>And being in a side quest doesn't mean much, like they're basically irrelevant as far as the main story is concerned.
This is what makes me think Judgment is coming back though. If they didn't have any intention of bringing the series back but still wanted to use the characters then they would have incorporated them into the main story and cemented them as proper Yakuza characters. If they had big focus in the actual story then that would have been the death knell to me
No, by nature of them being substory characters, it's clear that the division between the two series no longer exists and no longer necessitates their existence. A big point Nagoshi made when talking about Judgement was that the separation and distinction from Yakuza was what made the series stand on its own and combining the two in any form would take away from it.
no, he was worried Yakuza characters would overshadow the new cast but that is clearly not a problem anymore since most people love the new crew and sales were strong.

The side quest in Gaiden makes Kaito and Higashi look bumbling and ineffective (at least Kaito fights pretty hard)
He said he didn't want the Yakuza characters overshadowing their own story.
https://nichegamer.com/toshihiro-nagoshi-interview-creating-judgment-remembering-yakuza-and-focusing-on-japan/ >Nagoshi: We know that so many fans really love the characters from the Yakuza series, so promotion-wise, it might have been great if we could– if Kazuma or Majima could make appearances in general. People would really love to see that. >Then, we also felt like the Yakuza series has a totally different tone where there’s realism but also it kind of has over the top violence and has a fantastical element to it. Merging the Yakuza world with the Judgement world didn’t really seem right, so we didn’t go that route.
>Niche Gamer: So you decided to take a step back from the larger than life Yakuza characters? >Nagoshi: The Yakuza series has some really unique characters that have big personalities, and are almost like superhuman in a way as well. We know that fans really love that too. We wanted to add a more human vulnerability almost to the characters in Judgement, and so we hope that fans can take a different perspective and enjoy them in a different way than they have.
The side quest in Gaiden makes Kaito and Higashi look bumbling and ineffective (at least Kaito fights pretty hard)
I mean, that's exactly what they both are. Kaito was basically written like Yagami in The Kaito Files and it's extremely jarring because he's solving things he shouldn't be. He's supposed to be the guy who suggests boneheaded and nonsensical things that couldn't possibly be real but might be, not the guy who can read subtext and understand the deeper meanings behind everything. He's not dumb but he's certainly not super analytical. He's pretty much muscle and there for minor things.
I don't know. I view the whole side quest as a wink. Kaito says they're planning on expanding into Sotenbori, but decides at the end of the side quest that they're putting it on hold for now, but it doesn't mean it won't happen in the future.
It would also be insane to pass on the chance to do a Detective game in Hawaii.
I'd be fine with Gaiden games since there's tons of stuff they can easily explore without needing to tie them to anything else. >What happened to Tanimura after 4?
You can even have a bit where he couldn't answer his phone to fight Amon because he was kidnapped or something and explain why he hasn't been around for Little Asia. >What has Shinada been doing in between banging Milky and hanging out with Takasugi? >Akiyama's Sky Finance reopening adventures. >Daigo's Security Firm Manager. >Tatsuya's New Vegas boxing life. >Tsukumo and Sugiura's life at Yokohama 99. >RGGO's main story but an actual game instead of this.
Gives them tons of time to get the whole Kimura situation settled and gives tons of small games they can do for like $40.
Yeah, if this is the kind of quality I can expect from a budget side game, then I'd love to have more. The Yakuza cast has so many angles they could explore with different protagonists.
So, if you're SO CONCERNED with Kiryu's voice matching his character in terms of culture, why are you not listening to the JAPANESE ACTOR in JAPANESE LANGUAGE?
Checkmate, atheists.
So the bit about Kiryu having to abide by Daidoji restrictions when the game introduced the Yakuza style was just an excuse to have fuck all heat moves then?
I think the lack of heat moves is more of a balance decision, like heat moves are one of the easiest things to copy and paste which is why there's heat moves which are still identical to the ones from the ps3 games.
I miss the brutal heat moves from Y5, like the face grating one. It's like they went "you know what, this is a bit much" and then removed it right after
Gaiden is a soft reboot for Kiryu, not a setup for a conclusion like some people thought it would be. Ichiban is going to retire after 8 and it will be Kiryu's series AGAIN
I think some people are really jumping the gun and thinking that Infinite Wealth isn't going to give Kiryu some level of closure, just because the leaked OST doesn't have anything that sounds like a Daidoji track.
we got the only closure he needed for the orphanage, knowing what the kids are all doing and that they're living by his example. Gaiden's entire ending is just closing the door on the plot points of the previous games and rebooting Kiryu as a character, which is also why he has a drastically different design now.
It will probably give some closure for Kiryu but that doesn't mean anything considering Kiryu is constantly given closure only for him to come back right after. Gaiden really feels like it's setting up a new status quo after Y7 pretty much tore down the old one
I think it's possible that Ichiban might get some kind of real time upgrade, but I think they'll probably stick with the RPG formula for a while longer.
There's a lot of bizarre omissions in terms of clothing. No 1-6 suit, no 0 suit, no 3 shirt, no white pants options at all, etc. I would have also liked Ryuji's coat but that one's at least understandable
>and never bring him back?
It turns out that Beautiful Eyes used CIA technology after finding out about Jingweon's Korean body doubles to create a body double for Kiryu just in case something dangerous was going to happen. The CIA body double was the one that died after Kiryu was knocked out.
>we groomed a man for years to become another man only to transplant the orginal man's cancerous tumor into the body double so the original man can live the rest of his life in peace with his family
Too stupid or not enough?
>we groomed a man for years to become another man only to transplant the orginal man's cancerous tumor into the body double so the original man can live the rest of his life in peace with his family
Too stupid or not enough?
Then the series is over. And I'll curse RGG for their retarded decisions till the day I die. >no Daigo Tojo civil war with high stakes and real fatalities where he can reforge HIS Tojo Clan in fire >no shitting on one of Nishiki's old footmen (in another family now) for insulting your kyoudai's memory >no Haruka high school spinoff (complete with Elektra complex) >no angsty Daigo-centric game where he and his mother reconcile >no cool shit because convoluted plots and ruining characters for momentary payoff is a good idea to them
I will never forgive the Japanese!
Yakuza has always modeled real life's happenings though, and the Yakuza is dead and buried in modern Japan. The game's weak and pathetic clans are probably more powerful than the real ones at this point.
Unless the game switches to foreign gangs and the new youth gangs (as shown in Judgment), there is no more Yakuza for the game to follow
I wonder if that's part of the reason for calling it Like a Dragon in English now, the games are getting less and less about the Yakuza which is increasingly irrelevant in Japan
Could be because if they make another spinoff with yakuza characters in the future, it would be weird calling them yakuza when the story has nothing to do with yakuza.
