Elden Ring's peak player count on Steam was 925,000, and it was a multiplat title that was also on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X.
BG3 is successful, but it's not even "regular mainstream console game release" successful. It did beat other FOTM PC games like Valheim, so that's good.
Hard to say because there would be a lot of people who bought the game during EA and there's still the console release later this year, which will be hard to account for. It's a very weird release schedule. Consoles have a lot of users, but having a delayed release at all is going to hurt its sales on consoles since most people who care are going to want to get it day one and end up biting the bullet and getting it on PC even if it's not their preferred platform. We'll just have to see if the developers care to brag about their sales numbers.
What does any of that have to do with what we were talking about though? The game's popular and there are a lot of reasons for it. I was honestly fricking surprised when I beat RE4MAKE and saw that 60% of players got the final boss achievement, it's usually 30% at best.
The real test will be when we see the console sales. Consoles are still normie central. BG3 is a game that appeals to PCgays almost universally, so it makes sense for it to be a huge success on PC.
I kind of doubt it will do too well. Nobody cares about delayed releases. It's only a month, it's long enough for people to get over the hype train and long enough for people tempted enough to play the game to get it on PC even if their PC can't handle it very well.

Elden Ring's peak player count on Steam was 925,000, and it was a multiplat title that was also on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X.
BG3 is successful, but it's not even "regular mainstream console game release" successful. It did beat other FOTM PC games like Valheim, so that's good.
Hard to say because there would be a lot of people who bought the game during EA and there's still the console release later this year, which will be hard to account for. It's a very weird release schedule. Consoles have a lot of users, but having a delayed release at all is going to hurt its sales on consoles since most people who care are going to want to get it day one and end up biting the bullet and getting it on PC even if it's not their preferred platform. We'll just have to see if the developers care to brag about their sales numbers.
What does any of that have to do with what we were talking about though? The game's popular and there are a lot of reasons for it.
