I don't think anyone making these claims were around before Steam was a thing.
The PC Gaming section had the wonderful choices of Reading Rabbit and Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing along with whatever Blizzard game they happened to have in stock. We were third class citizens in retail stores.
This is on the other hand is an extermination.

Just buy a drm free digital copy, emulate, pirate. Imagine thinking a disc is the best way of owning shit when they don’t even make it easy to copy it. The fricking data you own on a disc

You haven’t owned shit since the PS2. When games got too big for discs you stopped owning them. The world moved on grandpa, physical is just a downlod code on a collectible nostalgia disc

And start releasing their first-party games on PlayStation and Nintendo consoles. Then they wonder why their next console sells less than the Series consoles.

Exclusives didn't sell Xbox and Sony consoles. Best selling games were GTA, Fifa COD and multiplat shit.

Somewhat related question here. So my series s used to be able to play retroarch and whatnot before MS stopped allowing it. I had it all set up and running. If I buy the developer thing for my xbox can I run it again and will it "just work" or will I have to set up everything all over again?

Canceling the BC program really pissed me off. They were gassing it up how much they were committed to it and they just announced they were working on original Xbox games joining the program.
And then they just fricking close shop.

For me, it's the one-two combo of that and cancelling third party emulators in retail mode after Xenia was ported. I've rarely used my Series after that.

    >No more retail mode emulators in the middle of gen

What a killjoy of a platform.

The entire reason sony keeps winning is because xbox keeps shooting itself in the feet/knees/dick and nintendo doesn't really give a shit about having a good console that doesn't make all games look blurry and compressed to shit.

On PC but most console games still have fully playable builds on the disc. You can install and play the entire game without ever going online once.

Still uncommon for consoles, I've only seen it for certain Switch games.

people want to blame companies for this but really, it's because digital is more convenient than physical
and there's nothing that motivates normalgays more than convenience, so physical is dying out

If they are going to doubledown on gamepass it makes sense to drop support to physical.

With that said, i don't think it will work and it will likely be the death of the brand.
