>Last March, Nintendo delayed The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom to Spring 2023. However, that wasn’t due to the game being incomplete or anything along those lines.
>Series producer Eiji Aonuma told The Washington Post that Tears of the Kingdom was basically complete when the delay was announced. The team ended up spending about a year on polish and to ensure that the physics worked properly. Given the complexity of the game, the debug process likely wasn’t easy.
People who claimed this game was delayed due to Elden Ring were probably right
This got kinda sucks only because the SoP wasn't actually even delayed it was just a bait thread
This is the honest truth that tendies cannot bring themselves to admit.
I seriously and unironically believe this to be true
Apologize to him. Now.
I don't get it
>snoygger makes shitty fake tweet screenshot
>proceeds to immediately samefag with an epic witty comeback
>proceeds to keep samefagging for 300+ posts
you didn't miss anything
Tears of the Kingdom isn't competing with Elden Ring. Not even Breath of the Wild was competing with Elden Ring. Tears of the Kingdom is a switch exclusive.
You stupid moron, they are competing, for GOTY, that award means a lot for companies.
Developers don't care about GOTY awards.
pathetic, a new low
The day tendies imploded
Please post the actual screenshot
Holy fuck
Anyone has the archived link for that thread?
it's not so big, and mostly reactions pics obviosly

so much snoy samefag
Wow that's crazy that the post count goes backwards!
literally: how can I project the objective nightmare that Horizon launched into both times to a game that this didn't happen to either time, but I'm just going to pretend that's what would have happened even though it didn't
unironically true, they wanted that GOTY award and knew Elden GOTY had already won in February 2022
God, she'd be gorgeous if she wasn't born with those deformed monstrosities on her chest.
and the results are finally here kek
it was totally worth it
IT'S FUCKING TRUE
He was fucking right, all along. I just can't fucking believe how stupid and ignorant Tendies are these days.
NOBODY who buys TOTK is buying chud ring. but EVERYONE who bought chud ring bought TOTK seethe
What's the point of competition when even the fucking company knows their dogshit won't sell better than the opposing company's game?
>delayed to polish
>still runs at sub 20 fps
Remove 'probably'.
Nintendo wants GOTY more than anything.
If BotW had released the same year as Elden Ring, it for sure would not have won GOTY. A multiplat vs an exclusive? Multiplat will get the award 10 times out of 10 if the games are equally good.
They probably weren't even polishing the game, just working on DLC and getting a head-start on next gen Zelda.
Not on emulator.
>Splatoon 3 isn't ready for summer 2022
>well shit what are we gonna do?
>Xenoblade is already done, just swap the release dates so we can push it to September
>but the special edition won't be ready until September!
>ok ok we'll sell it exclusively on our website so we can ship the game in July and the goods in September
>should we upgrade the website to prepare for the flood of traffic?
>No.
thanks Nintendo I had to import it you fucking retards
>we'll sell it exclusively on our website so we can ship the game in July and the goods in September
bro what are you talking about just goto walmart
>physics work great
i think it was just a timing coincidence
Nintendo pulls shit shit all the time. They'll finish a game, and then just sit on it for months or years at a time until there is just a total drought in releases.
Every company in every aspect of entertainment does this. The release date is just as crucial as anything else in maximizing sales.
tell that to the horizon devs
>People who claimed this game was delayed due to Elden Ring were probably right
Yeah, they were. But isn't that a smart move? They probably didn't predict that Elden Ring would sell at those figures.
Because of Elden Ring, we know.
The game is always complete before they polish the game retard
They are specifying they didn't call for a delay because the game was not finished, pre polish, but that the game was complete but needed the polishing phase
Obviously. EldenRingfags need any "win" they can get, event imaginary, after they got BTFOd after spending over a year screeching Zelda will review worse in every single fucking thread
that's bullshit, the physics engine was finished since BotW
New engine
it makes use of havok, granted they have to debug shit like what happens if the physics timestep causes some object to be embedded in another object between frames and it can't decide at what velocity it should untangle
that's also bullshit, why would they use a completely new engine for the same game, retard
>why would they use a completely new engine for the same game, retard
Because the old one was built for the Wii U. They ported it to the LunchPack engine that Nintendo Switch Sports and Splatoon 3 use.
Bros, this is FUCKING RIDICULOUS. I can’t believe they would dare to delay the game like this and treat us like we’re fucking retarded! How do we respond to this bros? I’m losing my fucking mind and can’t eat or sleep. I might lose my job. We NEED to take REVENGE somehow
I can't imagine some guy reads some news at 3 pm or some shit like that and suddenly voluntarily has to go to bed right after or eat for no absolute apparent reason and can't do either lmao.
