nukes are comically strong. protip: target his army, countervalue is a meme irl too.
The one time we tried nukes IRL, countervalue was all that was needed, while the army was intact and could easily fight to last man for 6-8 months.

That was probably your biggest mistake. He simply has too many cities and is too close. Your priority 100 turns ago if you were planning on domination should have been

Surrender a few concessions to bribe the neutrals to attack Ragnar, they won't do much but it might confuse his army AI

some is off-screen, most is already dead, theres nobody else left besides me and my useless vassal Inca and Ragnar + his 2 vassals. Around 15-20turns ago i already fought devastating war vs them and "won", gained some territory but my cities were in the gutter. That war was such a hassle i decided to go for science victory instead of domination hoping peace would last longer, got caught with pants down and holding while getting spaceship was out of the question considering engine and other parts were building im my most productive cities.
idk how its in later civ games cause i never played long enough to get there but in civ4 they seem broken, ICBM disables most tiles around city, kill pops and random buildings, its doubleedged sword cause the city you were planing to conquer is now useless.
Watch in horror as everything you built crumbles to ruin and next time build way way more troops, even if you're going for a peaceful victory

If you're about to launch the spaceship you're drafting mechanized infantry
skipped that tech to get faster fusion for engines, it leads to nothing and honestly stats were unimpressive compared to heli and modern armor i already had