I wonder if that's part of the reason for calling it Like a Dragon in English now, the games are getting less and less about the Yakuza which is increasingly irrelevant in Japan
>Yakuza are irrelevant now >new youth gangs
...Crows inspired RGG game?
The events of 2 took influence from a proper Yakuza war, but it was pretty watered down to the simple "Omi vs Tojo" thing and its true scope of violence wasn't displayed. Just one major hit. And besides, I want to see Daigo get the respect he deserves and a satisfying conflict complete with the car bombs, shootings, full on street rumbles over turf and influence as he restores the Tojo and moulds it into a new clan that's fit for the modern age.
Something like that but with more physical presence because of course, it wouldn't be a Yakuza game without Yakuza goons roaming the streets. Like a last hurrah that stabilises the criminal underworld before the law clamps down on them like irl and they're limited in their scope.
They can only depict surface level of the actual yakuza world. Not only it would anger the real yakuza (that was early 00s mind you), the games might also come off as glorifying their irl crime.
It never meant they couldn't have done it again for 6 or 7, which is why I'm annoyed because there's so much potential for really cool stuff to be done but they either don't have the brains to see it or the balls to do it. RGG plays their hand too early, like with 6, which feels like it should have been at least two more games down the line than it was, especially right after 5.
They can only depict surface level of the actual yakuza world. Not only it would anger the real yakuza (that was early 00s mind you), the games might also come off as glorifying their irl crime.
Do you think they'll kill kiryu off after the end of gaiden? It's clearly a new beginning for kiryu, they won't kill him.
Kuroda takaya also never shows any disinterest in more sequels.
So what's the best way to level all of the fighters for the coliseum? I'm using Kaito and Higashi as well as the fat hammer guy and the wrestler. I just wanna make money to buy all of these upgrades and fighting in the arena seems like the best way.
For me it was >that one solo plat that gives 3.6mil for S rank >mix of ExHeat + Stance + Triangle + Tiger Drop >get to 10mil >do the gambling match to double it
Doable basically as soon as you unlock the plat matches?
Find an easy 10 fighter level that your fighters can solo. The game is nice enough to push you back to the select screen after the fight so you don't have to anything aside from mashing a to get back into it, so you can mindlessly do that while you watch something else or if you're on pc you could even set up an autoclicker and afk it
I unironically want a parry system, fuck these hyper armor bosses that turtle like crazy or just "wait till they do anime shit, get some hits in, then wait again". The pacing of fights seems fucked after 5 when they swapped engines and started doing style swapping
Have you tried hitting with a charged finisher? It does as much as a tiger drop without having to even try, faster than waiting for enemies to attack you. Tiger drop's pointless.
Tiger Drop singlehandedly solved the issue I had with the boss and miniboss type enemies. Whereas before, I'd be dancing around them to land a few hits here and there, now I can just ragdoll them the fuck away from me and watch their health bars deplete. It may not be the delete button it was in prior games but it still wrecks shit even with my unoptimized gear and only 2 of the second tier of damage upgrades.
5 is when the swapped engines and started giving every boss the ability to turn around mid combo. If anything Ishin-K1 are more lenient, and dragon engine has EX heat as your own anime turn steal
oh shit, I thought we were getting another hokey side story where we see the paranormal stuff as the protagonist walks away (I love those btw) so this took me by surprise
Kiryu is government lap dog now and has to fuck up Omi members that would stop Watase from disbanding the Omi alliance. It's a side story so nothing critical happens aside from the last few cutscenes setting up IW.
It pretty much takes place simultaneously to 7, like near the start of the game you're in Yokohama at the homeless camp and they're like "there's this guy who got shot back in that tent, a nurse is currently taking care of him" and the climax of the game takes place at the dissolution scene in the omi headquarters.
>just one big filler side story to set up the next game

Yeah but you won't need to know of them to get them in Gaiden, not like Gaiden was depending on a previous game to explain them.

Do people honestly use Tiger Drop in LaDG? It is god awful compared to how it's been in the past, and with the way everyone is hyping it up despite that I'm convinced this is just epic tiger drop meme shit.
>don't post in yakuza threads
i would love to start playing yakuza but it takes like 200 hours just to beat every game
drop Ganker browsing for a year and u get 500 extra hours u cuckboi
he's not lying, for anyone complaining about playtime stop fucking coming here
fucking hell you're right what the FUCK am i doing with my life
How does one obtain this power? Like I'm completely aware that this shithole is actively making me dumber, wasting my time but I can't stop coming here.
Having some other form of socialization in your life would probably be huge stepping-stone. I don't have anything else though so I'm stuck here forever.
Not true. Only like 3 games in the series are over 100 hours to beat, the others are more like 30-50
so it doesnt take 200 hours to beat all, it takes 400+?
depends how much side stuff you want to do, 90% of the content in Yakuza games is optional
Even if I count my story playthrough to unlock Legend and all of the Climax Battles I don't think I'd be past 80 hours.
basato
>K2 faster than K1
did you get hustled at pool for 30 hours or something
just like me mahjong, simple as
spent a ton of time grinding the arena to 100% all the weapons as well
Yeah only Yakuza 4 takes 200 hours to get through the main story and a couple side quests, the rest are only 196 hours tops as long as you don't do host club
only 5 and 0, the others range from 20-80 hours depending on if you're going for platinum trophy
Oh no imagine having fun for 200 hours how awful.
the longest one is probably a tie between 7 and 5 both of which took me over 50 hours
most of the games are around 40 hours
and yakuza 3 is over 30 hours
keep in mind that's with most of the substories completed and an occasional minigame here and there
i beat 0 in like 80. didn't 100% it yet but i am close
eh... only if you want to 100% every single game. Sure it's an achievement, but do you really want to invest your time?
I’ve platinum’d all the games most of them are around 100 hours except 0 took me 130 hours and 5 took 160 hours.
Takes like 20 hours each if you only do the main story
My theory is Japanese language isn’t as complex as English (sarcasm or implied meanings are harder to detect) so they have to explain everything to death.
>this character did this
>he is this character’s brother
>why would character do this?
>character did this because of this and he is their brother
Its not less complex, its highly contextual
It's not less complex but a bit more rigid and less precise. To be fair english has a lot of homophones and homonyms
Just start with gaiden. You’ll be ok
200 hours is overkill
Most I had was 90 hours on yakuza 5, but that was because I went for the platinum trophy
The others were around 60-70
they each take about 20 hours or so, IF you're doing just the main campaign.