The actual development must have taken 1-2 years tops, there is no way they would spend full 5 years (minus the polishing phase) of full, every day work on this game when they had basically everything ready (animations, sound, models, textures, the whole fucking map). Nintendo is a scam company.
Are you brain-dead? What else do you think they were doing in those 6 years? What was Nintendo paying them for?
Why didn't they release TotK in 2020 and a next game in 2023? That's 2x the money.
Probably delayed it to add the rushed Depths because they realised the dozen or so sky islands they created wasn't enough new content
You are either retarded or didnt play the game. The depths are an obvious core part of the game since the first trailer and the everything you do on the surface leads you down there constantly going back and forth.
>everything you do on the surface leads you down there constantly going back and forth.
Why do you lie?
Im sorry you didnt watch your favourite twitch streamer playing for long enough to see it, anon.
the depths is an embarassment with little incentive to explore it, the one consistent incentive for exploration that the overworld of botw and totk has are shrines, And the depths has None of that, just fucking battery rocks that help increase battery (if you care) and thats it
>and that's it
there's armor and unique weapons down there too. also a whole ass questline and one of the few runes the game has.
those dont excuse the depths for being such a barren part of the game, the yiga clan questline, and the autobuild rune couldve easily been done in the overworld
>the content that is underground doesn't count because it could've not been underground
do you read what you type before you hit post
so far i've found an actual rune ability, a ghost god quest, yiga shenanigans and a huge ass new monster that kicked me back out from the whole i fell in as soon as i landed on it.
And i havent explored it all that much.
Would you rather the game release like a Bethesda game? Retarded gay
I would've prefered they skip with the glue mechanic stuff and instead have an alternate game world like how majora's mask did it
they're all about breaking old zelda conventions so why are they so adamant it has to take place in hyrule?
You haven't even played TOTK.
yes I have
The real reason was they knew that it would lose GOTY to Elden Ring.
But it says right in your post OP that they pushed it back a year to fix the physics.
The "pysics" thing is just Anouma's coping method. It was really because Elden Ring would come off as better in almost every way.
the reality of game dev is grim, anon
Nintendo is probably already sitting on a finished new Mario and already started working on a new launch title Zelda years ago while finishing up design of the new console, they just know they don't have to release anything for years
I know some people on Ganker get emotional about nintendo and consolewars.
But this does make sense.
Its not a matter of beating competiton about who's better, it's about making a profit. Even if totk killed it and elden ring made half the sales it did. It would still be up to the consumer to choose one of those games to play, dedicate time to and would affect profits.
Like i could easily have bought elden ring and waited to buy totk. Nintendo doesnt want that.
Regardless of which game is better this is the best way to ensure profits.
Yup, people here a mostly retards and shitposters that like to spam flame wars, a lot of people feel 6 years was too much but it was probably just to maximize sales and Zelda being the center of attention in 2023 instead of competing with Elden Ring.
>Even if totk killed it and elden ring made half the sales it did.
ToTk has already passed half of elden ring's lifetime sales. Botw sold 10 million more than Elden ring. I don't know what kind of imaginary world Ganker users live in.
Cope
I really hope they release one for totk, I bet elden ring beat it by quite the margin seeing how little people played it on twitch
>youtube views
Elden Ring is designed heavily around streaming. That's not a good thing by the way.
Considering Elden Ring is the best game of all time, I'd say it is.
>Considering Elden Ring is the best game of all time,
I have actually never seen someone make this argument before, but there's a first time for everything.
>Pre-patch
>that was supposed to be so impressive that they slowed it down
As a Sonic fan, I'm grateful for the delay, because Sonic Frontiers would have been slammed hard.
Yeah. And they're still going to fix more soon and even add Tails, Knuckles and Amy so its a win.
It's not because of elden ring you fucking retard. Covid gave their console a massive burst of sales which caused them to delay the switch 2. In order to have something to sell switch owners in 2023, where the next console was originally supposed to launch, they pushed back Zelda.
This is so obvious.
>NOOO YOU CAN'T DELAY THE GAME FOR POLISH
>NOOO YOU CAN"T RELEASE A FUCKED UP BUGGY GAME WITH A 40GB PATCH
can't win with you fuckers
IIRC this also happened with BoTW (twice) and Super Mario Odyssey.
So where exactly are the bug fixes?
