Early 3D accelerators were actually the cheapest part of a high end PC in the 90s.
Were they really that cheap though? The voodoo cards were like $300, or $550 today. And SLI became an option
Nowadays we just have single power hungry chips to fill the gap left by that tech being discontinued
Bros how do I stop living in the past
I keep trying to find enjoyment in the world around me, but I can't escape the memory of better days. I'm afraid I'll live the rest of my life like this
honestly this shit hit almost everyone, work in yourself, the past is the past, live the moment, even if you had a good day today will you miss it the next day? you had to be a really good person to achieve what I am talking about here anon so you can have a piece of mind.
Everything today annoys me a lot though, as if like common sense has been turned into common stupidity. Nothing seems to be really going in a positive direction
Realize you're living in the past to escape today, and that there isn't an appreciable difference between now and then except your LACK of knowledge. People were always stupid, a lot of video games fricking sucked ass and were shit, but you didn't spend 6 hours on fricking post-2015 Ganker listening to constant negative reinforcement.
Frick no
You have all the shitty politics and corporate players but none of the convenience we have now
Your attachment to the moronic games you played doesn't make it better on any real level
I don't care about the past anymore. My current goal is too get as much money as possible and then frick off from society. Already got a house and car. Just one more step and I can leave this fricking "community"

>get as much money as possible and then frick off from society
how exactly does having a lot of money help you when you're away from society?
>best games >amazing hardware >not giving billions in tax money to bomb donetsk children and freezing to death >arcades are still in business
how do we go back?
You grew nostalgia goggles as shit was definitely much worse back then computer usability, general hardware capability and specially games variety wise. Try to be a indie in the days of CD ROM and no steam.
Also social media became a thing which gave a megaphone to all the 50 shades of village idiots whom now form the bulk of the lynch mob activists. From pink haired communists to cross dressing men. This is contaminating all forms of big budget, mainstream media which is the sole reason you think everything is shit now
It wasn't. Windows is and has been shit consistently since its exception. XP was probably the least intrusive because it was that sweet spot of hand-holdy but not to the point of denying you access.
Frick the 2000s, 90s were infinitely better.
Both periods were great and you didn't have to 1-2 grand for a flagship GPU. Midrange GPUs these days cost what flagship cards cost back in the 2000s.
have to spend*

90s had better vidya music. Early 00s had overall better games.
This. In the 90s you had 10+ genre-defining, instant classic games released every year.
This is why if you were born after 1990 you don't know shit about videogames.
>This is why if you were born after 1990 you don't know shit about videogames.
>mfw born in 1991
It's really 1995-2005 that most people are nostalgic for. That was the real peak vidya "decade".

what?
do I have to define what a good person now? honest, loving, caring, selfless... etc
Everything today annoys me a lot though, as if like common sense has been turned into common stupidity. Nothing seems to be really going in a positive direction
Everything is shit. Congrats, you are now your grandpa.

>Professionnel

>>not giving billions in tax money to bomb donetsk children and freezing to death
Giving billions in tax money to bomb Iraqi children was better
the moment mid-2000s peaked
I can literally feeeel how cheap that spongebob controller was. Still used it sometimes.

Those big monitors SUCK. When I got my first computer it burned my eyes until they were all red
The internet was nice back in the days before normies flooded and ruined it.
Yeah well that's the past now. You're gonna need to accept sooner or later than it will never get better.
>We're as far away from 2000 as it was from 1978

Potatocam pic but the 2000's have never left.
I'm want to install windows 98, what is the best way?
Virtualization.
That's actually more complicated now that modern hypervisors break support.

or packaged like this
https://github.com/felixrieseberg/windows95
there was a recent 98 version of that too
Build a Pentium 4 machine. Put any GeForce that's compatible in it. The GeForce MX series are perfectly fine for win98 gaming.
