The time jannies did the exact opposite of this, they tried to make sure the original game happened, not to "stop those events".
Sephiroth's most frequent catch phrase is "I will never be a memory", but his destiny was to die, so he threw such an autistic fit that it broke the fourth wall and lead to the events of the new game where Cloud and company kill Destiny (i.e.: the route to the old game) and gave sephiroth exactly what he wanted.

Aerith is the first person who causes the time jannies to show up when she meets Cloud and decided to interact with him differently. It also seems like Sephiroth has some control over them, leaving the two of them responsible for kicking off all the divergence that happens in the story.
Makes some sense, since Aerith is an ancient and seems to be a special one at that, and Sephiroth is full of Jenova and spent so much time in the lifestream. Considering the original intent of the story those two are supposed to share and the fact that both of them have the most at stake, it especially makes sense that both can more directly interact with the jannies than other people in the story.
That said, there are differences that, I think, the story intends to be within the bounds of the original story (Marle and Roche), and differences that are more major that are not. They kinda painted themselves into a corner here and I don't think the minor divergences are going to be explained, but it's not that big a deal I guess.

Not the guy, but the plate being missing was there to justify Aerith's house (and sector 5) having sunlight not anywhere else in the slums, which was the point. It was cool that it was in the intro and the Shinra HQ puzzle.
(It was even cooler when the plate was blown up in Before Crisis, but that wasn't actually canonically what happened and was a misconception brought on by fans. It sucks.)

Nothing in history will be able to match the feel of pre-rendered backgrounds and overhead camera angles. Not even saying that's objectively better, but Remake was never going to capture that.

My only issue is that the things that were possible now just shit the bed. For example, looking up at the plate was also an amazing feel, something you never got in the original except the one short cutscene showing the Sector 7 pillar. But also in FF7R, it's rarely actually accurate to the sector you're supposed to be in. So the skybox, the one thing in the environment that actually is pre-rendered, is done shittier than the original which was nothing but pre-rendered.

The time jannies did the exact opposite of this, they tried to make sure the original game happened, not to "stop those events".
Sephiroth's most frequent catch phrase is "I will never be a memory", but his destiny was to die, so he threw such an autistic fit that it broke the fourth wall and lead to the events of the new game where Cloud and company kill Destiny (i.e.: the route to the old game) and gave sephiroth exactly what he wanted.

Aerith is the first person who causes the time jannies to show up when she meets Cloud and decided to interact with him differently. It also seems like Sephiroth has some control over them, leaving the two of them responsible for kicking off all the divergence that happens in the story.
Makes some sense, since Aerith is an ancient and seems to be a special one at that, and Sephiroth is full of Jenova and spent so much time in the lifestream. Considering the original intent of the story those two are supposed to share and the fact that both of them have the most at stake, it especially makes sense that both can more directly interact with the jannies than other people in the story.
That said, there are differences that, I think, the story intends to be within the bounds of the original story (Marle and Roche), and differences that are more major that are not. They kinda painted themselves into a corner here and I don't think the minor divergences are going to be explained, but it's not that big a deal I guess.
Just seems more likely the whole destroying destiny thing was about Sephiroth showing them their attempts to stop him were pointless rather than him needing them to do it.

Not the guy, but the plate being missing was there to justify Aerith's house (and sector 5) having sunlight not anywhere else in the slums, which was the point. It was cool that it was in the intro and the Shinra HQ puzzle.
(It was even cooler when the plate was blown up in Before Crisis, but that wasn't actually canonically what happened and was a misconception brought on by fans. It sucks.)

Nothing in history will be able to match the feel of pre-rendered backgrounds and overhead camera angles. Not even saying that's objectively better, but Remake was never going to capture that.
I still appreciate what it is though and I think it's fun.
My only issue is that the things that were possible now just shit the bed. For example, looking up at the plate was also an amazing feel, something you never got in the original except the one short cutscene showing the Sector 7 pillar. But also in FF7R, it's rarely actually accurate to the sector you're supposed to be in. So the skybox, the one thing in the environment that actually is pre-rendered, is done shittier than the original which was nothing but pre-rendered.

i was exhausted by chapter 12 after 4 chapters of literally nothing when cloud falls back under the plate. by the time things start happening again (the plate is dropped) i had lost all will to continue and dropped the game.