Time doesn't matter when you're enjoying the game.
I've beaten every game and I can't fucking stand Yakuza .
I remember this being posted on /gif/ for like a handful of weeks couple of years ago and then nothing.
Whole threads worth
You're not a Yakuza fan if you like any of the games after judgement 1
I can understand someone not liking Yakuza 7 because of the turn based combat but Lost Judgment is one of the best games RGG has ever made, maybe even the best.
Combat wise yeah, otherwise its inferior to Judgment 1
Not just combat, everything in LJ is better. The only thing Judgment did better was the main story.
today is a diamond is the actual best song in the franchise
Factually true. I really like Truehearted Samurai too.
Why yes I am fond of japanese organized crime groups how could you tell
Haruka baby-making seggs
I'm in it for the memes and existential depression.
>Kiryu fakes his death so he can be a cuck slave to the deep state
>Ichiban goes to Hawaii to have wacky adventures
What is going on with this series? It needs a reboot or something.
No. They need to end the series they're just milking a starved cow at this point
Aren't RGG doing a new IP? End LaD and do something fresh with the new series.
if it's still fun and people still like it, why stop?
>It needs a reboot
Its a sequel. Sure its a genre change and a new MC but old characters, places, organizations all crop up. They couldn't even stick to their guns with Gaiden and now 8 with Kiryu as an MC again.
Would that be enhanced for you if all the characters were dancing around and juggling while they spoke their lines?
you are the kind of retarded homosexual who thinks VNs are vidya right?
lmaoo!!
I like how the game basically revolves around the true heart of organized crime: To protect whores.
It's a soft reboot, dummy
>0fags will never know the pleasure of deflowering Haruka's sweet dicky
I sat through all of Yakuza 5 fine, but 7’s cutscenes are putting me to sleep. I’m on chapter 3, when does it start?
>I’m on chapter 3, when does it start?
You can run around towards the end of chapter 4 but pretty much every mechanic is unlocked right around the start of chapter 5.
it doesn't. there is a reason they're bringing kiryu back. 7's characters are soulless.
The Grandmaster Course is gonna drive me to look up cheats. God, I hate Pocket Circuit.
I'm getting filtered at the Rookie course. I guess I need more acceleration? My car slows down from 15 to 8 and eventually I get immobilized
The lock on was fine in J and LJ, how could they fuck this up.
minebros... is there a chance?
it's fucking Andre Richardson
Andre who? It's clearly Wesker.
It's clear Turf Master guy
Since when and why did he learn to speak pitch perfect Japanese and how the fuck did this voice go down to that level when it normally sounded way higher than that.
>Since when and why did he learn to speak pitch perfect Japanese
Since 2008 and because he needed some fucking work after surviving his fall and erasing his name or whatever the fuck, I don't like the memeing of dead Y3 characters coming back as barmen and weapon shopkeeps
>Yakuza 3: nobody actually died
Does being part of Black Monday make you immune to falling damage because if not there is no way Mine is dead either.
YONG OUT! (of a job)
what if I don't like Yakuza, but I am akin to a dragon in some respects?
>Kiryu’s “disguise” in Y5 was just not wearing his jacket
>Kiryu’s “disguise” in Gaiden is wearing Clark Kent sunglasses
Yes, now Yagami is a true master of disguise.
Nice Dracula Gottfreid cosplay.
>18 hours in
>story winding down and most side content complete
I'm not ready for it to end...
>Kiryu’s “disguise” in Gaiden is wearing Clark Kent sunglasses
This time it's on Daidoji at least. I don't really get their reasoning for anything
>use Glasses Kiryu as their go to guy for every high profile mission they have
>somehow it's Kiryu's fault everyone recognizes the single most famous Yakuza of the modern era
i'm 18 hours in and just started ch4. i also have barely done coliseum
Not sure how many hours I've got clocked, but I just unlocked the team stuff for the coliseum and have been working my way through all of the fights. Been using two of the DLC characters to carry two other characters in the team fights to level them up.
>Kiryu's funeral infiltration technique was giving his real name and history to the bouncer and then saying he's somebody else
>Kiryu's osaka espionage technique was giving his full name to a guy who just announced he wants to kill the Dragon of Dojima and then saying he's somebody else
Anon, this is the same goddamn world where an ex-lawyer could simply put on a 3-piece suit and it counts as a picture perfect disguise.
What's a good entry point for someone who doesn't want to play ancient games?
How the fuck do I do one shot challenge pool with any sort of consistency
Seriously, the achievement list is a joke, save for the normal 1-shot pt. 3
>just launch the ball, bank it, launch it again to hit the ball bro
I shouldn't need an A in Trigonometry to get the plat in a yakuza game
if you're stuck on Normal, see
I did eventually do it after enough tries thankfully
it's still stupid
What happened to yakuza?, played the ps2 games, then 0, now im about to start 3 but all the footage from the newer games looks nothing like the ones i played, they are way more anime and nothing seems to make sense. Older games were somewhat serious, now i see kiryu with jpop hair and apparently cancer driving a magic devil may cry bike during turn based combat
If you're talking about the super wacky stuff with Ichiban's games, events like that are canonically just that character's imagination
They have indeed gone too far into "lol so wacky xD" territory.
Then they could have shifted to Judgment as the replacement.
>they could have shifted to Judgment as the replacement
fuck no
i'd rather have Kiryu for the 40th time rather than "no personality whatsoever" Yagami
i would however accept wacky adventures of Kaito and Higashi
Prequel aside for obvious reasons, every single game could've "just ended there"
All the issues are always wrapped up by the end and Kiryu walks towards the sunset hopeful for a new tomorrow, before everything goes to shit in the first 30 minutes of the sequel because the Tojo clan is at it again
>Then they could have shifted to Judgment as the replacement
That also means absolutely nothing to me
Hell no. Judgment is sovlless compared to Yakuza.
No, 5 was the perfect ending. Kiryu reuniting with haruka after the hell he went through was beautiful. It proves that no matter what happened, nothing can sever their bond anymore.
The final fight throughout the tojo hq was also the perfect sendoff for kiryu's saga.
Yakuza 5 has one of the worst plots after 4. it would've been a travesty to end it there.
at least kiryu wont end up being miserable for life
>one off
The Resident Evil tier retard plot in 3 is better than 5, somehow nothing happens in the game in the entire middle and then suddenly you have a giant twist that the dude from the prologue chapter you never ever interact with again after that and you completely forgot about is the big bad behind everything and dies of cancer and his son is the random unremarkable bodyguard, also from the prologue, which you beat up like every henchman and he is then the end boss, for some reason, but doesn't know it himself and says "I honestly don't know what I'm doing here" and somehow it's all related to Majimas ex wife and pop idols...