On console
Did they really rip off elden ring's spirit summons? lmao
the more I play and see of this game the less I like it, I genuinely don't get why people are sucking its dick so much
world looks and feels really similar, sky islands have fuck all to find or do, exploration feels the same with little reward for combat or exploration, caves and shrines all look exactly the same inside, depths has fuckall to find or do, almost all armors and weapons are just reused
What in the fuck took 6 years???
the strangest of all is that with botw you at least had people defend it endlessly with actually constructed points but with totk I don't see that
Isn't that what you wanted for the last 6 years was for nobody to disagree with you?
actually I wanted it to be good
It is good
I see plenty of arguments against it an no rebuttals
granted I'm only going to try it tomorrow but still, at this point I have a pretty clear picture of what it is
>I see plenty of arguments against it an no rebuttals
So you got what you wanted?
I wanted the game to be good
from what I've seen the sky area is tiny
the hyrule is the same map with minor changes
the underground is an inverted hyrule with barebones content
I've only seen people make basic bitch cars/rafts/aircraft in this game and people going crazy over stickfigures with wheels on them thinking it's gundam
You've not seen enough then, Hyrule is very very different on the surface, has entirely new content all over the place, whole biomes were swapped like the Rito place being completely snowed out, it has caves which are like an in-between of the overworld and underground that are often cleverly self contained puzzles, a whole bunch of shit. The most that is similar is the general layout (gerudo desert is still to the southwest, death mountain is still to the northeast, etc) and a lot of mountain ranges/fields are still in the same shape.
The underground is very fun and has a lot of shit to stumble upon. Don't want to spoil it but it's a lot bigger than I expected myself.
The sky is pretty small that is true. I think it works out since getting up there is such a bitch that it's rewarding to finally explore an island and usually pretty tricky to solve an island. It's a cool and well executed idea nonetheless.
>Hyrule is very very different on the surface, has entirely new content all over the place
We've played the game bro, you won't get away with just making shit up
You haven't played the game or you got filtered on the sky tutorial island if you think this
It's the same map with minor changes. Breath of the Wild: Scholar of the First Sin. No way they spent 6 years on this shit.
Last (You) I will give you
Death Mountain alone is extremely different. Like bonkers different.
that's the cherry picked one but most of the other areas a pretty samey to the last game
Literally the only things that are both in the same spot and work the same way are a handful of koroks and a couple of horse spawn areas
>cherry picked
It's a massive fucking area. Rito area is also different, so is the Gerudo lands. I haven't made it to the Zora's yet but I'll bet it's changed too based on the other three areas.
we already have the map for the overworld so there's not point in lying
well tomorrow is the day I'll find out and if you're telling the truth I'll be sure to make threads about it, if you're lying well then I'll just take a massive shit on it
What happens tomorrow?
tomorrow is the day I'll bother actually giving the game a try
I wouldn't tbh. Just stick to what you like. You've already made up your mind.
of course I'll give a go and see if it's truly as much of rehash as I think it is because I have a hard time believing it, worst thing that can happen is that it's as bad as I think it is
>worst thing that can happen is that it's as bad as I think it is
Wouldn't that be the best thing since that's what you want?
no I want it to be good but I don't have high hopes
like the different shit you people talk about must be shit like that gleeok or whatever being in lake hylia or some shit like that
you can stop with the retard shit already
Sorry meant for
How pathetic can you be to doslike something just because someone said so. Play the fucking game before crying about it, retard.
It has unparalleled exploration and a shitload of emergent gameplay thanks to the way everything ties into the physics and fusion systems. Other games have tried the second part but failed because they were either really janky (think HL ragdolls flailing violently when they're stuck in the terrain, Besiege chaos engines) or make building way too central (see the dozens of "build your own car/spaceship/etc" games that nobody plays and where everything you do with the things you build feels like an afterthought). The closest successful game I can think of off the top of my head is KSP because that can put limitations on what you build with the budget system and has you do a lot of things with what you build, but it can still be janky and doesn't have one one-thousandth of the world to explore that TotK does.
Hope that helps
>emergent gameplay
i will not join your cult
HL ragdolls are funny and you haven't played besiege
scrap mechanic is another example you can include in your bait next time
I did play Besiege, it got popular here because the chaos engines were very funny but then they patched them out. I went back and replayed it last year and it's kind of bland without them honestly. Only got about two or three worlds in before I got tired of it. Only the levels where you have to build a machine that flies were all that difficult but most of them had you building some variant of a car
>It has unparalleled exploration
lol lmao there is nothing new to find
we learned there was no point trying to reason with people who are incapable of reason. there's no point rebutting your 20 completely fabricated claims when you'll gnomishly regurgitate them again the next thread as though no rebuttal had ever happened.
this so much
i haven't played it but i hate it
looks like fucking dogshit
let alone it being for the toddler table
>I haven't played it but I hate it
so you're a moron.
He didn't waste his money or time on this shit game. He's smarter than you and me
why would i waste time playing tendieslop for literal toddlers instead of playing a real game
kys
Retard. Go play it at least on emulator and enjoy yourself, I already forgot the whole LE DLC BAD LE SECOND GAME LE DLC MEME LE COPY PASTE. Its more enjoyable than BOTW.
