I thought it was boring but it's actually fun when you roleplay a character and cheat a little bit at the start of the game to give yourself good enough shooting skills and give yourself at least a handgun and some magazines, as wouldn't be uncommon for a person to have. By default the starting house is always unrealistically bare. Grinding at the start of the game with shitty melee weapons makes for a less realistic experience.
My next idea for a character is a Louisville cop who wakes up on his day off to find the apocalypse has happened. So I start with a handgun and a working vehicle, but to compensate for difficulty I will turn zombie population to high
incompetent dev team
The controls fucking suck. Makes it unplayable for me, but I've watched people's RP playthroughs for hours on israelitetube.
So I like it but I hate it.
>By default the starting house is always unrealistically bare.
On this note but I was Project Zombied let you choose your starting location, at least somewhat; or better yet and have there be starting scenarios, like the few presets in the game mode selection menu (A RLY CD DAY, 6 months later, etc).
It would pretty cool that if you picked a police officer as your occupation, you could actually start in a police station.
>It would pretty cool that if you picked a police officer as your occupation, you could actually start in a police station.
You can, I forgot what it was called but one of the most popular mods for more spawns has an option for spawn by profession
Good shit anon, I might just play it tonight just for that
also, look at this kino i just found while looking

>It would pretty cool that if you picked a police officer as your occupation, you could actually start in a police station.
You used too. Doctors spawned in hospitals and so on.
It's not even a novel feature, they ripped it straight from CDDA
Why do CDDA trannies always fall back on
>our game did it first!!
Not everyone wants to play a game with ASCII graphics or rudimentary shitty looking tiles.
Because "THING but PRETTIER!!1!" is the most homosexual, subhuman thing.
>pretty things are... LE BAD!
This is literally what the communists thought when they started using brutalism everywhere.
Ah I see
just like how the game used to have NPCs already
>and cheat a little bit at the start of the game to give yourself good enough shooting skills and give yourself at least a handgun and some magazines
Finding guns is the fun part of the game for me. It's not even hard as long as you get to know your area, + makes finding survivor houses more significant.
>they ripped it straight from CDDA
Good? They should rip off more from good sources. That's how you make the game better.
>It would pretty cool that if you picked a police officer as your occupation, you could actually start in a police station.
Might be better to start in a hospital
If you're metagaming this shit sure but I want pretend I'm playing Resident Evil 2 in Zomboid
I like it. One of the comfiest games I've played.
>start game
>acquire enough food and water to last
>grind skills
>make base
>get gear maybe
you have now seen everything there is to see
I wouldn't have bothered with it if it didn't have multiplayer
You're supposed to role play and tell a story with your character. If you're just using the game's mechanics for the best possible outcome and that's it, it will be boring.
Exploring the map is fun though. Conquering louisville too, after you amass a hoard of ammo.
started playing this game again recently. sometimes it can be extremely fun. other times its boring as hell. its one of those games where u kind of need to be extremely creative to have fun in the game as there is no set goal other then to survive. i havent tried playing multiplayer yet but i assume its similar. if i had friends that had this game maybe it would be more fun but that wont ever happen so... yea.
>Nerf farming, trapping and fishing
>Remove the ability to farm anywhere else but on actual fucking ground besides maybe growing a few strawberry/carrot bushes in extremely rare and cumbersome growing tables
>Make player noise and presence compound over time, which triggers hordes to home in to the player's location if certain thresholds are exceeded
>Introduce looters
>Expand on helicopter events
This one might be controversial, but something I personally would really like
>Overhaul the fire system in the game and introduce bushfires that potentially force the player to hurriedly flush out from their base or potentially their town if they're unprepared to tackle it
Had way more fun with CDDA, even with how autistic it plays.
Devs you love to hate, but at the end of the day they're the only ones willing to put the work towards making the definitive zombie survival game, even if the vision will actually be achieved in 2030. I shit on them as much as anyone else for blogpost about vending machines and plastic bottle recycling plants, but I'm huffing hopium that it all builds towards a good 1.0 release.