Guess I'm not a real fan then.
While Yagami arguing like a 5 year old whenever Kuwana is on screen is a big issue, I think RK is a much bigger one.
Sorry, not in 4, I mean in BP1.
LJ's got a civilian story with Kuwana but I don't think they thought that would be hefty enough.
how do you get the secret bosses of BP1 and 2 to appear? I've found nothing online regarding them
Gaia requires all substories, all cats, all trading cards, all fights at the fighting thing on Park Boulevard, and all 10 bounty targets. Hostesses aren't necessary.
Chaos requires all substories except hostesses and the one slot machine substory in chapter 9 (777 something). You don't need cats, #1 in the ranking fights in Kamurocho and Sotenbori, or the gravure cards.
I know it's japanese humor but it's weird to see yagami that worked up against kuwana. He's just some guy.
The anti-bullying message is shoved down the player’s throat way too hard.
he looks like a fucking lizard
>being polite gets you nothing
>telling her "you have huge boobs" maxes the heart meter
Cabaret makes no fucking sense
>Cabaret makes no fucking sense
Just like women
You should play Dead Souls, specifically Majima's girl. You literally have to pick options that are the polar opposite of what any normal person would say and if they insult her or demean her it raises her hearts because she twists it into a positive thing after he says it.
I am convinced SEGA thinks cabaret clubs are for pretending you're horny Americans.
>Let's go to this den full of jaunty big band music where we objectify women who are trying to get us to spend more money on them! Let's est low calorie appetizers and high calorie booze!
>Bullying is.... LE BAD, and getting revenge on bully is... LE BAD TOO
>This coming from the guy that beat up people who wronged him in almost every substories
wow, stellar writing
Yagami never attacked first, they were all self defense
Just finished Gaiden. Where did Kiryu go between 2020 and 2023? He said Hawaii would be his last goal.
just admit you're too retarded to understand soap opera
How long's the Gaiden? $50 seems like a lot for a sidestory.
12 hours main story, probably another 10 with side stories and mini games.
Aquire a GamePass subscription for a month and play it, it is not really worth 50 bucks, especially since they admittedly threw it together in 6 months on assets from Y7.
good idea. I didn't even realize it was so cheap. Hopefully this game's worth a dollar at least.
the game has 5 chapters and I'm currently in the beginning of chapter 3
>24 hours, so far
>far from done with the coliseum
>only 1 substory left (most are pretty short, but there are a few long, good ones)
I'm going to guess that I'll be done with it between 30 and 35 hours, which is great, because a lot of the recent games could feel bloated at times
I'm now reminded as to why I half hate pocket circuit
Always either way too slow or you fall off instantly until you get it just right then you feel like a god
Or you just look up the guide on the Internet how to upgrade your pocket circuit car for each race, like everyone else.
Yeah I should've added 'until you give up after 50 tries' at the end there
That was a thing in Lost Judgment as well
Zoomzoom
>Amon heals
Why?
To piss (You) the player off.
I figured you have to activate EX Heat against it and ended up killing the entire second phase in like 3 seconds on Hard.
>The final scene with Kiryu watching the hidden camera footage
That fucked me up good
Yeah. Kiryu's realization about Haruto already being four and being able to speak and write also got me really bad. I really hope 8 is going to free Kiryu from Daidoji and just lets him go back to his family already.
The video footage was already very sad but that drawing would make anyone cry in his situation
>I really hope 8 is going to free Kiryu from Daidoji and just lets him go back to his family already
The kids are absoutely showing up in 8, at the very least, since they teased all their designs yet only showed two in full, but given how spiteful the devs can be they might go full retard with them.
Nerfed dogshit.
It deals alright damage, but with the weird attack animations, short counter window, high knockback and the headbutt that overrides it once you get hit it's kinda hard to pull off.
Yagami has a good Tiger Drop.
No point in tiger drop when ex boost melts hp like crazy
where the fuck is the high-rollers' lounge president supposed to be at, so I can get the gold sponsored match? Looked everywhere, especially in the casino's top floor, but there's no sponsor anywhere, only the oil baron fellow
he's sat at a table near the bar in the vip lounge, should trigger the cutscene when you walk near him
i think the sponsor in the vip lounge is for the platinum sponsored match, since you need to complete all gold matches first
Talk to the lady in the VIP pool.
christ, just triggered the event, thanks
I was seriously confused what it meant by high-rollers, didnt think it would be in the VIP lounge as well.
I love RGG games, simple as.
>Paid 50 Billions to save Kiryu's life
This man did more for Kiryu than anyone in his life combined
Fuck your spoilers bitch
>doesnt play the game yet
>click on the game's thread in 4chin
>ahhhhhhhhh why is there spoiler save me pls
tbh after the dissolution the land deeds would just cause another war to break out so it was probably better to get rid of them anyways
It was 50 million. Tachibana spent 1 billion on him in 0.
technically, it was Tsuruno, no? Watase had given him all those properties way before this deal.
thanks, I don't really know what I'm missing from BP1, but I've already done most of that stuff, so it must be something I overlooked.
I don't think I ever talked to him after collecting all of the gravure cards, so I'll try doing that, thanks!
>they replaced Skywalker with Cloudjogger
heh
Yeah, he wants to see a complete set of each girl's cards. Each one you get counts as a completed substory when shown to him.
>Spoiler
It was still Watase in the end. Tsuruno is the Captain of the clan and acting leader while Watase is in jail, but Tsuruno ran it by Watase before getting the 50 billion worth of deeds so that their plan could go off successfully.
Hey a girlboss who is charming and not infuriating. It literally IS okay when Japan does it
This franchise disrespects adult women for almost 20 years, I'll give it a pass
Why does the Yakuza fanbase simp for Kaoru so hard? People get upset when Kiryu shows that his true love is Yumi not some police bitch that left him for American cock.
No one except redditors care about Kaoru. The only female character that matters is Haruka.
>love interest that actually is actively involved in the plot vs a woman with like 20 minutes of screentime at best
>my copy from asia still hasnt shipped
>coping with a chinese cover
>start seeing people post english covers online from other local retailers
how the FUCK do I buy a PHYSICAL of GAIDEN in ENGLISH god dAMN IT
>physical
It's 2023 bro
yes i dont purchase digital games
Singapore is the only one that got English covers. P-A is from Hong Kong.
and how does a nigga from america finna cop a copy? cancel my p-a order right quick
eBay has some people selling it for $50ish + $16 or higher shipping. I don't know of any Asian stores that aren't selling the Chinese multi-language copy offhand. HeavyArm seems to be HK based as well while YesAsia is the HK version only.