Zeldatransvestites fear the Elden CHAD.
The pandemic probably had most to do with it. You could tell that a lot of recent Nintendo games like Splatoon 3 and Xenoblade 3 had issues with development.
Look at how terrible preview versions of the game ran. The "Day 1 Patch" fixed pretty much all performance issues with the game. Before that patch the game 100% would have had points docked for shit performance.
That extra year was 100% necessary, because you bet your ass the leaked build is what would have dropped in March 2022.
Why would Nintendo leak their own game? The only reason games leak 2 weeks early is because it takes time to ship copies everywhere. As soon as one under paid gamestop employee gets access to a cart it's leaked.
They delaying the Windwaker and Twilight Princess ports too?
And TotK released bug-free and everything unironically just fucking works, which cannot be said for literally any other Open World game made by any other dev, ever.
Look at Elden Ring for comparison - it was clearly unfinished on release, broken quests had to be patched in, it has no physics or any dynamic or interacting mechanics and yet it's a janky fucking mess that still has issues which were present in fucking Demon's Souls - 13 years before it's release - such as bad input bufferring or enemy leashing.
there is literally a way to duplicate your weapons, elden ring didnt have that
Ok. And?
>And TotK released bug-free
inb4 NOOOOOOOOO THAT BUG DOESN'T COUNT because.... because... IT JUST DOESN'T!!!
But it doesn't count and elden bung is buggy as shit still
Yea instead it has the big ass dragons phasing out and resetting becase you went 10 meters too far from their spawn point or them falling 5 feet and dying instantly or AI autododging on attack animation start even if you weren't targetting them + hundreds of other shitty janky bugs.
For fucks sakes anon, most of the quests in Elden Ring literally couldn’t be finished until patches came out weeks later
This is not true.
Okay so please explain how you got Shard of Alexander before Patch 1.03, which btw is a pretty key item for a shitload of Builds
One quest ≠ most of the quests
The Dung Eater quest, the Diallos quest, Alexander/Jarsburg quest, and Millicent’s quests all needed patches to become finishable. Theee are all major side quests that take several hours to beat btw.
How many major side quests does ToTK need patches again, dear anon?
>major side quest
>go to point A and and press A
bit hard to fuck that up
>most
I remember only 2 quests that you couldn't finish at launch, the dude in his castle in the south and the warrior woman
Diallos and the little jar dude
Patches and Tanith
Kennet and Nepheli (and also Gostoc)
That's not a bug it's a feature
>bug-free
Kino
Duping is a cool bug, not a bad one, cry more
Show me an actual game breaking bug then Anon.
that's a glitch, not a bug, learn the difference
>cheating at a singleplayer game
For what purpose? I beat it yesterday without ever cheating. Built a 15 room house, bought arrows constantly, still had like 2k by the end and at least 15 of all the gems/diamond. Did you fuckers not find the goron who trades 100 flint for 1k? Did you not grab all the spikes off the dragons and sell those when you were farming mats? Shameful
>the physics are really polished
>everything unironically just fucking works
This is what people who don't "get" the appeal of BotW/TotK never seem to understand. They can say it looks bad, or the combat looks boring, or all the different mechanics have been done before in other games, but it's not until you actually play these games that you realize it's about the total package and how everything works together flawlessly. This is old school Nintendo seal of quality type shit, where you almost never stop and think about what went into the development of the game because everything works so well it's almost like the game just fell from the heavens already complete. It's pretty amazing when you do stop and think about everything they accomplished. There's really nothing at this point that compares.
I played the game, I realized it, and still think it sucks
You don't have to like every genre, dum dum. I don't really like fighting games or arena shooters, even though those are massively popular. I loved Demon's Souls, felt like Dark Souls was pretty much the same game but not as good, and never touched a Souls game again until people went on and on about Bloodborne - and it turned out that was still the exact same game I'd already gotten burnt out on. Meanwhile, some of my favorite recent games have been Labyrinth of Galleria, Triangle Strategy, and Atelier Sophie 2. Pretending you have to like everything to be a "real gamer" is retarded. If you don't like nu-Zelda that's fine; but why the fuck come into every thread shitting on a game you've never even played?
>b-but i did play it!
Watching some streamer "play" for a couple hours doesn't count.
