The problem is that the kit can do less. If I bought a kit of Space marines I can choice where they look, how they're holding their guns, what their chest plate looks like, what their heads look like, so on and so forth. In a box of intercessors I have less than a quarter of the options I had before. I can switch out the shoulder pads, the heads, but most of it is set to look a very limited series of ways.

I bought some of the modern plastic sisters of battle and the old metal ones to do alongside at the same time and the plastic ones were way worse to work with. You have to use specific bolters/special weapons with specific bodies or they just don't fit. There is no good reason for this, the bits where the gun arm joins could have easily been made a universal shape across the kit instead of 6 different puzzle piece shapes.
I didn't realize the newer kits were like this until I'd already clipped half the bits off of the sprue, and matching the bits up without the numbers on teh sprue was a nightmare. Finding the bits ON the sprue was just as bad, because they're just thrown on it with no real order or structure. Unless you follow the instructions exactly as written and find the parts on the maze of a sprue the kit doesn't fit together.
What about this experience is improved over taking a classic sprue liek tactical marines or ork boys and just cutting all the bits into a tub and pulling out any random torso, legs, arms, and head I want to go together and they fit perfectly, no issues at all, in any pose I like?

Where I am, 3d-printed bits are not only allowed, but encouraged. I know a guy who designed his own ultramarines-themed dreadnought drop pod and it's pretty cool, and I constantly see 3d-printed blood bowl teams or converted ones.
And kits like the battle sister kit and the chaos marines come with shittons of bits and options, so I don't know what you're smoking. They just released the horus heresy marines where it's literally intended to kitbash the marines with other stuff.
The hobby consists of modelling, painting, collecting and playing. You would have to do at least two of these to be a hobbyist and preferably all 4.

Even if you're scared of dipping your toes into more traditional scale modelling painting techniques, you still have lots of alternative ranges of acrylic paints, many of which have been around for many years.

I like the Vallejo colors, more military tones but I bought a black ink once and it did had a greyish effect, same with it's matt varnish, not sure if the ink or the varnish was in a bad condition but it gave me a bad impression, I still use it's regular paints

Anyway, me being a poorgay from a poorgay country and having friends who are technically poorgays by 1st World standards we would accept you coming with chess pieces and green army men (in fact, we have, and have had a good time at that), around half of my armies (yes, armies, with over 2000 pts each one*) has been made through bluestuff clonning, kitbashing, scratchbuilding or 3D printing.
I still support my FLGS by buying GeeDubs paints so I don't get any mean looks when I go to play there as they know I will pay for the occasional technical bottle and whatnot.

I started my guard army with 50% converted toy tanks, WW2 minis also help to make guard cheaper.

Buying a GW kit or a GW paint every now and then from the LGS is what keeps it alive. I'd unironically buy an expensive Citadel brush or two if it helps keep the place alive as well.

The whole transgender movement is unironically more damaging to those groups of people than anyone else. It's very common for those nutters to insist that anyone who doesn't stick rigidly to 1950s gender roles must actually be a closeted trans person without realising it and then put a ton of pressure on that person to transition, and unfortunately some people actually fall for it and end up doing catastrophic - often literally irreversible - damage to themselves as a result.
yes look at the creepy trans subreddits, lots of pressure to transition while any failure stories are covered up/decried as false.
Shits like a pipeline, also at this point while I used to just not give a frick, now I actively avoid all of it, saw a trans run group for tabletop near me and i just couldnt help but think it'd be more trouble than it was worth and sacked any ideas of attending - dye your hair pink and change your pronouns chief, you are still a man looking guy with not an ounce of femininity.

I used to just browse /tg/ and then I decided to go into my local Warhammer store for the free mini. I was the only person so I start talking to the manager/only staff. He lets me take an extra free model. Ask him about 3rd party stuff. He says he doesn't care, just can't take photos of them games with them for social media. I don't play much tbh and I will continue to shop at my LGS because I have points there. Just don't believe everything you read on /tg/.