YOUR SELFISH DEED
IS NOT FREEDOM
Judgment has no "detective" elements. All the detective work is spoonfed to you. It's basically a Yakuza game with some shit tailing missions.
I spent an hour trying to do the 3rd normal challenge before I realized that it was designed by a baboon.
>does first one in one shot
>does second one in eight shots
>reset
>can't do first one at all now
death is too good for these subhuman madmen
If you're talking about the normal difficulty one, if you ain't at the left side of the ramp then hit the ball at close to full power on the bottom right part of the ball, you will always get it in one shot.
The second and third ones are just complete fucking rng though.
>second stage (normal)
>hits ball dead center at half strength
>yellow ball fucking flies off the ramp completely missing the red ball, somehow wraps back around to hit the white ball
Is the bird's eye view broken for you guys too? It zooms in on the middle of the table and I can't see shit, I literally had to do everything from third person, also if you rotate the camera and then adjust the ball it fucking resets, there's no way that's supposed to be like that.
>also if you rotate the camera and then adjust the ball it fucking resets
Yeah, I think that's intentional lol
that's fine but webmrel is definitely busted right? It should be showing me the whole table like in the other games, no? No controls work here to zoom out or something either.
Yeah that's bugged. Mine shows way more than that.
Now imagine, I did the easy challenges without the overhead view.
Time to find out if it's a resolution issue, a Windows scaling issue, or maybe a gaypass version issue, fun!
OH MY FUCKING GOD JUST GET IN THE HOLE THIS IS YOUR HOME GO HOME YOU FUCKING CUNT OF A POOL BALL
DID THEY INTEND FOR THIS TO BE FUN? IS THIS WHAT SEGA THINKS FUN IS?
on the plus side, the Hard One Shot challenge is significantly easier than the Normal one lol
Yakuza games really aren’t as long as people think they are.
They’re only like 15 hours in terms of the main story. You only clock 200+ hours by being a completionist.
...when the hell was saejima in 0
When Majima talked about him in a flashback?
A flashback cutscene, but I thought they just reused prerendered scenes from 4
Any cheats or hacks to skip the pool challenges? This fucking sucks
Which one are you stuck on?
normal, like everyone else in this thread.
this anon's advice is saving me time but the second and third ones are killer. any time i do the second one, it feels completely random. were these tested at all in development?
If you don't have a few retries, just reset as it's almost impossible to sink this in one try.
>low power shot on the center of the ball should work every time
it just doesn't work. no matter what. the goddamn red ball goes over the slope, but then it veers off the side.
Ok, never mind! Same shot, same angle, same power, same positioning, and it works. It just works. And then the third one is done in one go. Good fucking tips anon, major props to ya.
Grats! Hard is a freebie after that. Good luck with Legend though haha
I hope I don't need to do this shit at all, but thanks for the hope anyway.
>as a man
>as a woman
anon, you're looking purely at the gender factor and not the nationality factor.
Honestly I don't even think they listened to the English dub before okaying it
oh my god you don't need to hit the fucking orange ball into the red ball to win the course i am having a FUCKING STROKE
I love the series so far but I am not fucking about with completion lists. I do as I feel. 100% stories and the rest try them and play a bit the parts I like.
This looks fucked up. I was really a pleb and didn't know how to play these games. I will do better in Kiwami 2.
I have never 100%'d a Yakuza game. I do lots of side stuff, get my fill, then beat the story in one big rush
I want to eat here
I always do all of the side-quests that involve some kind of story/characters, but for the rest I just do whatever is fun for as long as it remains fun. Never bothered much with the Japanese games/gambling, aside from Judgment which required some mahjong for one of the sidequests.
>Hanawa is actually Morinaga
Really wonder where they're going with this
I guess I’m not mad about that if that’s the case since he was off screened to the point we never saw a body
They really butchered the Judas Priest song, wtf.
>knows that almost everyone prefers the original DoD
>still shills the DE version
the og DoD to the latest amon instead
What the fuck is RGG's problem? Shit, even LAD/7's boss battle acknowledged that DE is literally different from THE dragon of dojima style
Gaiden Dragon style is a mix of all his styles. Charged Lights are Beast combo + hyperarmor. Throw and Reversals are from Brawler.
The only one that isn't represented is Rush but that's fine coz Rush sucks.
I just hate their shitty turn-based combat
They never fixed it for 8 so I’m gonna wait till the game is dirt cheap
Think we can all agree Gaidens colliseum is by far the best
I'm so happy with Gaiden. I've embraced the crazy direction it's gone in and I love it. Kiryu for ever bros.
>Left the hostess shit for last
>Really, REALLY want to just not do it
>Still going to force myself through all of it and complain about hating it and not having fun the entire time
At least you can skip through most of the cutscenes so it won't take long.
Then don't do it. It's that simple.
Only one left to go, I might as well finish, but I had to alt-tab because holy shit where are the fuckin' eggs.
Fucking retarded fatass.
>If you as a man were to say your favorite food is pizza, you'd be laughed at or just looked at as some kind of subhuman or manchild
KEK you're 12
sooo mine is alive, right??
FUCK THE JUSTICE FIGHT
>Gaslight Yongyea into killing himself
THE WORLD HAS CHANGED ITS COURSE
GYATT DAYUM
LORD HAVE MERCY
absolutely mogs the cabaret girls lol
Proof that hostess should be in game
Who's ichiban marrying?
god bless coomer devs
Should I start playing Garden now or finish Ishin first? I got past the tutorial and then just kinda forgot about it
If you like doing side stuff and the amon fights just bin Ishin until after Infinite Wealths out and you've finished that.
Ishins a boring fucking grind.
yakuza 1-6:
>WHO THE FUCK IS THIS GUY? I'M GONNA BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF HIM!
this game:
>OI OI, YOU'RE KIRYU KAZUMA, AREN'T YOU?
No, I'm not Kiry-
>YEAH YOU ARE, I'LL PROVE IT BY ATTACKING YOU!
If I must fight, I will.
>YOU BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF ME - YOU'RE TOTALLY KIRYU!
https://nitter.net/2005Dojima/status/1722682342597333124#m
god why
Thanks for not linking xitter, you're smart for that and I love you anon.
th-thanks
Damn, that sucks. They should've just warped party members to Ichiban/Kiryu at the start of the fight.