From Software's games are super janky, the guy who made Witness made a comment that I think is quite correct: the games are difficult and require precision and commitment from the player, but at the same time they are super sloppy. To complement his reasoning, it's like someone demanding that you as a rally driver do an amazing time, but for that they give you a car falling apart.
the only thing that would make it feel sloppy is the input buffer, which exists specifically to punish sloppy play. you'll be precise if your inputs are precise, you mash and it's gonna feel bad when you swing by accident
>bug free
>a main quest was broken at launch
>the delay wasn't cause the game wasn't complete or anything like that
>the delay was cause the team spent time polishing the game and making sure the physics worked
except that is already part of the development process, so if that's the reason for the delay(we know it's actually ER, but let's go with what they claim), then it is indeed cause it wasn't complete
what kind of retarded statement is that
More marketing crap from the snake who brought you "tears of the kingdom has massive traditional Zelda dungeons"
But debugging and polishing are a vital part of every game?
Only for Nintendo. Snoys wouldn't understand.
Are you sure about that?
>game sony didn't make
>isn't even a Playstation exclusive
>T-t-that doesn't count!
*also on PS4 and PC
Every sony game is finished and polished on release
>a game exclusive to switch is competing with a game not on the switch
Ganker is full of brain damaged retards
my favorite part is that it was delayed a whole year, if they really wanted to avoid lining up with ER why not delay the game by a month or 2 instead?
Because they didn't want to avoid ER. It's just Fromdrones are eternally insecure fedora tipping "hardcore gamers" who want to believe their games are the best thing in the world.
>if they really wanted to avoid
no shit anon I already am operating on the premise they were trying to avoid the same launch window
>devs outright tell you why it was delayed
>it was totally because of a completely different thing!
jesus christ
Yeah I'm not sure I understand this thread, the physics are really polished so I'm inclined to believe them. I've not seen a single clip anywhere on the Internet of the physics really fucking up, not even that thing that every other game has where if you press a physics object to a wall it starts to vibrate violently
That's why this damn Zelda game will keep raping Ganker in the ass for the next 5 years.
To add to this, I went back and looked at the trailers. I noticed they didn't show off any of the underground until 2022 when they announced it was going to be delayed. Before, it was entirely focused on the sky islands. Makes me think the "polish" was actually making the underground so as to not get mogged. The companions was probably to compete with Genshin
That can't be true, way too much large and plot centric stuff is in the underground and knowing game dev they couldn't have both created everything in it and moved all that stuff down in that short of a time frame
Not to mention stuff like music that is exclusive to the underground, the recording of which would have been wrapped up likely years before
the underground very literally must have been an afterthought when you consider what the content down there consists of
then on to of that they just inverted the topology of the overworld
the first trailer of the game features zelda and link going underground to investigate what's down there
That may have been planned to be a separate instance.
yeah and ganondorf may have been planned to fuck link in his tight bussy. I have the fact that the REVEAL of the game featured the main cast all underground, you have nothing.
It was pretty clear that they're exploring underneath Hyrule Castle in the first trailer. It would have been (and was) a stretch to assume that meant the game was going to feature an extensive underground area.
>nuh uh
compelling argument anon. you're welcome to present any amount of evidence to your claims
>you're welcome to present any amount of evidence to your claims
Go watch the first trailer.
the trailer in which every main character is underground? the one where the villain is based underground? that trailer?
>every main character is underground
You mean Link and Zelda? And then they get separated? And then the castle starts lifting up from the ground? Nobody thought that meant there was going to be an underground.
oh so people's theories are now evidence that the depths were added later? if only there was a game theory about the underground
>evidence that the depths were added later
I wasn't claiming that (and wasn't the original anon you were arguing with). I'm just disagreeing with the notion that the underground was confirmed in any way, shape or form in the first trailer. I think it was the second trailer where there were a few brief clips that looked like they were underground and started the speculation, but they could have just as well been regular caves.
No one said it was confirmed but caves and underground locations were something people missed in botw. The teaser trailer of the game is a dark, underground interior, and then it so happens that there is a whole dark, underground world beneath hyrule in the game. It also happens that said world is tightly connected to the surface through quests and story bits of all kinds. It's just retarded to assume it was an afterthought just because you personally dont like how it looks or works. I just did the poe quest from the plateau and i can't stop thinking how fucking genius and well designed is the layered world in the game. Definitely not an afterthough, this quest.
>just retarded to assume it was an afterthought just because you personally dont like how it looks or works
Did you reply to the wrong post? I literally just said I didn't think the underground was an afterthought. I was just saying you were retarded for insisting we've known about the underground since the beginning, when it wasn't really confirmed until the launch trailer.
Not even that guy, but didnt you originally claim that they probably did the underground during the last yesr to compete with elden ring?
>Eiji Aonuma
>hype up fans by making fake claims about your shitty rehash.

It's like you cucks forgot Nintendo also delayed Advanece Wars more than a year. Shit happens all the time.
Did you forget where you are for a moment?
