Max in Max Payne 3 doesn't even look like he did in the 2nd game(which is a butchering of Max in the first game). The first 2 games had a very noir atmosphere, but Max Payne 3 takes place in tropical Brazil for some reason. The first 2 games had occult themes, but Max Payne 3 is super serious drug cartels.
The Adventures Of Grimbald Man In Brazil is not a Max Payne game.
A 3rd game would have Max be saved by this woman. Max is now a transexual black man who has to have gay sex in order to get painkillers for healing. And instead of shooting people, max would inject AIDS into everyone via the power of love.

This was the case with a lot of games from the early-mid 2000s which is why you almost never hear discussion about the predecessors of the games in that period. The only reason most of these "OG"s even played the first one was because there was a garbage multiplat version on Playstation if I recall correctly. I've been one of a handful of people that has owned a GPU since 94 so I have to suffer through tons of revisionism and babys first pc games, of which Max Paybe 2 is one of them. 1 > 2 > 3. The best part of 3 is when you play as Payne in the flashback sequence before going to Brazil because it still has that noir feel.
3 could be better than 2 if it wasn't limited by realism and unskippable cutscenes