Man, if Gaiden is what they can do in 6 months, I can't wait to see what Infinite Wealth is after 3 years. Such a pity it's not a brawler but hopefully the combat will be more fun this time.
is it just me or is tiger drop ridiculously hard to land this time?
Apparently the Daidoji faction has access to the best plastic surgeon in the world.
>The ending dialogue
>The Y5 reference
I really hope he isn't who I think he is.
The only thing that's really different from the original guy that'd need any kind of procedure is his hairline is better
It sure is convenient that the castle is a boat. I wonder if they'll bring it to hawaii for Yakuza 8
>I wonder if they'll bring it to hawaii for Yakuza 8
would be kino, i heckin love the coliseum
why did they do it
With the yakuza out of the picture they need something else to introduce struggles, they're probably gonna be baddies in 8
The ost leaked but there isn't anything that sounds like their themes or Daidoji.
Then they're thinking long term, maybe they'll make a Gaiden 2
They learned from previous games to not blindly kill off characters. I'm sure they're now being ambiguous on how they write characters out in case they do get popular so they can plan something new.
Let me guess they left the tracks in the demo's files?
how the fuck do I get my fighter's friendship bar to get past Lv.2?
>get your team of 10
>find a battle easy enough that they can solo without your input
>just spam that so you can level them while you watch or do something else
>Yakuza LAD was b-ACK!
I don't think anyone has ever said LAD's music was bad. The only bad thing about it is the grindiness and frankly pretty boring battle mechanics compared to every other JRPG.
>Infinite Wealth was b-ACK!
>not posting the best song
FAKE AND GAY!
I hate how good the ost is yet you can barely hear it even with bgm sound setting all the way up. Developers need to stop doing this.
>Judgment was b-ACK!
best mission
>going around town tour with the boys
holy hell kino
it made the betrayal sting so much more
The boys 🙂
The Yakuza 6
Where the fuck is Akiyama?
They quite literally built him up to be one of the first characters to actually seek out what the fuck happened to Kiryu because he didn't believe he was dead. You think he'd be the first to show up in here.
Replaced by Nick Ogata.
There's an extremely bizarre error where the prompt for whether to use the nine gates tile says this instead
>Game knows you're cheating and flat out insults you by recommending to go to easy mode instead
Do you think Ichiban only isn't a DLC fighter in Gaiden is because the devs don't want to ruin the magic by giving him a real time moveset?
>ruin the magic
That excuse means nothing unless the game arbitrarily restricts the DLC characters until after the Yakuza dissolution.
It wouldn’t make sense for them to be there
It doesn't make sense for the actual dlc characters to be there, that's why they're dlc
It makes more sense for them since they’re barely involved in the stories
where yagami
Too expensive to cameo, same reason his phone dialogue in the Kaito files had the only blank picture.
How are the Xbone/PS4 handling Team Rumble?
I will never understand why the devs never brought back the ability to fight story bosses from the colliseum again
so wait what was the context for Kiryu bawling his eyes out?
he saw your posts
the orphanage kids sent him a nice message and a drawing from Haruto
ah so basically what I thought, the kids are growing up and he's not able to see them again
?t=2588
Ayako > Haruka
Racist > the rest
Sounds about right.
Pretty much. Nanba and Saeko are essentially cheerleaders while everyone else does the fighting. Also explains why they're the only mages with Ichiban being the Hero so he obviously is magically inclined.
Makes sense. I always thought it was pretty funny when Nanba and Saeko struck up a fighting pose before a fight.
Nanba fights like a weaker version of Sawashiro (he mentions he uses the umbrella in fights because he studied a martial art book on using weapons) while Saeko I'm assuming just uses some sort of self defense style.
Sawashiro is a yakuza with decades of experience vs Naba who is a hobo nurse that read book
He just says he uses it because the book gave him an idea, so he's basically just winging it. I don't think he actually knows what he's doing at all.
It is? Felt like last time I checked it was locked down. Don't think I'd want a save that just pops all the achievements when I'm at like 10 minutes of play on a Steam version
>It is? Felt like last time I checked it was locked down. Don't think I'd want a save that just pops all the achievements when I'm at like 10 minutes of play on a Steam version
The game files are often locked down but saves are stored separately and usually in the same format as steam
>That Saejima punching animation
They reused the same one from the Coliseum background and I love it
neat, I gotta play gaiden soon
You can kind of see Ichiban letting himself get hit
>Han in the back holding off 3 guys through his menacing presence alone
>Zhao needs Saeko's help just to take on two guys
uhhhh Zhao bros????
I haven't tried the demo yet, is the new girl actually a competent fighter?
Imagine how the story would have gone if this dumb fuck didnt throw himself off the roof
>I don't actually own it cause of Game Pass.
is there not enough else on game pass to warrant another month?
Do you mean 100% or just Platinum? The clan shit is probably the worst part (need to do it for Platinum too) but Puyo Puyo is extremely hard, probably one of the hardest minigames in the series even with frog stacking, and you also have to grind out the spear fishing minigame which takes a few hours. I think you only have to do 50% of the completion list for the Platinum. I went for 100% and it took 77 hours according to Steam.
Persona 5 Tactics next week but I just refuse to go full autist if I don't "own" a game.
>Persona 5 Tactics next week but I just refuse to go full autist if I don't "own" a game.
You own the save
I have a Series X in my basement as my Gamepass/Shit PC port box so that's where I'd be playing it at first. PC purchase is years later.
>You own the save
Microsoft does, and if you buy a game on PS5 Sony does. You can't make local backups at all.
I was talking about PC, gamepass is on pc and saves are generally the same format as steam
6 isn't too bad to platinum. The worst part is needing to beat the game twice to get the Legend achievement and maxing all stats takes a while because of the annoying XP system.
6 has the easiest legend, just reload your final boss save and switch to Legend.
>The worst part is needing to beat the game twice to get the Legend achievement
Reload a save before the final boss and swap the difficulty to Legend, then beat him again. You should always have two saves bare minimum because of the autosaving anyway.
>The worst part is needing to beat the game twice to get the Legend achievement
>he doesn't know
On the bright side, getting clan wins is helpful for farming money since it's pretty much the fastest way to get any sizeable amount of money in the game. If you're an NJPW fan, it's also got some cool cameos.
>Hanawa (Morinaga) got a full plastic surgery treatment to change his identity
>Kiryu just got a pair of glasses
>Chapter 5 has to quickly sum up Ichiban's adventures to make sense.
Weird since why would you play this before 7?
All games now have to assume that it's some secondary's first time playing the series
There has literally been a few people on this very board who have said they're playing Gaiden as their first entry into the franchise. They always have to think of newcomers.