>delayed Advanece Wars
That was such a bizarre decision. Like, what was the endgame? They were expecting Ukraine to be completely obliterated in a week and then release the game? Instead they just decided, "lol, this war has gone on long enough at this point that nobody really cares anymore so let's just release the game".
here's your "extremely different" overworld map bro
Imagine shit posting about a game you clearly haven't played just because your a cynical cunt looking for a dopamine rush.
you know there are like, things on the overworld that don't appear on the map right?
Seriously though.
How is it that TotK released and game has no glitches or any issues really aside from maybe the framerate.
Everything fucking works. The physics and mechanics aren't accidental shit like Giant launching you kilometers in air in Skyri, quests don't break or are unfinished. Everything can be smoothly approached in any way you wish and you have freedom of gameplay expression few titles allow.
People laugh at the game saying it's just Nuts and Bolts and Besiege but they forget there is entire fucking Open World Zelda game attached to it that works fucking seamlessly while those other games have gameplay in isolated enviroments handcrafted for it specifically.
Seriously, no other dev managed to do that. Bethesda's titles are notoriously janky and buggy, every Open World release is a fucking bugfest and optimization nightmare. Even Rockstar, while mostly bug free in their newer games, have restrictive quest design and set pieces where it's a Game Over if you take 2 fucking steps too far from the intended path because otherwise shit would just break.
And all that is a fucking 16 GBs game running on a hardware that was outdated when it released 6 years ago when modern games push +100 GB file sizes.
Not only is it extremely polished, compare it to ANY and I mean ANY triple-A game right now and it actually blows it the fuck out. The reason ToK is so universally praised is it is a polished gem.
>how
they delayed the game and dedicated over a year to just polishing it, fuck man the answer is on the OP. most AAA devs do not do this, in fact they release games in unfinished states to patch into completion later.
I don't know I never found GTA physics to be janky or anything
I personally REALLY do not like the slow, sort of floaty "realistic" animation and movement in Rockstar games.
I never had any issue with it because I understood hwo the game responds to the controls and adjust accordinly but hey that's fine
Other games go with the 'release it and then patch it up over the next few years' shit to a point where the games released are a mess.
Honestly I hate this is how most games are released now.
I want to apologize for people who said it was for Elden Ring and I didn't listen

What drives a person to be so angry they don't even play a game but devote time trying to "best" people enjoying the game and having fun, with incorrect information? Like how fuckinf awful is your life?
I accept your concession
>The team ended up spending about a year on polish and to ensure that the physics worked properly.
So it wasn't finished.
>Delayed because of Elden Ring
>Still get GOTY trophy snubbed by Starfield
Kinda feel bad
I'm not really friends with anyone who plays video games, and I don't really like gambling, but sometimes I wish there was a way to bet on things like this. I don't care that much about sales figures or awards, but I pay more attention to games than I do to anything like sports, which people do bet on all the time. Seems like it would be more fun than just pointlessly arguing online.
Not sure where but you can totally make bets on what game will win GOTY, I mean fuck you can bet on the outcome of elections and Esports games. If you do find a way to bet make sure you bet on Todd
>If you do find a way to bet make sure you bet on Todd
Yes, yes. Let's ALL bet on Todd. It's basically a sure thing. The odds are so stacked you might as well take out a reverse mortgage and sell a kidney.
>The odds are so stacked you might as well take out a reverse mortgage and sell a kidney.
Only makes the inevitable victory all the sweeter
Was he not involved in Skyrim? Because that game kind of sucked.
>sucked
My ass, was it perfect? Not at all but Skyrim was a good game that even 11 years later is still talked about. Like Skyrim (and the rest of Todd's games) Starfield will be discussed by Ganker until the end of time
skyrim is a bad game carried by the modding scene. people only talk about it because of mods, or to point out the decline in AAA WRPGs
>skyrim is a bad game
But it's not, it's a fun and good game that is definitely elevated by its incredibly rich modding scene but even without it is still very good.
what's good about it? the writing? it can't be that considering how shit most quests are, what about combat? Melee is slightly better than oblivion but has significantly worse magic. the character building? picking 1 of 3 flavors of bar and what percent increase you want to a skill through a perk point isn't very inspiring.
skyrim is the singular most milquetoast WRPG ever developed, that's why it did so well. the stories are all incredibly simple, combat is simple and character progression is simple.
>melee is slightly better than oblivion
The only possible way anyone could claim that Skyrim had better combat than Oblivion is if they only play pure strength builds. I mean, they set the entire game in the mountainous region and didn't even give you an acrobatics skill.
melee is worse than oblivion since they ruined the skill system
no way, skyrim has better feedback and because the scaling isn't the dumbest shit ever made it doesn't take for fucking ever to kill stuff either. oblivion's melee is comically bad, though I will say I preferred when fatigue wasn't just for power attacking.
