Me. Richfags in the nice parts of town were always upgrading their TVs, so getting an old trinitron with allowance+job money was easy. Played everything from SNES to 360 on my old 20in set.
Sony made consumer trinitrons you goose - everyone had them. They are actually better than PVM/BVMs for multiple reasons.
Also other manufacturers like Mitsubishi had the exact same screen tech as the sony's.
I hate emulation and flatscreens. I have flash carts and ODEs for all of my consoles and only use CRTs.
You can emulate on a CRT very easily.
Plasma chad posted this on Ganker recently and it made me happy. This is what people should be seeking to achieve instead of some antiquated CRT setup with the world's tiniest screen and clunky original hardware
Raw nearest neighbour looks like garbage even on a small screen - on a screen that big it's just revolting.
Don't these shit just die after a while?
No. Panasonic Plasmas are still alive and kicking and have better image quality than modern OLEDs.
T. - still got a 65 inch in the lounge.
Imagine wasting all that time setting this shit up, trying to recreate the past, only to see it all through 30-something-year old eyes and not gaming on 10-year old eyes. You literally filtered yourself...

I had a top of the line $2500 plasma TV back in 2011 and it died in 2016. The power board shorted out and the cost to replace it exceeded the value of the TV.
No, I used to move a lot and had to get rid of a lot of my old shit, now people on ebay are asking ridiculous prices for something people used to throw out when flatscreens became a thing.
I'm not willing to pay that much for old, used shit.
I just play older games on my Anbernic because I don't give a fuck about scanlines. Once I'm done playing the game I'm only going to remember the game I played and not how great the scanlines were.
I can get the same visual experience through shaders in retroarch without shelling out $300 to 3rd worlders on ebay for a 15" piece of shit that'll take up unnecessary space on my desk
why zoomers love old tech like it's supposed to be good> its not you fucks, no one misses shit internet, 2 gigs of storage and shit monitors/tvs; ew miss the good old games though
no. i pirate everything dreamcast/ps2 and down on an old work laptop thats hooked up by hdmi to a bargain 50" tv i got in 2014, audio for this setup goes to a soundbar by optical for some reason.
makes me feel like a kid again, nothing like a good jank setup.
So what do I even look for in a crt. I never had one as a child. But there's different inputs, s video, component, composite, scart, rgb, those yellow and white and red cables.
What input should I be looking for? And are any even compatible with modern pcs? IF not, what should I be getting, a mister?
Go to FB marketplace and try to get a consumer trinitron with component and s-video. Size is preference but generally don't go above 32in or the picture looks warped.
Most of the images posted here are from professional video monitors or PVMs and if you can get one great but trinitrons are just as good and have size to them which is better for social play.
Cope.
GEMERALD, CRchuds eternally BTFO
Funny image but the scanlines should be horizontal, not vertical, zoom-zoom.
Why do people make these kind of Wojaks?
This is way too specific to be parody.
Gem
way too specific stuff in that pic.
>crchud
I just use a shader on an oled like a nornal person

That's going in the gem stash.

Name 3 people you knew back in the day who had Sony-grade Trinitrons as their main TV sets
>Sony-grade Trinitrons

i use a fat OLED tv because imagine squiting in 2023 lol lmao
No, I liked playing my WiiU on a CRT. I wish consoles still had analog outputs.
Oh it's this thread again, can't wait to get my eyes RAPED by the same CRT filters people keep posting for some reason
bump
This thread is back. Now let's see the salt from these autists.
Gonna have to squint really hard to see the text on that screen OP
I play emulated on my old 1080 monitor and you can't stop me
>period appropriate hardware
>like 10 inches
absolutely nobody played that game on less than a 20" tv
you are a poseur
Forget it they'll never understand
Around that time, nobody I knew had a TV designated solely for gaming (i.e. located in a bedroom or basement) that was larger than 13"
Does it count if I use a TV tuner to output composite video of an emulator on my PC?
PVM-20L5 reporting. Yes, obviously, when I was a kid we didn't use PVMs; my childhood gaming monitor was a 17" black consumer-grade CRT in my bedroom.
I hate emulation and flatscreens. I have flash carts and ODEs for all of my consoles and only use CRTs.
heh

Holy shit, the bezel on that thing
That's completely normal for 00s TVs, zoomer.
>00s TVs
Oh, so it's shit? Got it.
Not my point, champ but, yeah, it's a plasma. CRT and OLED is better.
zoomie detected
Getting a functioning plasma tv is harder than getting a top tier crt.
This I saw a BVM before I saw a plasma on my FB marketplace
Dude managed to sell it for $2000 in a day.
Don't these shit just die after a while?

PVMs are not period appropriate
Regardless of how many more people used RF/Composite to play their games at the time, PVMs are still period appropriate.
I have a 32in trinitron and an 83 in oled. Best of the old and new, but not everyone has the space I do. Enjoy your game how you like it senpai
>look at this image on your LCD that shows how good CRTs look
will never not be hilarious
I'm viewing it on a 22 inch CRT computer monitor though.
No, I used to move a lot and had to get rid of a lot of my old shit, now people on ebay are asking ridiculous prices for something people used to throw out when flatscreens became a thing.

That screen is too small for psx games
For you
I had no problem playing them on my V90, then again it was mostly stuff like Crash Bandicoot, but still I'm sure it's mostly fine
take me back take me back TAKE ME BACK

No you can't and you retards always get btfo in EVERY one of these threads. It never looks like the genuine article.
Im a huge CRT fag and the shaders are often close enough.
You guys DO wear period appropriate clothes when you play retro games ... right?
No. I got rid of all my old tvs years ago because I'm not a hipster gay.
>14 inch monitor
why zoomers love old tech like it's supposed to be good> its not you fucks, no one misses shit internet, 2 gigs of storage and shit monitors/tvs; ew miss the good old games though

No? I already did that, I don't need to do it again.

I found the one you have for $500. Should I get it.
That's prob a pretty good deal for that specific monitor but its prob not worth. Would get a nice trinitron instead for under $100.
found a ilo crt that was made in 2007, anybody have experience with these? what would a trintron have over this tv?
Yes but not on gay trinitrons.
Retro games are intended to be played on whatever shitbox tv was around at the time on RF or composite.
