I tried but the battles are so boring, I just want to talk

They are a mixed bag, but to give the game the credit, it probably has the best collection of battle themes, every single one is a banger
I found them weirdly satisfying
Hell if you just want to breeze through them you can ignore all the bonus objectives and S ranks
They're surprisingly fun after you get the second tier weapons, but I always liked super robot wars anyway

They revamped the battles in the switch port and overhauled some of the skills and mission objectives.

I liked it. Megumi best girl and she was a beast in my battles. But to be fair, every single girl needed to be impregnanted in this game.
My 2 main carries were glasses forehead girl spamming the frick out of missiles and not-ryuko quad kicking anything with high hp/armor

It's not a visual novel. It's an adventure game/SRPG.

Adventure games require puzzle solving with items and srpgs require strategy
I have it on PS4, it's a game you can easily forget about after a month due to it's structure and filler

I played it even though it was pozzed with gays and trannoids. The sci-fi story and Vanillaware art carried it

I played it on the PS4, didn't finish the game, got it on the switch and absolutely loved the game. Both the VN and combat parts hit just the right spot for me and I love how you start the story not knowing what is going on, then you think you understand something, then you realize you know nothing and THEN all the stories come together.
Also I'm not usually a vidya OST kind of guy but the soundtrack in it is fantastic too.

I did and the further along I got the more I realized I didn't like any of the characters, I hated the majority of the pairings, and the final tweest really put put a bad taste in my mouth and soured the whole thing for me. I wasn't bothered about the localization until I stopped liking the rest of the game. It's so disappointing. I love the art and music and even the adventure game gameplay segments but the parts that really matter like the writing didn't deliver for me.
The only fanfic thing about the localization is okino's sexuality, but the game already believes homosexuality is genetic even in the original script