>2013
>people still bitching about scaling in oblivion
That's a skill issue, anon. Or maybe they just made one of the most popular WRPGs a little too RPG for your taste? This is why people hate Fromdrones - in spite of the games being great. Those games have created this entire hivemind of people who want nothing more than an endless boss rush with "cool" enemies and weapons, but no strategy or immersion or planning or story or roleplaying involved. Most people like Souls games, but it's really fucking annoying when you compare every other game to them when at the end of the day they're just mindless "hit the right button at the right time" lowest common denominator dopamine rush inducers for tweens who "absolutely wont touch a fisher price tablet!"
This. Back when there was regular Skyrim discussion you'd be laughed out of the thread or called a console baby if you said you were playing vanilla and had any sort of criticism. Skyrim and GTAV basically put a nail in the coffin for open world games until BotW came along and proved that the genre could still do new things and make you actually want to spend time in the world exploring and just fucking around.
Never heard of it
@637900314
Whatever helps you feel better with your pitiful existence.
You got BTFO so hard you forgot how to reply lmao

I wasn't even a chud when BotW came out.

I am enjoying it thanks anon! Enjoy...making up things for a game you aren't even playing, I guess.
See
and try not to cry this time
dilate
@637900960
I mean I'm enjoying a fun game that has sold 10 million copies in 3 days and you're creating comparison photos of topology for a game you supposedly hate yet can't stop obsessing over.
>m-muh sales...
KEK!
Trash of the Krapdom can't defend their rehashed $70 DLC so they can only resort sales numbers.
10 million retards got scammed in 3 days, it MUST be good!
Take your own advice, BotWtrannie

We're eating good, Zelda chads.
>Game has sexy women
10/10
I can't believe how attractive Purah is. Like God DAMN
Nowhere in that article it says it was going to release in spring 2022
Sky is way too small and depths are way too empty. They fucked up. Should've focused on one or the other and done it properly, now both are unsatisfying
>Elden Ring
>one year
>10 million copies sold
>TOTK
>1 week
>10 million sold
Yeah, they were really afraid of Elden Ring.
>botw 1.2 is botw copy pasted with the title changed
>the crying over totk meme is the same meme with the title changed
It's like pottery, it rhymes.
Only difference is that the meme didn't take 6 years.
Playing TotK just makes me appreciate Elden Ring even more. TotK is fucking terrible. I wish I didn't buy it.
Since we're talking about totk bugs, anyone else have the sound glitch out in the lightning temple when sliding the mirror statues?
Every time I revealed a switch with the mirror and stood on it, the rumbling sliding sound of the statue moving never stopped, even after the statue wasn't moving anymore.
>The team ended up spending about a year on polish and to ensure that the physics worked properly.
Perfectly valid reason to delay the game, given the nature of it.
its called window of opportunity. if you get it right you make a fuck ton of money. animal crossing was the accidental spark in the idea.
I like to think they came to an agreement to body slam western 'devs' by releasing back to back game of the decades. Yeah from you get 2022, we'll get 2023.
Two years of Japanese dev supremacy. It's glorious. They know squares unreliable + western pozzed and ff16 is gonna be an 8/10 game
Ultrahand is the best Zelda gimmick
I wonder what game released in 2022 that could've made nintendo delay their game.
>why do you have to wait all extra wheels to recover when you are tired?
The only time you should ever completely run out of stamina is when you just barely make it to the top of a cliff and use the last bit of stamina to jump up to a safe platform. Anything else is just being a retard who doesn't understand basic game mechanics which have been around for decades. (I actually tried watching a streamer play BotW "for the first time" to see where all the shitposters were getting their ideas from and this guy literally held down the run button, ran out of stamina, and then hobbled along until it refilled and repeated the same thing - for hours.)
>Making sure they didn't release a broken video game like everyone else has this year so far
>"Yup, they delayed because of Elden Ring"
People really just see what they wanna see.
obviously they delayed their release because of Elden Ring
>Elden Ring is a buggy mess
>thats horribru, we'd better delay and make sure our shit is tight
Elden Ring wasn't a buggy mess at all though.
>The team ended up spending about a year on polish
seems right
though I still think they cut 2-3 dungeons and altered the story which is why it feels all over the place
It is not out of place, nintendo just never gave a fuck about it. They said this themselves. They built a story on top of the minecraft gameplay, this is why things are weird, shallow and inconsistent.
Having a story that fits with the setting was never their plan.
>It is not out of place, nintendo just never gave a fuck about it. They said this themselves. They built a story on top of the minecraft gameplay, this is why things are weird, shallow and inconsistent.
