They have a bunch of new servers this time around, this is why the data centre travel to OCE is ongoing, it's going to be used as an overflow server from NA/ EU and JP to try and mitigate queue times to avoid an EW situation.
Yes I remember EW launch, I remember being stuck for 9 fricking hours in a queue only to get kicked by that error message and have to start all over again. BUT that said I'm happy the game is still going very strong, it's never needed the hype from streamer shills, now proves it more than ever which is fantastic, the game doesn't need ecelebs to exist. Wow is currently back up to 7.2 million concurrent players at the END of an expansion. Ff14 has never once even been slightly close to that number at anytime. 30 million accounts created means nothing, in fact it's slow as frick for them to have reached that number so long after the game came out.

As a long-time 9-year WoW player, and a 7 year FFXIV player, I really don't think it was anything to do with WoW or FFXIV themselves. FFXIV community is just so much fricking better. I could write a thesis on my theory as to why, but that's not the point here. The people are just nicer. And before you start your shit, both games have plenty of homosexuals prancing about it.
