If a game goes out of its way to put brown people or strong women or whatever in my face, then I know that I'm going to end up taking at least 2 points off on a 1-10 scale (usually more). This isn't always because they were done in an incredibly obnoxious manner, but because they show that the developer prioritizes the wrong things, so it's likely that some other part of the game is poorly done or pedestrian. It represents corporate box-ticking and submission to ideological propaganda instead of a dedication to quality or commitment to a unique artistic vision. It's like Batesian Mimicry: even if some yellow butterflies aren't poisonous, an animal will still avoid consuming any yellow butterflies because of what the yellow could represent. That's not good for a company putting out a consumer good whose purpose is to be consumed. Indeed, the other replies to your post seem to indicate that my instincts are probably correct yet again.