>Having a story that fits with the setting was never their plan.
I never expected aonuma to simply say "yeah the story and lore was an afterthought for us making this game" but i'm glad that people can see how the guys who gave fucks about zelda's story are gone.
thunder islands feels incomplete
This is the most shameless game I've ever seen this company release. It's just fucking BOTW: Complete, but also AGAIN.
>Same great plateau sequence
>Same save the 4 races
>Same 4 dungeons
>Same 5th dungeon that gives you a mech/bike
>Same dungeon that leads you to ganon
And they couldn't even be assed to add more enemies. You get a big boko and a gleeok, that's about it. No Boss mobs for lizalfos and moblins, no darknuts, no deku babas for forests, no skulltullas for cliff walls, not even a special enemy for each region or anything else comparable to a lynel. All content in the depths is just mostly DLC and amiibo shit, with it being one of the most boring areas in the game. I can't believe they just released the same fucking video game again and couldn't even try to break away from the BOTW format. Why the fuck is everyone okay with this
>Why the fuck is everyone okay with this
Drones.
I hate this game and if this is the future of Zelda, I'm done. I bet the next 3D mario will be fucking awful shit like this as well.
I liked Odyssey and Bowsers Fury a lot. I like those games because they don't waste my time making me have to "travel" by holding the control stick forward for 10 minutes to cross a grassy plain. Plessie in Bowsers fury shits on almost all open world games.
I 100% agree with you and it's unfathomable to me how everyone is erasing BOTW from their memories for this
Cyberpunk went "gold" a few months before release and you saw how that went. Games aren't done when they are feature complete as a lot of recent releases show, specially when it comes to PC releases
>People who claimed this game was delayed due to Elden Ring were probably right
Or more likely that Nintendo decided they're going to keep the Switch indefinitely because that shit is selling but they realized they'd have basically nothing for 2023.
They should have used that time to fix the UI.
Yeah, because nobody ever tells the straight truth when saying why they delayed the release of their game.
Yeah not shit, elden ring pisses and shits all over totk
I can't believe we still didn't get any fucking real dungeons, I was so fucking sure we'd get them...
>Nintendo "We were finished but we decided to delay the game for a year to absolutely make sure everything was good at launch"
>Western devs with terrible project management and constantly rushing games out incomplete "WTF NINTENDO HOW DID YOU MAKE THIS!?"
AAA devs should do this more because unpolished dumpster fires is what they've been excelling at for decades
No one care. Totk is a 2017 logshit trash. GOTY 2023 is Vividlope. Deal with it fagget
Congrats on contributing in giving the vividlope fanbase a bad name with your retardation
Retardation? 9.75$ for an original puzzle game with a cute character vs 70$ boring 2017 dlc speedrunned in 1h24.
Who's the most retard ? I think we all have the answer
>Implying I paid for totk, implying I didn't play the demo of vividlope when it dropped during fest
You're just giving the game a bad name through association
What the fuck are you talking about? So because I say the truth I give the game a bad reputation? Are you on xanax or something else ? You really think totk is a masterpiece? If then, you have not play a lot of games in your life, and thats probably the case. You like to suck nintendo cock, I prefer support a talented indie dev. Every one is free of their choice. And mine is to not praise mid game.
>Still making the game look bad
Unless you are one of those anons who hate the game for using "chud colors" and you're falseflagging to shit on the game. If you genuinely like the game and aren't acting like a retard out of malice then I genuinely hope you're teen, otherwise there's no saving your brain.
I don't hate the game, I'm just realistic. There is nothing revolutionary in totk deal with it. I have play the game from minute it was uploaded 3 weeks ago, and I have stop playing it after 30 hours cause the game start to be boring like botw, empty, and the AI and story are ridiculous.
TotK is the best game of the past ten years.
Yes yes yes..... the "best" "game"
Now compare the AI of the enemies in BotW/TotK to ones of past Zelda games.
Will anyone ever make a high quality version of this image? It gets shittier every time a new game comes out, can barely tell which game is which at a glance anymore.
Maybe if you have no standards, sure
If covid didn't happen Nintendo probably would have released the switch 2 this year. Because of covid they had to delay the switch 2, which meant they had to delay TotK to have something to fill this year. Could you even imagine how shitty this year would have been without Zelda?
I've heard of nintendo delaying finished games before. I think they do this to spread out their release windows or whenever there happens to be a gap in release dates. Like if they see there's no upcoming games launching in spring they'll delay something half a year just so there isn't a huge content drought
Breath of the Wild was also delayed.
Because they wanted to release it on Switch.
look at this garbage combat
See
no way that's real.