The mid to end game is boring because at that point you have everything you need to survive indefinitely without needing to ever leave your base. You'll never run out of electricity once you have a generator or two. You'll never run out of food once you set up a farm. You'll never run out of clean water once you make rain barrels.
The only way to keep the game engaging is to ban all farming, fishing, foraging and trapping so you actually need to go out into the world to survive.
I'd say it's my favorite zombie game. If there was a 3d version that was expanded a bit maybe throw in some npcs and unique enemies I'd consider it perfect.
The configuration options help a lot to support different playstyles. I usually set the zombie count to max then turn off respawning. Then slowly try to clear out a town. Probably spent a good 70 hours clearing the town by the river and a few supply roads building a base and restoring vehicles. Does get stale after a while though.
Has some good mods to add in obvious thing like semi trucks, tanker trucks, RVs, missing parts, etc. Theres also one for npcs but it's not that good.
>Theres also one for npcs but it's not that good.
Are you talking about superb survivors or the one that's not on the workshop?
>superb survivors
Yeah that one, helps make the world feel a bit more alive but I found they kind of just stand around doing nothing even when you give them tasks.
>and give yourself at least a handgun and some magazines, as wouldn't be uncommon for a person to have.
Huh????
It's ludicrous to think guns IRL would be as scarce as they are with the default settings in Kentucky
They're not even good against the zombies since shooting is shit.
Almost forgot, download this. It fixes the shooting

Its just as ludicrous that cigarettes and lighters are such a rarites, or the lack of confederate flags or hard drugs. For all intents and purposes Project Zomboid vanilla may as well be set in Britain
>or the lack of confederate flags
Don't worry though there are plenty of pride flags on the steam workshop. In the early 90s. Before any of them besides the rainbow flag even existed.
ackyshually I do though
In the 90s a raindow as just a rainbow but then the great satan removed the 7th color, Indigo the color of heaven, and repacked it as the label of deneracy. A direct perversion of a physical manifestion of god promise to mankid, that things as beautful as rainbows can exist.
Redpilled.
an important detail I wish to impart to my ignorant peers is even if they don't in god and christ (god forgive them) but the people who are directly making their lives and crippling society at large do believe and that is their framework that leads them to destroy natural beauty. It's simple pattern recognition as this mere bit of gained perspective can help lead them to make the right decisions in life that gives health and happiness.
It might be hopeless tho, free will and independence is wasted on them.
If enough bigoted Christians took back the rainbow as belonging to God, would someone declare it a "hate symbol"?
absolutely
>Its just as ludicrous that cigarettes and lighters are such a rarites
At gas stations you can find hundreds of cigarettes
My opinion? You don't want it, trust me, OP....
This game is proof that complexity doesn't necessarily equal quality. There's so much random crap the devs spent ages on that doesn't add anything to the game. Things like thermal insulation being calculated for different parts of the body -- like why does it matter? It doesn't affect the player in the slightest. Same thing applies to cars where they have so many mechanics the player can play for a hundred hours without noticing. Fucking spend development time on shit that matters; not to mention they seem to spend more time writing blog posts about what they've done the past two weeks rather than actually working on shit.
Because their modder are doing their work
>Your opinion on Project Zomboid?
Wide as an ocean and deep as a dixie cup. The amount of exploration you can do is great, but actually playing the game is a fucking chore 80% of the time. Grinding up skills past level 2 is annoying as hell. You're not allowed to sleep in an area surrounded by zombies even if they can't path to you (either if you've destroyed stairs or blocked off entrances with cars). They've been teasing basements and huntable/domesticatable animals for what, a year and a half now? The only real challenge in this game is finding the generator magazine and a sledgehammer, MAYBE an antique oven if you don't plan on relying on electricity.
