Really the only major problem I had with this game was the weird progression system of how leveling vocations affected certain stat growths, so if you wanted to min-max a hybrid class it usually meant grinding through a hundred levels of mage and then switching over to your chosen vocation. It's like how awful it was to grind level bonuses in Morrowind/Oblivion; yeah, you didn't NEED to do it, but it feels suboptimal not to.

      Anonymous

      >yeah, you didn't NEED to do it, but it feels suboptimal not to.
homie you can beat the game at level 1, just use the fricking consumables

      Anonymous

When will this shitty fricking minmax meme end. Your stats at max lvl and max gear count for less than 10% of your total ar. Even if you decide to play strider after playing mystic knight for 200 levels, it will barely make a difference.

        Anonymous

Didn't even realise this was a thing
As soon as I got Mystic Knight, I just stuck with it
Does it actually gimp you that much for just using one vocation?

          Anonymous

Nah, the minmaxing is more of a meme than maining a single vocation.

          Anonymous

Not at all you can just keep playing as the vocation you are, but mystic knight gives you like... a bit of everything I think? And a little more stamina
meanwhile ranger gives a shitton of stamina
Assassin gives a shitton of physical attack
Sorcerer gives a shitton of magic
          That stuff
          It only matters for minmaxing

        Anonymous

        this
minmax shitters insisted I needed to do it because "muh bbi will be too hard" but sticking with a class made me drop the game every time I tried picking it up for like three fricking years. Now I'm playing it and just playing as whoever the frick i want when I want and it's so much more fun.

dragon's dogma is not a game to care about minmaxing. if you do you are a turbo nerd amongst turbo nerds, as only turbonerds played and enjoyed dragons dogma. i say this as someone who has played through it multiple times and is probably in my top 5 most played games.

Really, the lack of Aught in this game disappoints.

        >spend the whole game pointing at the dragon like it's wrestlemania
        >don't expect it to pay off for a second
        >at the peak of AD&D hijinks where the one-eyed priest is summoning liches to fight me DRAGON DROP
        >retread the steps of the prologue character
        >get to the deal
        >"I didn't come all this fricking way to NOT fight a fricking dragon."
        >it's actually amazing
        >dragon giving you occasional enemy bro-fists throughout the fight
        >telling you to keep up with your cardio and shit

Honestly, Grigori didn't even do that much evil dragon shit. He totaled a boardwalk in a dumb animal rage before the presence of someone who wasn't b***h-made activated his higher brain functions, then took off towards a locked up mountain canyon and EVENTUALLY crushed a cult leader during his evil monologue.
Meanwhile the Arisen is a putz who gets yanked around by his dick for 50 hours then eventually trips over godhood.

In this game about slaying the dragon no one on the continent is more hype about you slaying the dragon than the fricking dragon.

The games is so fricking weird. It's super dull dogshit and then Grigori shows up. Grigori absolutely steals the show with only like 3 cutscenes and a boss battle leading to an absolutely insane, game-changing endgame leap in tone.

It's almost a miracle that this game got a sequel greenlit

            Anonymous

...what? Grigori is literally at the start of the game twice. Both with Savan in the prologue as well as eating your heart and shitposting.

          Anonymous

The whole point of Grigori even bothering to speak to you is that you were getting caught up in the duke's deliberate attempts to distract and hopefully kill you, he was literally about to ship you off to another country to get rid of you before Grigori drops in to remind you of the point of leaving Cassardis in the first place

Grigori is my favorite dragon in vidya. But is Grigori the name of the dragon, or the Arisen who becomes the dragon? Because if you lose against the Seneschal you end up becoming the dragon too, so is it a name or a title?

Also obligatory frick Duke Edmund. Wish there was a way to get that stuttle-fricker to get screwed over.

I get the feeling that most dragons act like buttholes to separate the wheat from the chaff. If you can’t handle some entry level mindgames you dont deserve the throne, you’ll end up as a shitty Drake or a Wyvern, just a future roadblock for a superior Arisen
