There was a point in time where i was playing Sea of Thieves, Bomberman R Online (rip) and Halo Infinite all at the same time and i felt like i was waking up to go to work everyday. Then Multiversus last year which i havent touched at all in january.
I basically had to stop playing all of them except sometimes SoT cause i literally did not have the time for multiple live services.
Overwatch 2 has the fricking gall to constantly do mini events and have short battle pass seasons when people are juggling real life with their games.
I can't help but think this game would've had a very dedicated following if it was anything else. a massive multi-man melee wrestling game sounds fun as frick without the context of it being a shitty fortnite-esque GAAS with one of the worst fricking artstyles i've ever seen short of nidhogg2.
games just can't be fun anymore. and apparently they can't even look appealing either. I just don't get why the frick companies are making games for nobody and no-one.
I feel that for a GAAS you need to make a game with a very appealing artstyle that players want to continually earn cosmetics for. That, or the gameplay needs to be very good and FOMO stuff (ie, weapons) need to offer unique playstyles or advantages.
The former is how XIV, Genshin, and Fortnite manage to survive, and the latter is how Destiny does.
Games like this where the artstyle is just hideous and the gameplay isn't that special either have literally nothing going for them as a live service and no reason for players to get invested.
They completely fricked up with the presentation, insane amount of bots and made mistake after mistake with the balancing. The most fun part of the game was the special moves and what do they do? They put overpowered weapons everywhere which makes the special moves completely worthless. They had a fun game at its core and they blew it.
bots are fine with how homosexual sweaty players are, and weapons in S1 were way less of a problem compared to the now long ass fricking combo stunlocks that will literally 100-0 you the moment some sweat gay connects.
shit like dolphin dive and wall splats don't belong in a FFA party fighting game its funny how all the tryhards whine about stupid shit like mist or sumo slap both easily countered but god forbid anyone whines about their unstoppable dolphin dive death combos that were looping forever lmao
the game is fricking awful and for none of the reasons Ganker thinks, because Ganker doesn't play games. it could have been really fun if it was made by competent devs. but yeah no wonder it's shutting down, it has been dead since it released.

Rumbleverse is one of the ugliest games I've ever played (not THE ugliest, Nidhogg 2 & Bleeding Edge exist), but it was also the best battle royale ever made from a gameplay standpoint and only got better with Season 2.