I don't really see it that way. It's more of a refresher or a reminder since 7 was years ago. If they had to account for new players it would have been quite a bit more in depth than that
>Minamida grand prix is just fighting the last boss of every mainline yakuza game starting from the newest
They also play their respective themes too, which is great.
>Daigo doesnt eve last long enough to get to the good part of For Faith
to be fair, that's accurate to the original fight
>doc brown motherfucker from 3-5 really took kiryu's memories and built a bunch of robots that fight like the previous games antagonists
>also the robo amon before the real amon fight
knew we shouldn't have trusted the guy
But wait, how did he get Iwami's data
He somehow did it.
>Doc Brown secretly implanted a brain chip into Kiryu's mind to take all his memories and convert them into fighting data
>He knows the secret of Onomichi but is too obsessed with getting data to ever spread it around
>knew we shouldn't have trusted the guy
Let me set EN/JP dub per character in 8.
Is it just me, or did they remove QTEs?
There's a couple of them
QTEs have been gone for a while now bro
>It's a UFO Catcher mission
I really don't believe anyone enjoys wasting 10 minutes trying to flip these Monkey Ball cocksuckers into the hole
Missed opportunity for Jobryu's fight with Ichiban.
Cutscene'd away on Jobryu's side.
Ichiban's "fight" was basically a hallucination. He got knocked the fuck out after the opener.
does the babe from the start of the game show up again
Nyaamon
>breathes heavily after small fights
>constantly smoking
HMMM
Sheep Man is a fucking monster in the ring holy shit
I mash buttons and wins just happen
have you fought Justice yet?
nah I'm still working my way through arena grind, I started this game a few days late
looking forward to getting my ass kicked
This, but with Sodachi. Who knew Kuze's moveset is a fucking beast
Does any game in the series have good boss design? Just finished Judgement, and while the game is great overall, these infinite superarmor poiseblobs were atrocious.
they peaked with Mine
>play the 8 story demo dubbed
>P5 Ann's VA voices the black cashier
it's all so tiresome
It's actually like that subbed as well, since they're in hawaii a lot of that kind of dialogue is in english
CHRISTMAS BANGER
are any of the games NOT set during Christmas? I can't think of any
Yakuza 3 and 4 are both in the spring/summer
and that's why they're the worst
Yakuza 3 is the perfect game to have set during the summer though
So how's Gaiden? I'm going through 7 and probably won't get to it for like another month
It's awesome
The last few chapters may have cemented it as my favorite in the series.
Nice, looking forward to it then
it basically shut up all the fake fans that were using Ishin's mediocrity to try say the series was dead without Cheese Gyudon In Chief
It's good. The story is pretty short, clocking in at about 10 hours, but I felt it was well done.
The Cabaret fucking sucks but at least nobody looks forward to that.
Genuinely spectacular, my biggest criticisms are that the FMV Cabaret is hilariously awkward and the cosmetic system is pretty undercooked, and those are "who gives a fuck" level problems.
cold Miku
Is that the Project Mirai model?
There are no good fanbased. Fan comes from the word fanatic which already implies that no reasonable discussion is possible.
>it's been almost 40 years since Majima was the Lord of the Night and nobody remembers him for that
>they really are that old but it's hard to keep in mind because they look so young still because lol video games
wild as fuck
Imagine this but for men, as they become short senseis with long white moustache
>OMG I'M ACTUALLY GETTING MY COCK SUCKED!!!!!
vomit
>*dies of a blood clot produced from her 20 hours long gaming session*
>*paramedics arrive and try to resuscitate her only to see that retarded 'Do Not Revive' tattoo on her chest*
>*dies like a retard when she could've been saved*
There is absolutely no way in hell you can spin this as a good thing. She's absolutely fucking retarded for not wanting to live and just assuming the worst that she'd somehow end up disabled instead of pulling through.
context?
?si=7TaG5cZrwzsvMiK3
she's a retarded cunt
Akame has some real goddamn good tunes blasting in her base.
I hope they drop the JRPG shit after 8 since it’s evident it’s not going to get any better
He said he didn't want the Yakuza characters overshadowing their own story.
https://nichegamer.com/toshihiro-nagoshi-interview-creating-judgment-remembering-yakuza-and-focusing-on-japan/
>Nagoshi: We know that so many fans really love the characters from the Yakuza series, so promotion-wise, it might have been great if we could– if Kazuma or Majima could make appearances in general.
How do you figure they won’t resolve them in 8?
He strongly approves, chuds.
>Kiryu's culture, a Japanese born in the 70s
>'closely' represented by a Korean American born in the 90s
what did he mean by this
all Asians rook rike same
not wanting to end up on the wrong side of Chris Sabat's casting couch
>get out of job for diversity quotas
>strongly approve
What pushes a man to do this?
being american
not wanting to be cancelled and rallied against like Wendee Lee
So, if you're SO CONCERNED with Kiryu's voice matching his character in terms of culture, why are you not listening to the JAPANESE ACTOR in JAPANESE LANGUAGE?
Checkmate, atheists.
>A Korean guy matches Kiryu's culture
Did Kurylo just reveal that Kiryu's a secret Korean?
>Kiryu is actually a Korean sleeper agent planted in a fake family to be adopted by Kazama
>they just forgot to activate him for decades
is that dame danay guy? he's my favorite me-me!
It's like they went "you know what, this is a bit much" and then removed it right after
Ichiban will unlock his limit break towards the end of the game and it’ll be another real time beat em up thing like kiryus
Kiryu will retire after 8
Gaiden is a soft reboot for Kiryu, not a setup for a conclusion like some people thought it would be.
Gaiden's entire ending is just closing the door on the plot points of the previous games and rebooting Kiryu as a character, which is also why he has a drastically different design now.
>why he has a drastically different design now.
The Y8 trailer shows him getting the original outfit back later in the game
It will probably give some closure for Kiryu but that doesn't mean anything considering Kiryu is constantly given closure only for him to come back right after. Gaiden really feels like it's setting up a new status quo after Y7 pretty much tore down the old one
I think it's possible that Ichiban might get some kind of real time upgrade, but I think they'll probably stick with the RPG formula for a while longer.
I look forward to the dub being added so we can have angry arguments about Yong vs Darrow when comparing 7 and Gaiden's dissolution scene.
Is Kiryu's usual suit just not in the game or somewhere obscure?
The closest you're getting is a white Agent suit or the Yakuza 6 red shirt with black pants instead.
There's a lot of bizarre omissions in terms of clothing. No 1-6 suit, no 0 suit, no 3 shirt, no white pants options at all, etc.
