Half the reason is that Yugioh’s near impossible to get into in real life anymore. Beginners have to basically buy something like $500 worth of staples to even think about making a deck.
At least MTG can make budget ‘livable’ decks for under $50 (though you’ll also never win 1st place at locals).
Yeah, Pioneer, Commander and Pauper are pretty cheap to get into. Standard and Modern fucking suck in this regard, no wonder their popularity is declining fast.
No surprise, at my LGS, there’s only like 5 people playing standard and only because they’re sunk-cost turbonerds who have to play it or admit they’ve wasted all that money on a dead format.
I don't know what's sadder, MtG being utterly ruined by WotC's greed and ESG score; or the fact that despite this it's still the best TCG on the market.
Most of the reason is the “WoW problem.” New publishers don’t have the resources or know-how to stick with a new tcg if it’s not an immediate hit and Wizards can’t lose because they have a millions big fanbase that either sticks around for the cheap casual formats or is the other extreme of competitive players who have to justify their purchases.

I cannot comprehend how this piece of shit can be so unoptimized. Why does rendering a table and a couple dozen cards make my computer use more resources than, say, yakuza 7?
Would have been smart to get it on steam years ago, when it released. I just finished downloading it but I hate magic so we'll see if it goes beyond a cheap sligh deck.
money grabbing scam

the amount of new sets per year is stupid...every other month or so you got to learn a new meta and pay good money to keep up
avoid at all costs
My THOUGHts
It's fine, good alternative to playing paper, matchmaking allows you to play vs people using the starter decks and have a good time, is... reasonably generous
I really like all the cosmetics
It's good
Makes me lose my mind when opponent starts intentionally stalling out while losing or just playing too fucking slow in general. At least in paper I can see my opponent drooling while they consider their next dogshit attack.
are you me?
genuinely made my life better when I uninstalled mtga a few years ago
I reinstalled it recently to try out some drafts but I already feel like its a waste of my time
Cucked game. Plus its gachashit. Plus its wokeslop. Plus the devs need to hire Pinkertons to defend their mid set that sells like shit. I came to vidya FROM tg to escape that actual slop.
EDH the way people have fun with in on paper cannot be translated into Arena unless they add full chat and voice. EDH without the social aspect of it is literally worthless.
>EDH without the social aspect of it is literally worthless.
I wouldn't be so sure about that, you have more and more people treating EDH like 60c formats recently. This is probably because EDH is becoming more and more the "main" format of MtG and the divide that used to exist between 60c formats and EDH where the former were meant to be competitive and the latter was meant to be casual and social is dissapearing.
>the divide that used to exist between 60c formats and EDH where the former were meant to be competitive and the latter was meant to be casual and social is dissapearing
That makes me sad for both parties, honestly, having two ways to play the same game be so different that they pander to entirely different ways of having fun is one of MtG's strengths.
You can't just say "perchance"
Crushing dragons
best way to play the most underwhelming and broken TCG out there

Stompy chad here
Fuck bluefags

it's a good adaptation of a game the queers at wotc are destroying

Full of netdeck gays. May as well be playing the same matches vs ai over and over again

Come home to Shandalar brother, come home.
Last time I played this I had to read a small essay on each card. Has it changed at all?
yes, now there are 2 essays on each card (front side, back side)

No thanks, I'm white, I learned to play Yugioh and am enjoying it.
>he doesn't know
Let me know when I can play legacy or custom game modes with friends.
I've spent a lot less time screaming in abject rage since uninstalling this shit. Would recommend (uninstalling)

Only acceptable if you can't play paper.
>pic
Literally me. I never get mad at videogames, but MTG:A had me literally screaming more than once

Let's be honest, most people these days only want to play EDH so Arena is going keep dying until they add that.

As a client it's pretty good, game is shit though
let me know when you can play commander on it (the only relevant format)
