Indonesia has a lot of income equality. But there are tons and tons of people with good money. Indonesia, in general, is one of the most populated countries on earth. Almost as many people live on those islands as in the entirety of the US. And while some of the islands are poor, some of them are very rich. With others being anything in between.
Most of the families who travel to the Netherlands for education come from families who have it pretty good. Even by western standards.

Combine that with the fact that people in these regions usually are very short due to lack of sunlight caused by tall trees and thick foliage and a poor diet and you should be able to see why snakes feed upon them there. Picrel are Reticulated Pythons which are the largest snakes in Indonesia and some of the largest in the world.