I would have also liked Ryuji's coat but that one's at least understandable
Kasuga will get real time combat as the protag of the next samurai game
What if they actually do kill Kiryu at the end of 8? How would they go forward after that? I can't see Ichiban being the protag for like 6 games
>How would they go forward after that?
They would just bring him back
But what if they actually kill him off and never bring him back?
>and never bring him back?
It turns out that Beautiful Eyes used CIA technology after finding out about Jingweon's Korean body doubles to create a body double for Kiryu just in case something dangerous was going to happen. The CIA body double was the one that died after Kiryu was knocked out.
>we groomed a man for years to become another man only to transplant the orginal man's cancerous tumor into the body double so the original man can live the rest of his life in peace with his family
Too stupid or not enough?
How's he gonna survive the cancer?
What
said. CIA cancer replacement.
Miracle water
Rubber cancer
Then the series is over. And I'll curse RGG for their retarded decisions till the day I die.
>no Daigo Tojo civil war with high stakes and real fatalities where he can reforge HIS Tojo Clan in fire
>no shitting on one of Nishiki's old footmen (in another family now) for insulting your kyoudai's memory
>no Haruka high school spinoff (complete with Elektra complex)
>no angsty Daigo-centric game where he and his mother reconcile
>no cool shit because convoluted plots and ruining characters for momentary payoff is a good idea to them
I will never forgive the Japanese!
>Yakuza are irrelevant now
>new youth gangs
...Crows inspired RGG game?
The events of 2 took influence from a proper Yakuza war, but it was pretty watered down to the simple "Omi vs Tojo" thing and its true scope of violence wasn't displayed. Just one major hit. And besides, I want to see Daigo get the respect he deserves and a satisfying conflict complete with the car bombs, shootings, full on street rumbles over turf and influence as he restores the Tojo and moulds it into a new clan that's fit for the modern age.
>moulds it into a new clan that's fit for the modern age
so basically a legitimate company? Because that's what modern Yakuza are.
Something like that but with more physical presence because of course, it wouldn't be a Yakuza game without Yakuza goons roaming the streets. Like a last hurrah that stabilises the criminal underworld before the law clamps down on them like irl and they're limited in their scope.
For me it was
>that one solo plat that gives 3.6mil for S rank
>mix of ExHeat + Stance + Triangle + Tiger Drop
>get to 10mil
>do the gambling match to double it
Doable basically as soon as you unlock the plat matches?
also load up on cigs!
Find an easy 10 fighter level that your fighters can solo. The game is nice enough to push you back to the select screen after the fight so you don't have to anything aside from mashing a to get back into it, so you can mindlessly do that while you watch something else or if you're on pc you could even set up an autoclicker and afk it
YYYYYYYYONG OUT!
I unironically want a parry system, fuck these hyper armor bosses that turtle like crazy or just "wait till they do anime shit, get some hits in, then wait again". The pacing of fights seems fucked after 5 when they swapped engines and started doing style swapping
bro, your Tiger Drop?
TIGER DROP, LITERALLY THE ULTIMATE PARRY MOVE.
Tiger drop kind of sucks in gaiden
How so? It's strong as fuck.
Timing is tighter and the damage is lower
>Timing is tighter
skill issue
not if you max your damage via skills and gear
i have like 1700 damage and i kill bosses in 3-4 drops
Have you tried hitting with a charged finisher? It does as much as a tiger drop without having to even try, faster than waiting for enemies to attack you. Tiger drop's pointless.
>Have you tried hitting with a charged finisher?
useless since you end up taking half your life in dmg from boss during the hyper armor
If you can't find an opening to charge at least one of 3 finishers, you aren't going to land an 8 frame window parry on a 5 frame startup attack.
>Demo begins where Gaiden ends
Cute.
Sheep Man
I don't like how jumpy Joryu is
That's a Yagami thing
That's not Joryu
Yes but still
There's no "but still", that's literally not Joryu. The coliseum let's you play as different characters
>Hanawa gives Kiryu advice to draw out Nishitani, and Kiryu later gives Ichiban that exact same advice after his boss fight in 7
holy kino
oh shit, I thought we were getting another hokey side story where we see the paranormal stuff as the protagonist walks away (I love those btw) so this took me by surprise
never mind, they ended the way I thought. The RIGHT way. It wouldn't be an RGG sidequest without it
Kek
iz pretty gud
>i'm totally not kiryu
>everyone recognizes him less than 30 minutes into the game
this would be fucking stupid for any other game but it works for kiryu kek
It's kind of funny, at this point pretty much everyone knows aside from the people he actually cares about at the orphanage
Anyone here can tell me the whole plot and story summary of the new game?
Kiryu is government lap dog now and has to fuck up Omi members that would stop Watase from disbanding the Omi alliance. It's a side story so nothing critical happens aside from the last few cutscenes setting up IW.
Is it all after 7?
Epilogue is to set up 8. Most of it is concurrent.
>just one big filler side story to set up the next game
Man...
It's not filler, it's kind of the opposite really.
Almost like there's a reason it has Gaiden in the title.
It's not even filler though, like future stories will probably center around Daidoji
Yeah but Kiryu was already known to be under their thumb, at best the agents recruited in the story will be big players in 8.
It's not about the vague idea of them but the specifics, characters like Hanawa, the monk guy, the leader, the evil guy. They're all probably gonna show up again
Yeah but you won't need to know of them to get them in Gaiden, not like Gaiden was depending on a previous game to explain them.
It pretty much takes place simultaneously to 7, like near the start of the game you're in Yokohama at the homeless camp and they're like "there's this guy who got shot back in that tent, a nurse is currently taking care of him" and the climax of the game takes place at the dissolution scene in the omi headquarters.
Gaiden is so fucking refreshing after endless bloated games. Really wish it was the standard.
>bought every main and spin off game that came out in english since ps2
>still havent touched a single one
Am I a real yakuza fan?
I'd the Hawaii demo worth caring about?
I'm not that desperate to play it personally, I already know I'm going to play in January so I don't need the demo
I'm waiting until Christmas 2024 for a price drop since complete game is so fucking expensive.
>using a charged finisher instead of tiger drop
not a real fan
I use heat actions
you feel the drop and the heat as a real fan
>recruiting the strongest convenience store clerk story
kino
I let him have that one, I just watched him beat up his boss
Do people honestly use Tiger Drop in LaDG? It is god awful compared to how it's been in the past, and with the way everyone is hyping it up despite that I'm convinced this is just epic tiger drop meme shit.
Tiger Drop is good in every game other than 6.
Well, yeah, cause 6 is just bad. Onomichi is awesome though.
