why the frick did you all let some literally who borderlands writer on twitter suddenly dictate what you shitpost about because normalgays found it funny?

It did make people mad, the fact you have to respond to it EVERY SINGLE TIME highlighting how you are, in fact, very not mad about it, shows that you're fricking mad that it's true

Notice how they never make fun of Bloodborne when it does the same thing.

Sad, it's making things worse for Fromsoftware threads. Not that Sony deserves it, but without something to gloat about, without something for Ganker to covet, the Shazam Sisters will continue their efforts to try and make Ganker "hate" from software in resentment.

I was hoping Stellar Blade would be good so they'd leave us alone but It doesn't seem to be and the censorship thing tarnished it.

I honestly have no idea what they're doing with it. Are they saving it in case shit hits the fan and they need to win back the audience? Are they saving it for when their other games aren't selling well? They have to know how fricking moronic it would be to do nothing with it, I'm surprised Demon's Souls hasn't made it way to PC yet either.

The remake at least. Emulated PS3 version runs extremely well even on toaster PCs.

I used to ask myself this ages ago then I remembered a majority of suits are grossly out-of-touch with reality and devs are too stupid or inept to do anything fun.

            Anonymous

If you mean nintendo, they don't matter at all. A single console being excluded a multi-plat doesn't matter, because 3/4ths of Ganker can play the game.
The evidence is that Lies of P was suspiciously downplayed for being potentially better than Bloodborne. There is litterally a cultural aura on Ganker that makes you seem like an outsider for dare suggesting a game can one up Bloodborne.

The discord morons may be their own element now, but the root of Shazam trannery is "If From keeps releasing games that devalue Bloodborne in retrospect, then they must be shit"

It's the ultimate fox and grapes stage.

That literal who borderlands writer was completely right and it makes it extra funny how someone writing for terribly written games can shit on you and be completely in the right.

because especially in elden ring every detail in the game world is meaningful and people like tarnished archeologist are able to create cohesive narratives with not that many inconsistencies or writing errors (if any at all) just by lookig at the way the game world was built. where in so many games the details in the game world are not meaningful in any way and if they are the writing usually sucks donkey dick and it fails to form a cohesive image in the end. Elden Ring is an excellently written game and the fact that people are still coming up with wild theories Melina = Miquella and engaging with the content after all these years is a testament to this.

because they feel kinship with the borderlands writer.

art is only valuable when people engage with it and i think there definitely is a unified vision of the game's story and world which is beginning to form as the people who are dedicated to understand the game draw upon each other's work.

Engage with it yes, multiple interpretations that are all correct at the same time? No. Which is why stories like this are shit, sure OP youtube guy might be correct and there might be a consensus which is fine, but what if there are bunch of other interpretations argued equally or sufficiently that raise doubts? No, straightforward but deep story is always better.

This. I can take Demon's, Dark and Bloodborne having holes in the story left unanswered, but ultimately they were stories with a beginning and an end. ER feel like they couldnt even both with that, its someone even less coherent than its predecessors like they were trying to break their own record. But the truth is more boring: They ran out of development time, sprinkled some random texts here and there and called it a day. Youtubers discovered this and since it's intentionally left ambigious, it means anything can happen and you can start a grift as a "Souls Loremaster" by just making shit up. Im pretty sure this is how religions start. Or at the very least cults.

All those games have clear stories and lore, especially Elden Ring
        >But it isn't written in a description nor told by a guy
        Environmental storytelling is a thing

        Anonymous

ER has more answers to its story than questions while still leaving some mystery to eras or motivations of background characters or creatures you encounter. The player knows Marika's motivations but they don't know for example, why Placidusax's consort/god fled. The player gets the motivations of all the demigods and minor npcs but probably won't know who the GEQ was or what she did. My only gripe in the story overall is Melina and thats Fromsoft's blunder for not making her more of a poignant companion. I felt nothing when she died and I have no reason to save her from the FF either when I chose it.

How come Elden Ring got away with having a big empty lifeless open world when other games would be chewed up for having a similar one?

because nobody expected anything other than open world dark souls, and that's what it is
plus the world looks really good and you can actually go to every tower and mountain you see.

Because its not empty or lifeless, i'm convinced people who say this didn't play the game.

It is empty and lifeless. NPCs just stand around doing nothing, enemies just stand around doing nothing or looping their tiny patrol path until the player aggroes them. Every "unique" world event just repeats itself endlessly with every rest at a grace or death. The game did a poor fricking job on making the Lands Between a place you'd want to rule or save, which is why frenzied flame is the only decent way to play the game and is the best ending.

idk man lore is gay it's all about extrapolation of themes within the lore that illustrate or explore a complex human emotion or condition

  10. 3 weeks ago

Because mystery creates a certain tone that is both intriguing and compelling.

For example take that Liam Neeson's movie Taken, where all you need to see that Liam's character is a major badass grandpa is the line "I've learned a very specific set of skills." That line is so vague that i can mean absolute everything, but the vagueness of it make extremely badass that if the movie actually showed you what he used to be and do through a flashback montage it wouldn't come close to whatever you imagined.

So a undead knight saying "Zanzibart... forgive me!" just sets you off telling that this dude is a badass that did something horrible, that Zanzibart must be an awesome place because this cool character is showing regret for failing, and that the whole thing is just cool.
If the game showed you the city, and what he did, well, the entire thing would become trivial and just old news.

This is why so many sequels and franchises that end up explaining everything that the previous entry alluded to just end up as inferior.

      Anonymous

Forget it, autists don't understand the concept of vagueness. Ironically this is what produced all those lore videos in the first place because autists love to solve puzzles to make everything neatly defined.

Literal cope from modern audiences which through social engineering became fanatical zealots when it comes to defending their favourite product. People gave honest criticism about lack of writing so autistic spergs came up with hours long justifications that interpret and theorise about every single pixel in the game.
Modern gaming communities are absolutely disillusioned and mentally ill when it comes to accepting criticism, which is why I almost never bother.
