I don't think "frames per second" means anything?
It's a made up PC gamer thing.
I mean, do you need to see more than one image every second? Sounds like multitasking ADHD zoomer talk.
Refresh rate does not mean the same thing as framerate
The original Doom has a hard cap at 35fps but your monitor needs to be set to 70hz so it can double each frame
>everyone in rocket league community brags about the jump from 60 to 120 >all of them still stuck in platinum after spending $400 on a 256hz
on average most people probably don't see any performance increase from jumping up to a higher refresh.
60 fps is the golden middle ground between 120+fps competitive autism and 30fps slideshow. I doubt it will ever go away unless strapping a screen to your face aka VR somehow becomes dominant.
What is smoother? >Elden Ring on PS5 wildly dipping to 15fps every time you turn around >BoTW on Switch at rock solid 30fps with consistent frame pacing/time
>BoTW on Switch at rock solid 30fps with consistent frame pacing/time
Korok Forest and Hyrule Castle are still horrendous, even if they’re better than they were at launch.
Playing at higher framerates/refreshrates is a superior in my opinion, but for me but only adds to the experience. It might be because in addition to my gaming PC I ocassionally also use my laptop for vidya, but I can deal with 60 just fine. Below that I start considering sacrificing graphic quality or resolution depending on the game and anything below 30 is unplayable and only coping turd worlders and consolegays can defend it
You'd think it's not, but I have a 170hz 1440p, and I have no problem playing 3DS, PS2, or even PS1 games. It's all perfectly playable. Played the first god of war for the first time recently, it's a beautiful game. Didn't even play the PS3 version.
As long as it's at least 30FPS, a game is perfectly playable.
Cut back.
Used to own a 3080ti, played al my games at 100+ fps. Only 90+ felt smooth, 60 was disgusting.
Sold my 3080ti before the purge to get a 4080 and have some free cash, so now I mostly play ps3 and og xbox. Got used to 30fps in a week, 60fps is buttery smooth again. High refresh rate is not a gift, its a curse
If your 2D game runs on a modern machine and even dare to touch under 60 FPS, then it's absolutely dogshit.
I could run solid 60 FPS on my pentium 200 with an S3 Virge videocard while using Visual fricking Basic 6 with bitblt.
Your toothbrush is probably more powerful than this computer.
45fps is the minimum I can accept now for whatever reason. I tried playing Elden Ring at 30fps and it felt like mud. Then at 60fps it kept dropping all the time so I locked it at 45fps and that seemed acceptable.
30 FPS well paced and frame locked is preferable to variable 45-60. PC games are all shitty paced 60 and wobble as much as a PS1, but 30 looks even worse on PC. Console 30 Chads stay winning. Which is moronic.
yeah, chad 30 is making a comeback thanks to rtx and high fidelity
the frick are you talking about, human eye cannot comprehend more than 30

It's only 6 or so FPS you absolute moron. Our brain just fills the gap
60 fps is literally all you need. I still can't notice the difference between 60 fps and 120 fps.
>Bass guitar is stupid, because I can’t hear anything below 1000hz.
This but unironically, nobody cares about bass guitars
Except the two greatest bands ever: Tool and Primus.
Except the two greatest bands ever: Sleep and Electric Wizard.
its cuz u have a rly rly slow brain
no cap
Then how come less than that has been sufficient this whole time, since 1950?
Most games released until 85 or so run at 60 FPS.
money
Once upon a time, shades of grey were all that was necessary for Photographs and Video
PC was 70-75hz in the 90s lol, early 3d games ran at 20 but by early 00s it was ~75hz again
Refresh rate does not mean the same thing as framerate

PC was just not capable of touching over 40 FPS until the PCI cards became thing.
But as soon they came, PCs surpassed consoles forever.
I RMA my 165Hz display yesterday and by god my 60Hz backup is killing my eyes.
60fps hasn't been sufficient since they made 144hz monitors
and that's a long time ago

144 is nice but i used 60 for ages and it wasn't too bad. I definitely enjoy higher fps/hz now tho.
I literally have a 144 and 60 right next to eachother and I see no difference.
Refresh rate is a giant meme, get yourself a good looking panel
Every game released from now on should be 60+ but I don't mind playing games that are at least 30.
4chin shitting on again

Why would you lie on the internet?
>>BoTW on Switch at rock solid 30fps
PepeLaugh
Do you have a Switch so you can be on the move as you groom and rape children?
wtf
It’s fine. It’s now kind of what 30 was for years.
10fps master race
console peasant, tried my mates pc, it was nice but 30 is unironically fine kthnxbai
For me it's 20.

i'd rather the industry standard stay at 1080p 60fps and higher fidelity games rather than everything cut at the knees to support 4k gaymen
based, throw an optimized game at my 3090 that makes it struggle at 1080p
and the switch cant even do 30
30fps is the bare-minimum floor for an acceptable game unless it's stylized/tile based and "retro" aka lacking animation. 60fps is the ideal minimum.
Anything above 10 FPS is just a luxury.
Keep your refresh rate low and your powder dry, lads. These landlubbers have frames for the taking.
Cut back.

When I was growing up I didn't know or care what FPS was, and the games were better, and I had more fun than you do.
30 is fine. You all have crippling autism.
I'm still using my 1920x1080 60Hz monitor and you can't stop me
I was using 1680x1050 until that broke and no one sells that aspect ratio anymore kek
depends on the game. If i play overwatch and even go from 240hz to 144hz my eyes hurt

What fps does reality run at?
I play most games on 800x600 and 1280x720 with 30FPS on a old as frick thing that I hesitate to call a computer.
You're being a sissy.
30fps
120hz
I mean, as long as the framerate is an integer of your monitor's refreshrate, you won't notice bad framepacing
threre is nothing more cucked than having a slow monitor
