they thought how could they do a sequel with the least effort possible so they copied the whole overworld and expanded it vertically. It's underground. That's the lore.

why the frick are there modern objects like cars and rockets scattered around this pre industrial world? Why isn't everyone losing their fricking mind when they see Link making fricking killer robots while everyone else fights with sticks? Why didn't anyone know about this tech in BOTW?

      Anonymous

Because in BotW they unearthed a bunch of ancient killer robots and giant mech creatures for the chosen heroes to pilot. It's common tech in the setting.

yes but those mechs weren't created on the fly out of dirt and thin air by a little twink mute. Also why are these ancient artifacts just lying around, why didn't the big houses/kingdoms/civilizations send someone to pick them up for their own security?

Because Zelda is babies first fantasy setting and you're not supposed to think too hard about any of it. The devs put as much thought into the lore as your average LN isekai writer does.

In BOTW the ancient technology belonged to the Sheikah who still dabble in science, but forsook the ancient advanced technology. The kingdom did find their old tech and tried to use it but Calamity Ganon hacked it and destroyed everything. The advanced technology in TOTK is from the Zonai and nobody knows anything about them.

          >Because Zelda is babies first fantasy setting
No, that's fairy tales through Disney animated movies. Stop being salty.

I'm playing the first few hours in Japanese and there's a lot of informational nuggets that aren't present in the translation, especially when you talk to Robbie, Purah, Josha and the Lookout Point NPCs

          >Shiekah tech begun to disappear leading Purah to develop the Purah Pad
          >The Zonai tech was uncovered in the caverns left by the Sheikah tech
          >Zonai Shrines appeared with the Upheaval
          >Link has been gone "for some time" between going in to the Depths with Zelda and reappearing

          >Link has been gone "for some time" between going in to the Depths with Zelda and reappearing
Has to be quite some time if some kids in Hateno don't recognize Link

Purah REVERSED AGING with Sheikah tech

And Zonai tech can reverse time on virtually anything. Not a good argument for saying Sheikah > Zonai.

All but the second point (which I may have missed) are mentioned in the Spanish localization.
The English localization of BotW also had a lot of missing and botched details (such as Ganon being unable to abandon his current form due to all the accumulated hatred from reincarnating so many times) that were intact in every other language.

I gathered the last one when doing to the dye shop and seeing the weirdo's kid go from toddler to preteen. I'm guessing the amount of time Link's been gone is the 6 years from the last game.

It's explained that Sheikah tech is still around but the Zonai tech is a bit more advanced so Link is using that now.

The Purah Pad and the Lookout Towers still use Sheikah technology, but Zonai engineering is miles beyond what Purah could do.

        >Zonai tech is a bit more advanced
But this is only proclaimed in the game. Is the Zonai technology really more advanced or even more useful than Sheikah tech? It's massively hindered by their batter consumption to the point of making it useless for anything actually functional and helpful, and these machines deal is sometimes even lesser than literally gluing a rock on a stick.

Zonai seem to be more in touch with nature so their tech is more advanced, but is more for doing simple things and so it doesn't need much power. It's also more magical like the shrines aren't just underground anymore, they're portals to a completely different space.

This argument makes no sense because BoTW and ToTK is another soft reboot to make everything from the start again knowing how nintendo cant make a simple reincarnation lore.

Also, they can always make stories without ganon or the traditional format, like majora.
But for this to happen you would need to have the zelda devs being creative and not just using ganon to get sales.
